Chapters Even Changelings Wear Masks
Spike yawned as sleeps grip loosened and let him back into the world of the living. He squinted as the light from the sun spilled into the room and blinded him momentarily. After awhile, he stretched and succeeded and popping a few joints in his spine, causing him to sigh in relief.
The sound of two ponies snoring lightly in their sleep reached his ears. He smiled lightly as he knew Twilight was sti-. Wait, two?
Spike looked over to Twilight's bed and froze as he not only saw it occupied by two figures, but one was the changeling queen Chrysalis. She was nuzzled up with Twilight, a small smile on her face as of she was having pleasant dreams. Twilight was similar and seemed to be the smaller spoon of the two. Chrysalis yawned slightly, her fangs just barely scraping across Twilight's neck, causing her to shiver.
"What the fuck is this?!" The two mares yelped and jumped up into the air, Chrysalis' mouth snapping shut and cutting Twilight's neck slightly. The two came back down and searched for the noise. Twilight gasped slightly as the pain from the cut came to her.
"Shit, your fangs got me." said Twilight as she placed her hoof on the wound.
"Crap, sorry. I wasn't aware you were that close." said Chrysalis, scratching behind her own neck. Twilight shook her head.
"It's okay, but if this happens every time you sleep with me because of a nightmare, you will sleep on the guest room."
"I said I was sorry."
"I'm aware you did. I'm just sa-"
"Can someone tell me why there is a fucking changeling queen in our house?!" Shouted Spike a second time. The two ponies just realized they had a guest and looked down. Their bodies were tangled together and they were suprisingly close to each other. The two turned a bright crimson and moved away from the other.
"I need to get the others." he said,backing up before running full force out of the door. Twilight tried to stop him with her magic but cried out in pain as her wound sizzled.
"Why does this hurt so bad?!" Cried out Twilight. Chrysalis grabbed onto Twilight and tilted her head to give her view of the wound. There was a small sheen of clear liquid on it the smelled acrid. Chrysalis ran her tongue over her fangs and sighed.
"I probably cleaned my fangs last night and the acid hasn't exactly cleared off yet. Either because I have so much crap on them or because my natural acid is diluted." said Chrysalis as she inspected the incision.
"Well, what do we do?" Asked Twilight, worried. Chrysalis chuckled.
"Well, it's not ideal, but I have to remove as you would venom." Twilight's eyes widened.
"So if they come before you finish..."
"It will look like I'm sucking your blood? Yes." said Chrysalis as she moved Twilight's hair out of the way.
"Vampire changelings?" Asked Twilight with a smirk.
"I vill suck your blood! Bleh bleh!" Said Chrysalis mockingly. The two laughed, sharing their own mirth for the first time. Chrysalis soon calmed down before slowly latching onto Twilight's neck.
Twilight gasped as the changelings cool lips touched her neck but relaxed as she felt the acid slowly leave her system and return to its rightful owner. It was a slow process, more likely due to it not staying in one area when it was dispersed.
Chrysalis came up every once and awhile to breath, small bits of blood from the wound sticking to her muzzle. Twilight was sure of the others came in Chrysalis wouldn't last more than a second before being attacked. She was starting to look like the part of vampire changeling.
"I'm almost done. Just a few more bits." said Chrysalis a few minutes later. She slowly went towards Twilight's neck as to not injure her. Her hooves were on Twilight's shoulder and head to give her more view of the wound. Her mouth was less than half an inch when the door was kicked open.
Twilight and Chrysalis were frozen in place as five mares and one drake stood in the rooms doorway, staring at them. Chrysalis slowly and carefully pulled back from Twilight.
"Listen, Twilight was accidently injected with acid. I need to remove the rest of it now before it gets too deep for me to extract." said Chrysalis slowly. The rainbow maned one that named herself as Rainbow Dash at the wedding squinted and flew in her face.
"Oh yeah, and why should we trust you?" Asked the Pegasus. On cue, the acid shifted, causing Twilight to cry out in pain and the wound to sizzle. Chrysalis waved a hoof at Twilight. Rainbow huffed.
"Fine, but I'm getting the rest out." said the Pegasus, she went to lean forward but Chrysalis stopped her.
"Do that and I would end up kissing you so you still have a tongue. It acid, not venom." said the changeling. Rainbow went to talk back but stopped. She huffed again and sat back. Chrysalis nodded and slowly leaned back to the wound. Like before, Twilight gasped at the coolness of the Changelings lips, causing the others to tense.
As she suckled, Chrysalis lit her horn and levitated bandages from the bathroom. She removed her lips and gave it a quick look over. After seeing there was no more acid, she started to wrap the wound carefully. She wrapped it around twice before cutting it off and fastening it with a bobby pin. She smiled as she finished.
"There you go. Vampire Chrysalis has saved you." Twilight laughed.
"Are you going to keep using that nickname for yourself?" Asked the lavender mare, adjusting the front of the bandages. Chrysalis smirked.
"Maybe. I was one for a few seco-". She was cut off by a blue blur tackling her to the ground. The orange mare named Applejack pulled Twilight away from Chrysalis.
"It's okay, Twi. We got ya." said AJ, pulling her away. Chrysalis grunted as a hoof contacted with her stomach.
"What are you doing to Twilight?" Asked Rainbow, keeping her pinned. Chrysalis gagged, her stomach wanting to vomit but it had nothing to vomit. She took numerous deep breaths before shaking her head.
"I....did...nothing." said the changeling in-between breaths. Rainbow growled and raised her hoof.
"Stop lying!" Rainbow brought her hoof down, though it never made its target. Rainbow's hoof was held in a lavender aura. She turned and found the others lifted in the air by the same aura with Twilight glaring at her. She yelped as she was lifted into the air and pulled away from Chrysalis.
"You alright?" Asked Twilight as Chrysalis struggled to stand.
"I have no clue. I want to puke but I can't. It's extremely painful." said Chrysalis, wincing as her stomach convulsed on empty space again. Twilight sighed.
"I have a theory on how to feed you but it will have to wait." Twilight looked up at her friends who were looking down confused at her. She sighed and shook her head.
"Chrysalis did not intentionally hurt me or does she have intention to. She is only her because she needs somewhere while she rebuilds. And no, Dash, I'm not under a mind control spell." Rainbow Dash closed her mouth and crossed her hooves.
"I still say its possible." mumbled the Pegasus.
"Rainbow, Chrysalis is hungry enough that she can't puke because there is nothing to puke out. She can't just use magic like that on whim." said Twilight.
"So are we just to believe she won't back stab us?" Asked Rainbow, glaring at the changeling who finally recovered.
"I did what I had to keep a race from dying. Obviously, I failed. When I left there was nothing I could do. By the time I get enough to feed them, I will be the only changeling left alive. Thus, I'm trying to rebuild." said Chrysalis, sitting back down on the bed.
"Well, how long were you trying to rebuild?" Asked Rarity. Chrysalis scratched the back of her neck.
"Um, I was going to start today. I was trying to find somewhere to stay and Twilight figured me out right away." said Chrysalis, blushing very slightly.
"Why didn't you ever tell us you could see changelings, Twi? That's so awesome!" Exclaimed Dash.
"Because the less ponies that know the better." said Twilight as she slowly set them down. "Now please don't attack each other."
"No promises." grunted Rainbow Dash as she settled on the ground.
"I can't do anything." said Chrysalis with a shrug. Twilight sighed and rubbed her temples.
"Okay, let's get some breakfast before we head out. Can you eat pony food?" Asked Twilight.
"It sustains me and gives me little energy, but yes. I can eat pony food." said Chrysalis with a nod.
"Alright. We will eat then head out and find you a job and home."
~~~~~~
An hour later found the seven mares walking out into the town of Ponyville. Spike stayed behind to watch the library but voiced his disagreement on letting Rarity within the reach of the changeling. Chrysalis found it sweet since she could taste the love in his voice even though others couldn't sense it.
"So, what exactly are you good at?" Asked Twilight, turning to the disguised mare. True Hearts put a hoof on her chin in thought before cursing.
"Shit, I forgot my ponysa." said Chrysalis. Twilight stared in belief.
"How could you simply forget something like that?" Asked Twilight. Chrysalis thought back to last night. They talked, Twilight went to bed, she laid there for a few hours sorting through feelings she discarded back at the wedding.....oh.
"I'm not exactly sure." said Chrysalis, blushing like mad. Rarity caught the blush and hummed thoughtfully. She resolved to ask Chrysalis some questions later even if it would be ones to cause that blush to return with a vengeance.
"So how do we find Miss Forgetful a job if she doesn't know her own talent?" Asked Rainbow Dash, crossing her hooves. The seven of them thought on the issue, trying to figure out the best place for a mare around her discription. Chrysalis looked around the area of town they were in to try and find a proper work place. One building, however, stood out and caused her to smile.
"What about the Orphanage?" Asked Chrysalis, grinning. They looked over to the gaze and read the sign stating that it needed a new head.
"It makes sense. True Hearts is caring and loving and what other place but an Orphange where she could take care of orphans who have nowhere to go but there." said Twilight with a smile.
"Don't you need certain paperwork to be able to work at an Orphange?" Asked Rainbow. Chrysalis coughed and suddenly was holding a bundle of papers in her hoof, seemingly coming out of the ground in a green flame.
"The joys of being able to manipulate and deceive." said Chrysalis with a small smile.
"Let's just hope those papers last long enough not to get you caught." said Twilight, examine them. She handed them back and turned to the others. "Me and Chrysalis can handle this. We will meet you later if you want. It will still be awhile before she will start working." said Twilight. The other elements nodded before leaving. The two left turned and looked up at the three story building with a sign in the front lawn saying 'Ponyville Orphanage' Chrysalis smiled softly. She never had her own children and always adored foals. In a way, she will now have a whole house of them.
The two entered the building to find it rather peaceful for the morning. The two walked further in, trying to depict where exactly the current head was. There was a door to their left that led to an empty room and a stairway on their right leading up to the next floor and more than likely the third as well. Straight across from the door was a pair of double doors where they could only guess was the dining room.
"Twilight? What are you doing here?" The two turned to see an orange filly walk down the stairs. Twilight smiled and waved while Chrysalis froze as she recognized the filly. If she remembered, she was one of the three flower girls and was sobbing in the corner during the attack. Chrysalis wanted nothing more than to apologize, but she couldn't risk her disguise so she just smiled and waved as well.
"Good Morning, Scootaloo. Still waiting?" Asked Twilight. Scootaloo shrugged.
"Yeah. Being flightless doesn't help but at least Rainbow Dash is helping. Oh, do you know if she is free?" Asked the filly, getting excited at the mention of the cyan Pegasus. Chrysalis could feel the adore the filly had for the elder Pegasus.
"I believe she does. Before you go, do you know where we can find the head of the Orphanage?" Asked Twilight. Scootaloo nodded and motioned for them to follow. The filly led the two through the double doors that actually led into a play area. There were three doors, one on each wall. One led to what appeared to be the dining room by the looks of the table, one emitted the delicious smell of breakfast, meaning that it was the kitchen, and finally one off to the right that was slightly ajar.
"She is in here. Speak clearly, she has bad hearing." said Scootaloo as she led them to the right door. After making sure the two knew where to go, Scootaloo ran off to find Rainbow Dash, for what reasons, Chrysalis knew not. Twilight raised her hoof and knocked.
"Come in." called a rough female voice from the otherside of the door. The two mares entered to find a pink wrinkled earth pony mare with a gray mane filling out paperwork at a mahogany desk in the center of the room. The mare looked up and smiled.
"Good morning, you two. Adopting or here to apply for head of the house?" Asked the mare.
"I'm here to apply." said Chrysalis. The mare nodded and searched through her drawers. She grunted slightly as she straightened back out, a small pile of files in her teeth. She set them on the table and pushed them forward for Chrysalis to examine.
"My name is Blossom, by the way." said the mare as Chrysalis took the paperwork in her rose aura. Chrysalis extended a red hoof.
"True Hearts." said Chrysalis with a smile. Blossom leaned forward and shook her hoof.
"You know, you are lucky." said Blossom as Chrysalis filled out the correct information, putting down the library as current residence since she had nowhere else to live. Chrysalis looked up at the mare.
"Oh? How so?" Asked Chrysalis.
"Well, Miss True, you have been the only one to apply in the last month that I've had that up. Not many ponies are as considerate." said Blossom sadly. Chrysalis shook her head.
"Well at least I have the heart enough." said Chrysalis with a smile. Meanwhile, Twilight was taking in the changeling's words. So far, Chrysalis has been proving most of her theories on changelings wrong. She meant those words. Chrysalis seemed warm and kind compared to the Chrysalis she met at the wedding. It caused her to smile at the disguised changeling.
Blossom took back the pile of papers and examined them. She flipped through a few before asking for Chrysalis' legal documents. Another few minutes went by when Blossom set down the documents and smiled up at Chrysalis.
"Well Miss True, all seems in order. What time can you start moving into the head of house quarters?" Asked Blossom with a smile.
"Right away. I don't have much for possessions, anyways." said Chrysalis. Blossom nodded and walked around the desk.
"Well, why don't we tour the building then I will leave you to pack. You can start tomorrow. Oh, and don't worry about taking days off or this taking up most of your time, there is plenty of staff to take up for you."
~~~~~~
"Well, that went well. Two birds with one stone." said Twilight as the two left the orphanage.
"True, but what about belongings? I have none. All I have is myself. She said there was a couch and a bed, but that's it." said Chrysalis. Twilight put a hoof to her chin.
"Well, we can shop now if you want for food. You feed on more than love and I doubt you will be drowning in it." said Twilight, directing them towards the market. Chrysalis shrugged.
"Sure, I guess. I already have quills and paper in the office but I'm going to need a personal supply. I also need saddle bags." said Chrysalis, making a mental check list. "And finally, reading material." Twilight's ears perked up at this.
"You love to read?" Asked Twilight. Chrysalis nodded.
"Yup. As well as write. Changelings have an instinctive imagination, thus our ability to create a ponysa on the spot if we need to. It can also be used as a hobby for more refined arts." said the changeling. Twilight chuckled.
"Only if I was taking notes. It would be nice to know so much about changelings." She said with a small smile. Chrysalis smirked.
"Maybe one night I can stop by the library and you can examine me any way you desire." said Chrysalis with half lidded eyes. Twilight blushed and looked away.
"Note to self. Changelings are skilled at seduction and are very....tempting." muttered the mare. Chrysalis heard this and chuckled slightly. She just found this mares gender of choice.
"Relax, I was joking. I will never do anything unless you want me to. Wether it be dating or throwing you onto the nearest bed and ravaging you through the night." said Chrysalis.
"I'm not sure if that's helping." said Twilight, looking back over her shoulder.
"Well, it's obvious you are interested in mares so it is always a possibility." said Chrysalis with a shrug. Twilight sputtered.
"How did you figure that out?" Asked the mare with a blush.
"I know love better than anyone else, well except Cadance, but still. I was able to tell which gender on the way you react, act, and talk around other mares. Even your posture helps." explained Chrysalis. The two were now entering the market. Twilight steered them to one of the stalls.
"You seem more relaxed and calm around mares as well as a bit flustered and shy. Stallions can hardly get anything out of you." said the changeling with a wave of her hoof.
"You were able to figure out my gender of preference just by watching me?" Asked Twilight. Chrysalis blushed and turned away.
"Of course. It wasn't that difficult." Chrysalis' blush did not go unnoticed by Twilight. The lavender mare smirked. She might have found the changelings gender of preference as well.
"Well, it seems I'm not the only one who prefers mares." commented Twilight. Chrysalis' blush deepened.
"I have no clue what you are talking about." said the mare. Twilight laughed before guiding her to the next stall. Meanwhile, a pair of green eyes watched from a bush across the square. They looked down at the ticket to Canterlot held in a purple claw.
