Chapters Rumble sat on a chair in front of Miss Cheerilee's desk with diamond tiara sitting a few yard to the right of him. He was in a small separate work room where Cheerilee does most of her grading and other work before and after school. He looked over at Diamond Tiara for a second, only for her to return to him a glance that spoke "I will make sure you suffer every day of your life! Rumble showed no emotion towards her and turned his attention to Miss Cheerilee who began her interrogation of the colt.
"Okay Rumble." Miss Cheerilee began. "You know that I cannot allow such behavior to take place here at school."
"Yes ma'am" Rumble responded.
"And according to the information Diamond Tiara gave me, I believe that you attacked her and threw her onto the ground. Is this true Rumble."
"Well...It's partly true." Rumble responded.
"Then give me your side of the story." Miss Cheerilee said to Rumble.
"It started with Diamond Tiara picking on Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo." Rumble Began. "She kept making fun of them for being blank flanks, Sweetie Belle not being able to use magic and Scootaloo not being able to fly." Miss Cheerille gave stern glance to Diamond Tiara beginning to realize where this story was headed. "The whole Play ground was silent." Rumble continued. "Then Diamond Tiara pushed Scootaloo onto her back causing her to break her wing, so I pinned her on the ground because I was angry at her for hurting Scootaloo."
Miss Cheerilee turned her head toward Diamond Tiara with an angry and annoyed expression on her face. Rumble turned toward Diamond Tiara as well and noticed beads of sweat begin to slide down Diamond Tiaras face.
Cheerilee began to speak to Diamond Tiara ."Diamond Tiara is what Rumble just told me true?"
Diamond Tiaras eyes began to shift around as she thought of an answer. "Uh...uh..." She sighed. "Yes I did do all of that stuff."
Needing no further answer, Miss Cheerilee wrote down everything she had her on a sheet of paper and told the two their punishments.
"Rumble" Miss Cheerilee began. " You should know better than to bring any physical harm to any pony but I do understand your reasoning for doing so but you should still now not to put your hooves on anypony especially a filly, so as such you will have two days of one hour detention after school."
Rumble ears fell and sighed, not because of the detention but because of what he feared awaited him at home where he had to tell his older brother, Thunderlane, of what had happened.
"As for you Diamond Tiara." Miss Cheerilee continued. "This is not the first time I have had to talk to you about your bullying and you seriously injured another student, so because of that I have no choice but to suspend you from school for the next three days." Miss Cheerilee said to her trying to show little emotion.
Diamond Tiaras heart nearly stopped at the sound of Miss Cheerilees words, her eyes dilated to where it looked she was shocked to death.
"Am I understood?" Miss Cheerilee asked both of them.
"Yes ma'am." They both said unanimously.
Miss Cheerilee nodded her head and dismissed the two back to the classroom. They both quietly stood up and walked out the door, leaving Miss Cheerilee alone in her office. As the door opened and the two walked out into the classroom, everypony stopped their conversations and silently watched the two ponies step out the classroom.
Meanwhile.
The school's nurses office is like any other typical school clinic; the walls and ceiling are painted white with a whit tiled floor. The walls also had a few posters about health and personal hygiene. There were cabinets stocked with medicines and other medical supplies for all the patients that lied on the beds for the nurses to check on them. On one of those sat an orange pegasus filly by the name of Scootaloo being examined by one of the school nurses, Mrs. Heart Healthy.
"Hi Scootaloo. My name is Mrs. Heart Healthy." She introduced. " I am going to be looking at your wing today to see how badly injured it is." Mrs. Heart Healthy said. Mrs. Heart Healthy is a dark pin earth pony with a straight baby blue mane and tale. Her cutie mark was rose with a thermometer coming out the top of it.
"Yeah whatever, just make it stop hurting so much." Scootaloo groaned. Scootaloo isn't a big fan of nurses or doctors; she claims that doctor offices are too boring but really she's just afraid of needles.
"Oh come on Scootaloo, there's no need to be so stubborn." Mrs, Heart Healthy said.
