Chapter 3: Meet the Mane 6

Twilight and Darklight stepped inside Sugarcube Corner with Darklight gasping in surprise. She had never seen so many ponies in one room. There were at least 30 ponies in sight. All of these ponies were invited to a welcoming party? Darklight thought.

She walked through the crowd of ponies for several minutes, trying to look for Spirit. It was almost impossible to spot a filly in a party of 30 ponies.

“Spirit! Where are you!?”, Darklight tried calling out, but the chatter from the ponies mixed with the loud party music made it unnoticeable. Darklight suddenly walked into something small. She looked down and saw Spirit looking up at her while eating a cupcake with heavy frosting on it. “Oh, hi sis!”

“I’ve been looking for you for several minutes. I almost gave up looking for you.”, Darklight said with a relieving tone.

“Oh, I was in the kitchen watching Pinkie Pie make muffins. She’s really good partying material. Wanna try one? They’re freshly baked?”, Spirit said with a huge smile on her face.

“No thanks, I’ll just have some punch. Well, it seems you’re having a blast here.”

“Oh, it’s the BEST! This is the most fun I’ve had in years. I can’t remember the last time I ever SAW a party!"

“Yeah, not since…” Darklight was about to say something that she would regret bringing up and didn’t finish her sentence. It reminder her of the time their parents were alive. They both lowered their heads in sorrow.

Spirit looked back up at Darklight with a tear going down her cheek. “Oh, no, I’m so sorry, Spirit. I didn’t mean to bring it up. “ Spirit wiped away her tear and walked against Darklight.

Darklight wrapped a hoof on her sister’s shoulder, trying to comfort her. “Come on, Spirit. Cheer up. Hey, why don’t we meet Twilight’s friends? She said she’d introduce them to us. Would that cheer you up?” Spirit nodded in response.

As Darklight and Spirit walked through the crowd of ponies again to find Twilight, Darklight felt guilty about almost bringing up a heartbreaking memory. I hope I never do that again. I’ll just have to stop thinking about it. Now where’s Twilight? Darklight thought to herself.

Suddenly, Pinkie Pie pounced right in front of Darklight while bouncing up and down. “Hey, there's the two ponies of the hour! Are you looking for Twilight!?”

”Uh, yeah?” Darklight said with a confused look.

“Okie dokie lokie! Follow me; I’ll take you to her. She tells me she wants to introduce you to the rest of our friends.” Pinkie said with an everlasting smile.

Darklight nodded and followed the pink bouncing pony with Spirit behind her. Shortly after, Pinkie leads them to a round table against a window where 5 ponies were sitting around. There was Twilight, another Unicorn with a white coat and a purple mane. Two Pegasi; One with a blue coat and a rainbow colored mane, the other with a yellow coat and a bright pink mane and an Earth Pony with an orange coat, a yellow mane and wearing a Stetson hat.

“Well, everypony, here they are! Our guests of honor.” Pinkie Pie said before bouncing to a free space around the table.

“Thanks, Pinkie Pie. I’ll take it from here. Everypony, this is Darklight and Spirit. They just arrived in Ponyville today and are staying at my library. Let me introduce you to my best friends; this here is Rarity…”

“Salutations.” The white Unicorn greets herself in a very lady-like manner.

“This is Rainbow Dash…”

“How’s it goin’?” says the rainbow pony in a confident tone.

“That’s Fluttershy…”

“Um……hello” whispers the shy Pegasus as she slowly lowers under the table.

“And then there’s Applejack.”

“Howdy, partners!” says the farm pony in a country accent.

“And together, we’re the Elements of Harmony.” Twilight says after finishing the introductions.

Spirit tilts her head to side while wearing a confused expression. “The Elephants of Armory?”

Darklight misheard what they said as well and looked outside through the window. “It’s a little loud in here. Can we take this outside, please?” All the ponies nodded in agreement and started making their way to the exit.

As the 8 ponies made their way outside, they walked a necessary distance from Sugarcube Corner so that they can clearly listed to what they’re saying to each other.

“That’s better. Now what was that last thing you said, Twilight?” Darklight said.

“As I was trying to say, we’re the Elements of Harmony and we protect Equestria from evil threats.” Twilight said clearly.

“Elements of Harmony? What are those?” Spirit asked

“They are six supernatural artifacts that are the most powerful force in Equestria. Each artifact represents an element of friendship and the six of us each possess the corresponding traits to wield them.” As Twilight explained, Darklight started to slowly walk backwards in fear, as if she had just seen a ghost.

“Oh, no… Spirit, we have to go!” Darklight quickly grabbed Spirit’s hoof and threw her onto her back. She then started running from the Mane 6 to give herself a little thrust to fly away.

“Darklight where are you going!?” Twilight was ignored.

Darklight was now airborne and quickly made her way towards the field outside of Ponyville.

“Leave it to me. I’ll go see what’s bugging her.” Rainbow Dash said before quickly zooming through the air to pursue Darklight.

“What was that all about?” Rarity asked in a dumbfounded tone.

“I don’t know, but we have to talk to her. Maybe we can help.” Twilight said worried. I wonder… was she scared to think that we were a weapon against her?
