My Little Fire Emblem – Uprising Generation

Rumours say that Shining has been defeated and taken prisoner. Now Twilight must find a way to rescue her brother from beneath enemy eyes. Twilight's company rushes toward Castle Rearvall, where Shining is being held. Surrounded by lakes, Rearvall is a natural fortress, all but unassailable. A lone bridge, held by the enemy, is it's only entrance. Twilight has only one choice. Twilight decides to confront Crystalis' soldiers head on...

Chapter 7: Waterside Rearvall

The company stopped at the start of the path towards Rearvall castle.

"My brother is somewhere inside that castle..." Twilight pointed out

"Rearvall is surrounded by lakes." Flash noted "the only entrance is the bridge to the main gate and it's heavily guarded. Castle Rearvall is a natural stronghold. Easy to defend and difficult to assault. We need to plan our attack carefully."

"Agreed..." Twilight replied

"Princess Twilight Sparkle! Allow me to fight beside you!" Pipsqueak piped up "my master, the Doctor, is in there with Captain Shining, Lady Pinkie Pie, Sir Discord... Let me help you set them free!"

"Oh yeah." Flash remembered "the Doctor has a part-time job as a clockmaker and fixer right? He's also made you his assistant."

"Nothing to discuss. Ah'm a fight." Big Mac grunted

"The hour of reuniting with your brother is not far off now." Bonbon cheered

"I'm yours to command your highness!" Derpy saluted

"We're with you all the way! Right sis?" Applebloom noted

"Don't work yerself up Applebloom." Applejack calmed "in the heat of battle, a good warrior remains calm when lesser mares don't."

"Anything to steal? I'm your mare!" Cloudchaser bowed "of course, my knife's no joke either."

"I'll definitely help you will allow me." Flitter offered "I'll be sure to keep a distance from the enemy."

"You'll need my genius and power in this fight if you want to win!" Twinkleshine promised

"I have still to repay you for fighting those abominations back then." Colgate explained "I'll stand by your side a little longer if you wish."

"All right!" Button Mash jumped "this sounds like trouble, looks like it's a trap. But trouble brings bits and experience! My luck has to turn around sometime right?"

"May the sacred light surround and protect us all." Dinky prayed

"Well then Princess." Flash concluded "let's prepare for battle."

"I'm on my way for you brother." Twilight said determined "let's go!"

"As from the last battle, the maximum number of ponies you can bring are 10 and that includes yourself. So pick your 9 ponies wisely."

"Apple sisters, take the front of the battle." Twilight commanded and continued to give further orders

"Cloudchaser, Button Mash, you ponies are behind the sisters."

"Flitter, and Twinkleshine. You are in the third row with me."

"Finally, you'll be at the back, Colgate, Dinky and Pipsqueak. Now, we shall take Rearvall!" Twilight cried raising her rapier in the air.

"Princess, look!" Flash noted from the convoy. He pointed at some strange looking vehicles with wheels and a large crossbow positioned on it.

"Those are ballistae milady." Bonbon noted "We have some in Lunata and are normally used for sieges."

"Seems they are positioned around the castle instead." Derpy noted "Forests and mountains."

"Eeyup." Big Mac grunted

"Ballistae?" Twilight asked "what are 'ballistae'?"

"Like Bonbon said, ballistae are siege weapons. However, these look like they are modified for castle defence." Flash replied "they can shoot further than any bowmare and are extremely powerful. Unless we want to suffer the endless rain of arrows, we should be careful in our approach."

"So what can we do?"

"Ballistae only have so much ammunition. It can make only up to 5 shots. If we could find some protective cover, we can wait until they have dried out their ammunition."

"By the way..." Flitter went up to them "I might be able to use ballistae if you want."

"You're certain about this Flitter?" Twilight asked

"Yeah! It's just like a bow. As long is it still has ammunition and that no one is in it. Just make sure no enemy gets there first, and I'll man the weapon to provide long range cover if you want."

"Remember the goal of this battle milady." Flash reminded "you are to seize the gate of Rearvall in order to win."

Applejack started off the battle hacking away at the soldiers with Applebloom and Cloudchaser while Dinky visited a house to learn about what's happening in Rearvall. Button Mash escorted Flitter to the nearby ballistae and Twilight pressed forward.