"Sorry, I just really don't like doctors, all it is check your heart beat, listen to your lungs, test your reflexes and a bunch of boring stuff."
"Okay Scootaloo, the better you cooperate the faster you can get out of here and back to your friends. Besides being a doctor isn't so bad; you get to help people that get sick or help people that injure themselves on their scooters." Mrs. Heart Healthy gave Scootaloo a warm smile, Scootaloo blushed in response.
"Now I need you roll on your stomach so I can get a good look at your wing." Mrs. Heart Healthy said.
Scootaloo did as she said in hopes of getting her wing fixed and getting back to friends, her scooter and Rumble. Yes Rumble. Ever since Scootaloo saw Rumble stand up for her and the other crusaders, he's all that's been on her mind. The thought of him sent weird yet warm feeling throughout her body, it made her sick.
"Scootaloo, I need you to try to move your wing for me." Mrs. Heart Healthy said.
Scootaloo groaned when she tried to move her wing in any way. "Ugh! I can't my left wing hurts too much."
Mrs. Heart Healthy gently stretched out Scootaloo's wing and examined it. She gave Scootaloo an x-ray and gave her some other tests. All the while Scootaloo and Mrs. Heart Healthy talked about school, family and also about cutie marks. Scootaloo and Mrs. Heart Healthy had a conversation about special talents and cutiemarks.
"So Mrs. Heart Healthy. How did you get your cutiemark."
Mrs. Heart Healthy gave a slight chuckle as she began to wrap Scootaloos wing in a caste.
"Well." Mrs. Heart Healthy began. "I got my cutiemark during the annual running of the leaves in White Tail Woods. I was just a young filly trying to find her place, like you Scootaloo. I was the 23rd racer on that chilly fall day, I wasn't the fastest filly nor the best runner but I knew if I paced myself I would finish the race even if I don't win. Anyway, by the middle of the race most of the ponies ahead had tripped over an area of rocks and pebbles that couldn't' be seen from ahead of the path. Once a pony got to that section of the path they would trip, twists their ankles, get scratched or bruised."
"So what did you do?" Scootaloo asked.
"Well when I came across all of the injured ponies at first, I had no idea what to do. I was about to run and get help when I heard somepony. It was a young unicorn colt about my age at the time, he was lying on the ground crying with his hoof being held in his hooves. I knew it was better to go get help; yet I couldn't just leave him there injured. I ran up to him and sat beside him, I had always loved healing ponies and reading books on medicine; however I had never tried to heal an actual pony. I took his hoof gently into mine and asked him move, he groaned in pain at trying to move it. I knew the first thing I had to do was ice and wrap it but I had no medical supplies. I frantically looked at my surroundings in order to find something to wrap his hoof in, yet all of the leaves had already fallen. Then a sparkle of light caught my eye,a plant known as Aesculapius. It is a beautiful copper plant with a silver flower on top when in bloom the magic contained in it can heal any physical injury if a pony truly wanted and cared for its healing power. I pulled the plant out of the ground and wrapped it around his hoof. I took his hoof, closed y eyes and asked to it to please heal him and all of those that were injured. I begged until tears began to flow down my face. Finally after 3 minutes, a beautiful, bright, white light had appeared and after the flash of light the flower was gone and everypony began to get up again. I was still holding his hoof and he wrapped in his hooves a great big hug. Little did I know that he would become my best friend and future husband. Suddenly a light flashed on my flank and my cutie mark had finally appeared. it was the happiest day of my life and i will never ever forget it."
By the time Mrs. Hearth Healthy had finished her story, Scootaloo's eyes were wide and practically glowing. Mrs.Heart Healthy could only laugh at the filly. Then her ears dropped and she looked down at the floor.
"What's wrong Scootaloo?" Mr.Heart Healthy asked.
"It's just that it seems everypony has some amazing story on how they got their cutiemarks; yet no matter what I do I never get my cutiemark. I'm starting to think that I don't have a special talent and that I'm destined to be a blank flank forever." Scootaloo said depressed.