"Hold on, Twilight. I will fix this."
Even Changelings Wear Masks
All things good come with a bad
It has been a week since Chrysalis joined the population of Ponyville and started running the local orphanage. While fitting in was simple, and finding friends was easier since she had Twilight, and later the other elements after some serious work, she still had yet to find a coltfriend or marefriend to help restart her race.
During her time there, Chrysalis kept a constant stream of love flowing to the injured. There was still around a hundred left and she wanted to keep them alive long enough to see if she can revive them. Sadly, their health has been getting worse and her stream was becoming a life support more than anything. She just hoped she could find a solution soon.
Chrysalis finished signing off on the last document in the pile of legal documents for the Orphange. She set down her quill and threw the document into the green fire in the fire place, sending it off to the station that was meant to receive it. Now, she had time to relax and make up that meeting she had with Twilight.
~~~~~~~
Spike read the letter sent personally to him from Celestia. He grinned as he read, patting himself on the back for achieving this much.
'Dear Spike,
Your report has seemed to be proving my concerns on her intentions true. I will be sure to come by the library later this evening to handle with Chrysalis personally.
Sincerely,
Princess Celestia'
"Soon, Twilight, you will be free and she will pay." said Spike.
"oh, I sure hope not." Spike froze at the familiar voice. He slowly turned around to see Twilight glaring at him. "Spike, I thought you trusted Chrysalis. I am not under any sort of control." said Twilight. Spike back up. He felt the edge of a rather thick tome brush against his hand. He winced as he prepared for what he was about to do.
"This is for your own good, Twilight." He said as he grabbed the edge of the tome.
"What are you tal-" There was a solid crack as the tome connected with the side of Twilight's head. Spike dropped the tome and caught Twilight before she could hit the ground.
"At least she is in the bedroom." muttered Spike as he set her down gently.
"Hey, Twilight, you home?" Spike chuckled as he heard Chrysalis' voice.
"Just making this easy for me, aren't you, you changeling bitch." Spike picked up the tome and walked back out into the library proper, padding quietly to avoid discovery.
Chrysalis, however, was on edge. She tasted hostility in the room, and the flow of love from Twilight was not present. The library's warm, comforting feeling was replaced by a hostile, foreboding feeling. Her feelings were confirmed as she heard something whistling through the air.
There was a solid thunk as the tome hit her square in the face, not knocking her out but dazing her. Chrysalis groaned as she laid on the floor. A purple figure loomed over her and picked the tome in his claws a second time.
"Why?" Was all she could spit out.
"Because I have to protect my mother." The book came down. Hard.
~~~~~~~~
Celestia stood in front of the library with a frown. She hoped that Spike had enough time to restrain the elements so she could successfully break the spell. She also hoped he survived capturing Chrysalis.
She sighed and pushed the door open to the library. The lobby was empty of life, confusing her slightly. Where exactly was Spike hiding them?
"Down here!" Celestia turned her head and found the basement door open. Cliché but simple.
Celestia made her way down the steps, ducking under the door way so she could enter. The room was lit by multiple candles that illuminated the seven figures in the room, one of them being a tall, slender, changeling queen.
What confused her though was that Chrysalis was awake and obviously had no magic suppressor on her horn. Instead, she stared off in the distance with a sad look. She didn't even flinch as Celestia entered. Celestia turned to Spike and gestured to the changeling.
"Don't ask me. She just sits there like she's just waiting to die or something." whispered Spike. Celestia looked back at her. It was a look you saw at the toughest of times and commonly in war. It was plastered on the faces of soldiers who were injured but had no way to get help. It was the look of a pony who gave up.
"We might as well wake up the others so we can begin." said Celestia with a sigh. Six buckets appeared above the elements before dumping down water onto each of them, waking them up from the shock.
"Not the dress!" Shouted Rarity. She looked around in confusion as she found herself not in her boutique anymore. Celestia raised an eyebrow at Spike.
"Hey, I wasn't going to hit her with a tome. That would never get me a chance." said Spike. Chrysalis scoffed.
"You have a problem hitting her with a book but not your mother? A little fucked up in my opinion." muttered the changeling. Spike glared at her.
"I did have a problem with it. I only did it so I could get rid of that spell you put on her!" Shouted the drake. Celestia watched as Chrysalis' head whipped around at the drake, her passive features turning into rage.
"I did not put any spell on Twilight." growled the changeling, hissing. Spike yelped and stepped back. Celestia kept a passive air even though she was surprised. Their were some theories behind her reaction. She had become close friends with Twilight, which is probably the case, or there were feelings that the changeling didn't even know about but pertained specifically around her student. This emotion was more than likely love.
"As much as I want to believe you, the magical aura round you is telling me different. I will ask you nicely to remove it." said Celestia. Another confusing event happened, Chrysalis was crying.
"I-I can't." said the changeling softly. Spike growled.
"Hurry up and drop the bucking spell." said the drake. Twilight gasped at his choice of words.
"Spike, language!"
"I don't give a damn about language! Now hurry up and drop the mind control Spe-"
"It's a life support!" Cried out Chrysalis, sobbing now. The room fell silent, Chrysalis' sobbing the only sound in the library basement.
"Life support for what?" Asked Celestia softly. Chrysalis cried for a few more moments before gaining enough self-control to speak.
"I-it's keeping the remaining fifty changelings alive. I-If I drop it, it would be instant death." said the changeling, trying to wipe her tears on her shoulder but failing. Twilight offered her own shoulder with a smile. Chrysalis muttered her thank and wiped her tears off on the lavender shoulder.
"But are you really helping them, Chrysalis?" Asked Celestia, sitting across from her.
"You can't really be buying this bu-"
"Spike, tell me if these tears are fake to you. I can tell when a pony is broken or hurt. Chrysalis is in pain and there is no reason for me to believe it to be lies." said Celestia, scolding Spike. The drake shrank back and went to the corner.
"Chrysalis, are you really helping them by keeping their release at bay? They want free of the pain, and death is the only release they can get." said Celestia, putting a hoof on the changelings shoulder. "I think its time you drop the spell." Chrysalis sat there, silently sobbing. After a few minutes, she nodded.
"I-I need something to put in my mouth." she said softly. Celestia nodded and levitated left over rope. Chrysalis opened her mouth to accept the rope into her mouth. She mumbled her thanks and lit her horn.
She bobbed her head once. Twice. Thrice. And screamed on the top of her lungs as fifty changelings died at the same time, a head ache forming in the forefront of her mind. Celestia stepped back at the sudden reaction. She knew it was instant death, but she didn't suspect it to be that quick. The elements looked over in slight worry as the changeling queen withered in extemely pain from the act of killing fifty changelings at once.
Chrysalis spat out the rope and started panting, tears running down her cheeks in a mixture of grief and pain. She took a deep breath to calm herself and settled back against the wall.
"Well, at least we can be certain you weren't lying." said Celestia as she saw no magic aura around the changeling meaning she no longer had any spells working. Chrysalis laughed slightly.
"Yeah, I guess." said the changeling. Her face contorted in pleasure. "Mnng~ That tastes wonderfully." cooed Chrysalis as she tasted the love from her food source of the last week. She completely forgot about her company, however, and Celestia raised an eyebrow.
"Who, exactly, are you feeding from?" Asked the sun princess. Chrysalis froze as she realized what she said. She couldn't reveal the identity of her food source. One, it would cause problems with the Princess, two her food source didn't know she was feeding off her. The poor mare would die of embarrassment. Thankfully, Chrysalis was skilled at creating ponysa on the spot.
"Just a stallion I've met over the last few days. I'm not controlling him or anything. And he doesn't live far from the library, actually." said Chrysalis with a smile, hoping the princess would not inquire further. She didn't.
Twilight didn't believe her, though. She knew from a few conversations that she had no interests in any of the towns stallions. She even said herself that 'They are smelly, overly rude, and all the nice ones are taken.' Besides, her gender of preference was mares, not stallions, so who was she actually feeding off of?
She opted to sit there and not say a word as they were untied. She did, however, slap Spike once her hooves were free. The moment her hoof connected with the side of the dragon's face the entire room fell silent. Spike stared up at her, tears forming in his eyes.
"I thought you learned to trust others judgment, Spike. It seems I was wrong." That was all she said. She turned and went to untie the others from their binds, letting Spike think on what she said.
"Well, it seems Twilight has some bite to her." said Chrysalis as she stood off the ground. Celestia nodded.
"It's a bit of a change from the shy bookish unicorn I remember. Living here has changed her a great deal. I think you helped." said Celestia with a smile. Chrysalis raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean by that?" Asked the queen. Celestia leaned close to the changelings ear.
"I know very well Twilight is the one you are feeding off of." said the princess. She giggled as she saw the blush on the changelings features.
"Yes, so?" Asked Chrysalis, trying to suppress her blush.
"Just don't hurt her." said Celestia, pulling away from the changeling. Chrysalis' face was now a deep crimson.
"We are not even dating. I don't even know if she knows she is giving off her love and who she is giving it to." said Chrysalis, waving it off with a hoof. Sadly she forgot Celestia was not so easily fooled.
"We both know that's not true. You know very well who it is going to. And it's you, am I correct?" Chrysalis blushed and nodded. Celestia chuckled and placed a hoof on the smaller alicorn changeling's shoulder.
"I won't meddle in who my student and considered daughter chooses to love, but I will interfere if the one she loves causes her pain. All I ask is you treat her right." said Celestia. Chrysalis looked over at Twilight who was helping a sobbing Fluttershy on the otherside of the room.
"I will. I'm just worried how she will take to loving and being in a relationship with an immortal being. I don't even know if she knows I'm immortal." said the changeling, watching the lavender mare care for Fluttershy.
"I'm sure she will understand and love you no less. I suggest you sort your feelings tonight and make a choice." said Celestia. She removed her hoof and turned to the rest of the group, raising her voice once again. "I am sorry for the confusion, my little ponies. I will be on my way back to Canterlot. Elements, Spike, Chrysalis, fare well." Celestia walked back up the staircase and made her way out to her awaiting chariot. Chrysalis chuckled little as she watched the princess struggle through the door.
"I now know why the guards always called her sun butt." said the changeling with a smirk.
"Well that's not nice." Chrysalis jumped and saw Twilight standing next to her, smiling.
"I just heard from the other guards." said Chrysalis with a blush. Twilight giggled, the love output from the mare increasing. Chrysalis had to keep her eyes from rolling back in bliss.
"I know. I heard from my brother and a few other guards during my stay at the castle. I got used to it." said the lavender mare. Chrysalis smiled and looked back at the rest of the ponies. Fluttershy was sobbing in the corner while the other elements tried to soothe her. Meanwhile, Spike kept muttering apologies off in the corner.
"Holy shit, did I cause a mess." muttered Chrysalis as she examined the room.
"It's not all your fault, you know. You could have never known this was going to happen." said Twilight, placing a hoof on the changelings shoulder. Was this pony trying to drown her in love?
"Yeah, um, uh, we should probably help calm down Fluttershy." said Chrysalis awkwardly, walking over to the canary Pegasus, Twilight behind her.
~~~~~~~~
Chrysalis sighed in relief as she sat down on the couch in the living area of the library. It took a lot of effort, but they were finally able to calm down the sobbing Pegasus and find out she was utterly scared since Spike nearly hit her with a tome. He must have been desperate considering she was the most sensitive of the group.
With the library empty except for Twilight, Chrysalis, and Spike, the library was back to its semi-normal self. Well, close to normal. Chrysalis was about to head back to the Orphanage but the dying light was enough for Twilight to refuse to let her leave and force her to stay at the library, much to the queens dismay.
"I'm not going to let you walk out when it's dark so you might as well get comfortable. You can sleep with me." said Twilight as she guided the changeling up the stairs. By now, Chrysalis was trying to suppress her blush and slow her heart beat. This beautiful mare who may or may not know she loves a changeling is inviting her to sleep in her bed with her. If Celestia truely had the ability to watch her subjects from the above, she would be rolling in laughter at the changelings situation.
"That's alright, I will just spend the night in the guest room." said Chrysalis, getting ready to enter said room. However, she already found it occupied by Spike. The drake was just getting under the covers.
"I get the guest room for a week." said the drake with a shrug.
"How is this punishment?" Asked Chrysalis. Twilight smiled and leaned next to her ear.
"He has nightmares often and still climbs into bed with me. He tries to deny it but its true." said the lavender mare. Spike frowned, seeming to have heard.
"That is not true!" protested the drake, crossing his arms.
"Denial doesn't make it true." sang Twilight, closing the door and prancing away up the stairs, giving Chrysalis full view of her swaying flank.
"God damnit, this mare is going to be the end of me before I can even ask her out." muttered Chrysalis, her cheeks deep crimson and a small trickle of blood flowing down her nose. She wiped it off and followed.
"Don't mind the piles of papers. I've kinda been researching changelings for awhile and it gets out of hand sometimes," said Twilight as they entered her room. She wasn't kidding. Books on what she suspected to be on changelings littered the desk and floor around it alone with stacks of paper and notes and a few broken quills. On the top of one stack was a pair of purple reading glasses. Chrysalis' aroused mind went to work with that little piece of information and created a 'sexy librarian' looking Twilight in her mind. Complete with loose fitting dress shirt and glasses.
'No! Bad! Bad perverted mind! We aren't even dating. No sex till them.' scolded Chrysalis. She was certain now she was going to need to 'relieve' herself when she got home later after making sure there where no foals hiding around and her door was firmly locked. No need scaring them.
"Well, hope on in." said Twilight as she got under the sheets. Oh how tempting it was to pull this sexy mare into a kiss. And no matter how prevented your mind is, I will not place clop in here. You have to ask and that will be a completely different story/one shot.
Continuing on, Chrysalis turned deep crimson as she got under the sheets with the mare. Once both were settled, the lights were snuffed out. It felt a lot like her first night in the library, albeit she wasn't running from her nightmares anymore. And for some reason, it felt more warm, more comfortable. She had no idea why, but she just was more relaxed.
"Chrysalis?" The changeling turned her head to face the lavender mare. Their muzzles were nearly inches away.
"Um, yes Twilight?" Asked Chrysalis, blushing slightly.
"You know, don't you?" Asked the mare. So she did know full well who it was she loved. Chrysalis bit her lip and nodded.
"I have for about a week. I didn't say anything because I thought you didn't even know. I thought it was just a passing phase and you would soon find another mare and focus on them, knowingly or not." said the changeling. Twilight sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
"I was confused at first. I could get being friends with you, but how could I possibly fall in love with you. We've met only once before yet here I was, falling for you. I thought it was a spell for the longest time, but now I know it was just life support for the remainder of your hive.
"I kept it away. Probably thinking you would just laugh and turn me away. I guess being as shy and shut in as I am makes you automatically afraid of rejection." Twilight played with the end of the blanket, examining her hooves working away at it. "It was obvious you knew after that whole 'feeding off some stallion' deal. We both know you despise half the stallions in this town."
"Dirty pigs." muttered the changeling. The two shared a laugh. For Twilight, being able to come out was relieving. It got the weight off her shoulders, albeit having a new one placed there instead. She planned of moving that one next.
"Chrysalis, would you ever date me? I mean, actually date me and love me? Not just to make me feel better." Chrysalis' mind froze. She was still sorting her own feelings and this question was dropped on her. Not exactly the best situation. Her only choice was a quick skim.
It was obvious she thought Twilight as sexy, telling on how she had a nosebleed courtesy of the lavender mare not that long ago. Her older feelings still saw her as this smart, beautiful filly who seemed to love to learn from what she gathered from Celestia when she was disguised as Cadence.
"I would. But there is one question I must ask, Sparkle." said Chrysalis, turning her entire body to face the mare. Her face grew sad as she looked over the mare and prepared to ask the question that has kept her back for the last while.
