The Guardianby shadeofthenightChaptersThe CometInterventionLost in TranslationDark PastIntervention Part 2The CometHigh above Canterlot The moon had been brought up, and many of the day time creatures were settling in. Even in the Everfree, some of the monsters there were settling in their lairs. All except, the Lunar Guards, who were even more alert than usual, but during their patrol they found nothing. All was peaceful, all was quiet. That was when it happened. Like an opening maw of a gigantic beast, a flaming hole opened up in the sky over Canterlot, illuminating the city in its bright light. The Lunar Guards on duty stared up in awe at the hole, wondering what to make of it. Even Luna was perplexed, and also a little annoyed about it ruining her beautiful night. Before any action could be taken, a comet like object was ejected from the hole before it vanished. The comet ejected was burning with white hot flames, and was heading straight for the castle. It was odd in nature, much thinner than the normal comets that could be seen from time to time. It also radiated heat like only Celestia could. The Lunar Guards quickly got over their surprise and mobilized to warn the citizens. Alarms blared in the city, waking up ponies and causing panic as they ran about in the streets. Celestia was awakened by Luna to help her stop the approaching comet. What they did not realize, was that it had picked up speed. By the time that Celestia had flown outside to intercept, it was already too late. The comet smashed through the lower part of the castle like they were made of thin glass and burrowed its way further into the interior, eventually coming to a stop just outside the kitchen. Twilight Sparkle Just before the comet struck, Twilight had been sleeping fitfully, her dreams haunted by assassins and corrupt nobles who attacked her. Ever since Princess Celestia had informed her of discontent among the more questionable nobles, Twilight hadn’t been sleeping well. The fact that a pegasus had been caught smuggling poisons into the city did not help either. The would-be poisoner would not reveal who he was working for, but made it clear who the poison was for. Now she was constantly surrounded by three of Shining Armor’s best guards, the Triple Ss, at all times, even when she was sleeping. As if adding to this point, Twilight was rudely awakened by the unicorn guard, Swift Bolt. She was apparently had the best reflexes out of the entire Solar Guard, or at least, that was what the rumors said. “Your majesty! Wake up!” She yelled, shaking Twilight with her magic. “Ugh what?!” Twilight demanded, rubbing her eyes with a hoof to banish the drowsiness. KRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAACKBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! The castle shook violently as something collided with the lower part of the castle. Twilight stumbled to her feet with the help of her guards as the room began to sway violently. The earth stallion Strong Hoof pushed her towards the door, trying to get her the safety as Swift Bolt attempted to use her magic to stabilize the room. The blue manned, black furred pegasus Sure Shot took to the air, flying alongside Twilight to keep her going. She was a few feet from the door when a deep rumbling was heard. Sure Shot quickly pulled her back as another explosion rocked the castle, this time the blast radius incinerating the floor that Twilight was standing on. She screamed as she fell, Strong Hoof and Swift Bolt tumbling alongside her. Her flight training kicked in and she spread her wings, but was still plummeting quickly. She angled herself into a steep glide. Slowly her sharp descent decreased, though not her speed. Twilight was about to make a rough landing when she collided against something, knocking herself out. Celestia Celestia felt the shockwave caused by the fiery comet. However, she was still shocked at the devastation that it caused, more so alarmed at the fact that it had destabilized the tower where Twilight was living. The tower began to sway as vital support structures were taken out, but almost as quickly a red aura encased the upper part of the tower, keeping it from falling. Celestia smiled, Swift Bolt would be able to keep it there long enough for Twilight to get out. That was when the comet exploded. The holding spell fizzled out as the explosion ripped through the magic. Celestia gasped as she saw three distinct figures fall out, with a fourth flying after them. “Luna!” Celestia cried out as she prepared her teleportation spell, Luna followed her lead, having noticed the tower as well. The two alicorns warped into the smoldering ruin of the castle. A brief but bright flash portrayed their arrival. They gasped in pain as they warped right into a fire. Luna quickly sent out a cooling spell, but the flames burned on as they licked at the sisters’ fur. Celestia, upon seeing this, began to absorb the heat from the fire, snuffing them out. Admittedly, this was a bit harder than she thought, as it seemed that the flames had a mind of their own. Once the flames were out, Celestia saw the prone form of her beloved student. Before Luna could even say anything, Celestia was at Twilight’s side, checking over her vitals, making sure she was okay. Other than a few burns and scrapes on her wings and a bleeding wound on her head, her student was alright, if unconscious. Celestia cast her healing spell on her, closing up her scraps and soothing her burns. After all Twilight’s injuries had been treated, Celestia noticed something else. Twilight had slammed into a fallen piece of masonry, but that was not what caught Celestia’s eyes. A path of destruction lead all the way to the royal dining hall, with shredded comet pieces everywhere and in the middle of the debris, was a strange creature unlike anything Celestia had ever seen before. It was kind of hard to see, as it was the same color as the wreckage, so it would have been easy to miss. It lay sprawled out on the ground, with flames flickering around its frame. She stood up and trotted slowly over to it. Judging from its body structure, it was a biped. Two arms were evident, but the appendages at the end were similar to a dragon’s talons, but they were blunt. A thin blond mane was on its face, which had a protruding nose and two forward facing eyes. Its ears were small, but circular in shape. It was wearing some sort of outfit, which matched the area around it in color.. Armor plating was evident on the outfit. Celestia marveled at the creature’s durability, as not a scratch, nor burn was seen on its body. Celestia gently prodded the biped with a hoof, and pulled back. From the moment of contact, she felt intense power in its body. That, along with its own strange aura and she also noticed that the part she touched changed to match her golden hoof.. Intriguing. Celestia