Justice Chapter 3

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Fire… burning walls… smoke filled hallways… I cough, and look around wildly, trying to figure out what’s happening. I look up, and see my parents.

“Why couldn’t you save us?” My Mom sweetly asks.

“Why did you leave us?” My Dad asks in concern.

Then together, they shout,

“Why did you leave us to die!”

*GASP!*

My eyes shoot wide open as I wake up startled from this recurring nightmare. My pulse was through the roof, my breathing labored. I close my eyes to calm myself down, repeating out loud,

“It was just a dream, it was just a dream.”

Once I had calmed down enough, I opened my eyes again to see where I was. I was in this little hut, laying down on a bed of some sort. I look up at the walls and see strange potions and glaring masks all around.

“This can’t be good,” I muttered.

I tried to move and found myself immobilized.

“This defiantly isn’t good,” I say slightly louder, with panic rising in my voice.

Only then do I realize something.

I’m alive.

“Wait a minute, the poison, my wounds, how am I alive??”

I look down on my body and see that I’m covered in bandages.

“Huh, so that’s why I can’t move,” I thought. “Whoever lives here saved my life.”

Just then, I hear a rustle from outside, and I see the door to the hut open. In trots, of all things, a zebra. Seeing me conscious, she, (At least I assumed it was a she), trotted over and said,

“ I’m glad to see you are awake, with such bad wounds and venom, I was afraid you were going to break.” “Huh?” Was my super-intelligent reply.

She clarified, saying,

“Manticore venom affects the mind, sometimes it even makes ponies go blind.”

“That would explain my blurry vision before I passed out, and why that nightmare was unusually vivid,”

I thought. I glanced up at her and simply said,

“Thank you.”

“The pleasure is mine, I saw what happened in the field between Ponyville and this forest. I know what it is like to be chased off because you look different,” She said seriously, without rhyming.

I nodded my head, and seeing that I was in fairly safe hands, er, hooves, I laid back down and fell asleep.

I awoke to the sounds of a struggle outside. It was so brief though, that I wondered if I had imagined it. I glanced down at my body, and noticed the bandages were gone. I stiffly sat up, and hobbled to a table that had various fruit and a jug of water on it. It had been a full day since I had eaten or drunk anything, so I quickly consumed all.

I called out, “Hey zebra, where are you?”

I hadn’t got her name before I fell asleep, so I hoped simply calling her zebra wouldn’t offend her. I remembered the sound that woke me up, and I cautiously lay my hand on the doorknob, preparing to go outside. Just as my hand makes contact, the door burst inward and sends me to the floor. I stagger to my feet, and see five white pegasus in golden armor surrounding me. Looking out the door I see another white pegasus standing over an unconscious zebra, the same one that helped me. I glare at these ponies, who glare right back. A few seconds pass, and suddenly one to my right charges me. I spin to my left, and when it goes right by me, I grab its armor and throw it into another one. The only good thing about this situation was that I was a lot taller than them, and stronger. The pony I threw and the one he landed on quickly untangled themselves. They were watching me much more warily now. One directly in front of me charges, while two to my left also charge. I sidestep the two and am about to grab the one in center, but he purposely  falls before I catch him and hits my legs. I fall down hard and grunt from the pain. I may be healed, but I’m still sore. I try to get up, but before I can, I see the other two ponies rush up, spin around, and kick. The last thing I saw were two sets of hooves flying towards my face. Then nothing.

A/N  As the story progresses, you will see more and more of his past. Quite a detailed character, but it takes a few chapters to really see that.