"Can you love somepony who will live far beyond your death?" Asked the queen. Her emotions were just getting a work out today. Twilight thought for a moment before she caught what she meant. Twilight's expression saddened a moment before a warm, yet sad smile graced her features.
"Well, I guess I will just have to make every moment count." A thoughtful expression crossed her face. "In theory a normal unicorn lives for close to a hundred years. I'm twenty-four so that leaves me with seventy-six years to live with Chrysalis, but also have to take in consideration magical use as well as-" Chrysalis smiled and leaned her head against a hoof, watching the mare go on full lecture mode over a simple subject most would cast aside. Twilight caught herself and blushed.
"Heh, sorry." said the librarian, her cheeks crimson. Chrysalis laughed, leaning forward and kissing her below the horn.
"You are undeniably cute when you ramble on, and impossibly adorable when embarrassed." said the queen with a smile. Twilight's blush deepened, causing Chrysalis to grin. "See?"
"Smart-ass." said Twilight, shoving her lightly. Chrysalis stuck her tongue out and layed her head on the pillow.
"You do know we now have to come out to five mares who are still somewhat weary of me and a drake that still despises me, right?" Asked Chrysalis. Twilight shrugged.
"It has to happen sometime. It will be hard to hide anyways." said Twilight. Chrysalis chuckled.
"We can't be that obvious."
"We can't go a minute without causing the other to blush madly."
"Yes we can." said Chrysalis with a huff.
"The last time we were in bed together you wrapped around me like a filly would her mother." said Twilight. Chrysalis blushed.
"That doesn't count! You did it on purpose!" exclaimed the mare. Twilight smirked.
"But I proved myself right, didn't I?" Chrysalis turned a brighter crimson and stammered. She huffed and crossed her hooves.
"Damn your clever brain." Twilight stuck out her tongue and curled back up under the covers, nuzzling up to Chrysalis who went ahead and wrapped her hooves around the smaller mare.
"Please tell me this isn't something that will disappear once I wake up." said Twilight, starting to drift off. Chrysalis hugged her close and kissed her forehead.
"It's not."
~~~~~~~~~~
"Quiet!" Said Scootaloo in a hushed voice as Apple Bloom went to close the door behind them, causing it to squeak. The earth pony filly smiled sheepishly at her Pegasus friend.
"Come on, Scoots. Let's hurry up and find this True Hearts so we can head back and sleep." said Sweetie Belle, wiping the sleep from her eyes from being pulled out of bed late at night. Scootaloo rolled her eyes and travelled further into the library.
"Why do ya think she is in 'ere?" Asked Apple Bloom as they went further.
"I saw her come the library earlier and never come out. Odd thing is, Princess Celestia came earlier and then left, Miss True still not coming out." said Scoots. She shook her head. "It just don't feel right. I will figure out what's going on." The other two crusaders nodded.
For the next half hour, the three searched the library as quietly as possible, even venturing into the dark basement but finding nothing. Finally, they were left with the two bed rooms of the house, the guest room and the master bedroom.
"She has to be in here." said Scootaloo, standing infront of the guest room door. She set a look of determination on her face and reared around, ready to kick in the door. Sweetie, however, stopped her before she could kick open the door.
"Scoots, we don't know if something is actually wrong and she isn't just staying the night, it would be rude for use to wake her up this late." said the white unicorn. Scootaloo prepared to argue, but found her to be right.
"Fine, we will open it quietly." said Scootaloo with a sigh. Sweetie Belle smiled and grabbed the door knob in her faint aura. She carefully and quietly turned it until it was free to open. The three stuck their heads in once Sweetie had the door open enough.
However, instead of finding a red mare in the bed, they found a snoring Spike, his butt in the air as his head was laying on the pillow in front of him. Not exactly the best sleeping position in the world. The three slipped out of the room and closed the door.
"Well, where is she then?" Asked Apple Bloom. Sweetie Belle rolled her eyes.
"Duh, the only room left." she said, pointing to Twilight's room. They looked at each other and nodded, ascending the stairs as quiet as they could manage, hoping not to alert any of the library's residents. Finally, they came to the red door that marked itself as the entrance way to Twilight's room.
Looking inside, the three found it to be a regular Twilight cave. Tons of books, notes, quills, papers all over the floor, a changeling sleeping in the bed with Twilight, an embarrassing picture of Spike at Hearth Warmings Eve....wait, a Changeling?!
The filly's had to keep themselves from screaming as they saw the figure of a black insect creature they could easily place as a changeling. They could even tell by its features to be none other than Queen Chrysalis, no less.
Slipping out of the room and slowly backing down the steps and out of the library all together, the three made it a safe distance away from the library, still staring at it in shock and horror.
"What the hay was she doing in there?!" Asked Scootaloo. Sweetie Belle shook her head and looked back up to the bedroom window.
"Seeing as we couldn't find this 'True Hearts' mare, I say she is true hearts." said Sweetie.
"What was she doing with Twi, though?" Asked Bloom. Scootaloo stomped on the ground.
"She probably brainwashed her and Spike and is feeding off of them!" Accused the Pegasus. The other two nodded their agreement.
"What should we do then?" Asked Sweetie. Scootaloo scoffed.
"We go to the police officers house and save Twilight."

The sound of door being kicked in was not Chrysalis' favorite way to wake up in the morning. A quick look at the clock proved that it wasn't even two in the morning. Telling by the groaning sound next to her Twilight was woken up by the intruding sound also.
"What is it?" Asked the groggy mare, trying to rid her eyes of sleep.
"If you mean the time, it's *yawn* 1:55 in the morning. As for the noise, I got no clue." said the changeling. The two decided to leave Spike to investigate and curled back up into the bed sheets. Sadly, sleep was not going to come.
The two yelped as the bedroom door was kicked open. A group of close to twenty local guard bursted into the room, well armed and horns glowing with prepared magic. Chrysalis sat up on the bed with a shocked and horrified expression. Twilight had a similar expression as she hid behind Chrysalis.
"Changeling Queen Chrysalis, we demand you release your control of resident Twilight Sparkle and come with us quietly." said the leader of the group. Twilight stepped off the bed and out in front of her mare friend.
"I am not being controlled. Am I right to guess you have a spell to detect this?" Asked Twilight, knowing the answer. The whole while she stood in front of Chrysalis. Chrysalis however, was not liking the situation. She guessed the guards also knew the spell to sense hidden spells on ponies from changelings. Sadly, this did not work in their favor.
"Detain the changeling and find a counter for Twilight." said the lead. Twilight gaped at them.
"What?! But-"
"Twilight, there actually is an aura around you." said Chrysalis. Twilight whipped around and stared at her. "It's an after effect from coming in contact with my saliva." said the changeling.
"So this is all because you kissed me?"
"More or less." said Chrysalis as shackles were placed on her hooves and a magic suppressor on her horn.
"That's a first date thing, you know. I like long walks on the beach, my favorite food is love, oh, and it looks like I'm controlling you after we kiss." said Twilight as she was similarly bound.
"Well I wasn't predicting the guard to knock down the door while we are sleeping. Besides, I thought Celestia was okay with me. Why is there a good amount of guards in your house then?"
"Local guard. It's our police system in Equesteia. They don't report to Celestia right away." said Twilight as the two were guided out of the building. The three cutie mark crusaders were standing outside of the library waiting. Each one with a proud grin on their muzzles.
"Remind me to have a nice long talk with your sisters when I get out." said Twilight to the three. "Send Princess Celestia letter saying we were arrested, please." she said, turning to Spike who was dragged out of bed during the invasion. He saluted and ran off inside.
"Well, now we have a story to tell. 'Our first date was in a small cell in the Ponville Pen.'" said Chrysalis with a smirk. Twilight rolled her eyes.
"I wonder who helped get us in there." said Twilight as they loaded into the back of the chariot.
"This beautiful and sexy changeling named Chrysalis." The two broke out in laughter.
"Out of all the ways to spend our first night together, we spend it in a jail cell and we don't even care." said Twilight, shaking her head. Chrysalis chuckled and nudged the librarian.
"Why would we complain? We get a cell to ourselves for a few hours so..." The chariot came to a halt, causing Chrysalis to land on top of Twilight. "Hey, slow down, now." said the changeling with a smirk. Twilight blushed and pushed Chrysalis off of her.
"Perv." Chrysalis smirked and pecked the mare on the muzzle.
"You still love me."
"Of course," She pushed the changeling off of her and rolled to her side. "I just didn't need to get turned on while we are being hauled off."
"Why did we stop, anyways? I've been in this town long enough to know we aren't that close to the jail." said Chrysalis, rolling onto her stomach.
"That would be because I asked them to stop." The two ponies jumped and saw Celestia open the chariot door, a small smile on her face.
"Damn you are fast." said Chrysalis, watching as one of the guards that arrested them earlier worked to undo her shackles. Another was doing the same to Twilight. Chrysalis sighed happily as the shackles were dropped onto the floor of the chariot and the magic suppressor removed from her horn.
"Yes, well, it wouldn't be fair of me to let you be wrongly accused while in your current predicament." said Celestia, moving aside to let them walk out onto the street once more. Chrysalis saw that multiple lights were beginning to switch on and decided it prime time to switch to True Hearts.
"A bit ironic, considering you are a changeling and you work at an Orphange." commented Celestia, looking over the guise. True Hearts shrugged.
"It works, as long as Scootaloo keeps her mouth shut and doesn't tell the others that the head is a changeling. I would be thrown out before I know it." said Chrysalis with a shrug.
"Well, I could always get an extra assistant at the library." said Twilight, smirking. Chrysalis waggled her brows.
"What kind of assistant?" Asked Chrysalis. Twilight leaned forward to kiss her until a cough brought her back to reality, causing her to blush.
"I'm guessing you made your move, Chrysalis?" Asked Celestia, turning to the blushing changeling. Chrysalis shook her head.
"Um, no, actually. It was the other way around." said Chrysalis, her blush deepening. Celestia chuckled.
"I'm actually quite surprised. Twilight was never the one to go seeking relationship." said Celestia. Now it was Twilight's turn to blush and turn away. As her mirth went down, Celestia grew serious.
"Chrysalis, you are still hated by many. I will try and keep the local guard off of your back, but I suggest you take precautions to keep yourself safe and hidden." said the solar goddess. Chrysalis nodded and looked back up the road to where the library is. Four silhouettes rushed towards them, no doubt the Cutie Mark Crusaders and Spike. She sighed and shook her head.
"I have a feeling those three are going to be a pain in the ass." Muttered Chrysalis. Twilight nodded.
"At least you made friends with their sisters, well, two of them at least." said the librarian.
"Do you know if Dash is still stopping by tomorrow? I have the paperwork set up." said Chrysalis, talking in a hushed voice as the three fillies neared them.
"She is. She probably won't be on time but she'll be there. And it's today, not tomorrow. Remember, it's two in the morning." replied Twilight. By now, the three fillies reached them, two of them bowing to Celestia while Scootaloo glared at Chrysalis.
"So I was right! You are a changeling!" Shouted Scoots. Chrysalis cursed and looked around to make sure no pony heard that.
"Hush, child. I do not need to be fired." hissed Chrysalis, keeping her voice low.
"Why not? You're a changeling! And that's probably not even the Princess!" said Scoots, pointing at Celestia. The goddess laughed.
"I assure you, young Scootaloo, I am Celestia. As for Chrysalis, she means no ill will, I made sure of this earlier today myself. She is simply living a quiet life and rebuilding her extinct race." said the princess.
"She told them a bit too much, don't you think? I don't think they needed to know I'm the last changeling." said Chrysalis, whispering into her lovers ear. Twilight shrugged.
"Can't really say too much. She knows what she is doing. She has been alive longer than us, she has more expirence." said Twilight. Chrysalis bit her lip at that. In all actuality, her and Celestia aren't too far apart in age. Chrysalis was born a few years before the banishment of Nightmare Moon. It was only five hundred years since her mothers death and her rise to the throne, and her most stupid mistake ever.
"Only by a little bit." admitted Chrysalis. Twilight rolled her eyes.
"Still don't care that you're immortal. It just means I like older mares." replied Twilight, smirking at the changeling queen. Chrysalis blushed, which is starting to be a common occurrence now, and turned her head back to Celestia, who was now explaining how she was actually Princess Celestia and not some Changeling. The three filly's around her stared in awe as she recounted the Gryphon War.
"Alright, Tia. I think that's enough of a history lesson. You are Celestia, we get it." said Chrysalis, chuckling. She turned to the three fillies. "Now, I think you three need to head on home. Scootaloo, I expect you in my office tomorrow morning."
"Yes, Miss True." said Scootaloo, her ears splaying back. Chrysalis smiled and leaned forward so she was level with the filly.
"You're not in trouble, it's okay. I just need to talk with you about a few things, and give you a present." said the changeling. She stood and looked down at them. "And you can call me Chrysalis when in private, alright?" They nodded before running off. Chrysalis sighed.
"I am going to enjoy the remaining hours of sleep until I have to wake up for work." Twilight laughed.
"And I'm going to enjoy our first date tomorrow." said Twilight, kissing her on the cheek. Chrysalis turned a bright shade of crimson and smiled slightly. Celestia giggled at the sight. It truly was heartwarming to see her usually shut in student open up and accept someone as Chrysalis who has had such a rough life.
"I think it is wise for all of us to turn after an eventful morning. I will see you two again sometime soon." said Celestia. She turned around and leaped into the air, propelling herself forward with a powerful down thrust. The couple watched as the solar goddess flew off into the night.
"I suppose we can't go back to snuggling in bed can we?" Asked Twilight. Chrysalis shook her head.
"Nope. I have work in the morning to prepare for Scoots and we are pretty much right in front of the Orphanage." said the changeling with a sigh. Twilight pouted.
"That's no fair. Just as soon as I got used to sleepy next to you." said the lavender unicorn.
"Stop it! I swear that face is militarized." said Chrysalis, putting a hoof over her face to block off the military grade pout that Twilight was aiming at her. The lavender mare pouted harder before sighing and giving up.
"Fine, but you better make tonight worth it." said the unicorn. Chrysalis rolled her eyes and pecked the mare on the nose.
"I will. Now, head home and get some sleep. We got one hell of a day ahead."
~~~~~~~~~
Chrysalis yawned as her alarm clock went off. She swatted at the evil device that interrupted her sleep with a hoof, managing to send it across the room. She smiled as she heard it break against the far wall of her room. At least she would get a few more ho-
"Good morning Miss True!" Chrysalis groaned and sat up to snap at them. As she sat up, a lock of jade hair fell into her eyes and the sight of three foals staring at her greeted her. She looked down to see that her disguise fell and she was once again in her true form. Taking a deep breath as to not freak herself or the foals out, she spoke.
"Alright, I'm going to ask you politely not to scream so I can explain this, alright?" Asked Chrysalis softly. Three heads nodded slowly, not looking away from her.
"My name is Chrysalis, former queen of the changelings. I am the last one of my kind. I'm in Ponyville to feed myself and restart my race. I am working here just so I have somewhere to live. I mean absolutely no harm. But, I need you to keep this between yourselves and no pony else, alright?" They nodded again. Chrysalis sighed and smiled at them. Transforming back into True Hearts, she got out of the bed and made her way towards the bathroom.
"Miss Chrysalis, whatever happened to the real Miss True?" Asked a small blue colt. Chrysalis smiled softly.
"She never existed until I made her exist. I created her when I needed a disguise to come into town and that's how she was born. Either than that, she does not exist." said the changeling. The three foals smiled, obviously finding her entertaining. She smiled as well. It was better than them screaming bloody murder and running away in the opposite direction.
"You can create your own pony? Cool! How many have you created?" Asked a purple filly, a few shades darker than Twilight. This one was a unicorn as well.
"I have lost count after my hundredth birthday." replies Chrysalis, brushing out her hair a decent amount before she was to climb into the shower. She could see the foals staring at her in awe in the mirror.