mused, watching it change back to its original color. “Sister?” Celestia turned to see her sister staring worriedly at the creature. “What is that?” She asked. Celestia shook her head, “I do not know what it is, or when it came from Luna.” Luna hesitated then once again asked her sister,”Tia, what are we going to do with it?” Celestia thought for a few moments before answering,”I think we should cage it for now, if it turns out that it is intelligent and that it didn’t mean to cause this, then we’ll let it go. For now, we should see about Twilight, her guards, and any other pony caught in this disaster.” Luna nodded, before teleporting away to search for survivors. Shining Armor An hour after the disaster, Shining Armor was informed that his sister had been hospitalized. Immediately, he ran out of the ruins and into Canterlot Hospital. He was angry, mostly at the fact that he had been one of the last to be told this. He burst into Twilight’s room, seeing Celestia discussing with the earth pony doctor, Life Saver. Celestia took one look at his face, before raising a hoof to stop whatever Life was saying. “Yes Shining Armor?” She asked. “What happened?” He demanded angrily. “How did Twilight get hurt?” Celestia’s calm demeanor never left her,” As you know, an hour ago a comet slammed into the lower part of the castle. While normally, Twilight would have been safe in her tower, the shockwave and explosion that followed caught her and your guards off guard. Fortunately, the training you gave her was useful in preventing further injury. This is not what concerned me, as I took care of her injuries before bringing her to the hospital to be checked out completely.” “Then what does?” Shining Armor inquired, now curious, raising an eyebrow. “After I tended to Twilight’s injuries, I discovered a creature where the comet had landed. It was… nothing I had ever seen before. I was unsure of its intentions, but felt its power. So I put it in a cage just in case.” She replied. “A strange creature..” He echoed, wondering what it looked like. “You’ll see it soon enough. Then we’ll determine what else to do with it.” Celestia continued, smiling. Shining Armor left, going back to his search and rescue squad, hoping that the destruction caused by the creature was not its intent. If it had been…. Elsewhere Two hooded unicorns stood at the very edge of Canterlot. “So…The new princess. Is she dead?” The first one asked. “No, she escaped most of the destruction. Unsuspecting Blade was killed from the blast.” The second unicorn replied “Dammit!” The first one swore, then composed himself. “So much for that miracle. Still, this does leave her vulnerable to other attacks now that we don’t have to get past the palace’s defenses to reach her.” The other nodded,”Yes, at least until the castle is repaired, which will give us plenty of time to eliminate her. But…” She hesitated. “What is it?” The second unicorn did not reply for a few seconds, then said,” A creature was discovered where the comet had exploded. Should we worry about this?” The first chuckled,” Yes I’ve heard, and it will not be a problem. The creature is obviously mindless. I knew it the second I heard about it.” The second nodded,”If you say so sir. Now, what’s our new plan?” “First, we need to…” Twilight Twilight groaned and opened her eyes slowly. She was in a hospital room, with a few other occupants. “Princess?” She mumbled, seeing the familiar white form of Celestia. Immediately, Luna, Celestia, and an earth pony doctor whose Cutie Mark was a scalpel were at her side. “You’re awake!” Luna exclaimed. Celestia was smiling as she nuzzled her affectionately. That was when it struck her: “Where are the Triple Ss?” Twilight asked, concern for the guards that were sworn to protect her showing. “They are in lounge, waiting for you. They were mostly unharmed during the disaster, except for a few burns. “The doctor replied, checking her temperature. Twilight sighed in relief. The last thing she wanted during this time was three brave ponies dying and for the blame to be put on her. She shivered involuntarily, still confused as to why they would want her gone. The doctor’s voice brought her out of her thoughts, “She’s stable, her lungs are fine and any other injuries she may have received were healed by you Celestia. She is cleared to leave the hospital. “ Celestia smiled,” Thank you Doctor Saver.” Life Saver bowed before leaving the three alicorns alone to tend to other patients. “Twilight…” Celestia called softly as she climbed out of the hospital bed. “What is it Princess?” She replied, noting the serious look on her mentor’s face. “Before we leave for Ponyville, you should know that a bipedal creature was found in the very spot where the comet exploded. I was the first to examine it, and I can tell you now that I do not know what it is or where it came from. I was uncertain of what its intentions were and how it would respond, so I ordered for it to be caged until we find out its motives. Naturally, we are going to assess that first before escorting you out of Canterlot and to your house in Ponyville.” Celestia informed her, her tone all business. A new creature? And it was found where the comet exploded? I wonder what this biped looks like! Can it talk? Can it read? Does it love books? How did it survive the comet? Is it friendly? A thousand questions raced through her mind as she prepared to teleport with the other two princesses. Author's Note I've been wanting to make a superhero crossover for a while now, and now I've finally got enough time to do one. Please comment on what you think of it and how I can do better. NOTE: The superhero is of my own design, but you may see a few more iconic superheros/villains later on in the story. Also if anyone who previously read this and noticed the title change, I noticed that all my stories are fire related. Not wishing to be predictable I decided to change the title and bits of the chapter along with the superhero's powers/ InterventionCanterlot Containment Facility, Located underneath the Palace, Cell 181 The metahuman groaned, his entire body felt like it had been ripped apart and sown back together. His head hurt a lot, and he had no idea where he was. Hold up there Avalanche, take a look around first, then we’ll see about anything else. He thought. Avalanche had been his alternate name for a while now, ever since he had gotten it from using his powers over ice (which also included super strength and flight for some reason, but that’s what he got for merging with the Plane of Ice.). He opened his bright blue eyes. It was dark, and a musty smell was present in the air. Looking to the left he saw a small door, with a small bar covered-hole towards the top. Are those…Jail bars? He wondered, slowly sitting up. He saw the four walls, all with chains hanging down. He also noticed that