Mrs. Heart Healthy put her hoof on Scootaloo's head, causing Scootaloo to look up at her.
"Scootaloo." Mrs. Heart Healthy started. "Everypony has a special talent of some kind, but sometimes our talents are so common to us that we don't even realize that they are our special talents. You will find out what your good at Scootaloo; however right now you should try to enjoy the freedom of being young and not having any responsibilities. Do not try to grow up to fast, you'll regret it." Mrs. Heart Healthy said warmly with a motherly smile one her face.
"Thanks Mrs. Heart Healthy." Scootaloo said.
Scootaloo looked around to make sure nopony was watching and then gave Mrs. heart Healthy a big hug. Scootaloo filled out a form for her to take to her parents after school, said her goodbyes and ran out the door to the class room to talk with her friends.
By the time Scootaloo got back to Miss Cheerilee's class, everpony was eating lunch during their final minutes of freedom until class started up again. She opened the door as if nothing had ever happened; only to freeze as everypony in the classroom halted their conversation to look at her. She was about to to her friends only to see Rumble along with three of his friends sitting with her friends at a desk looking at her. She had no idea what to do; so she let instinct take over and charged at the grey, pegasus colt who had stood up for her.
The front yard of the school house was quiet and peaceful during the school hours, nopony was out there except for the occasional janitor but there was some dragon in the front yard, Spike. Spike was given the day off by Twilight Sparkle. He was roaming the streets of ponyville looking for something fun to do, he could have gone to visit Rarity like he usually does but it was kind of early at the time and he didn't want to disturb her. Even though Spike had agreed with Applejack that he would stick to assisting Twilight he had nothing to do; so he decided to head for Sweet Apple Acres to see if there was any work for him to do.
On his way there, Spike had headed toward the Ponyville Schoolhouse. He was just reaching the top of a hill when he noticed some commotion going on in the schoolhouse playground. He couldn't make out to much of what was going on due to his distance, but he could make out the cutiemark crusaders and two other pink and silver figures. He concluded the two figures were Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, he knew that those two picked on the cmc a lot but he never paid much mind to it. Though this time,by the stillness of the playground, he knew knew something big was going on. All he did was watch the commotion until his scales rose at the sound of a glass shattering scream from what sounded like Scootaloo, then before he could comprehend what was going on a grey blur quickly streaked right onto Diamond Tiara and stood over her. Spike's eyes were wide, he was actually pretty glad he didn't go to Sweet Apple Acres. After everypony had headed back inside he decided that he should wait for everypony to get out of school; so he could find out more of what was going on.
Spike sighed."Ugh, There's nothing to do out here." He said to himself. "I want to know more of what happened, I can't bare waiting. I also never really talk with the crusaders much; maybe they can find something fun for us to do, they're really good at that."
Spike was holding onto what little patience he had left to keep himself from bursting into the school and demanding information. Well he lost all of his patience when he heard a loud crash come from inside the schoolhouse. In a swift act of adrenalin , the baby dragon charged at the school door only to be graced by the sight of Scootaloo lying on the ground with a colt hugging him as tight as he can. All Spike could do was fall on his back laughing out all the air contained in his lungs.
When Rumble had exited Miss Cheerilee's office along with Diamond tiara, everypony in the classroom turned their attention to Rumble and Diamond Tiara with nothing but curious expressions across each pony's face. Whispers and rumors such as "I heard they both to apologize and hug each other the hold time." or "Diamond Tiara is going to kill rumble tomorrow morning." and other such lies began to spread across the classroom like a wildfire. The whispers and silence was heavy and awkward, Rumble gave the class a nervous smile and quickly trotted to his friends sitting in the far back right corner in the room. Diamond Tiara on the other trotted to Silver Spoon with an angry expression on her face.
Rumble got to his three best friends Featherweight, Pipsqueak and Shady Days. He was instantly bombarded with a barrage of questions from the three of them.
"What Happened? Did you get in trouble? What about Diamond Tiara? Is she in trouble?" The three friends ask Rumble in such a disorganized way that Discord himself would love it.