"You're over a hundred years old?! How old are you?" Asked the purple filly.
"I am around one thousand and five years old." said the changeling queen. The foals stood in awe, causing her to smirk. "Now, I have to take a shower and you need to get ready for breakfast. Remember, don't tell anypony. Oh, and tell Scootaloo she needs to see me in my office after breakfast if you see her."
"Yes, Miss True!" Said the three in unison before skipping out the door. Chrysalis chuckled. Foals were always a delight to have around, and she had an entire three story building full of them.
After taking a quick shower and brushing out her mane into its usual pony tail that True Hearts was known for having it in, Chrysalis made her way down the stairs. Not even half way down and she could hear the laughter of foals and smell the beautiful breakfast that one of the employees at the orphanage cooked up. She may feed on love, but she still needs actual food.
"Good morning, madam True." Chrysalis turned to see a yellow earth pony with a dark green mane smiling at her.
"Good morning, err, sorry. Still trying to remember everyone's name." said Chrysalis with a sheepish smile as she drew a blank on the mare's name. The mare chuckled.
"That's alright, Madam True. Everypony just calls me Miss Chef. A bit masculine but I got used to it." said the mare.
"I doubt you were named Chef." said True. Chef shook her head.
"Nope. According to the doctors I suffer from amnesia so I don't remember much about myself outside of the last year. Chef is what they called me when I became part of the cooking staff here." said Chef. True chuckled.
"Well, good morning to you too, Chef. And breakfast smells wonderful. I would eat but I have lunch later today and I have an appointment with Rainbow Dash here soon." said True.
"Ah yes. Well, I wish you luck, Madam True. And try to eat something, you here?" Said chef. True chuckled and nodded.
"Of course." True made her way through the play room and into her office, closing the door behind her. Chrysalis took the moment of freedom to drop her disguise and lean back into her chair. She could just tell it was going to be one of those days.
"Yo, true, ya in there?" Called out a raspy female voice. Chrysalis sighed and turned back into True, even if she was going to change back as soon as the door closed again.
"Yes, Rainbow Dash. Please come in." said True, putting on a weak smile. The cyan mare walked into the room, closing the door behind her. Once it was closed, Chrysalis let out a breath and dropped her disguise.
"Rough morning?" Asked Dash, sitting across from her at the table. Chrysalis weakly nodded.
"Like you wouldn't believe. I had to explain to a group of foals that I meant no harm because they barged into my room while I was sleeping out of guise." said Chrysalis, rubbing her temples.
"So, dodged the bullet and made it through the morning? Seems like a decent start." Chrysalis chuckled.
"Not really, I have to survive my date with Twilight first, then I'm in the clear." said Chrysalis.
"You asked Twi out?" Asked the mare, raising an eyebrow. Chrysalis shook her head.
"Nope. She asked me out. Saved me the stress and freaking out before hand." said the changeling with a grin.
"Nice. Any plans?"
"Dinner, maybe a walk around town. Nothing too special."
"That's soo boring." complained Dash. Chrysalis smirked.
"Then we will venture upstairs after kicking Spike into the guest room..."
"Okay, I do not need to hear how you plan on getting laid tonight." said Dash, causing the changeling to break out in laughter.
"I'm just messing with you. Though I might stay the night. I'm just hoping it doesn't go bust." There was a knocking at the door, causing Chrysalis to switch to True in a quick flash.
"Come in." called out True, handing Dash a sheet of paper and a quill as she did so. The door opened to reveal an orange filly that was known to be Scootaloo. Again, Chrysalis dropped her guise once the door was shut.
"Good morning, Chrysalis, sup, Rainbow Dash?" Said Scootaloo as she entered. Rainbow Dash grunted her reply as she finished signing off her name. She nosed the paper over to Chrysalis and spat out the quill. Chrysalis took out another quill and finished filling it out.
"Sup, squirt? What ya up to now a days? Getting good grades?" Asked Dash. Chrysalis smirked. This was going to work out perfectly.
"Um, yeah, I guess. Why do you want to know?" Asked the filly.
"Because she is now legally your mother." said Chrysalis, finishing off True Heart's signature with a flourish of the quill. She levitated the finished to the filly so she could read it.
"Y-You mean she adopted me?" Asked Scootaloo, her eyes growing big.
"Yup. Got enough income to take care of you and in some way it's to make sure she doesn't make you into a feeding sack." said Dash, pointing a hoof at Chrysalis. Chrysalis stuck her tongue out at the mare.
"That's what I have Twilight for. I love foals too much to harm them." said Chrysalis, crossing her forelegs.
"That's what you say now. Anyways, how does Scootaloo know you are a changeling?" Asked Dash. Scootaloo's excitement quickly vanished.
"Care to explain this one, Scootaloo?" Asked Chrysalis, eyeing the filly. Scootaloo averted her eyes to the floor.
"Me and the girls broke into the library to find Miss True and found Chrysalis instead. We got the two of them arrested." said the filly, refusing to look at her older sister now mother.
"Spike contacted Celestia who freed us before me and Twilight got to the jail." finished Chrysalis. Rainbow Dash blinked a few times.
"Well, that's different. You explained it to her I'm guessing?" Asked Dash. Chrysalis nodded.
"I did. Now Scootaloo, you have to understand we have to wait until I have at least gone through my second trimester of pregnancy with the next changeling to make my presence and purposes public so you have to keep this a secret." said Chrysalis, leaning forward to get a good look at the filly.
"Why, what might happen?" Asked the filly.
"Changeling's and mothers in general are extremely protective of their foals if they love them enough. My child will be lucky enough to have two very powerful mothers protecting her. However, ponies will still try to stop my from giving birth and from living. I cannot let the changelings die." said Chrysalis. Scoots nodded. Chrysalis sighed and looked up at the clock.
"Alright, go pack your things. I have stuff I need to do before my date later."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was seven o'clock when Chrysalis arrived at the Golden Oaks Library as True Hearts, her mane done in a bun after being washed thoroughly. She took the time to quickly set a reservation, set a course for a beautiful night walk, and get washed up. She didn't, however, have the time to get a dress from Rarity, causing her to go as she was. Taking a deep breath, she knocked thrice on the purple library door.
"Coming~" sang a voice on the otherside of the door. She knew it very well to be her marefriend, obviously excited for their first date. And in all honesty, so was she. It was just her nerves were acting up as well. In all of her years alive there was never a reason to mate or find a other. In all senses of the word, this was her first ever date just like it was her first kiss last night. This was an all new experience and she was nervous as hell.
"Alright, calm down, Chryssie, it's just a date. Do not need to hyperventilate over a date, right? You got it all planned out." mumbled Chrysalis, wondering why the hell her marefriend was taking so long. There was the sound of hooves approaching the door, making Chrysalis to freeze. What she saw stole her breath.
Twilight Sparkle stood on the otherside of the entry way, staring at her. She had her tail combed out and tied off at the end while her mane was done up in a bun, a few strands making their way over her eyes. It wasn't much and a lot of mares would have argued that she needed more makeup, or makeup in general, but for Chrysalis, the simplistic beauty of the mare was more than enough.
"Wow." Was the only word to escape her lips. Twilight giggled and scuffed the floor with a hoof, looking at her shyly.
"I can say the same for you, too." said the mare, blushing. Chrysalis blushed as well, giggling slightly. They stood there in silence, starring into the others eyes, waiting for the other to make the next move. It was Spike, however, that made the move.
"Are you going to stand there or go on your date? You're letting the cold air in." said the dragon, crossing his arms at the pair. The ponies blushed again before nodding, Chrysalis taking the lead as they left.
"So, what do you got planned for tonight?" Asked Twilight, smiling over at her marefriend.
"Nothing too overboard. Just a nice dinner and a walk around town. A good enough first date, right?" Asked Chrysalis, slightly anxious. Twilight giggled and pecked her nose.
"I'm sure it'll be fine." Chrysalis' eyes rolled back in her head slightly at the flux of love from the lavender mare.
"I should probably skip dinner, your filling me up enough." said the changeling, puffing out her cheeks. Twilight chuckled.
"I'm sure you can handle one course. Just don't buy anything too big, I don't want you throwing up on our first date." commented the mare as they walked into the Main Street of Ponyville.
"Well, here we are." said Chrysalis as they stopped at a mildly fancy restaurant. She didn't go overboard, but she didn't want to go somewhere decent enough for a first date. And this was good enough for both of them.
"Well, um, we should probably go in." said Chrysalis, scuffing the ground. Twilight chuckled and walked forward, making Chrysalis try and catch up to her.
"You are insanely nervous, aren't you?" Asked Twilight, looking back at Chrysalis.
"Yeah, I'm surprised you aren't though."
"That's because I knew what I was going into had a chance not to work out. Plus, I wasn't preparing." Chrysalis huffed.
"Of course." Twilight chuckled and kissed her cheek. Chrysalis blushed and walked ahead as they reached the front.
"You have a reservation or do you need to find a seat?" Asked the mare behind the podium.
"True Hearts and Twilight Sparkle." said Chrysalis. The mare looked over the clipboard she had levitating in front of her then grabbed two menus.
"Alright, if you two would follow me I will bring you to your table." said the mare with a smile, guiding them through the restaurant. Multiple ponies sat at the many booths in the building, some at the bar. They laughed and talked as they at their meals. It was one of the better sit down restaurants in the small town.
"Here we are. Do you want anything to drink this evening?" Asked the mare as the couple took their seats across from the other in the back.
"Applejack Daniels, please." said Chrysalis. The waitress gave an impressed whistle.
"Well damn, we got a heavy drinker here. And you, Miss Sparkle?" Twilight looked over the back menu looking over the various drinks that the restaurant served.
"Just a Guinness, please." said Twilight. The mare nodded and recorded the order.
"Alright, I will be back with your drinks shortly. Feel free to browse the menu so you are ready when I return." With that the mare was off. Twilight turned to Chrysalis.
"Whiskey? When did you become a heavy drinker?"
"Meh, just like the taste. And I seem to be one of the few in this place that can even stand it. I don't see even one drop of whiskey anywhere." said Chrysalis, eyeing a few of the other patron's drinks. She scoffed and leaned back in her seat. "Lightweights."
"Thankfully you're not dating one." said Twilight, leaning back in her own seat. Chrysalis raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? Miss Celestia's student have some crazy college years?" Asked Chrysalis with a smirk. Twilight blushed and directed her attention to the window next to their table.
"Truthfully, yes. I may have had my fair share of bottles of whiskey and other hard alcohol." Chrysalis laughed.
"Oh damn, I wish I could have been there!" Said Chrysalis, laughing. Twilight huffed and crossed her forelegs.
"Oh shut up, I bet you have embarrassing alcohol related moments as well." said Twilight, refusing to look at the laughing mare. Chrysalis calmed down a bit before speaking.
"Don't worry. I've had my fair share. I think one time a stallion thought he was about to get lucky because I was so drunk. Sadly, I ended up vomiting on him and slept like a foal the entire night." said Chrysalis, trying not to break out into full hysterics again. Twilight, however, blinked at her.
"Well, you got the cake for most embarrassing drunken moments. Let me see if I have an award." said Twilight, smirking slightly. Chrysalis stuck her tongue out at her.
"Alright, tell me your most embarrassing moment." Twilight tapped her chin in thought.
"I tried to have a three some with Celestia and Cadence on my twenty-first." Chrysalis choked on air.
"You did?!" She exclaimed, staring at her marefriend in shock. Twilight blushed.
"Celestia refused since she knew I was drunk of my flank. However, Cadence was different..."
"Cadence was your first?" Asked Chrysalis, blinking in surprise. Twilight nodded.
"I actually kicked her off the bed and proceeded to throw up on the floor. Hangovers are horrible."
"I'll agree with that." said the waitress as she returned. A tall glass of dark amber liquid next to a even darker liquid in a beer bottle floated onto the table. "Now, what can I get you two this evening?" Chrysalis took that moment to give the menu a quick look over before answering.
"Well, um, I'll have the mushroom veggie burger. Swiss cheese please." The waitress either ignored or didn't hear the snicker come from Twilight. Chrysalis, however, glared at her. The waitress finished off the order and looked over at Twilight.
"And what can I get you ma'am?" Twilight tapped her chin as she checked the menu. She shrugged and set it down.
"I'll just have the same."
"Swiss or cheddar?"
"Swiss."
"Alright. I will be back with your meals soon." said the mare, collecting the menus and walking away. The night went along quite nicely after that. Chrysalis told Twilight about the modern changeling hive and how it functioned. In all senses, changelings were almost just like ponies, despite their looks and dietary habits.
Their meals were constantly forgotten in their conversations, only to be reminded of them when they looked down and took a bite or two only to be destructed by another tale.
A number of these tales were of how Twilight progressed through Celestia's school at a shocking rate and was in college at fifteen. She graduated with high honors and a doctors in magic at twenty. She would go on to study under Celestia more often for the next three years until she was sent to Ponyville. The rest wasn't hard to decipher.
Then there was Chrysalis. Diane Metamorph Chrysalis. The heir to the changeling throne. She was raised by her mother for the better part a half a century before taking up the throne in which she made the decision to feed off of love. Which, of course, crippled the changeling race.
Her advisors constantly bugged her to find a mate and would find stallions to court her. Three times in those years she was shunned by her advisors after telling them that she was gay. They were of old belief and believed that changelings should only be with another mare if it was part of a mission. The only changeling to accept her sexuality was her mother, who supported her until the day she died. Twilight was the first mare, of any race, to accept and love the changeling queen. While Chrysalis has live for over a century, she has never been truly loved. That is, until Twilight.
"I think it is best we pay the bill and head home." said Chrysalis after she finished her story, eyeing the clock. Twilight followed her gaze to find it to be nine at night.
"That late? Do you think we can still get that walk in?" Asked Twilight, batting her eyelashes. Chrysalis chuckled and shook her head.
"Nope. I don't trust towns this late. Plus, we both had a few to drink. We will head to the library and share a few by the fireplace. That sound nice?" Twilight thought for a moment then nodded, smiling.
"That would be wonderful." The couple payed off their bill and set off back towards the library, chatting and laughing the whole way.
"And then she bucked Rainbow off of her with the hugest blush I've ever seen! It was only a week later that Rainbow and AJ were dating." said Twilight, laughing as they entered the library. Once the door closed, the still laughing Chrysalis dropped her disguise.
"Oh Celestia, that's rich. Why is it when all the good stuff happens I'm not around. I would have loved watching you try to get your way with the princesses." said the changeling queen. Twilight rolled her eyes.
"Let's just grab the whiskey and head to the fireplace." Chrysalis nodded and went into the kitchen. Twilight sighed and went through the backdrop that led into the living area. However, she was not expecting to see the two ponies waiting for her when she opened the door.
"Twiely!" Shouted Shining Armour, the white unicorn stallion throwing an embrace around his younger sister. Cadence came over to join the hug with the shocked, and increasingly horrified, unicorn mare.
"Sh-Shining? C-Cadence? W-what are you doing here?" She asked, hoping to high heavens Chrysalis got lost looking for where her whiskey was hidden.
"We heard Celestia say you found a special somepony so we decided to come and see how the lucky stallion was." said Cadence. Shining nodded.
"You were already gone when we came. Spike didn't want us to stay for some reason, though. Little guy must think I was going to go a little to rough on the stallion with my 'dating talk'" said the stallion with a chuckle. Oh, he was going to go rough, Twilight knew this for certain.
"Hey Twilight, I couldn't find tall glasses so I grabbed...some...mugs....well shit." Shining Armour and Cadence stared at the changeling as she entered, a bottle of Applejack Daniels and two mugs in her green aura. Chrysalis set down the items on the table and glanced behind her. She could try to run, but she had a royal guard and princess against her. Not the best odds.
