The Eye of the Storm Part 1
Sun was shining through the window as Twilight rose to see a bright morning awaiting her. She eagerly hops out of bed, waiting to see what the new day will bring. Spike was not sharing in her enthusiasm, and did not want to rise; this is expected of him though, and a bit of persuasion convinces him to get up and ready for the day as well.
"Spike, take a note, I want to get a head start on my letter to the Princess. Now that I am a Princess too I imagine she will expect even more than before of me."
"Uhhh.... why do you want to do more than you did before? So you got wings and are a princess now, you still have not changed any." replied Spike, rather annoyed by Twilight's overwhelming drive to please.
" And that is exactly what I need to change, Spike. In order for me to be a good Princess I need to change! So would you please... TAKE... A... NOTE!" retorted Twilight.
"Fine, fine! That is, if I can find my quill and ink...." said Spike, looking rather confused, as he could not seem to locate what he needed to take the letter in the first place.
"Spike, stop messing around. Your stalling won't get you out of writing this, so the only pony you are hurting with this is yourself." Twilight replied, not believing Spike could not locate his writing utensils. 'That lazy dragon is doing everything he can not to do this... I guess I will have to help him out with this.' She thought to herself. "Here, let me help, I am sure they are here somewhere." She looked all around her upstairs room, but try as she might, she could not locate the quill or the ink. "Well, they really aren't here, are they? Oh well, we will have to look downstairs then." she told Spike, more puzzled than anything else. She began to walk downstairs and search the bottom floor. Though she was very organized, she could not find the quill, nor the ink well anywhere. While searching, she thought she heard a faint roll of thunder in the distance, but she simply thought it as nothing more than a mischievous Pegasus causing a bit of trouble; it could have even been Rainbow Dash. "I don't get it!" Twilight said as she walked back up the stairs. " Where could it have gone..." Twilight cut off as she came to the top of the staircase, seeing all the items for writing letters lying neatly on the table as they were last night. In addition to them though, was a newly written letter, and not by her or anypony she knew. The letters were very large and nearly illegible, but she could make out: "When the storm must arrive, to Celestia you must fly." She was unsettled by this note, and wanted somepony else to give her an opinion on its meaning. "Umm... Spike, come and see this." she said in an anxious voice.
"What is it this time, Twilight?" asked Spike, more irritated than interested.
"Well, I found the quill and the ink, and also a letter that was not here before." replied Twilight nervously. Spike read the note, and looked disquieted and confused at the same time.
"But what does that mean? The storm? We have not had a storm in ages!"
"Well clearly this 'storm' has not happened yet. Come on, lets take this to Rainbow Dash and she if she knows anything about this storm." said Twilight. But as she tried to levitate the paper and move, it would not budge. She strained her magical power, but the note would not be affected by magic; it let off a shimmer of static when her magic broke around it. "Ok, now I am really worried! This note has some kind of enchantment on it; I can't move it with levitation! Maybe this one can skip my friends opinion's, let's send this one straight to Celestia to see what she thinks."
" Rodger that!" replied Spike. He took in a deep breath and burned the note, sending it on its way. But as his breath came to an end, the paper reformed, and let off the same static that it did before. "What, how is that possible?" Spike cried in fear.
"I don't know Spike, but it can't be good. Lets get together The Elements of Harmony and everpony else, we may need them." Just as Twilight finished her sentence, she heard a crack of thunder, and looked outside to see a dark and menacing storm brewing outside of Ponyville. Spike grabs the letter by hand and Twilight gets The Elements of Harmony, and they find the other five and tell them about what is happening. They all seem concerned and want to help until Twilight gets to Rainbow Dash, who reminds her that she can control the weather.
" I will get rid of that pesky storm cloud for ya' Twilight, after all, it can't be anything I can't handle." boasted Rainbow Dash, before flying off in the direction of the brewing storm. Twilight waited for some time, with no change to the advancing storm, until Rainbow comes flying back, stunned that she was unable to get rid of, or even manipulate the cloud in any way. With all of the six and their Elements with them, they travel to Canterlot to see the Princess, afraid of the increasingly violent storm behind them. By the time they reached her castle, the winds were whipping about all around them, and bolts of blinding lightning arched down from the sky to smash into the mountain beneath them. Even inside, the castle the walls did not drown out the beating of the wind and the crashing of the lightning. Twilight and company finally reach Princess Celestia, who already looks disquieted about the whole situation.
"Twilight, thank goodness you and your friends are here, I have a feeling we will need the Elements of Harmony soon; have you brought them with you?" inquired Celestia.
"Yes, we have, along with an odd note. It seems to be enchanted with some kind of spell, and magic does not seem to effect it." Twilight replied.
"Let me see it." commanded Celestia. She strained to lift the note, focusing all of her magic onto it, and with that, the note let off a large flash of blue light, and the enchantment was gone. "There, now that the pesky enchantment is taken care of, lets read this." Celestia said, clearly tired from the effort. "Well, whoever or whatever wrote this clearly wants us all to be in view of this storm, so we will have to see what it brings." Celestia said, sounding confident and unafraid. Not a moment after she finished speaking, a terrible bolt of lightning dropped down onto her balcony, leaving a seared and burned mark in its wake. Soon after followed another bolt onto the same spot, and then another, until the room was lit up from all of the subsequent strikes. It all ended in one second as a final, massive, blue bolt of energy smashed into the balcony, leaving not a scorch mark in its wake, but a full-blown Pegasus, streaming with blue energy. His mane with made from pure blue lightning, and his wings, hoofs, and tail all streamed with the same power. His eyes glowed the same color, with blue striking tendrils of energy leaking from his empowered eyes. His body was nearly jet black, and he seemed to be slightly larger than the average stallion. His face had features of Shining Armor, yet his body type was similar to Big Mac, or even the evil King Sombra. This frightening new being raised his head slowly, taking in all that was around him with a devious smirk on his face. "Who are you, and what do you want with us?" demanded Celestia in a powerful and orderly voice.
"I am Thundershock, the Lightning Stallion!" this new being yelled, unfurling his wings, releasing bolts of blue lightning into all the corners of the room. Twilight and her friends were not frightened by him, as they had the Elements of Harmony with them, but they were still impressed with his display of power. "I am Thundershock, and I want to..." he cried with a loud and powerful voice, preparing to issue his demands. "... introduce myself." he said, with that sly smirk now forming a full on grin. His mane, hooves, wings, and eyes stopped glowing and streaming their special blue lightning, and he regained the form of a normal stallion. The storm subsided as he let go control over it, and everypony was stunned to see also, that he was an Alicorn.
"You are an Alicorn!?!" questioned the whole group.
"But, how? You weren't born into a royal family, and you were not made into one by the Princess. Isn't that right, Princess?" Rainbow inquired of Celestia and Thundershock alike.
"No, I did not make him an Alicorn. The only two ponies I have granted that power to are Twilight and Cadence, for nearly mastering the magic that they were born to learn. Though there are other forces that can grant this power, though far more ancient and unseen." Celestia answered.
"Well, this seems to make sense to me. My magic, from what I can gather, is Power; I can assure you, I have indeed mastered the magic or Power. I can tell you my origin, but I do not know much about it myself, and what I do know is a tale for another day." chimed in Thundershock.
"I can not believe it. For all this time even I believed it was simply a legend, but now it seems to be true." Celestia said in a haunted voice. "An ancient power, long forgotten, has reawakened. The lost Element of Power was said to be nothing but than a myth, but that one day it would draw forth a new pony. An Alicorn that embodied Power. At long last, the Element of Power has chosen its champion..."