the chains were too small to have been shackled to him, as the door was for his size. Fantastic. I’m in jail, He thought, wait what if that Blood guy captured me and is getting ready to sacrifice me to that demon lord? Well he’s going to be in for a disappointment, because I have no intention of staying here. Avalanche stood up, misjudged the height of the ceiling and banged his head against it. He swore quietly before moving towards the cell door. He tapped it experimentally, but received no sense of danger. He sighed as he noticed that his gauntlet covered hand was back to its normal blue and grey hue. He sighed, his camouflage had probably worn off while he had been out, as it usually did after being unconscious after a certain period of time, as it used a battery that took forever to recharge. He shook his head clearing his thoughts a bit, he needed to get out of this small cell. Then he closed his eyes. After a couple minutes of listening, he swung his fist at the door. BAM! The door gave way to the reinforced armor combined with his enhanced strength easily, the hinges breaking off and the door slamming against a wall opposite the cell. He was in a hallway, one that he could barely stand up in. Before he could do anything else, he heard rapid footsteps getting closer to his location, coming from the hallway several yards ahead of him to the left. Quickly, Avalanche crouched down and prepared to take down whatever it was that was coming. .When the creature rounded the corner, Avalanche almost burst out laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of it. The creature was an equine. Perhaps horse or pony would be best to describe it. However, it had an abnormally red hued fur with a blue mane covered by bright golden armor that seemed to give off its own light. It was much shorter than himself in height, and the curious part was the brand of a fiery shield on its flank. It stopped in its tracks and looked at him, obviously surprised. Then it brought a small rod out with its teeth and pressed something with its hooves. The rod immediately expanded into a small spear( small for himself, but big enough for the horse/pony). It leveled the new spear at him, yelling something in a strange language at him. Briefly, Avalanche considered his options. He could either attempt to communicate, go back into the cell, or force his way out. For the two former options, there was probably a language barrier and going back into a doorless cell with frost covering the door was probably not what the horse had in mind. That left one option. Spreading his arms a bit in a non-threatening fashion, he gave the horse a small smile. What he was actually doing was using his powers. The temperature started dropping in the room causing the horse to shudder. It turned and looked around, attempting to find the source of it. That’s when Avalanche struck. He flew across the distance quickly and brought his fist down on the horse’s head, the unarmored part. He winced as a loud SNAP! Was heard as he broke the horse’s jaw with the blow while also knocking it out. Avalanche waited a couple minutes, once again listening for anything else heading his way. Upon finding none, he dragged the unconscious armored horse to his cell, placing it inside. Then he grabbed the dented door and placed it back into its frame. Unfortunately due to the dents and ripped off hinges, he had to force it in. Then he traced the outline of the door, ice forming around it and freezing it in place. With a little luck hopefully no one will notice that for a while. He thought, turning and heading in the direction the horse had come. After a few minutes of sneaking around, Avalanche finally found a staircase that wound upwards, a thin light shining down from the top. Once again he used his power, flying upwards and stopping at the door. Before he pulled the small crude handle, he briefly wondered if there would be more equine’s outside. He shook his head, pulling the door open and stepping out into the light. Then he gasped. He was standing in the middle of a ruined castle, debris and smashed objects everywhere. Judging from the giant shattered doors a hundred meters in front of him, most of the front and lower sections had been destroyed. Avalanche looked up. Apparently some of the upper floors had been destroyed too. But how? Avalanche clutched his head as pain laced through it, like he should remember something. After a minute he shook it off. He could worry about it later, but the important thing was to find out where the hell he was. He flew upward, landing on what appeared to be the ruins of a tower, which provided plenty of hiding spots for himself and a view of the door he had just come from. A good thing too, since a bright flash of light appeared near the entrance, causing him to turn his head away from in. When Avalanche turned back, he saw three strange equines standing below, about ten meters diagonal to him, all appearing to be getting ready to go in. The first one was bright white, with a rainbow main that billowed as if wind was coursing through it, wore a crown, and had a small sun tattooed on its flank. The second was smaller than the first by a small bit, but was dark blue with a light blue mane, and a tattoo of a moon on her flank. The third was purple, and was the smallest out of all of them, with a odd star on hers. Oh, and they all had horns and wings, making them look like cross breeds between pegasi and unicorns. The tall white one immediately said something in a strange language and gestured at the entrance with a hoof. Avalanche looked at to what she was pointing at then realized something: He had left the door open. “Damn.” He quietly swore to himself, inching back behind a destroyed piece of while, crouching. He briefly thought up of a hasty plan in case he was discovered. The reason it was hasty was that he was still trying to wrap his head around what he was seeing, all of it unfamiliar. His plan was that if they were friendly, then he would at least try communicating, if not, he would freeze them. Simple enough. Cautiously, he positioned his head a little out, enabling him to keep watching as the white and blue one go in, leaving the purple one to reluctantly stay behind. Other things caught his eyes, and they were equine shadows slowly moving towards the purple hybrid. When one of them poked its head out, he saw that these were completely different from the ones that he had encountered before. They were a dark black, with bright blue eyes that stood out from the….exoskeleton? Their hooves were holed filled, giving Avalanche a weird reminder of cheese. He watched as they all stalked towards the unsuspecting hybrid. They were baring their fangs and licking their chops, like they were going to feast on it. The hybrid turned around, for reasons unknown and noticed them. Its eyes went