Enlightenment

Enlighten looked at Sweetie. He couldn’t figure out anything to say. She heard everything that he was yelling about. That was only supposed to be heard by him. If anypony figured out that he thought these things, he couldn’t think about it. Something was blocking the thoughts out.

“Are you ok?” Sweetie asked. “You’ve been limping the whole way.” “Yeah I’m fine.” Enlighten replied. “You expect me to believe that lie? I can tell you are trying to keep everything inside, but it doesn’t work with me. I can tell when a pony is lying like that.” “How are you able to do that?” “Oh, this alicorn spell isn’t anything much, oh you don’t have to worry about me yelling. It is kinda obvious.” “Trust me, there is nothing wrong.” “Sit down, I need to check something.”

Enlighten stopped and sat on the ground. He didn’t know why Sweetie Bella wanted him to, but arguing would just create issues. Sweetie was checking his fore-legs. She knew exactly what was going on.

“Ok, can you tell me if this hurts at all?” She hit the left leg, the exact one that was in pain to begin with, with as much force as possible. “AAHHHHH!!” The colt screeched in pain. “What was that for!?” He started yelling at Sweetie. “Yeah, you might want to get that leg checked.” “How exactly am I going to do that?” “Tell your parents.” “They wouldn’t care.”

“Why wouldn’t your parents care that your leg is injured?” “I don’t know. They just wouldn’t.” “Well, if you don’t, that could end up coming back to haunt you.

“We should continue finding the others.” “Wait, you brought everyone else with?” “Yeah, why?” “That’s what I was afraid of. They hate my existence.” “Well, if you just talked to them for once, they wouldn’t be so rude. Come on let’s just go.”

Twilight was already planning the trip back to canterlot. The spell would have to wait for another day. “Are you ready to go already? That was kinda quick.” Spike said to Twilight. “I can’t settle down. Something about that spell keeps throwing me off.” Twilight said. She went off into thought about what could make her so…. worried about one spell. Something must have not been right about it.

“Well we will have to go this afternoon. Celestia said to wait before coming.” Spike was saying. He was sure that they would be going at noon, right after lunch, but after sending the note, Celestia sent back, fifteen minutes later, to wait.

“Well, guess we will be stuck here for a while. It’s still ten o’clock. Any ideas about what we should do?” Twilight asked. She wanted to go to Canterlot to distract her from the spell. Something could be done there, and she still had a lot of work to do regardless.

“I got nothing.” Spike said. “Maybe organize the library. It’s a complete mess after what was going on all night.” “Right, let’s get to work right away.” Twilight said cheerfully. Finally, something to do.

Celestia still couldn’t figure it out. There were barely any books about this in her personal collection, and Luna didn’t know either. Luna just knew what the spells purpose was. She could only read so much.

“What should I do?” Celestia asked. No one was in the room at the moment. She was in a back room that she barely ever used, anymore. Not a single pony could know of this magic, yet.

“If I had some kind of specialist to help me with this.” Celestia was saying to herself. “I hope my plan to have Twilight run into the creator will work.” Last second plans most of the time never work. This had a slim chance, but could possibly work. If it didn’t, then may some force higher than herself have mercy on all of Equestria! That was the danger of this uncompleted spell. That is why she was worried.

Enlighten was still walking beside the filly that managed to not only find him, but see through all of his tricks. They also had no clue where everyone else was. “You know, your cutie mark is showing, right?” Sweetie Bell said. Enlighten stopped and looked at his cutie mark. For some reason, it was there. “Let me fix that real fast. I think I forgot the illusion spell.” Enlighten responded. He tried to cast the spell, but for some reason, it wouldn’t work. “Ok, let me try that again.” Enlighten said getting frustrated. The second attempt didn’t work either. Enlighten sighed and tested the spell on a tree that was next to the group of young ponies.

The spell was working fine that time. It is the cutie mark that can’t be hidden. “Never mind,” Enlighten said giving up. “It won’t work.”

“I think it has something to do with that alicorn spell you are using.” The filly said. “Why do you think that?” The colt responded with. That couldn’t even be possible. Could it? Something about a spell throwing another one off. It could be the problem, but the chances are so slim. “It worked on the cutie mark before, and it works just fine now. The only time it doesn’t work is when you are alicorn. Any other time, and it’s just fine.” “Ok, let me try turning back.”

Enlighten turned back into his normal form. The cutie mark faded away with the wings and soft glow. ‘Weird, the spell is working fine now.’ Enlighten thought. A simple spell was blocking out his other one. How was that possible?

“How did you know that would work?” Enlighten asked Sweetie. “I just took out all other possibilities. It worked with everything else, and when you weren’t in that form. It had to do with being an alicorn.”

“I think I hear the other two up ahead.” The colt said. Both of the young ponies walked slowly towards the noise they were hearing. The two ponies they were looking for, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo, were just about ten feet away.

“Ok, I know my way out.” Enlighten said looking back. “I think I will just head out and-” He was cut off by Sweetie Bell right away. “You came all the way here. Can’t you just come with us back to Ponyville?” Sweetie seemed to almost be whining. That didn’t work on Enlighten. Those cheap tricks were easy to get around. “Are you crazy? If they find out I’m here they wi-” Once again, Enlighten was cut off by yet another pony. This time Scootaloo. “Hey, there you two are. Where have you two been?” “We were going around, looking for you two.” Sweetie answered.

Enlighten just stayed quiet. One word and this whole thing can just end up in disaster. “What were you doing in here anyways, Enlighten?” Scootaloo ask. “Yeah. Don’t you know it’s dangerous just looking at this place?” Apple Bloom said. “I was just…” Enlighten started to answer. If he told the truth, he would end up dead. He needed some kind of lie. He just couldn’t come up with one.

“He was just going on a walk. Nothing special.” Sweetie answered for Enlighten. “And the yelling?” Scootaloo asked. “That’s why I was out here. I can’t be at my house. No one wants me around.” Enlighten said. It wasn’t an entire lie. That was good enough. “Can we just get outa here?” Apple Bloom interrupted. Being in here any longer was going to drive her insane. “Yeah, let’s go.” Enlighten said.

After showing the way for about ten to twenty minutes, Enlighten really needs a watch, they were out of the forest completely unharmed. “Thank you for showing us how to get out, but how often are you in there?” Apple Bloom said. “Three times a week.” Enlighten answered. “WHAT!?” Every one of the cutie mark crusaders yelled at once. “You actually do that?” Sweetie asked. “Yeah, why?” Enlighten asked. “You shouldn’t be in there at all.” Scootaloo said. “You went in there.” Enlighten said back. “To get you out of there! Why are you in such a dangerous place!?” Scootaloo started yelling at that point.

Enlighten ran off. No point being in that conversation if it’s going to get like that. “Where are you going!? GET BACK HERE!” Scootaloo was yelling towards Enlighten. ‘Just keep going’ Enlighten though. ‘Just keep on going.’
