The Story of Light

He opened the door, and let me in. Immediately, I saw some… Black, insecty looking thing, sitting in the corner, with holes, like swiss cheese, all over its hooves, and chitinous wings, and a long, curvy horn on its forehead. “... W-what’s that?” I asked Almaz, who was coming through the door with me. I swear, that thing must have extremely sensitive hearing, because I was whispering, and also halfway across the room, and it heard me. It turned to look at me, then squeaked and ran behind the couch, hiding behind it.

“... That, would be Jade.” he responded, seeing her(I assume it was a she, anyway) reaction to me.

“D-don’t hurt me!” she screamed at me, with sheer terror in her voice.

“W… why would I hurt you?...” She slowly poked her head over the top of the couch.

“Y… you m-mean you’re docile?...” I slowly nodded, and Jade jumped over the couch, going prone when she landed. “You mean, you won’t fight back?” At about this time, I started backing away from her, as she began crawling towards me; like a ocelot stalking its prey. “Nice… friendly… pony…” Jade licked her lips, staring at me, as if I was… Food. Unnerving, to say the least. She had almost reached me, as I felt myself bump into a wall.

Jade was upon me, ready to bite into my neck. I began to panic.

“Enough, off him.” Almaz said, and Jade did as he said; she backed off me, and sat down. “Light, this is Jade, my resident Changeling. Jade, this is Light, my new pet.”

‘Tell the whole world, why don’t you...’ I thought to myself.

“Pet? As in, that kind of pet?” she asked Almaz, and he nodded.

“Yes, Jade. That kind of pet.”

“H-hey, A-Almaz?...” I quietly asked, trying not to get attacked by Jade again.

“Hmm?”

“W-what do you mean by “that” kind of pet?”

“Oh, well… it’ll become clear soon enough.” he responded, with a small grin on his face. “Hey, what do you two say to having some dinner?” I nodded, suddenly feeling very hungry. Jade also nodded, seeming as eager to eat as me.