"And just when the night was going so well." muttered Chrysalis. Shining Armour lit his dagger of a alabaster horn and growled at her, lowering it to aim directly at her face. Chrysalis gulped.
"What in blazing Tartarus are you doing here?!" Shouted the stallion. Cadence grabbed Twilight in her aura and hid her away from the changeling behind a wing. This did not help Chrysalis' slowly shrinking mental state.
"I, um, uh, gah...." Chrysalis' mind refused to work. In all of the situations she had been in, she had been running off hunger and desperation. Now, however, she was full and satisfied with her current living. All her bravery and cocky behavior was all gone. Nothing was left but a very scared changeling whose strength came in the form of a lavender unicorn who was being kept from her. She was terrified.
"Answer me!" Shouted Shining. Chrysalis yelped and started to cry as she slowly crawled away from the towering menace of a stallion. Twilight, just barely seeing over Cadence's wing, saw this and was horrified. Stealing herself, Twilight teleported herself next to the changeling and wrapped her forelegs around the changeling who immediately sank into the embrace in a fit of tears of terror.
"Twilight? What are you doing?! Get away from that monster!" Shouted Shining. Twilight whipped around and glared at her brother, her own tears gliding down her cheeks.
"Monster? Monsters fear bigger monsters, Shining, and she is bawling her eyes out. She hasn't even done a single thing wrong since she arrived A WEEK ago. She has been here a week and nothing bad has happened." said Twilight, clutching onto the crying mess.
"Twilight, she obviously has you brainwashed. Just ste-"
"I do not have her brainwashed you fucking asshole!" Shouted Chrysalis, tears pouring down her cheeks. "I would never do that to her! I love her too much to even think of using any magic on her! Why do you always have to think I want to hurt and cause pain when all I want is my own love?" Asked Chrysalis, sobbing softly. Shining, Cadence, even Twilight, stared at her in shock.
"I told this to Twilight, I told this to Spike, I told this to the Elements, I told this to Celestia, and now I will tell it to you. I am the last changeling. I made the biggest mistake in the history of my race and my people starved because of it. I attacked out of pure desperation and stupidity. Now I am rebuilding, and I fell in love with Twilight along the way. So kill me and kill the race if you must, but my feelings and reasons stay absolute!" The ponies in the room stared at her in shock, watching the crying changeling silently sob as she glared at them. Twilight felt herself become even further attracted to this mare. Each moment she proved herself to be completely different from the Chrysalis everyone saw that day at the invasion.
"You are stupid, yet brave. You know that?" Asked Twilight softly, leaning her head on her marefriend's shoulder. Chrysalis gave a dry chuckle.
"Luck has never really been on my side. Thankfully, it's been helpful the last week." said the mare with a slight laugh. Shining Armour sighed and placed a hoof on the bridge on his nose.
"This is going to be a long night."

Twilight closed the bedroom door slowly, keeping am eye on the changeling in the bed as she turned over in her sleep. A box of tissues sat next to the bed along with used ones all over the floor. The unicorn sighed and closed the door and turned to her faithful assistant.
"Did you send a letter to the Princess?" Asked Twilight in a quiet voice. The drake nodded.
"Yeah, but it's late so she might be asleep by now so her reply won't be right away." Spike played around with his claws a bit before looking up at her. "Hey Twi, do you think she will be alright?" Asked the drake. Twilight giggled at the drakes sudden liking to the changeling queen. The true Chrysalis was a pony that seemed to he extremely easy to like.
"Of course, Spike. She just needs some sleep. She has been stressed out and Shining and Cadence didn't help. Now let's go try and explain as much as we can before Celestia gets here." said the lavender mare, leading the drake back into the library's living room.
Upon entering, a blue glow surrounded her, keeping her still as it did its job. Twilight spotted Shining off at the end of the room casting the spell she knew was to disable any sort of mind control spell used by changelings. After a few moments, the aura turned green. Twilight sighed.
"So she really does have you under a spell!" Declared the stallion, a scowl on his face. It was wiped away by the mountain leveling glare directed at him.
"Shining, we both know that that spell detects changeling magic. Chrysalis' fangs have a magical barrier on them that is easily wiped off when come in physical contact with another object." said the pissed unicorn. The stallion stammered for a moment before composing himself.
"Well, why don't we test you to see if you are telling the truth?" Asked the stallion, keeping a questioning gaze on her. Twilight sighed.
"You sure you can handle the embarrassment?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Embarrassment? What do you mean embarrassment?" Asked Shining. Twilight smirked.
"Well, why don't I tell Cadence that your first kiss was in fact before you met her. I believe his name was Blueblood?" Said Twi. Shining blushed like mad while Cadence stared at him in shock. "Consider this payback for nearly giving my marefriend a heart attack." said the mare as she retrieved the bottle of whiskey Chrysalis brought over from earlier and took a swig of the harsh liquid. She winced slightly before putting her attention back on her siblings.
"So....you are actually dating Chrysalis under everypony's nose?" Asked Shining, wanting to pull the attention away from him and his first kiss.
"Not everypony. The only close family I have yet to tell is mom and dad. The elements were the first to know since Spike panicked when he first saw her." she said, taking another swig of the liquid. It went down smoother this time as her throat got accustomed to it.
"When did you plan on telling us?" Asked Shining, sitting in his haunches and crossing his forelegs.
"We were waiting."
"For what?! The rest of the changeling army to invade Ponyville?!" Shouted Shining.
"What army?! That blast killed them all!" Shouted Twilight, her face crimson with anger.
"Then it did more good than we intended!" Finished Shining. The room went dead quiet, even Cadence stared in horror at her husband. The silence was broken by a very audible slap.
"Get out of my house." said Twilight, glaring at the still recovering Shining Armour, tears starting to well in her eyes.
"Not until you explain why you hit me." said Shining, rubbing the sore spot on his cheek. Twilight struck him again on the other cheek, drawing blood this time.
"You want a reason?" She asked, hissing into his ear. "You come into my home, scream profanities at a mare you know nothing about but believe you know everything she is, and then tell me, to my face , that it's a good thing she had to expirence over two thousand deaths for desperately trying to find food. Is that a good enough of a fucking reason?" She asked, glaring holes through him.
"B-but she's a monster!" He said, stammering.
"She is a mare who hadn't had a decent meal before the invasion and had to do to keep herself and an entire race from starving. She is a mare who expirenced each one of her beloved subjects die, fifty at once. She is mare struggling on making a pony/changeling relationship work. Finally, she is a mare trying to restart an entire race and fix a mistake she made years ago. She isn't a monster, Shining, you are." With that, Twilight turned around and walked out of the room, the bottle of whiskey following her.
"I want you out of my house before I wake up in the morning. If you are still here by the time I wake up, I'm calling the police. Cadence, feel free to sleep in the guest bed." Twilight took a swig of the liquid and walked upstairs. Spike was standing in the doorway, watching her as she ascended.
"Want to wake up Canterlot next time?" He asked. Twilight glared at him for a moment before sighing.
"Be prepared to let Cadence take the bed. I don't think she wants to be anywhere near my brother right now, either." said Twilight, walking past him towards her own door.
"Roger." he said, closing the door to his room behind him. Twilight sighed and entered her bedroom. She sighed as she placed the whiskey on the bedside table and walked up the stairs towards the loft where her bed sat.
"So, he doesn't care for anything about my races doom?" Twilight froze as a teary eyed Chrysalis rolled over to face her. It broke her heart to see her like this, broken, scared, fearing the unknown.
"Chryssie..." whispered Twilight, moving into the bed with her, hugging her close. Chrysalis accepted the embrace with loving arms. She cried softly into the lavender coat, letting it wash away.
"Why did the gods have to curse me so? Why could they not let me live happily in peace?" She asked, sobbing into Twilight's shoulder. She could feel, taste, the love she was getting from Twilight. She hummed softly as she fed, letting the soothing love lull her to sleep.
Meanwhile, Cadence softly closed the door to the master bedroom, smirking slightly. An uneasy Spike watched her as she stepped back, smiling at the door before walking back down the stairs where her husband was walking in circles, grumbling to herself.
"Well, there is no point in getting arrested." said Shining with a huff. "Let's go find a nice motel to sleep in and we can report a changeling siting in the morning." said the stallion as he walked towards the door. He stopped, however, when he realized he wasn't being followed. Cadence sat by the fire, watching its flames.
"You can find a motel and sleep there tonight. But remember you will get a divorce the moment you call in that changeling sighting." said Cadence coldly. Shining blinked in shock.
"You can't seriously be siding with them after what Chrysalis did to you!" Shouted Shining. The pink mare glared at him.
"I'm not wishing death upon a race that attacked souly for food. I saw Chrysalis when she attacked me, she was skinny to be Tartarus. I think it took all her strength to strike me down . Plus, I could sense her love for Twilight." said the alicorn. She huffed and turned back to the fire. "Go ahead and tell the guards, break the heart of your sister by ripping her first and possibly only love away from her. Just be prepared to be shunned and to be slapped with a stack of divorce papers." said the mare. Shining Armour stuttered a moment before stomping out of the library, the door slamming shut behind him. Cadence smiled in victory before making her way back up to the guest room.
"Was that really such a smart idea?" Asked Spike as she walked into the room they were sharing. Cadence sighed and sat down on the edge of the slightly too small bed.
"I love Shining and he loves me back, he just refuses to see past some things as well as look at the things presented before him." said Cadence. "I may not be able to sense love as Chrysalis can, but I can tell when ponies are truly in love, and those too are madly in for the other." she stated for a smirk.
"But Shining refuses to see that because he still believes that Chrysalis is just playing her along with her story?" Asked Spike. Cadence nodded, causing him to sigh.
"Neither of you were here when Celestia came by yesterday. We both thought she was playing Twilight and the elements along. Then she tried telling us that the magic she had kept using in small amounts was some sort of life support. Turns out this was true.
"C-Celestia told her that it would be best to remove the remaining fifty changelings from the life support instead of making them suffer. You could tell by the way she cried out in pain and started bawling that she wasn't lying. I mean, I can't began to understand how much pain she felt feeling fifty changeling's die at the same time." said the drake, shaking his head.
"And this was the same day they started dating." concluded Cadence. Spike nodded.
"Right. Though, they have been crushing on each other the past week before Twilight of all ponies asked Chrysalis out." Cadence stared at him in shock.
"Shut in Twily asked her out? She must have fallen for Chrysalis HARD." said the pink alicorn with a grin. Spike chuckled himself despite the subject.
"Yep. And in the last day they were able to get little Scootaloo adopted to Rainbow Dash and what sounded like an awesome date up till they came home." said Spike. Cadence winced as she remembered exactly how the evening had went down.
"Yeah. Should have taken Tia's advise and told you we were coming first." said the pink mare. There was an awkward pause while they searched for another topic. Finally, Spike broke the silence.
"So, has mother found a special somepony?" He asked, desperate for a conversation even if he had to sit through his mother's relationship.
"Actually, both Tia and Lulu did. I was wondering when they were going to realize it." said Cadence, tapping her chin at the last part.
"Oh, who is it?" He asked, acting like he was paying attention when he was paying only half.
"Each other." Okay, now he was paying attention.
"Wait, what?!"
"Each other." said Cadence calmly. "It might just be from the fact they haven't seem each other for so long or that they felt this way about each other the entire time and it's just now coming out." said the mare with a smile. Spike just stared at her before flopping on his bed.
"Yup. Going to bed now to remove that image." declared the dragon, wrapping himself in his blanket. Cadence giggled before laying down in her own bed, the covers covering her. She closed her eyes with thoughts of the new couple in her head.
I think they will be just fine. she thought to herself before falling into sleeps clutches.

Midnight Star ducked around the corner as a white stallion stormed out of the library looking pissed. The dark blue unicorn with a silver mane watched him leave before looking up at the window a few floors above. He heard a few things as he was breaking down his telescope in the field not far from the Golden Oaks Library. He just hoped the shouts were wrong.
With a huff, Midnight circled the library, searching for a low enough branch to hoist himself on. He found one just inside his reach and jumped for it. His hooves slipped the first time and caused him to fall hard on his flank, causing mild pain. Cursing, he jumped up a second time, hooking his hooves on the branch successfully.
Hoisting himself up, he began climbing up towards the second floor balcony, hoping to relieve his worries. Of course, this came at the price of cutting himself on branches and nearly falling multiple times. He just hope it was worth his trouble.
Finally hooking his hooves on the railing, he pulled himself up and over onto the balcony. He landed with a small thud and froze, hoping no one heard him. Once he was certain they didn't, he crept up to the glass doors and peeked inside. What he saw almost made him cry out in shock if he didn't catch himself.
A lavender unicorn that he could easily identify as the town's librarian and the owner of the library, was laying in bed. However, it was who was on top of her that caused his troubles.
Midnight had only seen simple drawings and artists renderings of what the changeling queen looked like. And there was no doubt that the large changeling that now laid on top of Twilight Sparkle, engaging in a passionate tongue wrestling match, was none other than Queen Chrysalis herself.
He heard shouting of that she was there along with what was a heated argument, but he didn't catch much of it. Now, he knew who exactly won that argument and why they were determined to win it in the first place.
Stepping away from the window, Midnight kept his fearful eyes on the couple. This, in turn, caused him to forget there was a railing and he decided to go over said railing and land on his back, knocking the air out of him.
The deep blue stallion struggled for air for a moment before he was granted just that. He knew what he had to do, and he wasn't going to waste a moment. Standing on shaky hooves, Midnight ran towards where he saw Shining Armour take off to earlier.
~~~~~~~~
Shining Armour thought over the argument just minutes before, then finally on the argument he had with his wife. He knew that his wife could sense love, as well as a rare few other emotions, and should have trusted both her word and Twilight's. If the mare that was kidnapped was able to forgive her kidnapper, shouldn't he be able to?
Lost in his thoughts, Shining barely heard the voice calling out his name until a hoof tapped his shoulder. He Immediately reacted in the most manliest way that a manly man like him could.
He screamed and punched the pony behind him in the face.
Midnight cursed and grabbed ahold of his nose in an attempt to stop whatever bleeding the other stallions hoof could have caused.
"The fuck, dude?" He asked, glaring at Shining Armour. Shining took a moment to catch up with the situation before scratching behind his head with a sheepish smile.
"Heh. Sorry, dude. Startled me." said the white stallion. Midnight rolled his eyes.
"And we rely on you to keep our nations security."
"Hey, it's been a stressful few months."
"Yeah, and your sister being controlled and banged by a changeling is surly helping." said the dark blue stallion with a roll of his eyes. Shining froze. After a moment, the stallion scowled.
"Look, I don't know who you are and why you think that, but I advise you to shut your mouth." said Shining, turning around and starting back down the street. "Now I really need to go find a place to sleep."
"You have to help your sister, Shining!" Shouted the stallion. Shining gritted his teeth.
I am. "I'm sure there is nothing for me to worry about." called back the white unicorn before turning around the corner. Midnight huffed before walking back towards his home. The dark blue stallion fumed over the failed exchange as he walked.
"What is wrong with that stallion? I know he knows Chrysalis is in there with his sister!" Said Midnight. Then a thought occurred to him. "Maybe she is controlling him, as well. Maybe she just sent him out just to make it look like a argument when it never was real!" Declared the unicorn.
With a new stride, Midnight Star made his way home with a smug grin. He knew what he had to do.
Morning came to the Sparkle household like any other day. The sun bright as it shone down through the windows and onto the sleeping lovers as their sweat covered bodies huddled close to each other.
Twilight woke first, the sun shining in her eyes being her wake up call. The lavender mare groaned before looking over at the sleepy mare in her arms. Chrysalis slept with a small smile on her lips as she nuzzled up into Twilight. She smiled and looked over the sheets.
"I need to replace these before Spike or Cadence comes in." she noted. Chrysalis chuckled and opened her eyes slowly, showing she was awake.