wide, well wider in this case, and it shouted something, but there was no mistaken the tone of voice in it. It was the sound of one truly frightened, and with something else that he couldn’t place his finger. Avalanche turned towards the sky, then back down the purple hybrid. “I’m going to regret this.” He muttered. Then he jumped over the edge, aiming for the center of the exoskeleton covered equines… Twilight Twilight was not happy. Not only had she been wanting to actually see the creature up close, but had wanted to ask it a few questions if it was intelligent. Unfortunately, that was most likely not going to happen as the door to the containment facility had been left open, with frost covering the handle which was bent out of proportion as well. “Twilight stay here. Luna and I will check this out.” Celestia told her firmly after seeing it, her tone making it clear that there would be no negotiating. Twilight sighed and nodded, keeping herself from following them anyway. She contemplated teleporting, but reluctantly decided against it, as Celestia and/or Luna would feel her magic in the facility. She huffed and examined the frost on the door. While it was night in Equestria, frost or anything similar gathering in Canterlot was almost unheard of. Generally Celestia only allowed special days for it to be snowing in the capitol. There was also something else about it… Something powerful. Tentatively, Twilight tapped her horn against the door, casting an analyzing spell as well. However, the second the tip of her horn tapped the frost, it immediately burned with a cold agony, causing her to jump back a bit. The pain went away almost immediately, leaving Twilight to wonder what that was all about. After few moments of staring at the door, Twilight eventually decided that it probably would be best for her to leave. Perhaps she could just wait at the remainder of the gates to the castle, that way she wouldn’t be tempted so easily to enter through the door. She turned around, ready to move, and gasped. Standing a couple yards away from her, were a group of changelings, each one looking murderously at her and licking their lips. Their blue eyes were narrowed as they took slow, but quick steps to form a circle around her. She backed up a bit, her mind starting to overload as she tried to process what was happening. As if on instinct, she attempted to teleport away, but winced as the cold agony laced through her horn as she tried. My magic isn’t working?! How?! She thought, tempted to spread her wings and fly. Unfortunately, she was still learning how to maneuver in a combat situation, and the changelings in the front were now close enough to lunge and keep her from flying. Twilight briefly considered ramming her horn into or bucking the nearest changelings, but that was also dismissed as unicorns lacked the physical strength to actually do much to the tough chitin of the changelings. “SOMEPONY HELP ME!” She shouted, tears streaming down her cheeks. Had Twilight been a lot calmer and focused, she would have felt the temperature begin to drop quickly, ice forming around the group. Then it arrived. Something slammed into the ground in the middle of the changeling group, causing dust and small pieces of debris to fly everywhere. Twilight rubbed her eyes to clear the dust out. When her sight was completely restored, her jaw dropped in shock. A tall bipedal creature had engaged the surprised changelings. It swiftly moved about, striking them with quick jabs from the oddly shaped appendages on the end of its arms. The blows were denting and in some cases, piercing the chitin easily, like a manticore tearing into flesh. Ice formed where the blows landed, causing the changelings to scream in pain. Finally, one of the bolder changelings attempted to throw itself at the newcomer, green fire blazing around it as it flew at the biped. However, its target ducked and caught one the hind legs in its appendages, the fire not bothering it at all. During this, Twilight was slowly backing towards the containment facility, debating on whether or not to run to Celestia and Luna for help. Her curiosity won her over though and she stayed, noticing the winds picking up around the strange biped that had arrived. The fighting began to lull as the wind whipped around the creature with a vengeance, knocking back any changeling that tried to attack it. Then Twilight watched in fascination at the long ice shards that were also forming in the mini tornado, slicing into the changelings as the tornado expanded. Twilight planted her hooves firmly on the ground in an attempt to keep herself from being blown away from the winds that raced around. Eventually the changelings got the hint and left after the sharpened ice whirling around left various lacerations. Slowly, the winds died down and the ice shards disappeared, leaving Twilight alone with the biped. It stared at her with small bright blue eyes, not moving. Twilight was too busy examining it to notice, as she could finally see it now that it had stopped moving and wasn’t obscured by flying ice and winds. It easily towered over her, standing at around six feet tall, with its arms almost as thick as her neck. She noticed that the armor it was wearing was made up of some form of metal combined with light blue elements. A cape adorned its back, light blue in color and tattered at the end. Its mane was a deep blonde, but had flecks of white in it as well. The skin was pale, at least the pieces visible anyway. A flat mouth was evident on its face, only noticeable by its small line. Its oddly shaped feet were covered by metal boots that had sharp ridges towards the tops, which matched the blades on its arms well. Twilight was too busy noting every detail on it, when she heard something. After snapping out of it, she looked up at the biped’s face. Its mouth moved, and a strange sound was heard from it. Twilight almost squealed with glee as it continued to attempt to communicate with her through its strange language. It WAS intelligent! Before she could say or do anything however, a white hot beam of energy zipped from over her shoulder and slammed into the creature, causing it to stagger a few steps back. Twilight turned around and found a very cross Celestia standing behind her with an amused looking Luna. She turned her head back to the biped, and immediately noticed that its eyes were glowing dangerously as the temperature dropped, getting closer to subzero as ice began to fly around it, circling the biped viciously. Oh buck me, she thought as Celestia charged it, kicking out her front hooves and striking the biped. This time, it staggered back a bit more, then stared at Celestia in contempt. “YOU WILL NOT HARM MY PRECIOUS STUDENT!” Celestia roared in the full Canterlot voice, which could be heard throughout the entire city quite well. Twilight pulled