"Sun Dusk! Get your flank over here right now!" Pinkie had yelled. Laughing hysterically, then giggling. "Room. Now. You can outside when I clean up your mess." Sun Dusk was happy. The only punishment she ever got here was going to her room. "Great, now where's this filly's mess at? Ah, there it is." Pinkie rolled her eyes at the dropped cookie jar. It's a great thing it wasn't shattered. That would be bad. She had gotten the broom and dust pan to clean it up, until she was interrupted by a knock at the door. Pinkie didn't rush, it was probably one of her friends. When she got to the door she realized it wasn't her friend, or anypony she knew for that matter. "Um, hi!" She said awkwardly.
"May I come in? I would like to speak with the mare or stallion who owns this fine establishment." The strange mare said. Of course, Pinkie let her in. "Since the only one I can speak to at the moment is you, shall we take a seat? Good, now, do you have a filly by the name so Sun Dusk?" Pinkie nodded slowly, knowing what was going to happen. She hoped to keep her longer, but now she can't. "Well, she lives at the orphanage, she's seemed to have run away, and I figured she'd be at a sweets shop. Could you get her? I'll allow you both to say your farewells, but do make it quick. I have places to be.
Sun Dusk had heard everything. She slowly exited her room and embraced Pinkie in a hug they both wanted to last forever. Sun Dusk started sobbing, as did Pinkie. It was finally time for her to leave. Pinkie waved good bye. "Keep smiling! For me!" Pinkie yelled. Sun Dusk nodded and finally went away. Pinkie had spent that day sleeping. And thinking, she had this feeling that she knew this mare. She doesn't know where.
Today was sunny, a perfect day for the party pony Pinkie Pie to go an a walk. She waved hello to every pony she saw, but something, no, somePONY caught her eye. She was reluctant to go look, the noise coming from an alley, but it was a pony who needed a smile! As she walked in she yelled "Hello! Anypony here?" But there was no response, and the sobbing stopped. She was determined to find the pony. She walked to the end of the alley. "Rats. Woah, wait!" There was a corner. A goal on her mind, to find the sad pony, she turned it, and what she saw made her day a little less happy. It was a small filly, no more than four. "Hey there, what's got ya' down kid?" Pinkie asked, a reassuring look on her face.
"I d-don't wanna go b-b-back! It's too h-h-horrible th-there! Y-you're not g-gonna take me b-back, are you?" The filly asked between sobs. She looked like she was just beaten. It made Pinkie feel horrible.
"Of course not, why would I? If it makes you unhappy, then don't go back." She smiled and said. "My name is Pinkie Pie, and I am here to say, I'm gonna make you smile and I will brighten up your day. It doesn't matter now, if you are sad or blue. 'Cause cheering up my friends is just what Pinkie's here to do. 'Cause I love to see you smile smile smile, yes I do. It fills my heart with sunshine all the while, yes it does. Just give me one joyful grin grin grin, and you fill me with good cheer." She sang sweetly to the child. That really seemed to help because the little filly looked a lot happier. "Let's take you to Sugar cube corner and get you cleaned up. If we're lucky, Mr. and Mrs. Cake will let me keep you while I find a place for you to stay." The filly looked thrilled to hear that.
Mrs. Cake was the one who had to approve, and it took some convincing, but she let Pinkie keep the child for no more than a month.