"We're under attack!" The enemy cavalier alerted "rouse yourselves! General Lightning's adjutant, Lord Bold, has charged us with defending the castle! Show them the might of the cavalier's brigade! Don't let them near the castle!" As word, the enemy started to advance, one solider went for Applebloom but failed to hit and got his life taken from Applebloom's new dual axes.

Button Mash attacked the enemies guarding the ballistae, but unluckily got hit by an axe on the way. Cloudchaser took the lead as the next wave of enemies were made up of fighters and an archer, then everyone advanced ahead.

The fighters,archer and a mage made their way to attack Cloudchaser. Out of all their attempts, only the mage gets to throw an accurate fireball at her.

"Nice hit." Cloudchaser complimented after feeling the burns "won't happen this time."

Another mage casted thunder on Button hitting him. He was seriously injured this time.

"I'll help you!" Flitter called out

Button finished off the mage in two hits while avoiding her thunder strike. Flitter proceeded to ride the ballistae.

"Wait until the main party needs it." Button advised. The main group managed to take down the second wave of fighters. For the third set, Twilight has something to say to Cloudchaser.

"There's a mage that is currently keeping her energy ring close to her. We can't get it if we drop it. Can you steal it for me?"

"Like I said, I'm a thief! I'll do the job!" Cloudchaser agreed

A nearby fighter of the 3rd line of defence spotted the group and galloped towards them. However, Colgate got to strike first and with a prayer, she critically blasted the fighter to nothing. As the party continued on advancing, Applebloom visited another house to know the whereabouts of Captain Shining Armor. She said that there was a commotion on how some soldiers were chasing something... Twilight would want to hear this Applebloom thought.

An archer spotted the advancing party and hopped on a ballistae to take fire at Twilight. Luckily, the arrows only hit the trees and branches leaving Twilight unharmed

"We've got to do something about that!" She warned everyone

The team started to hide themselves in the big forest to prevent any damaged caused by the enemy ballistae. Meanwhile, Button and Flitter were busy relaxing and sleeping the time away, waiting for the signal.

The mercenaries and mage of the 3rd line defence took Cloudchaser as their main target. Cloudchaser thinks of these grunts as idiots. Why bother hitting a thief?

Pipsqueak took the chance to run towards the Ballistae to disarm the enemy bowmare. Twilight used her teleporting strike to critically finish one mercenary, while Twinkleshine made her move on the other. Though her fireballs failed to kill him, he was badly wounded. Cloudchaser approached the mage

"I'll take that!" Cloudchaser smiled as she nicked the energy ring from the mage.

"H-Hey!" The mage cried "give it back!"

"You're going to have to kill me first!" Cloudchaser replied

True to her word, the enemy mage made a strike against Cloudchaser who dodged again. As a second move, she stuck Twilight with lightning wounding her badly. It was lucky that Twilight managed to dodge the ballistae, otherwise, she would be a dead mare.

Dinky quickly healed Twilight's wounds, but as everyone tried to hit their enemy, they failed and got countered pretty badly. Applebloom and Twinkleshine were a few unlucky examples. Without any chance of injury, Pipsqueak happily killed the rider of the ballistae in two slashes of his sword.

"I'm not done with you yet!" Cloudchaser called to the mage as her iron knife was driven into the mage killing her. Colgate took care of the mercenary.

"Thank you." Twinkleshine thanked her light priestess companion

"She gave me one hell of a wound!" Applebloom noted to Cloudchaser

"All right! We're nearly there!" Twilight exclaimed "someone get Flitter and Button's attention!"

On the other side of the cliffs, Button Mash saw Dinky's torch signal.

"They're here!" Button alerted Flitter "man the ballistae!"

"On it!" Flitter obeyed and put the ballistae in position. Ready to fire at a moment's notice.

The enemy fighter that was supposed to guard the late enemy archer thought he could avenge the archer's death and overlook his own failure by taking out Pipsqueak. Rest assured, punishment for failure is death by the enemy's sword and in this case, Pipsqueak's sword.