her hooves over her ears, covering them as they screamed in agony at it. Then she watched as the biped responded, violently. Like a snake striking, its whirlwind defense formed around it again, razor sharp ice shards flying around at high speeds. Twilight attempted to gaze through the tornado that was forming to pick out the biped, but could only make out its arms, chest, and head. It held its odd appendage out, and a line of what could be described as liquid ice snaked out and wrapped around Celestia, pulling her into the whirlwind, the shards tearing into her skin. “Sister!” Luna cried rushing forward. Twilight had recovered enough to immediately stand in her path. “What are you doing Twilight? We must help her against that vile beast!” “That vile beast just saved me!” Twilight shouted above the roar of the whirlwinds and the sounds of Celestia’s spells going off. “YOU SPEAK NONSENSE! WE MUST HELP MY SISTER!” Luna shouted back, her voice rising in volume. “LOOK AROUND LUNA! CAN’T YOU SEE THE CHANGELING BLOOD ON THE GROUND!” Twilight screamed, her voice matching Luna’s volume. However, before either pony could do anything, the whirlwind exploded in a ball of bright but different colored light, sending both Celestia and the biped flying in opposite directions. Celestia looked fine, except for the long slashes that were freezing over. The biped had several hoof prints and horn holes in its armor to match its burn marks. Part of its face was scarred completely red from Celestia’s sun beams that had been fired at it during their fight. Celestia took a step forward, ready to start again, and that's when Twilight realized the biped was smiling. Avalanche Avalanche was smiling, as he knew something the pretentious hybrid attacking didn't. He was holding back. Several Miles Outside of the Crystal Kingdom A huge crater lay in the frozen wasteland, deep as a dragon's height, and also occupied. However, the occupant was not living, at least not to most eyes. In the center of the huge crater, was a giant sword, easily over seven feet. Its hilt was adorned with sapphires, and it formed what appeared to be some bizarre creature's maw. The blade took up most of the sword, its color matching the landscape perfectly. It sat there, not doing anything as a blizzard began to rage around its location, strong enough to throw anyone or anything that approached it away. There the sword sat waiting, listening for its owner's call. Author's Note I am considering giving the superhero Word of Power, but don't know yet. Anyways, please comment on what you think of it. Also I apologize for putting this out so late. Hope you keep enjoying it! Lost in Translation“No sign of any heroes, if we’re going to do it, we need to do it now.” “Hmph. Very well, draw out the circle while I prepare the spell components.” “Alright.” “Hey what’s that noise?” “-zinthos!!” “We’ve been caught!” “Quickly! Use the binding spell to merge us!” “Krrlan-Gah!” “You fool! You know not what you have done!” “As long as it stops you, then I think I’ll be fine.” “No! You don’t understand! You have just unleashed the-Urgh!” “…We’re done….” “….” “….” YOU ARE COMPATIBLE! “Wha-?!” …….. “Ugh, where am I? Is that- SHIT!” “YOU CANNOT DEFY THE WILL OF-“ BUZZZZZZZ! “The hell? Where’s my magic? Why can I suddenly control ice?” “Azarketh! Thank the divines you are here! The Multiverse center is in danger!” “Who is Azarketh?” “What?!” “My name…is Avalanche, not Azarketh.” Avalanche awoke slowly, aware that there was a bright light in his eyes. Annoyed, he swatted at it with his hand. There was a grunt, followed by a loud CRASH! Avalanche sat right up, and found the purple hybrid sprawled on the floor, rubbing its head with a hoof. He shook his head and got up, once again banging his head against the low ceiling. That was when he got a good look at his surroundings. He was in what looked like some sort of lab. Primitive machines and wirings dotted the walls. The walls were made of wood with bits of metal thrown in. The only lights were coming from the machines, and the door at the northern end of the room which was connected by a very small flight of stairs. Avalanche turned his attention back to the purple hybrid, who was looking at him with its abnormally large eyes in a mixture of curiosity and irritation. A large bruise was forming on its face. Though he would never admit this out loud, the hybrid looked absolutely adorable. Briefly, Avalanche wondered where the other two were, but it was pushed out of his mind as, much to his shock, the hybrid held a book up to his face, using a transparent purple aura. The book was filled with strange symbols and weird drawings. So naturally, he pushed it aside. Once again, the unicorn/pegasi hybrid pushed it back to its face. Getting slightly annoyed, he pushed it again, this time coating it in a thin layer of frost. The hybrid huffed then gestured to the now frozen symbols, then to its mouth. “You’re trying to see if I recognize any of them.” Avalanche mused, staring at the cover with more interest. Unfortunately, he only recognize one thing. He pointed with a finger at the frost covered letter Z. The hybrid looked at the letter, then appeared to have zoned out with an expression of reluctance and anger, like it was debating about something. Avalanched raised an eyebrow, then sat down, sighing. The purple hybrid seemed to fume for a few seconds, before it turned around and left. Avalanche sighed again, now having the time to replay his vivid dream in his head. What did those voices mean? Why did it hurt so much just to think about it? It’s like something else was inside, trying to pull itself out. Avalanche winced as another lance of pain seared through his head. Azarkath….Magic. He thought, it sounds so familiar….Does it mean somthing? Celestia “So you invaded its mind without its consent Luna?” Celestia sighed,. Luna nodded.”Yes I did, and now I do not regret that decision anymore.” Celestia gave her a hard look,” Really? Why not?” “’I gazed into its world Celestia, and now I can safely say that your crazy plan should work….However, measures should be taken first.” “Really?” Celestia inquired, curious,” What did you see?” Luna hesitated,” Conflict sister. A world of conflict that this creature came from. “ “Hold on, it’s from a different world?” Celestia asked, a little surprised. Luna nodded,”Yes, and it is involved in a never ending struggle between good and evil with innocents caught in between the two.” “Which side is it on?” Celestia asked, growing alarmed. Luna smiled,” Fret not sister, it is allied to the side of good. Unlike some of it’s “ “Then how does it fight?” “By using its own innate affinity for magic to fight others, and it is not the only one that does the same where it comes from” “How so?” “The only thing that I have seen is strange sort of gold helmet, and a strange