"We might need to wash up as well. I doubt walking into town the way we are would be appropriate." said the changeling, yawning as she finished. Twilight giggled and nodded. She sat up and threw her legs over the edge.
"So, you want to shower first while I clean the sheets?" Asked the unicorn. Chrysalis nodded and threw her legs over the edge. Yawning, she got up and walked over to the desk and made a quick note before turning to see Chrysalis staring at the door.
"What if they see?" She asked, looking back at Twilight. The mare rolled her eyes.
"Check the hallway first then run into the bathroom. Though, it wouldn't hurt to check if its empty as well." said Twilight as she took the sheets in her magic and threw them down a chute. She blinked as she noticed the few wet spots on the mattress's surface.
"We obviously had fun last night." she muttered as the sound of the shower greeted her ears. She chuckled as she went and summoned a wash cloth. With it, she went and cleaned off the few wet spots around the bed. After that she continued to flip the mattress to the clean side as she waited for her marefriend to finish her shower.
"Twily, you awa...oh." Cadence stood in the door way with a blush as she got sight of Twilight. Twilight equally blushed when she caught Cadence eyeing one of the spots of matted fur.
"Um, yeah, it was a crazy night last night." said Twilight sheepishly. Cadence giggled at this.
"I knew I could feel your love last night but I wasn't expecting this." said the alicorn. She looked back at the bathroom and giggled again. "You can tell Chrysalis that breakfast is ready once she is done. Or, you could join her and tell her yourself." said Cadence with a wink before walking downstairs. Twilight blushed and eyed the bathroom door.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Alright, alright, I'm coming." said Spike as the knocking on the door increased its urgency. It had only been twenty minutes since the two lovebirds had come down the stairs. For some reason Twilight and Cadence giggled as soon as the two came down together. He asked Chrysalis and she just said that he would understand when he was older.
"Oh, it's you." said Spike as he opened the door. Shining Armour played with his hooves as he looked back behind him before leaning down towards Spike.
"Listen, I really need to talk to the girls, mainly Twilight and Chrysalis. I just have a bad feeling." said the stallion. Spike looked him over and sighed.
"You better hope that this feeling doesn't end up in a divorce." said Spike as he held open the door. Shining walked inside with a sigh.
"I'm just hoping I don't get murdered the second they see me." said the stallion as he followed the drake into the kitchen. Inside, the three mares were giggling to themselves, some sort of inside joke that Shining wasn't sure he wanted to know.
Upon seeing him, Chrysalis froze, fear showing in her eyes. Shining bit his lip and looked away, guilt building up inside him. It wasn't long before the other mares attention was focused on him.
A heavy blanket of silence fell over the room, suffocating the stallion as he tried to figure out what exactly he was going to say to the group of mares. He glanced back up to see Cadence and Twilight glaring at him, Chrysalis still scared out of her mind. Her fear of him was sickening. He didn't want to be feared.
"I'm sorry." Was the first thing that came out. Cadence and Twilight turned down their glares and looked on in interest. "I'm sorry I was so thick skulled to the situation not to see the sincerity behind your statements." He directed his gaze to the now curious Chrysalis.
"Yes, I'm still a bit sore about what you did to my wife and me back during the invasion," Chrysalis averted her gaze from him, ashamed. "But I realized if Cadence, my wife and princess of love, could forgive you, the changeling that kidnapped her and attempted to steal her love, then I should be able to forgive you as well." said the stallion, scuffing his hoof on the floor. Twilight smiled.
"Now, was that so hard?" She asked.
"Yes! You glaring at me didn't help!" Said Shining. The three mares giggled, Chrysalis donning a small smile. He smiled as well before he remembered the real reason why he was there.
"Now, um, the real reason why I came is to warn you." he said, siting on his haunches. Twilight cocked her head while Cadence narrowed her eyes at him. Shining caught this and rolled his eyes.
"Relax, I didn't do anything. No, it seems we had somepony listening in on our argument last night." he said.
"What makes you believe that?" Asked Twilight.
"Because some stallion came up to me and told me I should help my sister. He also told me something I would have really loved not to know about you and Chrysalis' love life." said Shining. Chrysalis blushed, emitting a low growl.
"He watched us?" she asked. Twilight however blinked.
"Kinky." she said softly. Everyone stared at her, causing her to blush. "What? So having someone watch me while I'm having sex turns me on. Is that a crime?"
"No, but again, I really would have loved not to know that." said Shining, rubbing his temples.
"Well too bad, I had to walk in on you and Blueblood making out so suck it up." said the lavender mare, rolling her eyes.
"There is a huge difference between getting boned by a changeling and making out with someone!" Said the stallion, blushing.
"I will inform you that we both still have our virginity." said Twilight. Chrysalis coughed. "Okay, so I still have my virginity."
"Celestia, I'm going to need brain bleach." said Shining, rubbing his temples.
"Yup!" Declared the three mares happily. Shining proceeded to connect his head to the table.
"Point is, just be carful for a unicorn stallion with a dark blue coat and a silver mane." said Shining as he sat back up, rubbing his forehead. Chrysalis frowned.
"I'll watch for him. Then I'll make sure to shove my foot up his ass the moment I see him." said the changeling, earning a few stares. "What? You don't go, looking into ponies homes and watch them eat each other out!"
"Stop putting these images in my head!" Shouted Shining, grabbing onto his head. The mares broke out into laughter. "I need more guy friends."
"You and me both, brother." said Spike as he walked past the doorway and up the stairs.
"Anyways, what could one stallion do without proper evidence? I mean, unless he has photos of is going at it, he won't get far in making ponies believe I am here. Besides, it's not like I strut out through town in my true form." said Chrysalis. Shining shook his head.
"I don't know. I just have a bad feeling about all of this. I still may not like you, but you are very close to my sisters heart so that means I have to do everything in my power to make sure the two of you are safe. So please, be careful." he said, giving a concerned glance at the two of them.
"I'm sure everything will be alright." said Twilght.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Only if I knew what they were saying." grumbled Midnight as he ducked back under the bushes, clutching his camera to his chest. He chuckled. His plan was forming nicely. Now all he needed was a picture of the form Chrysalis chose to walk around town in and he would be golden.
Crawling towards the door, Midnight set up his camera so he had a perfect view of whoever can in and out of the library while staying hidden. It would be a boring wait for the queen, but if it was too help the nation, he would do it.
"Well, I need to head out, Twi. The foals are probably wondering where I am. I'll be back later." said a new voice just outside the door. Smirking, Midnight raised his camera and prepared for his victim to walk out of the library.
"Alright, True. I'll make sure to have my shelves restocked for you." called out Twilight's voice as a red unicorn mare with a pink mane stepped out of the library. She chuckled and turned to face the inside of the library, failing to notice the light clicking of the camera as Midnight took numerous pictures of her.
"You better have more whiskey. It's not as fun when we are sober." said True Hearts with a wink. She then turned and trotted down the road, shutting the door with her magic. Midnight smirked as he sat back up.
"The head of Ponyville Orphanage? A bit cliché, Chrysalis, but that won't matter when I expose you and have you hanged for your crimes." said the stallion. Picking up his camera, Midnight stalked out of the bushes and trotted back home.
Even Changelings Wear Masks
Midnight loved to think he was a decently popular stallion....in the market at least. While his talent was astronomy, he from time to time created paintings and sculptures that depicted the night sky. He was soon to be known well for these pieces of art he would occasionally sell at the market. And it was this way he was able to touch on the subject to get his backing for what he called 'The Purge of the Changeling Virus'.
His plan to spread out his word was the most simplistic he could think of. He would call over the common pony, trying to avoid Twilight, Cadence, Shining, and Chrysalis, and give them an invite to an extremely important meeting. So far, he has been able to hook himself a few of the Elements of Harmony, a great success in his opinion, and a great deal of the common ponies.
At this meeting, he would make sure he had no unwanted guests and continue on to expose the existence of Queen Chrysalis in the town as well as her cover. He would, of course, pull out his photographic evidence to prove that she was there. In the end, he hoped to have a good amount of the town behind his back as he marched down to the library to hang the queen as she deserved.
"Excuse me, sir." called out the voice of a mare he really hoped to avoid. He turned his head to see Twilight Sparkle approaching his stall. As soon as he saw the approaching mare he prayed to the moon and stars that she hadn't found him out before he could save her from the Queen's spell.
"Yes? How may I help you, miss?" Asked Midnight, keeping calm for the sake of not being found out. Twilight looked over him for a second.
"You wouldn't have had been out by the library last night, would you?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. Midnight bit his cheek but kept his warm smile.
"No I haven't, Ma'am. I'm only out on the fields over there on the weekends. If I'm correct, it's the middle of the week." said Midnight. Twilight narrowed her eyes at him for a moment before sighing in defeat.
"Sorry, thought you were somepony else. Nice paintings, by the way. May I purchase the one of the Milky Way? I have always had a great deal interest in that part of the galaxy." said the mare, pointing to the almost expertly painted copy of the collection of stars.
"Of course. That'll be ten bits, ma'am." He watched as the mare pulled out the correct amount of bits before walking away with the purchased painting in her magic. The stallion sighed.
If only you weren't tainted by that monster, Twilight, I would have loved to meet you in better setting. But, I think my chances should be greater once that monster is taken care of. thought the stallion. He chuckled and went back to his work.
Applejack sat at the front of the crowd that was gathered in one of the few theaters in the small country town. She could have guessed by the sheer number of the crowd that nearly the entire market staff and regulars were there for the meeting.
"Still trying to figure out what this is about?" Asked Rainbow Dash as she landed next to the orange farm pony. AJ nodded and gave the mare a quick peck on the cheek, causing her to blush madly.
"Eeyup. Midnight never really talked much so Ah'm not sure why we are here." said AJ as she tried to look for the said stallion. Midnight, however, was not to be found. She then switched targets to either Twilight or True Hearts, but that came up short as well.
"Applejack, Rainbow Dash, fancy meeting you here." The couple turned to see Rarity approaching them, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie not far behind. Five out of six elements. It didn't sit well for the farm pony.
"Do either of you know what's going on?" Asked Rainbow. The three of them shook their heads, earning a sigh from the other two. Applejack casted one final look through the crowd.
"Ah don't know, y'all. This don't feel right." said Applejack in a worried tone. Rainbow nodded.
"I know what you mean. I've been standing here for five minutes and this still hasn't started! I could be practicing right now!" Said the rainbow maned Pegasus, earning a chuckle from a group. Their mirth was soon cut off as the house lights switched off, prompting the stages lights to focus.
A black stallion with a silver mane walked onstage, he was wearing a slight smirk as he did so. Something about him made AJ's stomach turn. Midnight Star approached the edge of the stage and gave the crowd a look over.
"Fellow citizens of Ponyville! For months we have feared a new threat that has come to our attention during the wedding of Princess Mi Amor Cadenza and Captain Shining Armour. This threat has made us weary of our loved ones, making us think they aren't who we believe them to be." said Midnight, starting to pace the stage as he continued.
"The changeling threat was supposedly dealt with during the wedding, banishing them to the furthest regions of our country with a blast of magic. I am here to tell you that they have returned and chose our town to start a new invasion!" There was a collective gasp as everyone, save for five mares, were hit with panic. The elements, however, glared down the pony, though kept their mouths shut to try and not make matters worse.
"The changeling queen, Chrysalis, has chose our own Element of Magic to prey for love. She has fallen under the queen's spell. Chrysalis was even able to capture Cadence and Shining Armour as well!"
"Prove it!" Shouted Dash. The other elements nodded slowly. If he had some proof of Chrysalis' existence, then it was all over. He would have the town hooked and it would make trying to convince them otherwise impossible.
Midnight nodded and lit his horn. The projector mounted in the back of the theater turned on and projected a clear image onto the screen behind him, causing the crowd to gasp and the elements to look away in defeat.
Twilight and Chrysalis were sitting next to each other in what seemed to be the library kitchen. The two mares had their tails entwined while Shining Armour and Cadence sat across from them. The four where chatting like normal ponies, though the five mares knew that the town wouldn't see it that way. But Pinkie Pie was going to make sure they did.
"And what is that supposed to mean?" Asked the pink mare, silencing the murmurs throughout the room. "All I see is two couples talking together."
"And that's obviously what she wants you to think!" Countered Midnight, but Pinkie was ready.
"And you have met her? You have seen how she operates, works?" Asked the pink mare. "The Chrysalis I saw was a queen of a starving race who did what she had to to keep them alive. Besides, she wouldn't risk being in the open like that." said Pinkie.
"And how do we not know you aren't controlled by her as well?" Asked Midnight, earning a gasp. Pinkie cursed under her breath. "You obviously seem to be friendly with Chrysalis. Who, may I inform you, is actually our Orphange's head mistress." The picture switched to True Hearts exiting the library, earning another gasp.
"Not true!" Shouted Pinkie Pie, her hair starting to go limp. Midnight didn't seem fazed.
"Grab the elements and contain them. We need to kill the queen to break the spell on them as well." said the stallion.
"No! You have no clue what you are doing!" Shouted Rarity as she was grabbed by a pair of stallions from behind. Fluttershy and the now depressed Pinkie took only one where Applejack and Rainbow Dash needed about five earth ponies to hold them down.
"Tonight we charge the Orphange!" The crowd cheered as the elements were hauled off. Once the meeting was over, Midnight split his followers in three groups. One to invade the library and capture Twilight, Shining, and Cadence. Another was to stay behind and prep the town hall for the hanging of the queen. The final was with him to capture the queen. If they succeeded, he would be declared an Equestrian hero.
"Do you really have to stay the night?" Asked Twilight, glancing over at her brother who was sitting down by the fireplace, a book on ancient war techniques held in his aura. The white stallion nodded as his wife walked back in with a pot of tea.
"Yep. I want to keep an eye out for this stallion for a few more days as well as keep an eye on you two." said the stallion with a wink. Twilight turned crimson at the comment. The mare huffed and looked away.
"I think it would be wise to pay more attention to the threat at hand instead of my sex life." Answered the mare as she walked back over to the couch where Cadence set the tea in front of. She sat down next to the pink mare and proceeded to pour herself a cup.
"I'm actually here just to see how this turns out." said Cadence, lifting her own cup to her lips. "As you can imagine, being the Princess of Love, I'm very attracted to the idea of putting two ponies together." The pink mare giggled.
"Yeah, she loves the idea so much she has a list of ships." said Shining with a chuckle, causing Cadence and Twilight to choke on their tea.
"Shining! I thought we agreed not to tell anypony about that!" Exclaimed the pink alicorn, causing the stallion to break into laughter.
"You ship ponies for a hobby?" Asked Twilight in disbelief.
"I just write down who I think would be a great couple!" Said Cadence defensively. Twilight sighed before laughing, soon being joined in by Cadence. It was refreshing to know that they went from going at each other's throats the night before to laughing along with each other like a family. Except for the fact that Chrysalis had Orphanage work.
The sound of knocking at the door went ignored by the laughing ponies. Spike, who was trying to read one of his comics in the main lobby, attempted to ignore the insistent knocking until it was certain the others were not going to answer. With a sigh, he set down the comic and shuffled towards the door.
"Yeah, yeah, don't worry. I always got the door." said the drake with a sigh as he opened the door. "I'm sorry, but we ar-" Spike paused at the sight of over twenty ponies standing in front of the door, each armed with a club from he could tell.
"I'm not going to get to reading tonight, am I?" His answer was given by the feeling of a bat connecting with the top of his head. The purple dragon was lucky that his race were notoriously hard headed, literally. However, the sound of the bat cracking over his head did well to alert the other three ponies that were in the home.
"Spike, is everything alright?" Asked Twilight as she cautiously walked into the lobby, Shining and Cadence behind her. The cup that, for some reason, was still in her aura fell to the ground as she caught sight of the unconscious drake. Shining sighed inward.