"Uh..I.." Rumble would try to say over his friends. "Quiet!" Rumble yelled at his friends. All of his friends immediately shut up and listened to Rumble.
Rumble sighed. " Diamond Tiara is expelled from school for three days and I have two days of detention.
Pipsqueak suddenly hugged Rumble in Joy. "You got Diamond Tiara suspended!" Pipsqueak exclaimed. "These are going to be the best three days ever!"
While in Pipsqueak's tight embrace Rumble noticed Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle glancing in his direction every now and again then going back to their conversation. Rumble was beginning to lose air in his lungs and tried to push Pipsqueak off of him to let him now to let go. Once released, Rumbled sucked in a huge sum of oxygen and then exhaled.
"Hey guys." He said to his friends. "I think Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle want to to talk to me, let's go talk to them."
Rumble was stopped by Pipsqueak who put his hoof on Rumble's shoulder.
"We can't talk to them." Pipsqueak Said.
"Why not?" Rumble asked back.
"Because they're fillies!" Pipsqueak answered.
"So..." Rumble responded.
"Fillies have cooties!" Pipsqueak responded with urgency in his voice. "I haven't even got my cootie shot yet!"
Rumble rolled his eyes then smiled at the small colt. "There is no such thing as cooties Pipsqueak."
"Yes there is!" Pipsqueak argued back.
"Oh yeah. Prove it." Rumble said back.
"One time a filly dropped her pencil so I picked up and put it back in her hoof then when I went t bed I woke in the middle of the night sick." Pipsqueak explained.
"Well did you go to bed with the window open?" Rumble asked.
"Yeah. What does that have to do with anything?" Pipsqueak argued back stepping closer to Rumble.
"Well that's why you got sick in the first place!" Rumble argued back stepping closer to Pipsqueak putting only a few inches between their faces.
"No it isn't!" Pipsqueak yelled back.
"Yes it is." Rumble yelled at Pipsqueak.
"You're stupid!" Pipsqueak yelled.
"No. Your stupid!" Rumble yelled back.
"No yo-" Pipsqueak was cut off by Featherweight.
"How about we go talk to them and if one of us gets sick then cooties are real." Featherweight reasoned.
"Yeah guys just stop fighting." Shady days said in agreement.
Rumble and Pipsqueak looked each other in the eyes and said "Fine." in unison.
"Let's go guys. Rumble said turning toward the two fillies.
Rumble, Pipsqueak, Featherweight and Shady Days all walked toward Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. Who were sitting at one desk eating lunch.
The way Rumble and his friends walked toward Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle would make a pony think they were greasers about to jump a couple of soc's.
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle looked up at the four colts in front of them.
"Uh heya Rumble." Apple Bloom began with a smile on her face. "How ya doin'.
"Hi Apple Bloom. Pipsqueak, Featherweight, Shady Days and I were wondering if we could sit with you and Sweetie Belle." Rumble said. Rumble glanced at Pipsqueak who was shaking as if he were stuck outside of the crystal empire in the snow.
"Sure!" Sweetie Belle said instantly."I don't usually sit with colts it should be fun." Sweetie said with a bright smile on her face.
"Cool. Thanks Sweetie." Shady Days said in response. Sitting across from her.
Rumble sat next to Apple Bloom and Pipsqueak sat next to him and Featherweight sat between Shady Days and Pipsqueak.
"It was really nice of ya ta stand up for Scoots like that Rumble." Apple Bloom said looking straight into Rumbles eyes, her smile beaming so much you'd think Pinkie Pie was about to come out of nowhere.
"It was nothing." Rumble said blushing.
"But why did you do it?" Shady Days asked Rumble.
"Yeah why?" Pipsqueak asked breaking out of his cooties fear long enough to speak.
"Uh well I..." Rumble said trying to come with a good reason or distraction.
