Soulbound

Chapter 1: Find Our Way

It was a quiet afternoon in Equestria. There were clouds covering half the sky and the only sound heard was a gentle breeze. Two ponies were walking side by side together through a terrain of hills that were completely covered with grass and very few trees. One pony was a young adult Pegasus mare with a pure white coat, yellow eyes and a light grey mane. The other pony was a young Pegasus filly with a light blue coat, grey eyes and a yellow mane.

"Are we there yet,?" the little filly asked the Pegasus next to her.

"We'll get there when we get there, Spirit." the Pegasus replied.

"We've been walking since this morning, Darklight. Can we PLEASE take a break?" Spirit said in a desperate tone.

Darklight let out a sigh. "Alright, we'll take a break when we get to that tree." she said as she pointed her hoof to a tree on top of a hill.

"Oh, thank Celestia. My hooves are starting to cramp." said Spirit.

As the two started to approach the tree, they could hear voices coming from behind the tree. When they finally got to the tree, they decided to hide behind it and take a peek through the side of the tree to see where the voices were coming from. There were 2 ponies sitting around on a large quilt having a picnic. One was an Earth Pony who had a pink coat and pink puffy mane. The other was a Unicorn who had a purple coat and a dark blue mane with a light blue stripe.

"Pinkie, stop hogging the whole cake! There won't be enough for me!" the Unicorn exclaimed to the Earth Pony.

"Sorry, Twilight. I can't help it. Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cheesecake is my favorite." the pink pony said with an innocent tone.

"Oh, nevermind. I'll just have some tea." said the Unicorn.

Meanwhile, the two ponies behind the tree were still peeking at them. "Should be ask them for directions?" Spirit whispered to Darklight.

"Who says we're lost? I don't need any directions." Darklight whispered in reply.

"It wouldn't hurt to ask, would it? They look friendly. Besides, we might get some information from them." Spirit suggested.

Before Darklight could reply, Spirit walked around the tree and towards the two ponies having a picnic. Darklight let out a sigh and slowly followed her. As soon as they were in the sight of the two ponies, the purple one asked without hesitation, "Oh, hello. Didn't see you there. Can I help you?"

"Hi, there. My name's Spirit. This is my big sister, Darklight." Spirit said in a friendly tone.

"Well, it's nice to meet you both. My name is Twilight Sparkle. This is my friend Pinkie Pie." Twilight said likewise.

"Oh, my gosh, I've never seen you two before! That must mean you're both new to Ponyville! You know what this calls for!?" Pinkie Pie shouted excitedly.

"Do I dare ask?" Darklight thought.

"A PARTY! There'll be music, cake, games, punch and other ponies there, too!" It'll be FUN!" shouted the hyper pink pony.

"Ooh, a party! Can we go, Darklight? Can we? Can we? Please~?"  Spirit pleaded with an irresistibly cute face.

"We don't have time for a party. We need to find Ponyville." Darklight said with a serious expression.

"Oh, well why didn't you just say so? We're FROM Ponyville. We can take you there if you like. It's over there." Twilight said while pointing to Ponyville in the distance.

"Well, aren't WE lucky? We found Ponyville. Can we still have that party, sis?" Spirit asked with a happy face.

Darklight let out a sigh before saying, "Okay, fine. You can go have some fun while I go look for a place to stay in the meantime."

"Would you two like to stay at my library? It'll save you time searching and you can still go to the party." Twilight proposed..

"Well, I...... Thank you" Darklight said in a thankful manner.

With that settled, Twilight and Pinkie Pie packed up their picnic and escorted Darklight and Spirit to Ponyville. The sun was setting and the sound of the gently breeze was replaced with crickets chirping. When they finally arrived in Ponyville, Spirit went with Pinkie Pie to get ready for the welcoming party while Twilight lead Darklight to her library where they'll be staying. The library was a lark oak tree with a door, windows and a balcony. Since the sun was already going down, there were lights shining through the windows. The two went inside.

"I have a guest room that you and your sister can use." Twilight said as Darklight put her saddlebag down.

"Thanks, Twilight." said Darklight as she took a seat on the couch.

"No problem, Darklight. Would you like some tea?" Twilight offered.

"That would be great, Twilight." Darklight said.

Twilight exited the living room and into the kitchen to make some tea. As soon as Twilight was out of sight, Darklight let out a worried sigh. I was hoping I wouldn't get too close to a Unicorn. I just hope she doesn't notice. Darklight thought. Darklight sat and waited for a few more minutes until Twilight finally came back in while levitating a tray of tea with her magic. As soon as Twilight put the tray on the table in front of the couch, she gasped loudly and took a few steps back.

"What the... what was that!?" Twilight exclaimed

"Oh, so you noticed? I was hoping you wouldn't. But I may as well tell you, seeing as your already pretty curious" Darklight said in a depressed tone.

Twilight sat down in front of the coffee table and decided to listen to Darklight's explanation. "What's this dark energy that I'm sensing from you? It feels so... powerful."

Darklight was preparing to tell Twilight everything. "I'll tell you. For as long as I can remember, I'm always had this powerful dark energy inside me. I never found out why I have it but I found out what it was. I went to an expert Magic Unicorn in Baltimare   and he confirmed that a spell called 'Soulbound' was cast onto me when I was bor-"

Twilight interrupted " Wait, did you say 'Soulbound'? That's an ancient spell used to seal away the souls of dark spirits, demons and other evil creatures. The soul is sealed together with the soul of the host to form one soul. But it's risky because if the soul is too powerful for the host, then the host will suffer endless pain and agony until the host is nothing more than a corpse and the dark soul escapes. Nopony in history has ever survived the Soulbound spell."

"Well, it looks like I've made history, doesn't it? I was hoping not to get too physically close to you, Twilight. Not because I don't like you, but because when magic-using Unicorns use their magic near me, they sense a dark aura around me and then drive me away. And I guess you're gonna do the same to me now, huh?" Darklight explained in despair.

"But you seem like a good pony to me. and you're still in one piece after that spell was cast on you. You DID say you've had it for your whole life. Besides, I'd like to hear more, if that's okay with you." Twilight said in a calm manner, allowing Darklight to stay at her home.

"Thank you, Twilight. I'll explain everything to you. The only explanation I can think of is that I'm either extremely lucky or not a normal pony. I think the second option is more believable. Anyway, Spirit and I left our home about a month ago to find a way to use the power of my soul for peaceful purposes. We first came to Ponyville to find some information." explained Darklight

"Well, I happen to be Princess Celestia's star pupil. I have good connections with her and maybe I can ask her to help you." Twilight said.

Darklight had a very surprised yet relieved look on her face. "Really? You'd do that for me, Twilight?"