"See? This is why I insisted on staying the night." With a battle cry, the mob entered the library.
Chrysalis, without her disguise of True Hearts, sat in the main living room in front of the shocked faces of the kids and few staff members. The changeling queen casted a worried look over the children, hoping for no screaming. She was equally worried about the staff members trying to remove her as head or trying to get the town against her.
"Cool!" Chrysalis blinked as the one voice of a colt broke through the silence. It wasn't long until the other children started agreeing. Chrysalis visibly relaxed as the weight was taken off of her shoulders.
"See? I told you the kids here wouldn't mind." said Scootaloo smugly. Chrysalis chuckled and looked over at the orange Pegasus next to her.
"Yes, but I'm more worried about them." said Chrysalis gesturing to the three staff mares. Chef, and two maids who helped keep the Orphanage clean as well as take care of all the foals and children.
Standing, she motioned for the three to follow her, leaving the kids to talk amongst themselves. Chrysalis chuckled at the sight before leading the three ponies into her office and closing the doors.
"Why are you here?" Asked a grey mare with a pink mane the moment the doors closed. Chrysalis sighed and sat behind her desk.
"To start over. If I had some grand plan to take over Equestria, I wouldn't reveal myself until the last minute." said the queen. She smiled softly. "Besides, I have all the love I could need."
"So you're just feeding off of the children's love?!" Shouted the other mare, a green earth pony. Chrysalis shook her head.
"Not mainly. Yes, here and there, but it's freely given. They give it to True Hearts, who doesn't even exist beyond here, and I feed on that from time to time. My main food source is my marefriend, who knows who I am and is more than aware of what I did in the past."
"But why tell us?" Asked Chef, the only calm headed one.
"Because I need support." said Chrysalis. "My plan is to restart my race, of which I am the last of. To do so, I need to obviously feed on enough love to help me survive pregnancy, which I need to check results next week, and then once my child is born, I plan on trying to open a peace treaty of Equestria. It's better to have allies in this battle."
"So you're opening up to anyone you can trust." finished Chef. Chrysalis nodded.
"Yup. I have no mind-control spells, no evil plans, just a simple goal to fix my mistakes." The other two mares were about to respond when the sound of the door of the Orphanage getting kicked in and children screaming reached their ears.
"You didn't tell anyone else, did you?" Asked Chef.
"Besides the elements and my marefriend's brother and sister, no." Chrysalis shot of her chair, switched into True Hearts, and walked out into the main living room to see a large group of ponies armed with torches and clubs.
"You better not get any of that on my walls!" Shouted the grey mare, pointing at the torches. True shot her a deadpan look before facing the mob once more.
"May I ask why I have a mob in my Orphanage? If you do not leave, I will be forced to call on the Local Guard and have you arrested for Breaking And Entry and Property Damage." said True, staring at the intruders. A midnight blue stallion with a silver mane stepped ahead of the crowd.
"We know that you are Chrysalis. There is no point in hiding anymore." said the stallion with a smirk. Chrysalis blinked and shrugged.
"Alright. That only means I can charge you with Invasion of privacy since, according to my marefriend's brother, you caught us doing certain..." Chrysalis paused looked around at the terrified foals. "...activities when you peeked in our window."
"Just come quietly so we can finish this and release the ponies under the spell all the more quickly." said the stallion. The ponies behind him advanced, causing Chrysalis to involuntarily step backwards, her nerve starting to fail her again.
"I have no pony under my control. Do you even know how hard it is to control one, let alone four? It's impossible!" Said Chrysalis, starting to panic. The stallion growled.
"Lies!" A tap on his hoof made him look down at a terrified blue filly who looked up at him.
"Pleawse, mista, leave miss Chywsalis alone. She didn't do anything." pleaded the filly. Chrysalis smiled warmly at the sight. It warmed her to know she was able to impact the children's life the way she did that they would protect her. However, the stallion just scoffed.
"Now she resorts to using foals to do her work. Mind control on fillies and colts is unforgivable." sneered the stallion, looking back at the mob behind him.
"What?! How evil do you think I am?!" Asked Chrysalis as the others in the room, save for the three staff members, grumbled their agreement.
"Unfit to walk on this earth." replied the stallion, causing Chrysalis to freeze. The mare watched on horror as the mob approached. Ponies held back the staff members and any daring foals as the midnight blue stallion approached her.
"P-please, I didn't do anything." pleaded Chrysalis, starting to shrink back in fear. The stallion scoffed.
"I've had enough of your lies." Her world turned black.
The world faded back to life in a mixture of sound and pain as it lanced through Chrysalis' skull. Memories of what just occurred flashed through her mind as her surroundings slowly came to life, black giving way to Town Square.
Chrysalis found herself bound in front of a crowd of ponies, some stone faced while some were horrified. She didn't need to look down to see she was in her true form, it was obvious as of now. However, she was more curious as to her full surroundings.
"Turning her head to the right she found the five elements of harmony, similarly bound such as her, but that was it. Only rope held the five mares as they stared at the crowd, AJ and Rainbow Dash fighting against their ropes. She then turned her head to the left, and felt her heart drop.
The method to quietly take ahold of Twilight was ruined by the mares effort to fight back the forces of ponies. Her, Shining, and Cadence all had multiple cuts and bruises on their faces and bodies from fending off clubs and spells casted at them. Twilight, however, had a good,trickle of blood down her cheek.
Now fully awake, Chrysalis became fully aware of the splitting pain coming from her horn. Letting out a scream of pain, the queen thrashed in her restraints to try and discover and relieve her pain, only to stop as a jagged, black horn was tossed in front of her.
"Didn't want you casting any spells before we finished." said the black stallion from earlier. Chrysalis stared at her horn then turned back to her marefriend who stared back with tears in her eyes.
"What have you done to her?" Asked Chrysalis through gritted teeth. The stallion scoffed.
"I should be asking you that. She keeps trying to tell us you are innocent, that you two are a happy couple, but we all know that is not in changeling ways." said the stallion as he crouched down so he was level with her. "Now, what did you do to them?"
"You want to fucking know?" She growled. She turned her head so she was staring at the crowd. "I dropped a mask I put up in the face of hunger, trying to find a way to feed a race that was doomed from a decision I made before any of you were a thought! I came here for food as the last of a race. I made friends, I got a marefriend, I lived life as I would have liked my race to.
"And yet you," she spat, looking at the black stallion. "You just want to kill me because I frighten you. Because you don't know who or what I am. You are afraid so your solution is killing me while justifying your actions by saying I'm evil and taking control of ponies."
"You don't scare me, insect! No pony scares Midnight! And how else do you explain her comfort with you?" Asked Midnight.
"Because I saw a side of her that ponies refuse to believe exists." Everyone turned towards Twilight, who thankfully only had on a limiter. "I watched as she had to let the last fifty changelings of her race die. I watched her show emotion that many don't believe is possible because of what she had to do to survive.
"Look at her," said Twilight, gesturing towards Chrysalis, who was still shaking from fear, with her head. "She is terrified. Tell me, if she is a monster, what does that make you if you kill off the last of the changeling race? Monsters only fear bigger monsters." Midnight scoffed.
"And what proof do you have of this?" Twilight went silent. Chrysalis however, found now a good time to try and run. She instinctively made to clean her fangs, something she remembered leading to am accident only a week ago, but spat onto the chains bonding her.
Once the metal was mostly eaten through, the changeling broke free from the restraints and lunged forward, grabbing the remains of her horn in her mouth before preparing to run over to Twilight's side. The lavender unicorn saw this as well as the ponies running towards the changeling.
"No! Run!" Shouted out Twilight, fighting against the rope. Chrysalis shook her head, causing Twilight to groan. "I don't want to watch you die so get your flank out of here!" Chrysalis froze, looking around her surroundings, watching as ponies closed in around her. The changeling casted one last look at her beloved.
I love you. Chrysalis took to the air just as the ponies around her pounced. Before they could reach her, the changeling was already setting a course for Canterlot Castle, ignoring the sound of pegasi trying to catch up behind her.
For you, my children yet to be conceived, and the future of our races, I will come back and save you. With that, the changeling broke speed records for flying on insect wings as she raced towards the throne room.
"Sister! We require your audience!" Shouted a worried Luna, switching back to Royal We in her slight panic. While Celestia was busy trying to settle border disputes with the Gryphon Empire by negotiating with the ambassador, Luna was set with the task of trying to get back in contact with Cadence to set up some trade negotiations with the Crystal Empire. Of course, she wasn't able to find or contact the other alicorn.
"Luna, I am in the middle of a meeting." said Celestia in an annoyed tone, wiping the exhaustion from her eyes as the indigo princess rushed into the throne room.
"It is an important matter we must discuss now!" Said Luna as she walked past the rather pissed Gryphon ambassador. Celestia sighed as the alicorn approached.
"What is so improtant that it couldn't wait until the meeting was over?" Asked the elder mare.
"I can't contact either Twilight or Cadence." said Luna in a concerned tone.
"They are probably busy with some other business." said Celestia with a wave of her hoof.
"Tia, don't you remember why exactly Cadence and Shining Armour actually went to Ponyville and who is also there?" Realization slowly dawned on the white alicorns face.
"You don't think they figured ou-" Celestia was cut off as the throne room doors were opened a second time, a frantic guard rushing in. The gryphon ambassador face palmed and marched back towards his room for the night.
"Princess Celestia, Queen Chrysalis is at the gate!" Announced the guard. The two royal sisters looked at each other before standing and following the guard down to the gates.
"Why do you think she came all the way down her in her true form?" Asked Luna quietly. "She knows how much hate the public still holds for the wedding."
"I'm not sure. She should have been in disguise by the time she made it here." said Celestia, her wings twitching in anxiety.
"You think that she wasn't able to?"
"Luna, why wouldn't she be able to? It's a natural function to them." argued Celestia.
"I don't know, but I just have a bad feeling." said the younger alicorn. Celestia sighed and nodded.
"I know exactly what you mean." said the solar goddess as they rounded the corner. The two froze as they saw the scene before them.
Chrysalis was laying on the cobble stones, breathing heavily but kept a firm grip on the jagged object in her mouth. Green blood trickled down her face from a stump which one could tell once was a horn. Bruises covered her chitin in multiple places. The two could only gape as the half-conscious changeling slowly sat back up and placed her horn on the ground.
"Took you two long enough." said the queen, spatting out a glob of green blood onto the floor.
"What in the name of Equestria happened to you?" Asked Celestia, slowly approaching the injured changeling. The queen look away, growling slightly. The guards around her instinctively raised their spears, thinking it was directed at the princess.
"Some plot hole caught me and Twi....uh...doing stuff and managed to get pictures of me both in and out of disguise." said Chrysalis, staring at the remainder of her horn that sat on the ground. "He rallied up a large number of ponies and capture me, Cadence, Shining, the elements, and Twi." A growl escaped her throat. "They beat her despite thinking she was under my control."
Celestia fell down onto her haunches in shock, her sister following suit. The brutality of what had occurred without them knowing was beyond belief. The detaching of her horn alone was a painful process due to the nerve bundles spread throughout, plus they didn't know if changelings grew back their horns as unicorns and alicorns do.
"Ponies did this? Our ponies?" Asked Celestia quietly. Chrysalis nodded slowly.
"What I did is still deep in ponies minds, despite my reasons and justifications. In their eyes, I'm a monster that needs to be killed for everything to be right in the world again." said Chrysalis. She growled lightly before wincing, pain surging through the remainder of her horn.
"They removed your horn as well?" Asked Luna, concerned for the changeling Queen. Chrysalis nodded.
"Apparently a horn limiter was too much to ask for." grumbled Chrysalis. Luna slowly approached the changeling and inspected the black stump on her head. Blood poured from the jagged wound on her head. It would take a pony three months to regrow, an alicorn one. Changelings, however, might not regrow them.
"How long will it take before it grows back in?" Asked Luna, staring at the stump. Chrysalis slowly pushed the indigo princess out of her personal space before speaking once again.
"It doesn't. I have to physically reattach it to my skull and wait a month before I can do more than levitate small objects." said the changeling with a sigh. Celestia sighed herself.
"And how do we exactly do that?" Asked Celestia. Chrysalis blinked and looked around. Her eyes stopped at one of the guards who immediatly started to sweat. She then, much to the confusion and relief to the guard, removed his helmet.
The Queen took a deep breath and spat a wad of acid into helmet. Acting fast, she punched herself in the gut and forced herself to spat out blood into the helmet, stopping the acid from eating through it. She then took her hoof and stirred the resultant.
"It's a healing base that we usually use for reattaching horns. It only works with horns since it can't recreate or reconnect muscle." answered Chrysalis before anyone could question her. She paused and looked into the helmet before setting it down and turning to Luna.
"I need you to find me some cloth to wrap around my horn to keep it in place before we can get a proper cast on it." Luna nodded and pointed to a guard who nodded and went to fetch the object.
"What else do you need?" Asked Luna.
"I need you to levitate my horn close to me." said Chrysalis, reaching her hoof back into the helmet. Luna complied and brought the jagged horn close to the changeling's reach just as the guard came back with a piece of tapestry.
"Alright, I need you to listen closely." said Chrysalis as she finished lathering the concoction on the base of the horn. "I need you place my horn back on my head exactly how it should sit. Then, as soon as it's on, wrap the cloth firmly around the break off point." finished Chrysalis, dipping her head slightly to give Luna a more detailed view of the stump.
It was easy to see how the horn fit since she could see a rise in the back with a matching dip on the actual horn. The challenge was fitting the two together without hurting the queen. She bit her lip as she carefully lowered the horn fragment over the stump, held it there, and pressed the pieces together.
Chrysalis hissed as pain lanced through her skull, barely feeling the cloth slip around it. Tears started to form just as the patching was finished and the two backed away from the Queen, letting her recover.
"Damn, that hurt like hell." mumbled Chrysalis as she straightened back up. "So now what are you going to do besides hover over me?" Celestia sighed.
"Well, I think the only thing we can do is to fly to Ponyville as fast we can and fix this before they cause more damage to the town and the others." said Celestia. The thought of more pain befalling Twilight made the changeling growl slightly. Celestia noticed.
"Chrysalis, can you handle to be teleported in your state?" Asked the goddess.
"I should be. Why?" Asked the changeling.
"Oh, no reason." Celestia lit her horn and engulfed the three alicorns in a golden glow before teleporting them in a flash of white.
Twilight had to admit that her day could have been better. Getting beaten by ponies definitly wasn't on her to do list. Neither was getting captured, witnessing her marefriend lose her horn and nearly get decapitated for crimes that don't exist. And to make it all worse, the stallion that made it all possible was hitting on her.
"I seriously hope you realize I'm gay." said Twilight, glaring at Midnight. The black unicorn just waved her off.
"Yeah. I'll probably have better chance when we remove from Chrysalis' spell. It's a shame such a beautiful mare such as yourself fell under her spell." said the stallion, lifting her chin up with a hoof, eliciting a growl from Shining.
"Oh come on, how can I be afraid of you when you fell for the same trick twice?" Asked Midnight, looking at Shining.
"I will enjoy beating your ass when we are released." said the white unicorn. Midnight scoffed.
"That changeling could have hardly gotten anywhere in her state. I doubt she could have gotten help from her changeling kin." said Midnight with a wave of his hoof.
"What other changelings?" Midnight turned over to Twilight. "I don't know if you are aware, but she is the last living changeling and did what she did because she had to in order to try and save her hive." said the unicorn.
"And I'm supposed to believe that?" There was a flash of light and a collective gasp as two alicorns and one changeling appeared in the center of the square.
"You can go and check the caves in the Everfree if you want. You will find a hives worth of dead bodies." said Chrysalis from her position on Celestia's shoulder. She casted her gaze to the shocked Twilight and smirked. "I'm tough to get rid of." she admitted.