All the while Sweetie Belle lost focus on the conversation as her eyes drifted to one particular colt sitting a couple rows down. He was a light brown colt with a dark brown mane and a lighter shade brown in the middle of his mane. His name was Button Mash. He didn't have a cutiemark yet but everypony knew what his special talent was. Playing video games. Little did Button know that he brought a dreamy feeling to Sweetie Belle.
"Uh Sweetie." Apple Bloom said to the dazed filly.
"Sweetie Belle!" Apple Bloom said in her ear.
"Huh. What." Sweetie said snapping out of her daydreaming.
"Ah asked ya who do ya think is crazier Pinkie or Discord?" Apple Bloom asked her with an annoyed tone in her voice.
How the conversation shifted from Rumble sticking up for Scootaloo was beyond her.
"I thought Rumble was about to tell us why he stood up for Scootaloo." Sweetie said.
"Gees Sweetie how long were ya daydreamin'?" Apple Bloom asked rhetorically . "He claims that he owed Scoots a favor and that standing up for her would be a quick way to get out of it, but ah think that there's a deeper meanin' behind it."
"Yeah. Rumble likes Scootaloo." Pipsqueak teased.
"Do not!" Rumble argued back
"Do to!" Pipsqueak teased back.
"Do no-" Rumble was interrupted by the opening of the front door. The classroom fell quiet as Scootaloo stood in the doorway. The next thing Rumble knew he was tackled by Scootaloo in a bone crushing hug. He saw his friends eyes wide only to be interrupted by the laughter of a familiar purple and green dragon that was lying down on his back in fits of laughter. Scootaloo stood over Rumble with a very shocked look on her face. Rumble began to wonder if Discord was in the classroom with him.
"How could thing possibly get worse." Rumble thought to himself.
At that exact moment Miss Cheerilee stepped out of her office only to see the chaos in front of her.
"I just had to ask." Rumble thought.
Miss Cheerilee was already starting to have a stressful day and the sight before her eyes did not help very much; athough the site before was very cute, she had to maintain a professional manner and take appropriate action.
"Scootaloo, let go of rumble right now or I'll have to put you in trouble as well for violating school rules." Miss Cheerillee commanded.
Scootaloo's eyes shot open at the realization of what she was doing. She saw all her class mates staring at her, some were laughing and making kissing noises while others were completely shocked at what they saw. Scootaloo jumped off of Rumble as fast as her on her scooter, her face was turning a deep shade of crimson visible to everyone. As Rumble began to get back up on his hooves, Scootaloo heard a loud snicker from someone behind her. She turned around to see it was Spike on the ground laughing. Scootaloo became defensive and ran up to spike face.
"Stop laughing, it's not funny." Scootaloo yelled.
"Yeah It is." Spike said back still with a hint of laughter in his voice. "It's funny because I never thought somepony like you would ever get all mushy over colts!"
"I'm not mushy over colts and even if I was I wouldn't hide it even though everypony in all of Equestia knows about it!" Scootaloo shot back.
"And just what is that supposed to mean!"
"It means-"
"Everypony Sit Down!" Miss Cheerilee interrupted.
Everypony in the class room sat at their desks except for Spike and Scootaloo who just stared at Miss Cheerilee with a surprised yet worried expression on their faces.
Miss Cherilee let out a light, calming shigh.
"First off when I said everypony sit down that includes you Scootaloo."
Scootaloo gave Spike a quick glare before going back to her seat.
"Now Spike, would you like to explain to me why you are here."
"I...uh...well.." Spike had to come with a reason for showing up because he knew if he didn't have a good reason, Miss Cheerilee would tell Twilight about what had happened. "Well..I wanted... to join the class today since Twilight gave me the day off and what better way to spend the day than...learn." Spike internally gave himself a pat on the back for coming with such a good excuse so quickly.
"Really, Twilight told me the only reason you aren't enrolled in the school is beacuse she's already taught you things at a much higher level than for your age group." Miss Cheerilee replied.
"Oh well then how about I helo you teach class I'm sure your tired and all."
well I do have some work to catch up on. Miss Cheerilee thought to herself. "Fine, you can help teach the class today. Since all of this commotion has cut into our history time you can help teach the language lesson for the last hour of the day."
