Report from the Royal Guard B.O.T.

The Black Operations Team was founded in 1962 as a special forces command within the Royal Guards, the most elite branch of the military. Out of the 150,000 Royal Guards, just 5,000 are in this command. Compare that to this: Out of the 2.6 Billion citizens in the country, about 1 Billion serve right now in one of these branches:

2. Navy

3. Air Force

4. Marine Corps

5. Coast Guard

6. Space Forces

7. Missile Strike Force

8. Royal Guard

9. National Guard <==Most serve here under the draft system.

The B.O.T. are truly the elite of the elite. They go through a strenuous and deadly training procedure. Since 1962, 26 trainees have died during training. Though tragic, they see these deaths as the training process weeding out those unfit for the role of a Black Ops Specialist. As a member of the B.O.T., you would see things like this. They go into some of the most hazardous and gruesome places. One gruesome mission involved the rescue of 6 citizens from a labour camp in The Crystal Empire. There, they found a pit containing the torched and mutilated bodies of 60 executed political prisoners. This was later used as evidence in the trials of several former generals in The Crystal Empire.

The B.O.T. are extremely important in the military. They are often part of the first attack on a country after war has been declared on said country by Equestria. They are also experts in counter-terrorism operations and counter-insurgency operations. Their existence was denied by the government until 2009, though by then, everyone knew who they were, though not many knew just how dangerous their missions were, until now.

The 1st mission against the Crystal Empire was launched in 1995. It was a covert mission to set bombs on the cars of nuclear scientists in the country. It had Nuclear Weapons, but nothing more powerful than 6 Little Boy bombs, and no missiles with ranges longer than IRBMs.. However, it was trying to build an ICBM with a warhead as powerful as 3 megatons of TNT.

The bombs were small but powerful. Made of 2 pounds of C4, they could easily be placed under the cover of night. They would be placed on 8 cars and were timed to go off during rush hour the next day on July 8.

On July 7, 15 B.O.T. soldiers sneaked into the capital of the country disguised as Crystal Empire soldiers using a spell. All 8 bombs were placed successfully, and the 15 agents were quickly sneaked out of the country by members of the underground resistance working for Equestria.

Sure enough, on July 8, all 8 bombs exploded, killing 6 of the scientists and 4 others. The mission, codenamed Mission GTH6, was a success. The Crystal Empire vowed to punish Equestria for the attack. On July 15, 4 crystal ponies were arrested in Equestria attempting to wire up a car filled with 20 pounds of explosives in Manehattan. It was widely believed King Sombra I personally ordered this thwarted attack on the largest city in Equestria. All 4 ended up getting death sentences and were executed by Lethal Injection at Tartarus Imperial Prison in 2000, having been tried by a national court rather than a provincial court.

The next day, Princess Celestia had a tense meeting with the commander of the Royal Guard. The meeting was taped but not made public until 2012.

Celestia began by saying, "To begin the meeting, I'd like to state that Mission GTH6 was a success. We knocked out many of the Crystal Empire's nuclear scientists in a single attack. We sure did kick ass."

"We sure did, your majesty," Summer Wind, Captain of the Royal Guard from 1993-2005, said. "I have an idea on what the next mission could be."

"How about a direct raid on a nuclear facility? We could raid Tashkrus (A Nuclear Research Facility), or we could go after Grunusheh (An Air Base in the Frozen North home to the Crystal Empire Air Force's Strategic Operations Command, the command responsible for aircraft-based nuclear weapons and deployment). There are so many targets that I could go on telling you about them for the entire day."

"That would be very daring, your majesty. Plus, the odds that those missions could fail are very high. I'd say about 50%-80%."

"Remember this, Summer," Celestia replied on the tape. "Never listen to probability. It's ridiculous. The odds that GTH6 could have failed were at 62%, yet everyone got home safe and sound, if not scared. After all, do you think most of my citizens supported it when I decided to step up aid to the Dragon Empire during the 4th Great War in 1949, 2 years before we got involved? Fuck no. But, in hindsight, it was the right thing to do. Always be cautious when you listen to that stuff. It isn't always right."

"I guess you're right, your majesty," Summer Wind said. "And I'm surprised you swore."

"It doesn't really matter. After all, we're both mature adults here."

"Indeed we are, your majesty. I guess now it's time to choose which target the Black Operations Team will attack. Of course, no one will know who did it until after it has been done. Though everyone in the country knows about the group, we still deny its existence. It's like a poorly-kept secret."

Sure enough, the next mission was soon in the planning stages. It was to target either Tashkrus or Grunusheh. Celestia even considered targeting both at the same time. The B.O.T. was now preparing for more missions. The only questions left were what will be targeted and when will they be targeted.

Meanwhile, King Sombra made his own decision on how to respond to Equestrian attacks. He decided that every time Equestria launched a covert ops mission against him, he would send terrorists into the country with the Changeling Revolutionary Army's help.

The C.R.A. is a Changeling Kingdom-sponsored terrorist group infamous for committing numerous suicide bombings and other attacks in Equestria during the 1980s and 1990s. In one attack on Canterlot's Central Station and rail network in 1989, 92 were killed when 5 suicide bombers blew themselves up on trains. It was the 2nd deadliest attack on Equestrian Soil, after the bombing of Equestria Airways Flight 72, which killed all 356 on board in 1982.

An alliance between Changelina and The Crystal Empire was the last thing anyone in Equestria or its allies wanted. It was up to the B.O.T. to disrupt this and make sure the 2 biggest threats to Equestria stayed away from each other, as well as achieve other objectives.