golden rope.” “Intriguing. I must be honest with you, but I think that you took its dreams a little too literally.” “What?” “Well you say that it has different abilities, yet you and I both saw what it was capable of yesterday. I find it hard to believe that it has a different power. “ Celestia snorted. Luna’s eyes narrowed, “Well then, if you had been paying attention sister, you would have known that I had said certain steps should be taken.” Celestia glared at the younger allicorn, not liking her tone, but noting she did have a point. “What steps?” She asked. Luna paused,” I…I am not entirely sure, I was ejected from the biped’s dream before I could find out more. Tell me, how versed are you in separating entities?” Celestia raised an eyebrow,”Why?” Twilight Twilight was not in a good mood. First she had only gotten four hours of sleep after arriving in Ponyville. Second, she was still reeling the being hit by the biped. Third, now she would have to talk to Ponyville’s resident crazy. Twilight briskly rubbed her head. It still stung like crazy, but at least the swelling had went down. Twilight sighed, trotting out of her house, bracing herself for what she was about to do. “Your majesty?” A voice from her left jerked her out of her thoughts. The unicorn guard Swift Bolt stood just outside her door. A slightly stained bandage was present over her neck. “How are you doing?” Twilight asked, concerned as the unicorn trotted over to stand next to her. Swift Bolt rubbed the bandage, “Better than yesterday. The rest of the team should be here tomorrow. That way we can contain that beast in your basement better.” Twilight huffed,”It’s not a mindless drone you know.” Swift Bolt rolled her eyes a bit,” If you say so your majesty. However, if it makes an attempt on you, I’ll kill it without a second thought.” Now it was time for Twilight to roll her eyes,” I don’t think that you would be even to touch it. Even Princess Celestia had trouble with it.” Swift Bolt’s eyes widened as the two continued towards the more isolated part of Ponyville. “So where are we going?” Swift Bolt asked, getting over her momentary silence. “To the last pony I ever thought I would go to for information.” A tan Earth Pony with a mixed purple mane stood outside of the small house, setting out a small potted plant. Next to her, was a mint green unicorn with big yellow eyes. “Lyra.” “Good morning Princess Twilight, how may I help you.” Lyra asked bowing slightly before her, Bon Bon following suit. “I…I need your help with something Lyra.” Twilight stammered, forcing the words out. “What may I help you with?” Lyra asked, curious. A thin smile played out on her face. “I hear you are fluent in ancient human dialects.” Celestia Celestia frowned as she prepared her spell. While she trusted her sister, she wanted to see it for herself. Currently the biped was sitting down, its head clutched in its weird appendages. Judging from its tightened expression, it was in pain. Concern for the creature rose, making Celestia question whether or not she would invade his mind. Reluctantly, she decided it was best, as it might unlock a clue to this creature’s home and language. Taking a deep breath, she lowered her horn. Currently, she was standing invisible behind the creature. She gently tapped it on the head, the spell activating. Immediately, her mind was sucked into the biped’s mind. At first, Celestia could only see darkness, but her vision adjusted, and she saw that she was standing in some form of an enormous structure, with no lights present. Cautiously, she took a step forward, tuning into her magical senses. There were a couple of things here. One felt like it was being forcibly suppressed. The other felt…malevolent, powerful. Honing in her magic towards the suppressed force, guiding her forward. Eventually, as she went forward, a small light was seen. Hurrying towards it, Celestia cast a defensive spell just in case whatever was there was hostile. As she trotted over towards it, her magical senses informed her of a dangerous presence behind her, gaining. Breaking into a full gallop, Celestia passed through the light- And into a much brighter environment. Celestia looked around, noting the same style of structure as the one she had just fled from, except this was brightly lit, and strange symbols decorated the room. In the middle, was a biped. It was dressed in heavy armor, tis face obscured by a bluish black mask, with two small slits for the eyes. Its eyes glowed a shade of yellow as it turned towards her. It had wings, made of metal and some sort of energy, which matched its armor in color. Celestia shuddered as she could feel magical energy emanating off of it. It stared at her with its sad yellow eyes as the passage she had just come through shuddered and flickered a bit. Celestia gasped as she felt the magical energy emanating from the biped vanish, only to reappear a few seconds later, but weaker. The biped said something, but the pleading in its tone was clear. It needs help. Celestia thought, looking at the creature with sympathy. She nodded her head once, hoping to get the message across. It did. The biped nodded and waved its hand, magic glowing across the strange appendage. Then Celestia’s vision went black. Celestia came to in her room in the Canterlot Palace. Quickly, she rose, teleporting into the Royal Library, getting ready to prepare her spell. At the same time, she also wanted to know how in the Nine Hells that the biped managed to teleport her back to her room. Using her magic, Celestia grabbed all the spellbooks that pertained to fusing objects together. This is gonna’ take a while. However, if I succeed, then my plan to keep Twilight safe should work. Celestia mused, opening up the first spellbook to read. Author's Note Sorry this is late, and short. I've been getting emails complaining about my superhero. Notice the cover change. But is my superhero Marvel or DC Dark PastSubject Name: Azarketh Alias: James Mrionen Race: Homo Magi Exobyte Based Powers: Negative Alternate Source: Dark Magic, possibly a link to another dimension? In my recent time watching the sorcerer do battle for Order, I have noticed a great sense of determination to overcome the negative views the public has of him. However, I fear that his use of his dark powers will only further eliminate any good opinions of him. The magic he uses causes extreme harm to both the physical body, and the soul of his target. The absolute worst spell I have seen him use extracts the soul out of a body and forces it to fight his own enemies before it is forced back inside. This is a grave concern of mine, as I fear that this power may take a hold of him and corrupt the dark hero, as he has some sort of block, making him unable to cast light magic. I will continue to work with this hero further in order to keep him with us. In the