The enemy soldiers started to aim for Twilight. Twilight used her teleporting strike once again to critically end the soldier. The other solider, Twilight just took him out in two stabs. Apart from the enemy boss, who can beat the Princess?

"I really think the ballistae isn't necessary anymore." Flitter noted

"Okay then" Button agreed, "exit the weapon and let's catch up with the others." There were only three enemies left now. Two guard archers and the cavalier boss himself. The party continued to advance closer and closer to the castle. They were ready.

However, one archer noted and shot at Twilight hitting her neatly. What he didn't know that he was in the range of the Ballistae.

"Scratch that!" Button alerted again "get that enemy archer!"

"Ok!" Flitter nodded. Riding and aiming the ballistae, she let loose a big arrow and impaled the attacking archer.

"Phew! Thanks for the backup!" Twilight called out

"No problem!" The party was ready to cross the bridge at command.

The other enemy archer went to shoot Cloudchaser and by golly, it worked.

"Dang" Cloudchaser winced "am I getting slow?"

With the archer in the ballistae's range again, Flitter shot one more time and brought the archer to the ground lifeless. Now everyone was crossing the bridge by now, making the attack on the lone cavalier.

"Our ballistae have failed?" The cavalier gasped in shock "how could this be?"

"Simple!" Pipsqueak replied "your defence weapon became our offence weapon!"

"Grr... I guess it's up to me!" The cavalier growled as he prepared to anticipate Pipsqueak's lance, but failed to dodge. Pipsqueak however, managed to dodge the cavalier's dangerous sword and the main party swarmed the enemy commanding cavalier.

"Ok, how about a ranged attack?" The cavalier tried and swapping to his javelin, threw it at Applebloom. But axes beat lances and she dodged it without trouble.

"Now! Get all the axe users to fight!" Twilight commanded. Applejack replaced Pipsqueak's spot and with her younger sister, hit the cavalier with all their might but he refused to fall down.

"You fell for my trap." The cavalier chuckled and swapping back to his Steel sword, struck Applejack. Luckily, she was still standing but one more hit and she's done for.

Dinky tended Applejack's wounds immediately while Pipsqueak came back again for an attack. This time, the cavalier did hit him. Twilight thought she may be a good distraction for the javelin and came into his range.

Sure enough, the cavalier did fall for the trap and although he hit Twilight, he was now equipped with a lance. And there are two deadly axe users as the enemy!"

"Hah! Now you fell into our trap!" Applejack chuckled 'this'll do it. Prepare to be defeated!" And with that, she leaped into the air and brought down the axe on her opponent.

"Lord Bold..." The cavalier gasped his last words before he fell into the trap to Tartarus, where he will never get out. However, he left a Knight Crest behind.

"This is the item that Flash used to level up!" Twilight exclaimed "wonder if it will work on me? Oh well! Better seize the gate!" And she stood in front of the gate to raise her rapier up high.

The company ran into the castle after everyone managed to regroup.

"My brother is in here..." Twilight said. "Flash, let's go inside!" Until Flash stood in front of her to protect her.

"Hold Princess Twilight. There is a figure in the shadows." He explained

"An enemy soldier!" Twilight cried out, but guess who came out of the shadows? It was Discord

"Princess Twilight. And... Is that you Flash Sentry?" Discord greeted surprised

"Sir Discord..." Flash started, suspicion filling his mind "why are you here? You should be with Captain Armor."

"Are you all right Discord?" Twilight asked as she stepped forward to comfort the draconequus "if you're here, then my brother must be here as well right?"

"Yes..." Discord replied "Captain Shining and I were both captured by Crystalis forces and held here as prisoners. I just managed to escape my cell... A chance to escape-- It's what I had prayed for..."

"Discord..." Twilight asked worried "are you okay? Your face is really pale. Crystalis' mares, don't tell me they've..."

"No, it's nothing." Discord answered "but Captain... I cannot say whether he is still unharmed."

"What!?!? Where is he? Where is my brother!?!?" She yelled back

"If he lives still, he will be in one of the deeper cells, it's where I was held. Head down this corridor to the dungeons. Quickly, before the reinforcements arrive." Discord informed and showed the way there

"Oh... Thank you." Twilight thanked. Flash however, still looked uneasy about Discord as he, Twilight and the party followed.