Miss Cheerilee walked to her desk and gave Spike the lesson plan for day.
"That's it, this is easy." The class gave a collected sigh. "It's just parallel sentence structure." The class groaned at the sound of the lesson today.
Spike wasn't too nervous about teaching the class because Twilight would always have him explain his lessons to her on random occasions to make sure he actually knows his lessons.
For rest of the school Spike would teach the class in a very impressive manner and was able to explain it very clearly to anyone that asked a question. Through out the whole time though, Scootaloo kept firing spitballs at Spike when he or Miss Cheerilee wasn't watching the class. During the last twenty minutes of school the class was working on worksheets. Sweetie Belle raised her hoof for help from Spike.
Spike came over to Sweetie Belle's desk. "What's the problem Sweetie Belle?" Spike asked.
"I don't understand how to make this one correct." Sweetie Belle answered.
Spike examined the question and began to explain the way to answer the question. Sweetie Belle tried to pay attention but her thoughts kept running through her mind. Wow. spike is really smart if he thinks this is easy and it was really kind of him to help out Miss Cheerilee. The light caused Spike scales to glimmer and shine different colors of the reflected light.Now that I'm actually paying attention to him, Spike looks kind of cute. Sweetie Belle began to blush.
"So do you understand it now."
Sweetie Belle immediately snapped out of her thoughts." Uh..yeah thanks for the help Spike." Sweetie Belle answered nervously.
Spike gave her a smile and headed to front of the classroom where he chatted with Miss Cheerilee fot the last 17 minutes of class.
What am I thinking I don't like Spike like that, he's just a friend. Sweetie Belle thought. Besides I like somepony else and he's smart and cute and funny and... No stop you're too young to like colts anyway. Sweetie Belle broke away from her thoughts as Miss Cheerilee began to speak.
"Okay class there's no homework tonight thanks tonight so you can all leave as soon as the bell rings."
The bell rang and all the fillies and colts rushed out the door as fast as lightning. Spike stayed behind as Miss Cheerilee thanked him for his help teaching today. He exited out the school building and saw Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle getting in a wagon attached to Scootaloo's scooter. He was about to call to them until he overheard the raspy voice of a young colt.
"Yeah. I just got the new Asteroid Destruction 2 game wanna come play it with me?"
Spike stopped in his tracks. "Really!" Spike yelled towards the young colt. "I've seen that game advertised all over ponyville and always wanted to play it but Twilight doesn't let me play video games, she says their too unhealthy. Do you mind if I come play it with you." Spike asked with excitement in his voice.
"Hmm I never played against a dragon before...Sure!"
"Yes!" Spike exclaimed. "Thank You! What's your name anyways."
"Button Mash and these are my friends Pipsqueak and Featherweight. Usually rumble comes with us as well but he had to stay for detention." Button Mash answered.
Spike gave each of them a proper greeting and began talking with them on the way to Button's house.
"So Spike. What made you want to help Miss Cheerilee teach today?" Pipsqueak asked Spike.
"Well actually I just happened to be on a hill overlooking the playground when all the commotion happened. I couldn't see much and i just had to now what happened so i decided to wait outside the school until the end of the school day until i heard crash inside the classroom so i ran in only to see.." Spike let out a few giggles before continuing. "Scootaloo of all ponies squeezing Rumble in a huge hug! Haha! So when Miss Cheerilee asked why I was here I needed to come up with an excuse so I wouldn't get in trouble with Twilight so i said I came to join the class only to end up teaching instead."
"Speaking of Twilight. What is it like to be an assistant and practically son of not only the new princess but also the element of magic?" Featherweight asked with gleaming eyes.
" It's not all it's cracked up to be. Sure there are some perks but not many. For example..."
"Scootaloo, are ya sure ya can take us all the way to our club house with only one wing?"
"Of course I can. I mean it'll be a little bit harder than usual but I'm always up for a challenge."
"I don't know Scootaloo, what if you get hurt or crash."
