The fatal error
Chapter three
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAuthors note: You will probably see twilight acting out of character in these next couple of chapters. Dont complain about it in the comments because im not going to do anything about it.
One week later.
Twilight had been allowed to leave the hospital earlier than she assumed, but she didn't leave after she was released. Pinkie had finally awoke from her deep sleep, and by that time Twilight was allowed to leave her room. They just kept her in the hospital to make sure there were no complications with her injuries. Sadly, Pinkie had experienced a lot more damage to her brain than the doctors had thought, she wasn't the cheerful, completely random pink mare that she used to be. And surprisingly enough, the brain damage actually brought out her intelligent side, which was completely impossible. But she was Pinkie, and Pinkie is the weirdest pony around.
Now she sat in front of her marefriend's room and hoped. She could only hope that rainbow hadn't sustained a lot of permanent damage. But the way that Pinkie had taken so much damage, and she had the been the farthest one away from the blast, Dash probably sustained horrible damage to her body and mind.
That was when her thoughts were cut off by the voice of Nurse Redheart. "She's awake, but she is under the influence of many painkilling drugs, so don't be surprised if she isn't acting like herself." Nurse Redheart stepped aside the door as Twilight rushed into the room.
Twilight was in the room in ten seconds flat (Please dont kill me for that!) and next to Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow!" She said as she threw herself into rainbow, hugging her.
"Can't.....Breathe....." Rainbow weakly said.
Twilight backed off her marefriend quickly, blushed, and replied, "Hehe.. Sorry Rainbow. I'm so glad you're okay!"
"Yeah.... me too...." She could barely talk, Twilight guessed because it pained her to move her jaw.
Just then, when Twilight couldn't think of anything to say, Pinkie walked in. Her normally poofy mane was.... wait..... it looks like Rarity's...... Then Pinkie talked, she sounded.... different, not as cheerful, but happy, "Rainbow! You're awake!"
When Rainbow heard that voice and she saw Pinkie, she nearly chocked. She replied, with no problem, "Pinkie! What happened to you!"
Pinkie replied, "Well, you see-"
Twilight cut off Pinkie, "Pinkie, I'll explain it to her later."
Just then, Nurse Redheart walked back in to give rainbow some bad news...
She started to speak "Rainbow Dash, I have a full report on your injuries. Would you like to hear them now, or should I wait until you feel better?"
By now Rainbow was talking mostly like she was before the incident. She hesitated for a moment but eventually said, "I... I think I can handle it."
"Alright. Good news is, you haven't sustained much brain damage, however we do suspect you wont be able to remember anything longer than four years ago." She stopped for a second, allowing Rainbow to take in the information, then she started again. "Whatever you did also broke sixteen bones, half of which have somehow healed by now. It is a miracle that you are alive, but..." She stopped.
"But what doc?" Rainbow replied nervously.
"You may never be able to fly again..."
Rainbows eyes widened in complete and utter shock. Her jaw was as open as it had ever been, it really hurt her, but she didn't care. She hardly felt the pain. It seemed like an eternity while she was like that, but she eventually regained her composure and replied "S-so I'll n-never fly again?"
"Most likely not, but if somehow another miracle happens and you are able to fly for whatever reason, you will not be a very strong flier, at all." Redheart stated.
All of them went silent and then Redheart lef the room to let the three be alone. Rainbow tried to move her wings, but when she did she felt a horrible pain too severe for her to handle. Then she broke into tears, holding nothing back.
Twilight immediately tried to console Rainbow, "Now, now. It will be fine, I'm here for you."
Several minutes passed before Rainbow calmed down. "T-thanks Twi. I don't think I could l-live without you. Living without wings will be hard *sniffle* but as long as I'm with you, everything will be fine."
Twilight leaned closer to Rainbow, and closer, until their lips met. This kiss was not like any other they had shared, it was filled with far more passion and love than either had ever felt toward each other. They kissed for what seemed like eternity, which is how long both of them wanted it to last, but it ended when the door opened and Rarity walked in.
Rarity was shocked at the sight she saw. The tray of food she had been levitating in for Rainbow dropped as her jaw fell open and she lost all control of her magic. The tray came falling to the ground with a Thud. Then she said something, "Oh my! I'm terribly sorry to interrupt such a magical moment!"
The moment they noticed Rarity had entered the room, which was when the tray hit the floor, the two broke the kiss and blushed furiously. The weird thing was that Pinkie Pie had been silent through the entire thing, if she was still the old Pinkie, she would probably be planning out a party and yelling absolutely irrelevant facts about cupcakes and such. Rarity once again spoke, breaking the silence between the group, "Well, how long have you two been at it?"
Twilight replied to her, noticing Rainbow would probably be unable to, " Well, not counting the time we have both been injured, two weeks, counting the time we have been injured, four weeks. Oh and I have a question. Where is Applejack? She hasn't been here once to check on us since she helped Pinkie get us here."
Rarity hesitated at first, for an unknown reason, but continued. "She is still at the farm, she clearly has some free time on her hand but she doesn't want to come here. We can't find out why and we can't change her mind, I'm afraid."
What Rarity said made sense to Twilight and pissed her off quite a bit. Why wouldn't she want to see her friends in a time such as this? Wouldn't she want to know they were okay? Wouldn't she want to see us? She saw the condition Rainbow was in, why wasn't she here? Twilight finally spoke up, "I'll go talk to her, Pinkie will you and Rarity stay here with Rainbow and make sure she is fine?"
Pinkie finally talked, "Sure thing Twilight, you can count on us!"
Rarity simply responded, "Indeed."
