I Want Him Back

I was then invited inside for brunch which consisted of basically anything related to apples.  "What's the purpose of the Diamond Dogs in Appleloosa?" I asked.

"Most Diamond Dogs are after gems" Rarity explained.  "But the ones in the underground of Appleloosa are after cherished items ponies hold dearly."

"So there are other cherished items down there as well?" I asked.

"Here's the weird thing" Applejack began.  "After they snatched the Mr. Smarty Pants doll, they returned everything back."  That is weird.  Why would an old doll spark an interest in the Diamond Dogs so much they rather have it than every other valuable they stole?  As I continued eating, I started to come up with various conclusions and logical explanations.  By the time I down the remaining apple cider, and finished eating the remains of the apple pie, I came up with the right answer to this very question.   Nothing.  My thoughts led me nowhere.  I didn't have any guesses or any other possible explanations to this.  I thanked the Apple Family for brunch and left Sweet Apple Acres.

Canterlot

Chase was pacing the halls of Canterlot (in the same area as Princess Twilight Sparkle's room) moaning.  Remy was standing against a stain glass window, looking at his friend oddly while grazing on a flower sandwich.  If a normal human saw him, they would make fun of the gunslinger for eating something consisting of bread and flowers.  In reality, this sandwich is not like any another sandwich we have eaten on Earth because has one thing that a few other sandwiches lack on Earth.  Nutrition and vitamins.  Lots of them.  "Will you calm down?" He asked.  "Cale will arrive, he'll tell us the plan, then we rescue Mr. Smarty Pants, end of story."

"Easier said than done" Chase whined as he grabbed Remy by his jacket, causing him to drop his sandwich.  "This doll is a prize possession of my special somepony!  Not getting him back might result in losing her!  I don't want that!" Remy smacked him so hard, his senses returned.  "You're right" Chase said.  "Cale knows what he's doing.  He might have a plan" he said, calming down.

"Good.  Now go to the kitchen" Remy said.

"Why?" Chase asked.

"Because you owe me another sandwich."  Chase looked down and saw that the sandwich Remy was eating was not even halfway of being consumed.

"Fine" the youngest Horseman said as he walked down the hall.

"Any word from Cale?" Jack asked as he approached from the opposite direction.

"No" Remy said.  "But we are waiting for him."

"I see."  Jack looked down.  "Cool, a flower sandwich" he said as he picked it up.

"That was originally mine" Remy said.

"Want it back?" Jack asked as he held out the sandwich to him.

"No, its ok." The gunslinger said.  Jack shrugged and took a bite out of it.

"That was sitting on the floor.  Plus I don't believe in the five second rule."

"Oh I'm not eating it because of the five second rule" Jack said as he took another bite.

"Why are you eating it then?"

"Remy, momma didn't raise a fool."

"What the hell does that mean?"

"Are you kidding?  I'm not going to let this sandwich lie on the floor, and I'm certainly not going to throw it away.  Someone's got to eat it."  And that's what he did.  By the time Chase arrived with a fresh new sandwich, Jack had already devoured the sandwich that once belonged to Remy.

"I believe you wanted another sandwich?" He asked.  Remy nodded and took the sandwich from Chase and began to eat it.  As he did so, I entered the castle looking a little disturbed.

"We got a problem" I said.

"What?" Chase asked.

"Big Mac had Mr. Smarty Pants all this time and now the doll was grabbed by a gang of Diamond Dogs living underground in Appleloosa."

"Why would Diamond Dogs go after a doll instead of gems?" Remy asked.

"That's what I want to know" I answered.  "The train to Appleloosa leaves in 20 minutes.  I suggest we pack up any necessary items and board.  And I'm sure Princess Twilight would want to come also.  I want to see the look on her face when she sees her precious doll."  'Sorry Big Mac, but the doll is hers' I said in my mind.

The four of us walked into a room where all our weapons are stored.  After the raid in Canterlot 2 years ago, we gathered the weapons from all the dead soldiers and stored them here.  Their weapons are ours now.  I may be equipped with a handgun right now, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to stock up on more weapons.

  I sat by a table that was about as big as three coffee tables put together and loaded bullets into a handgun mag.  While I did so, Remy joined me and began to do the same thing except he was loading a mag for a sniper rifle.  He also brought said sniper rifle, a few cleaning rags, and two other handguns with him.  I loaded the mag into my gun and moved it aside.  I then pulled out the desert eagle handgun I always carry around and began to clean it with one of the cleaning rags.

"I've been dying to use this thing" Remy said as he cleaned the scope of his sniper rifle.  "Of all the guns in the world, snipers are my main weapons" he said proudly as he put the scope down.  "Do you snipe?"

"Not a common thing I do for my kills but yeah, I snipe when I have my chances."  On the far side of the room, Chase closed a locker armed with a handgun and brass knuckles in his pocket.  He then approached Jack.  "When I see those Diamond Dogs, I'm going to show them what happens when they steal from the one I love."

"Easier said than done" Jack said as he sheathed several throwing knives and razor sharp gems into the inner pockets of his vest.  He turned his head and saw that Remy and I were ready.  Before we could leave, Princess Celestia arrived with Princess Twilight.  We lived here for so long it came to a point where bowing to Princess Celestia and Princess Twilight wasn't necessary, but we still showed respect by bowing.  When we got to our feet, we saw Princess Celestia levitating a box.

"Be warned.  The Diamond Dogs in the Appleoosa underground have something ordinary Diamond Dogs doesn't."

"What?" Remy asked curiously.

"Intelligence" she answered.  "These Diamond Dogs will probably be the most dangerous enemies you'll ever face which is why I'm giving you these." She opened the box and four rings levitated out.  "It's time for the Four Horsemen to save Equestria once more" she said as we retrieved our rings.

"Say what?" Chase asked.

"You need to save Equestria once again."

"From what?" Remy asked.