" What do you now Sweetie Belle. You're no doctor."
"She don't have ta be a doctor to have common sense Scootaloo."
"Ha! like you can talk about common sense, Apple Bloom."
"None of us can talk 'bout common sense, we all did stuff that nearly got us killed or hurt other ponies, Scootaloo!"
"Will you two be QUIET! " Screamed Sweetie Belle with her voice cracking. "If you two can't get along then I don't want to crusade today. I'll just go play with Button instead."
"Aw." Apple Bloom said mockingly. "Is l'il Sweetie Belle goin' ta see her coltfreind." Apple Bloom made kissing noises.
"He's not my coltfriend Apple Bloom but at least me Scootaloo try to be around our crushes instead of avoiding them like you."
"Well maybe it's because I don't want a coltfriend."
"Ha! now who's a chicken!"
"Shut up Scootaloo!"
"That's I'm going to see Button. Bye!"
"Well I'm gonna go home to! Bye!"
"Well so am I. Bye!"
Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo all went there separate ways. Apple Bloom went to help Applejack and Big Macintosh on the farm, Sweetie Belle went to Button's house, and Scootaloo went home.
Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick... This was the only sound in the classroom. The only ponies there were Miss Cheerilee doing work on her desk and Rumble sitting at his desk quietly, idly, alone. There was no work to do or any books to read, just his thoughts. He laid his head in his hooves, closed his eyes and let his thoughts race.
Thunderlane is going to be so mad at me, how do I explain it to him. Well I could tell him the truth but he'll get mad; well that's better than telling a lie. But I don't want to lie to Thunderlane besides I only did to protect Scootaloo. If i tell him the truth though he'll now I have a crush on her and he'll just tease me about it. Why shouldn't I tell him? He told me has a crush on Rarity and Rainbow Dash. He said he liked Rarity because they had "A moment." while he was at the Wonderbolt Academy but he lies Rainbow Dash because of how layback, cool, exciting, hot and all other ind of things. So why not tell him about Scootaloo and how she's fun to be around, how brave she is, how good she looks, how awesome she is on her scooter, how good she smells, how pretty her eyes are, the sound of her voice, the feeling of her fur... FWOOSH!
Rumble snapped immediately out of his thought as his wing spread up and open their own and began to throb. He blushed redder than than the reddest apple. Miss Cheerilee glanced up at him but she just ignored his wings and continued her work. Rumble tried to push his wings back down to his sides only to fail two or three times. This coused miss Cheerilee to stifle a laugh. She glanced at the clock and let out a small breath.
"Okay Rumble, you can leave now."
Rumble had just finished getting his wings under control.
"Oh. Okay." Have a nice day Miss Cheerilee.
She giggled. "You to Rumble."
As soon as Rumble got out the door, he put on his saddlebag, spread his wings and took off into the sky.
"...and that's when Twilight tried to steel Mr. Smartypants back from Big Mac." Spike finished as the group of colts reached Button's house."
"Alright guys come in. Spike let me introduce you to my mom."
Spike looked up to see a cream colored mare with a light brown mane and tail. His jaw dropped.
"hey aren't you Twilight Sparkles assistant Spike." Button's mom asked.
"Y Yes I am.I It's nice to meet you..."
"Mom. just call me mom."
"S Sure m mom." He answered.
'Well let me tell you that we'revery happy to have the assistant of the newly crowned princess at our house." She said patting the spikes on his head.
Spike practically melted as he felt her touch.
"Come on Spike. Let me show you my room."
"Wow am I glad I decided to came with you guys." Spike said.
"Well it's about to get better."
Button opened the door to his room bringing the sight of every young colts dream. The room was full of games and gaming systems that were old and new ranging from hay boxes to joy boys. Spike felt a tear come to his eyes.
"So what do you think?" Button asked as they entered his room.
"It's amazing! I've never seen so many games in my entire life!"
"Luckily for you, Asteroid Destruction 2 is for the Hay Box which I just so happen to have a controller customly designed for claws or hands I think is what Lyra called them."
