Underground Terror
Chapter 1: The Beginning
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was past 12:00 at night in the quiet town of Appaloosa, everything was peaceful and so quiet. Out in the desert an earth pony stallion was running from what appeared to be nothing. He was frightened though and knew that it was there, following him. A couple feet away from the stallion the dirt rose like if something was pushing it up and it followed the stallion. The stallion was now at the apple orchards and was so close. He climbed up a tree and waited there while the dirt hit the tree, full on collision. The stallion tried to stay on the branch, but the branch broke and he fell. Hurt and in pain, the stallion laid there as the dirt came closer. The night was filled with screams as the Stallion was being eaten. Then the screaming ceased, the poor sucker was gone, never to see daylight again.
In the morning, everypony went their normal ways as the sheriff hanged up another missing pony poster. He was getting tired of this nonsense, "Dang it, we have to do something here, this is the twentieth missing this week. I'm trying my best to find the culprit and keep ponies away from that infernal desert, but now we need a plan. We gotta either get the princesses, which is not working, or the main six, the elements. Braeburn you got to get them."
Braeburn, Applejack's cousin, refused, "I don't want to put more ponies in danger, sheriff. I suggest we high-tail it out of here with the buffalo and head out to another town or city, it is too dangerous to live here now. What if the culprit is a, monster, a huge monster that loves eating meat."
The sheriff had thought this through and decided, "Alright, we head out in three days. Braeburn I want you to go get the buffalo and tell them that we all are gonna travel to a safer town."
Braeburn accepted and headed out to the buffalo camp. It took a couple minutes to get there, but he made it. What he saw was an empty camp, filled with nothing. It looked like they left, but their stuff was still there, old and moldy food too. Braeburn couldn't figure out why they would leave all their stuff here until he checked behind one of the tents. The sight he witnessed was horrific, remains of a buffalo was everywhere, but there was just one. It was the chief leader, dead with a fighting look on his face.
Braeburn took his hat off and waited a moment of silence for the death of the buffalo. Just then he heard a noise. Braeburn turned around and saw an injured buffalo child. Braeburn quickly picked her up and carried her to the town hospital back at Appaloosa. After the two left a small snake-like tentacle rose from the ground and then retracted back underground.
When Braeburn got back into town he quickly ran into the hospital with the buffalo child on his back. From then on the doctors took care of her. Braeburn then headed out to find the sheriff, but was met with ponies eyes filled with curiosity. One pony had asked what happened, another asked if the buffalo kid would be alright. Braeburn couldn't deal with this now so he quickly ran past the crowd and found the sheriff.
"Sheriff, sheriff. There's something you should know." called out Braeburn.
The sheriff was intrigued, also wondering why the only buffalo that came was an injured child. "Yes Braeburn, what is it?" asked the sheriff.
Braeburn took a deep breathe before starting, "Sir, we were too late, there was nothing at the buffalo camp, but remains of the leader. The remains were days, maybe Weeks ago. All that was left were the tents, moldy food, their stuff, and that injured buffalo child. Sir I think the culprit is not a killer, but beast on our hooves. Either we hunt it or leave."
