Chapter 1-How It all Began

It was a normal day like any other for Michael. School was out for the summer, his projects were done, and his time was his own. He had planned a road trip with his best friend across country. With a few last minute preparations, he grabbed his special green glasses, his iPod and charger, and his camera, and headed out the door, got into his car, and went to pick up his friend, Manuel.
While, Michael was packing, Manuel, sat on his front porch, and was waiting when a thought hit him. Did he leave anything? He quickly riffled through his two backpacks to make sure he had everything.

"Let's see, computer, charger, headphones, clothes, drawing kit, flashlight, and my, 'Big Book of Equestrian History.' What am I forgetting?" Manuel said to himself.

As he pondered this, Michael pulled up and honked his horn to get his close friends attention.

"Hey you coming or am I going to the Grand Canyon and California on my own?"

Manuel looked up and smiled,

"Yeah I'm comin."
Within a few seconds, he was in the car and they were off.

After a few hours they decided to pull into a rest-stop on the Interstate, for obvious reasons. As they were getting back into the car, they heard a deafening sound that was like a shotgun and a car backfiring, with a hint of a cannon sound in the mix. When they were beginning to hear again, Michael decided to go check it out, while Manuel tried to stop him, but being his friend was as stubborn as a minotaur, he was really unsuccessful. As Michael left Manuel, said to himself,

"In the name of Celestia why does he never listen to me."
Michael ran until he saw what looked like a person running away, with a quick look behind him to see where, Manuel was he took off after the person. After a few minutes he lost sight of the man, Manuel caught up to Michael, and yelled at him,

"What were you thinking?! Running after a man who could of killed you, do you have a DEATH WISH?!"
Michael stood there in silence, as Manuel yelled at him. After a few minutes, Manuel calmed down and all Michael just said was, "sorry" and started back to the car, when rain started coming down, almost like he could never get a break. With a quick look around they found a cave and ducked inside, now normally the two would never go inside a dark cave, but it was pouring down rain so they had no choice.

A few more hours and the rain started coming down even harder and with a thundering, "CRASH!" a ton of mud, dirt, and rocks covered the entrance to the cave. Within a few moments the cave was pitch black, Manuel reached into his backpack that he was never without and pulled out his flashlight.

"Never hurts to be prepared eh?"
Michael ignored Manuel as he was lost in thought, mentally punching himself for dragging his best friend into yet another mess. Manuel saw the look on his friend's face on realized he was upset, so with a loud, "SMACK," he hit Michael and said,

"Whats your problem, Snap-Shot, you won't answer me at all?"
Michael looked at his friend and remarked,
"Sorry. It's just I know you are mad at me, Manual Control, and I think once this is over you are never going to want to speak with me again."

Manual looked at, Michael and laughed, "You really think just because we are trapped in some cave cause you went chasing some guy, I wouldn't want to talk to you or be your friend? Well normally you would be right, but we are more than friends we are best friends and also this could be a blessing in disguise." "How so? I mean we are trapped in a massive cave with the only entrance blocked." "Dude, think you're the geologist in this little group, and yet I know that massive caves such as this almost always have another way in further up mountains... Well let's go look around for another way out, come on Snap-Shot."
Manuel got up and headed for the other end of the cave not even looking to see if Michael was following him. He knew his friend would not allow him to be the only one to roam the caves as he was the more curious of the two. Not even two seconds later a voice yelled out, "Wait for me Manual!" After a really long time the two came to a place where they had to crawl and also almost as if it was a cosmic joke, Manuel's flashlight died.

"Now I know what I forgot, batteries."

"Just keep going this is very cramped in here. Sorry I don't deal well with tight spaces."
As they continued crawling they saw a light at the end of the tunnel, while they could not move any faster , they still moved as fast as they could. As they reached the top Manuel began singing, "I'm Coming Home" little did he know how right he was.