meantime I would suggest that you have Oracle research someway for him to be able to cast light magic spells, and overcome whatever this block is. Sentinel Blake, Sentinels of Magic Counselor Avalanche Avalanche clutched his head again in agony, screaming at the top of his lungs as it worsened. An image ignited, but he could only make out an upside down triangle before it disappeared. Then the voices came. Hundreds, thousands, millions, perhaps even more all began screaming in unison: "The Blackest Night falls from the skies, The darkness grows as all light dies. We crave your hearts and your demise, By my black hand, the dead shall rise!" Then they stopped, leaving him to wonder whatever the hell that was, and what it meant. Author's Note If you haven't read the comments section; yes, this is a DC crossover. You'll start seeing more and more of iconic DC superheroes as time goes on in this story. Also, I might do an episode by episode format. Also, please comment on this, I want to know if it need changes. Anyway, see if you can recognize certain DC heroes and villains in the following chapters. P.S. I know this is kind of contradictory to what Celestia saw in the previous chapter with the light and stuff, but there is a reason for that, which will be explained in a later chapter. On a separate note, sorry for the delay, the chapter I'm writing is taking me longer than usual. I'm having to keep checking to make sure I don't screw this story over. P.S.S. I wanna give a big THANK YOU! to all who have favored this story, it really helps me keep writing. Intervention Part 2Avalanche Avalanche smiled, increasing the velocity of the whirlwind defense around him, but made no attempt to attack. His ice hurricane was still only a few meters tall, which paled in comparison to what would happen if he was at full power. Avalanche gave an involuntary shudder, remembering the raging chaotic winds and the unrestrained power that had caused it to go out of control. He had agreed with his mentor after that catastrophe: he wasn’t ready for that kind of power yet. Avalanche was brought out of his thoughts by another heated energy beam that dissipated when it hit his defenses. He turned his thoughts back to the tall white equine hybrid. Right now it was glaring at him, but held a curious look in its eyes as it circled him, looking for a weak spot. It fired another beam at him again, this time it sliced through his whirlwind before being intercepted by one of the many numerous ice shards that circled around him. Again, he made no attempt at a counter attack, instead focusing all his powers into his defenses. His plan was a risky one, but one he was willing to take as he had no intention of being thrown back into a cell or killed by a bunch of strange horses. Of course another option would be to summon his full power, but since he had absolutely no idea where he was, angering the locals with a raging winter filled with dangerous creatures was probably not the best way to solve it. Another beam hit his defenses. You’re probing my whirlwinds. He mused, keeping the breach open a little longer to see what the hybrid would do. He smiled, as it fired a bigger discharge of energy that punched all the way through its defenses, and dove towards him. Then he took a deep breath and with his remaining energy, exhaled…. Twilight Twilight noticed the abrupt silence around her, well other than the fact that Luna was yelling at her in full Canterlot Royal Tone. “YOU ARE BLINDED BY THE SHOCK OF HAVING AN ATTEMPT On… your…” Luna faltered, hearing nothing else in the background, no howling winds, no magic being fired. Twilight and Luna both turned towards where the fight had been taking place and gasped. The biped and Celestia both stood a few inches for each other. The difference between the two was that the biped was on its knees and panting heavily, while Celestia remained motionless in a block of thick ice. The ground between the two and several yards behind Celestia was covered in thick ice as well, glowing in the dim moonlight. The biped staggered upright, balancing itself. It looked at Celestia then tapped the ice. After a few taps, it began walking away. “WAIT!” Twilight shouted, running after it. It turned around, a cold wind blowing through, penetrating her purple fur and freezing her. “Can you at least unfreeze her? I know it was wrong of her to attack you without looking at the facts first, but she’s my mentor and friend, so can you please?” She asked, giving it her cutest face. The creature simply stared at her blankly, then said something with a series of growls, roars and hisses. Now it was her turn to look confused. It repeated its strange language, then sighed. “You can’t understand me can you?” Twilight sighed. Then she thought of an idea. She gestured with a hoof towards the ice covered Celestia, then stomped her hoof on the ground, crushing a couple rocks. Luna trotted up, curious about the biped, and wondering about its powers. At first the biped just gave her that blank look, but Twilight repeated it multiple times until it finally got the message. The biped walked over to the Celestia cube and gripped the ice with its weird appendages. Then, with a downward motion, It melted the ice into a very large puddle of water, spilling a wet, cross Celestia out onto the ground. She glared at it, then her horn began to glow. “Celestia wait!” Twilight called, getting between her and the biped. Celestia looked startled and her horn ceased glowing. “Twilight what are you doing? That thing is dangerous!” There was a firm undertone, but yet softness in her voice showed she did not want to hurt her. . “No it’s not!” Twilight protested, keeping herself between the two. “He had just saved me from a group of changelings!” She continued, gesturing over near the facility entrance. Celestia glanced over, noting the green ooze plastered all over ground, mingled with ice. “Why would you need to be saved from changelings? Wouldn’t your magic have been able to protect you?” Celestia inquired, getting up. “Remember the frost on the door?” Celestia nodded,” Well I kinda tried to analyze it with my magic, so I tapped my horn against it. I don’t know how, but it seems to be preventing me from using my magic at all.” To prove her point, she attempted to cast a healing spell on herself. Her horn flashed once before the frozen agony ripped through her body, causing the spell to cease. Twilight shivered as the pain left her, but not the cold. Then she felt something on her horn. The biped was holding her horn. She at first attempted to jerk her head away, but stopped when she felt the coldness on her horn recede. Both Celestia and Luna watched as Twilight cast her previous spell when it withdrew its hand, and this time it worked. The biped took a few steps back, averting its eyes as the spell washed over her, the