"Now you try and make us believe that these are actually the princesses?" Asked Midnight, keeping relatively calm despite most of his followers giving in and bowing.
"I can assure you, I am very real, and very disappointed." said Celestia in cold tone. She took a step torwards where the others were, keeping in mind of the Changeling leaning against her shoulder.
"Despite what you believe, I watched as Chrysalis cut off the life support of her remaining changelings and ended all magic. I even checked the caves myself not that long ago to find them filled with dead changelings." said Celestia. "I'm even more disappointed in your 'method' of handling this.
"Imprisoning the innocent, beating them, dehorning them, and nearly removing their heads is not how we handle things in Equestria, even in the olden days we rarely resorted to those methods." said Celestia, stopping just before the quivering Midnight. "And as punishment, I will have you throne into the Castle Dungeons for a lifetime for attempted murder. As for the rest of the town, a warming. If I learn that harm becomes of Chrysalis or Twilight in the form of a pony, I will start throwing even more ponies in jail."
Chrysalis limped away from Celestia's shoulder and made her way to Twilight, wetting her tongue with acid to help remove the rope. Twilight watched as the beaten changeling worked at the ropes, wincing every so often in pain.
"I'm so sorry. I should have put more wards around the library." said Twilight, tears starting to for, in her eyes. Chrysalis pulled her head back as the last bit of rope broke free. She turned her head and gave a quick peck on the mares cheek.
"It wasn't your fault. I guess I was a bit too reckless and that nearly got me killed." said Chrysalis sheepishly. Twilight rolled her yes and kissed the mare on the cheek, wanting to avoid her mouth for now.
"Just rest and let me get the others." said Twilight, using her hooves to remove the limiter from her horn. Once free, she cut the ropes off the others and removed their horn limiters.
Once free himself, Shining Armour stood a strode over to Midnight, who was still shaking under Celestia's glare. Catching him off guard, Shining landed a blow just below the stallion's chin and sent him flying across the square.
"I told him I would kick his ass." said Shining. Celestia chuckled and began looking for the local guard. Back over by the Town Hall, Twilight held Chrysalis in her hooves while the others tried to find help.
"You know you were crazy for trying to fly all the way to Canterlot, right?" Asked the unicorn mare. Chrysalis scoffed.
"I had to make sure I got a chance to have my turn." said Chrysalis with a wink. Twilight laughed and kissed the changeling's forehead.
"I love you." she whispered.
"I love you too." whispered Chrysalis just as her world faded.
Even Changelings Wear Masks
The cool night air blew through the dark caves, adding on to the cold air already inside the stone shelter. Chrysalis cursed the gods above as the cold draft blew over her body. She had been cursing a lot lately.
The gods, the ponies, herself, and her stupid weakness. Though, was it really stupid? Or was it just how she dealt with trying to sate it? For some time, she had been leaning towards the latter. It seemed to fit, especially when she walked among the hundreds of injured in the caves around her.
Hundreds of thousands of changelings, injured and beaten as well as starved. Out of all of the emotions she could have her drones feed off of, it had to be love. It was difficult and risky to achieve while so easy and plentiful. She should have chose pride and joy. It was radiated and more than easy to acquire. But her weakness played a part in that as well. And it all led to the situation she was in now. Sitting in a cave in the Everfree Forest, a whole hive, her hive, own the very brink of extinction, and she can't do much more. There was one thing she could do, however.
Leave, find enough love to sustain herself, and create a new hive. Restart her race after she oh so foolishly killed it off because of a single weakness that she let get the better of her. If it wasn't for her weakness, she wouldn't have led the attack on Canterlot, she wouldn't have to try a find love, the most difficult to collect emotion, for an entire hive. Restarting was her only option. Besides, the death rates were extreme and it would only be another day or two before the population declined to around a hundred changelings. With the next day or two, it would only be her to give birth to her race and start it off again. Correctly.
The tall changeling sighed as she neared the entrance to the cave. It was a cool night, the sky clear of any clouds that she could see from her position in the forest. Luna's moon shone brightly in the night, illuminating the tree tops and the entrance in its silver light. Chrysalis smiled lightly. She always found the moon beautiful, it gave the perfect background to feed off of, though the act of feeding off of love disgusted her slightly, but it was her weakness and it caught up to her and bit her in the ass.
She sighed and took to the air, her insect wings spreading and taking her higher into the air as she rode the cold air currents. Chrysalis took this flight to try and discover her position in not only the forest, but in Equestria as well. It was up her that she found the oncoming wall of thunder heads, hidden by the tree canopy. She sighed as she searched for the nearest path towards the nearest town.
As Chrysalis landed, she decided to start thinking of a disguise to keep herself under. The task included figuring out a race, coat color, mane color, name, and most importantly, a talent and cutie mark. If changelings were accepted among ponies, their very instinctive imaginative skills could be used in many ways. Maybe even create a few famous authors. Sadly, this was not the case in the extinct race's case.
After a while Chrysalis finished her persona and set out with a bit more power in her step knowing she had a bit more of a chance. Though, at her point in desperation, she would risk seducing Celestia if it meant she could get a meal, no matter how short. She cared not how she fed from or who she had sex with, as long as she could give her race a new and more deserving start than the one she gave them.
The clouds above started to rain on her, bringing down drops of rain onto her dark chitin. Her jade eyes looked up at the falling rain. The rain ran down her face perfectly with her tears. She had failed an entire race and brought it to extinction. All because of one stupid mistake she made oh so many years ago. Now she had to try and fix it, maybe even work treaties with Celestia and the ponies if she could. But that would be a bridge she crossed, carefully, later. Now she needed a race to make treaties with. Now, it was just her.
The path finally left the forest, leading her out into the open. From her position, Chrysalis could see the town she spotted in the sky. It was familiar and the welcome sign confirmed her suspicions.
She was entering the town of Ponyville, home of the Elements of Harmony.
~~~~~~
Twilight Sparkle was the town's librarian and apparently the go to pony for every crisis in the small earth pony town of Ponyville. The lavender unicorn mare seemed to have a talent for attracting and solving trouble. As did the other five elements, apparently.
The star pupil of none other than Princess Celestia sat in the library living quarters at her desk. A book was wide open on her desk, describing different theories for transformation magic. Ever since the changelings attacked Canterlot and showed themselves, Twilight was obsessed with how the creatures were able to transform into other ponies on a will, just a thought.
So far, however, here research has turned up nothing worth note and was not hard enough to risk harming herself or others to see if it worked. From what she could tell, the changelings used a more natural and instinctive magic only found in changelings to transform into another form.
As for ponies, they had to do a more difficult spell that needed more expirence in the field of magic as well as more understanding in the science nature of magic. Thankfully she had both. There was also the fact that to cast the spell correctly, you had to have a good idea of what you wanted to transform into. This included coat color, mane and tail color, eye color, and cutie mark. You also had to know how the pony usually looks and sounds like to give the full appearance a full effect.
What Twilight was missing was one small equation to put it all together and create the full effect. Right now, the equation was enough to change only one thing. She could manipulate voices, colors, and styles, but not all at once. That was what she needed to figure out to make it all successful.
A knock on her front door broke Twilight out of her thought process. She frowned and looked up at the clock. Quarter after midnight. Twilight sighed and placed a bookmark in her tome before walking down the stairs to greet her visitor, even if it was past midnight.
"I'm coming, hold on to your hooves." said Twilight as the knocking continued. She opened the door to the library to reveal a cold and tired red pony, her mane a light pink with a pair of jade eyes. Her cutie mark was of a triplet of small pink hearts. Twilight refrained from frowning as she picked up an aura of green magic surrounding the mare. She forced a smile on her face as she gazed through the disguise to the changeling underneath.
"Good evening, how may I help you?" Asked Twilight. Her magic finally broke through and allowed her to see the changeling. Queen Chrysalis stood in front of her, her expression was sad and slightly pained although her disguise was smiling despite her tiredness. Chrysalis' eyes were glazed over as if she had been crying and her gaze was distant.
"Good evening, my name is True Hearts. I got lost and I was wondering if I could stay the night." The mares voice was peppy even though the changeling underneath was anything but. It was unsettling. Twilight would have loved to throw her to the nearest dungeon, but something stopped her. Something about the helpless look on the changeling queens face made her pause at the idea.
"Of course, come right in." said Twilight. Chrysalis smiled weakly. She walked into the library proper, yawning as the door closed behind her. She looked around the room before turning to the mare.
"So ponies found a way to find us." said the queen. The magic aura faded, signaling her disguise was dropped. Twilight dropped her own magic and glared at her.
"What is it you want? You are just lucky I let you in but if you make the wrong move I-"
"I'm rebuilding, Twilight." Silence covered the room. The changelings sad, distant expression returned. What exactly happened after the invasion?
"What do you mean 'rebuilding'? You had over five thousand changelings when you invaded, how could you possibly need to rebuild?" Asked Twilight. The changeling sighed and sat down on the floor.
"I made a mistake when I became Queen. I had a choice to keep the emotion we already fed on or another. As it should be obvious now, I chose another. Because of this, we quickly starved and I had to invade. This only worsened the situation I dug us in. All because I have a weakness for love.
"I find it beautiful, sad, compelling, fearful. It has attracted me to it and out of pure foolishness I chose to feed on it. Only problem is that while it is extremely plentiful, it is the most difficult to retrieve.
"Tell me Twilight, if you were in my hooves and you knew you had a hoof in killing an entire race, what would you do?" Asked the changeling, looking up at the unicorn. Twilight looked away and sighed.
"Try to make it better in any way possible." She said with a sigh. Chrysalis nodded.
"Then you understand why I am here. I'm here to feed off of love, not steal it. Then I will find a stallion or mare to mate with an rebirth my race that way. It will take time, but in the end I hope to have my race back on its hooves, maybe a few relations with ponies if I can get that far without somepony tearing my heart out." said Chrysalis with a grim laugh. Twilight was in a tough position. Here was the creature that trapped her sister-in-law in the crystal caves underneath Canterlot, impersonated her, stole love from her brother, attacked Celestia, and led a full scale invasion on Canterlot. But now, she knows that this was all out of a desperate attempt to feed a dying race. She didn't know wether to trust her completely, but the way the changeling looked, talked, and acted contradicted how she knew Chrysalis was at the wedding.
"No hurting ponies and you keep your disguise up your entire stay except in the confines of the library. Of you break any of these, I will have you locked up faster then you can react." said Twilight as she walked up the stairs. Chrysalis smiled and stood up, following her up the stairway.
"You will stay here. Spike makes breakfast early so try to stay in here so we can try to explain this without him trying to set you on fire." said Twilight as she opened the door to the guest room.
"Fire breathing dragon wakes up early, breakfast, try not to scare or I become fried Chrysalis, got it." said Chrysalis as she made her way to the guest bed. She sighed happily as she fell onto it. It was a nice change from cold stone floors. Twilight thought for a moment before walking in and closing the door behind her.
"How exactly do you feed?" Asked the mare as she sat across from Chrysalis. Chrysalis sat up and pondered for a moment.
"Love, and other emotions, flow from ponies such as an aura. Changelings can sense these and digest it. We can force it out for a better effect, copy a lover for even more, or both for even more than that. However, to get maximum, we have to love and be loved." said Chrysalis, tapping her chin as she recalled the information. She nodded to herself when she was sure her information was correct.
"So, can't you find another changeling and feed off of that?" Asked the studious mare. Chrysalis shook her head.
"Nope. Changelings do not flow emotion. So we have to gather from other races. Ponies seem to be the most loving so it makes sense to feed off them." said Chrysalis, leaning up against the wall.
"Well, how do you breed then?" It was a very unexpected question and an odd one for Chrysalis. She would expect it to be common knowledge on how breeding works. But, in hindsight, not many ponies would actually know how changelings actually breed.
"Well, um, same the way as ponies, I guess. We find somepony, have sex, and the female gets pregnant if the stallion isn't wearing protection or if the mare ain't on the pill. So, I guess the same way as any other creature." said Chrysalis, blushing madly. Twilight blushed as well as she realized what she just asked. What kind of pony asks how someone breeds? Twilight apparently.
"I guess that was a stupid question, huh?" Asked Twilight, scratching behind her neck. Chrysalis started to giggle. Her giggle turned into a chuckle and her chuckle turned into full blown laughter. It wasn't like how she laughed at the wedding. No, this was genuine, joyful, laughing. This mare was no longer the same desperate mare ready to invade a country because of her mistakes, this was a mare who was bent on making up for her mistakes and rebuilding her extinct race. If only there were more ponies like her in this world, then it would paradise. Though, that was probably the exhaustion talking.
"You know, it might not be that bad here. As long as I stay out of sight, feed enough, this might work well." said Chrysalis, smiling,
"Well, how are you going to find a pony to...well....you know." said Twilight, blushing. Chrysalis shrugged.
"The traditional way. Go looking, find a good mare or stallion, and date them as True Hearts and see how it all works out. This won't be a quick stay. I'm going to need a job, a house, a lively hood, all while making sure this stays between the three of us." said Chrysalis, tracing the edge of the bed with her hoof. Twilight sighed and stood.
"Well, tomorrow, we will look for a work place and a decently priced home. I will help you pay it off and move in but then I will just stand by, helping when needed." said Twilight, walking to the door.
"I will leave Spike a note to prepare extra for breakfast and we will deal with him later. Get some sleep. I think we will all need it." With that, Twilight bid Chrysalis good night and made her way to her own room.
True to her word, Twilight wrote a letter to Spike and set it where he was sure to see it when he woke up, long before she did. Snuffing out the candle, Twilight put a ward on the door and crawled into her bed. She laid there for a few minutes, trying to figure out how she wanted to go about this. Finally, she let sleep take her, lulling her into its depths of nether.
~~~~~
A few hours after she had fallen asleep, her wards woke her up, alerting her of an intruder in her room. She kept still as she faced the window, waiting for Chrysalis to attack so she could counter.
Her hoofsteps came close to the bed before stopping. Twilight tensed and waited, her magic slowly charging her horn without lighting it. She heard Chrysalis take a shuddering breath.
"Are you awake, Twilight?" She whispered. Twilight nodded slowly. Chrysalis sighed and sat on the bed.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't sleep. I keep having nightmares of some of the changelings I knew closely and what I did. C-can I sleep her tonight?" A mental war was raging in Twilight's mind. This was a changeling. They fed on love. But she knew very well now that they are just like ponies. And this very changeling was haunted by one single mistake. Now, she was asking to sleep with her
Spike could wake up and find them together in bed and jump straight to conclusions, but then again he hardly payed any attention after waking up. That's why her letter was on the fridge downstairs, his first stop in the morning. Twilight bit her lip but lifted the covers of the bed with her magic, inviting the changeling into the bed.
"Thank you." said the changeling, quiet enough to barely be heard. The weight shifted as Chrysalis took her spot in the bed. Twilight expected her to stop there. However, to her suprise, Chrysalis proceeded to nuzzle up to Twilight from behind. Twilight's cheeks burned crimson from the intimate contact from the changeling.
Twilight laid there in the Changeling's hooves, her mind racing faster than she could expect. Her mind fell away to just the two of them in the bed, caught up in an intimate position usually shared by lovers.
It was a silly idea, her and Chrysalis. She was the Element of Magic and Chrysalis was a Changeling Queen. It could possibly never work, right. And this was only because the queen was scared and Twilight was the comfort. They had only met that night, it's not like Chrysalis could have adopted feelings for her in that time. Or did it not start her, not tonight? What if It started all the way back to the wedding. Was that were this really started?
Twilight started taking deep breaths, calming herself. It was foolish. This was nothing. She should just sleep and take what challenges would come their way in the morning. Hopefully Chrysalis just didn't pick out and discover her feelings before she herself could figure them out.
