Too late

A few months earlier

Celestia screams as she pushes, sweat building on her brow as she pushed. Her lover, princess aurora, held her hoof as she squeezed hard on it. "Thats it. Come on darling." Celestia nodded and panted as she pushed again, this time, the room was filled with the gasping cries of a neborn foal. Aurora smiled as her new dughter was cleaned and brought to her by the nurse. "Here she is..." princess aurora took the foal in her silver magic and smiled down at her love.

"Celestia..." she gasped out, her eyes filled with tears as she held her daughter close. "L...let..me see... our daughter..." aurora gently gave her foal to the one who brought her into this world. A proud mother took place of the ruler of the sun. She smiled as tears of joy and happiness rain down her cheeks. "Shes beautiful..." she says as she places a hoof under her daughters chin, bringing the foals face up to her mothers.

The foal opened her eyes slowly, but surly. She yawned and looked at her mothers face for the very first time. Her magenta eyes twinkleing in the moonlight. "She has your eyes, love..." aurora nuzzles her lover and kisses her forehead softly. "Yes...yes she does..." celestia smiled and leaned against the large black pony that was her mate. "Look...she has your color..." the foal bore her mothers black coat, shining from the water used to clean her. "And your hair too..."

The foal had silver tipped red hair, with black stripes along the back. "I don't care, shes as beautiful as the both of you.." a dark blue alicorn stepped into the room, her hair glowing softly in the moonlight. "Sister..." Celestia held up the child to her elder sibling. "Hello there little one..." luna said as she gently nuzzles the baby. "Truly beautiful.." she adds. "Almost as beautiful ad you, my darling..." aurora says to her other mate.

Luna blushes brightly at the comment and smiles. "Tis only true, my darling.." a dark figure approached the mares, her blue mane, a mist of stars. Her dark purple coat, the deepest night sky. And her dragon-like eyes, gentle and a soft torquoise. "Nightmare..." luna nuzzles her as they all look at the child.

Unbeknownst to them all, a scream filled the night as a dragon flew into canterlot and destroyed a statue of the four princess's.

Ponies screamed as the dragon headed for the main part of the castle, the gaurds headed for it, trying to protect their princess's. They were out smarted by the beast as two more showed up and hit them from behind, sending them to their deaths below in the streets. "Ill take the higher towers, you two take the inside. Find her, do your job, and then ill do mine." The scaley beasts nodded and went into the main entrance of the caslte, breaking the walls and killing several maids and guards.

They had no remorse as a recruit shot a magical arrow at one of the dragons head, at which the other stabbed him in the chest with his sharp tail. Spilling his blood on the floor and left him gasping for air. But the other dragon rushed his skull as he went past, insuring that their was no witnesses. A maid screamed, but was silenced as her throat was slit, her blood staining the walls and her body going limp. They cackled and made their way closer and closer to the delivery room.

"Where do you think your going..?" A large, black dragoness stood in front of the room. Her wings folded against her sides. Her hard green eyes locked on the intruders, ready to kill if nessesary. "What are you doing, sister? This is our mission!" The larger of the two males steps forward, his muscles tense as he glared at her. "I think, you have the wrong castle. I live here, i want nothing to do with this invasion. And if you think that for a second that ill let you pass, your mistaken..." she hisses deeply in her throat, threatening them.

The smaller of the two snort and charge at her. In a flash of green fire, he dropped like a stone to the floor, half his body burnt to ashes. The insides of him exposed to the air, creating a sicking stench thqt made the large dragon wrinkle his nose. "You killed your own brother...?!" He shouted to her. She steped into the pill of ashes and chuckled. "I am no dragon, and he was not my brother.." in a flash of green fire, she changed her shape.

Scales turning to sickly, black ash colored fur. Her stature shrunk, but not by a lot. She was still taller then an alicirn, but her siaze difference was made up in her body. In the dragons place stood a bleeding, blood stained manticore. Its head tilted to the side in a sicking way, a crack sounded as she took a step forward. The hallway turning darker. "W-what are you?!" He yelled. "I'm your worst nightmare...." she lunged at him and all that was heard, was a loud snap.

The dragon stood their and then he started to crumble, his flesh dripping off of him like water. His blood pooling around him as he disolved. His last breathe was taken as she snapped his neck in two. He fell, only bones, to the cold hard bloody floor. She smirks and realized it was a deversion as the door to the delivery room was shut. "No...no...no!"

She ran back to the room, slipping on his blood as she slams into the door, tearing it off its hinges. "Aurora!?" She looked around frantically as she saw her mates on the floor, including the weakend celestia, clutching her daughter in her shaking hooves. Trying to calm her down, she looked up at the changling. "C-chrysalis..." the changling queen ran to her lovers side and helped her from under the bed.

"Where is aurora?" The shocked mare pointed to the balcony, were a black mass lied. "S...she defended us..." the queen rushed over to the balcony and held a hoof over the limp body. "Aurora.." she shed a few tears and buried her head into the black fur of her wife. As she wept, the others got up slowly and looked around. Luna and night,are gasped and rushed to her side. "What happened..?"

Her words were stained with her own blood. "d...dragons.."