magic searching for any wound on her body. The magic died down, leaving Twilight curious and yet pleased at the same time. Twilight turned towards the biped, looking at its dark blue eyes. “Thank you.” She told it, hoping the gratitude she was expressing would get through. A few seconds later, the creature nodded its head, a smile adorned on its face. Then it immediately turned sour as Celestia and Luna came up besides Twilight. Celestia hesitated, then asked,” Did you save my precious student?” The creature gave her a blank stare. “Um, princess?” Twilight waved her hoof to get her attention. “I don’t think he can understand you either.” Celestia raised an eyebrow, then turned back to the creature. A small smile shown on her lips. Twilight knew that look. It was one she saw whenever Celestia had gotten an idea. “What is it Celestia?” She asked. Celestia shook her head,” I’ll tell you later Twilight, but for right now, let’s see if we can get our strange guest to follow us to the Royal Carriage.” Twilight nodded, waving a hoof it what she hoped would be an implication for the biped to follow her. As usual, she had to repeat the motions a couple times before the biped took a couple steps forward. Twilight nodded then, with Celestia and Luna on either side of her, began to walk down the ruins of the bottom layer of the castle towards the entrance to the city. Luna On the way back from the facility, Luna had some time to wrap her head around what was going on. According to Twilight, the changelings had showed up a few minutes after Luna and Celestia had entered the facility. Luna and Celestia had both found the creature’s cell door frozen shut with an unconscious bloody guard inside. After that was when they both heard Twilight scream for help, and the raging winds that came with it. The next thing Luna knew was that the biped and her sister were engaged in a fight to the death. Now she was walking alongside Twilight with the biped following behind. The creature was very interesting to her. It had no wings, yet could fly and move faster than possible. It had no horn, but could summon ice and harsh winds. It also had an aura of cold constantly around it, which made frost start to appear on the ground. The armor was also fascinating. The armor was compromised of several sections, with what appeared to be crystalline structures on its arms and legs. Its eyes were a deep blue, but they portrayed no emotion what so ever. Luna turned her attention back towards the rapidly approaching Royal Carriage. This particular carriage was used only whenever the sisters traveled together, though now a new one was being made for Twilight. This one was painted gold on one side, with dark blue on the other. A sun was on the gold, with a crescent moon on the other. This carriage was supposed to symbolize the sisters being of equal importance, but lately it was hard to see that due to some other ponies who harbored resentment towards her. Luna sighed, knowing that she would find ponies like them everywhere. The guards outside were both Solar and Lunar Guards, and they all grasped their weapons when they caught sight of the biped. “Stand down.” Celestia ordered, flaring her wings a bit. The Solar Guards immediately went back to their normal poses. The Lunar Guards followed, but only after a gentle nod from Luna. The doors of the carriage swung open, allowing the three princess access inside. The inside of the carriage was large enough for the princesses to be reasonably comfortable, even though one would have to be squished in between the two of them. Luna noticed that the creature wasn’t following them inside. She turned towards the biped, who was standing awkwardly outside. Twilight beckoned him forward with a hoof, and it climbed in, Luna moving over a bit to make room for it. It still had to hunch down, tucking its knees towards its armored chest. Luna was regretting being next to the biped, as the cold aura washed over her, managing to chill even herself. Frost began to collect inside the carriage as it took off, heading to Ponyville with its four occupants in tow. The carriage shuddered under the additional weight, but other than that the flight went alright. The pegasi driving were apparently strong enough for the extra weight, but that didn’t exactly comfort the occupants. The biped shivered, obviously uncomfortable in that restricted position. Everypony else began to notice it to, as the temperature kept dropping, icicles starting to form on the ceiling. Celestia raised an eyebrow, while Twilight began shivering from it. Interesting, She thought, It appears that the aura reacts to how its feeling. The negative emotions appear to cause a drop in the temperature. Hm, then do positive emotions raise it? This raised other questions, but there was one that bugged Luna. Why had it saved Twilight? And where did those changelings come from? The carriage shuddered again, the weight of the biped and the ice starting to have an effect on the pegasi pulling the carriage. “Um…can you..?” Luna asked, gesturing with a hoof towards the rapidly growing ice. The biped looked at her, then closed its eyes. The ice immediately began to collect around its body, then it vanished like it had been absorbed. Luna smiled and nodded her thanks. It returned her smile with an uneasy one, like it wasn’t sure about something. The rest of the trip past in silence. Twilight was staring at the biped, Celestia was looking outside the window, while Luna preferred to use the time to meditate. The carriage landed with a few bumps, the pegasi pulling having to compensate the additional weight. Then the door opened up and the night greeted them, though Luna would have to lower the moon soon, as it was only a couple hours to dawn. Celestia went out first, then Twilight, then Luna, with the biped squeezing out last It stretched, cracking noises coming from it as it moved around unrestricted again. They were just outside of Ponyville, only a couple blocks away from Twilight’s house. Luna noticed the biped taking in the scenery with some interest. She smiled as the four began to walk to Twilight’s house. Author's Note How will all of Ponyville react to Avalanche? What's his full power, and why is he so afraid to use it?
The CometHigh above Canterlot The moon had been brought up, and many of the day time creatures were settling in. Not wishing to be predictable I decided to change the title and bits of the chapter along with the superhero's powers/
InterventionCanterlot Containment Facility, Located underneath the Palace, Cell 181 The metahuman groaned, his entire body felt like it had been ripped apart and sown back together.
But is my superhero Marvel or DC
Dark PastSubject Name: Azarketh Alias: James Mrionen Race: Homo Magi Exobyte Based Powers: Negative Alternate Source: Dark Magic, possibly a link to another dimension?