"Yes! common guys grab a controller and let's play!"
"They all picked up a controller and as Button put his new game in the hay box for them all to enjoy.
Wow. Spike thought. So this is what it's like to have friends.
Twilight was sitting at her desk studying her books as usual. She was currently study Ancient Unicorn Spell Forgotten by Ponykind. As she read she came across a section of the book. It read.
This spell allows a unicorn to summon an ancient creature that will allow the summoner an all mighty power beyond that of Celestia but can only be summoned with dark magic.
"Dark magic. I think I had better skip this one and move on, it seems kind of dangerous."
Twilight moved on but her curiosity got the best of her.
"I'm sure if I cast just once nothing too bad will happen, I mean power beyond Celestia...What's he worse that could happen.
Twilight read the spell and closed her eyes, when she opened them her eyes were green and dark purple smoke poured out of her eyes, her horn glowed dark puprple and green then she blacked out.
"Hello Twilight..."
Silence. That was the only word that could describe the atmosphere of the dark, empty void Twilight stood in. The air was eerie and uneasy the ground Twilight stood in was covered by a blanket of thick, pure black smoke making it impossible to see anything underneath. It was cold and lonely enough send shivers down the spine of Discord himself. Twilight couldn't see anything but blackness. She began to walk around hoping to find something, anything.
"Hello! Is anypony here?" Twilight called out into the nothingness hoping to to get some kind of a response.
Nothing. Nothing but the echo of her voice. Twilight lit her horn hoping to the light would reveal something to her. The dark smoke seemed to have retreated from the light revealing a continuation of nothingness underneath her hoofs.
"Where in Equestria am I?" Twilight questioned. "I've never read or heard of anyplace like this before."
As if on cue all the dark smoke that was being repelled by her horn suddenly lashed at he like whips, wrapping and tightening around her hooves, body, tale and face. Twilight struggled to get loose but the smokes grip was too much for the alicorn, covering her nose and mouth stopping any and chances of her gaining oxygen. Her struggle lessened as her eyelids grew heavier causing to black out. Once Twilight was incapacitated the smoke began to to mover over her body pulling her down deeper into the empty void.
The air swam through Rumbles fur allowing him to feel a sensation that only a pegasus could feel. The feeling relaxed rumble so much and allowed his mind to wander and think more deeply as he flew toward his house. Wow what a day. i never would have expected to not only get to put Diamond Tiara in her place but I also became the most popular pony in school. I also got to get closer to Scootaloo. Just thinking of the orange fillies name put Rumble in a smitten state nearly causing him stop flying. But I really didn't expect to put in detention of all things. It was worth it though but I really would have loved to Diamond Tiaras mouth in. As Rumble flew over ponyville he couldn't help but spot the pony of his eye pulling her scooter with through town.
"Well I guess I could swoop down and talk to her she does look a little angry." Rumble thought aloud. "Plus it will put time between me having to explain everything to Thunderlane... Sure! Why not?"
Rumble swooped down trying his hardest not make a fool of himself and crash land... again. Rumble slowed down as he got closer to the ground. He would flap and stop repeatedly until he made a somewhat bumpy landing right behind Scootaloo.
"Hey Scootaloo!" Rumble called out to greet her. Scootaloo stopped dead in her tracks and her ears shot up at the sound of Rumble's voice. No! this can't be happening of all the times for Rumble to show up out of nowhere it had to be now... Okay just act cool, stay calm and don't say anything stupid. Scootalo exhaled a calming breath and began to speak as she kept walking.
"Oh, hey Rumble. What's up?" Scootaloo said in a flat tone.
"Um nothing much. I...Was just wondering if...Um..If you need help carrying your Scooter." Rumble replied tripping over his words. as he trotted up to Scootaloo.
"No need. I can handle this myself." Scootaloo answered in a calm but still flat tone.
"Oh. Okay" Rumble responded sound disappointed. All the while Rumble was nervous trying to start up a conversation as an awkward silence grew between them.
The silence was tense and was really for Scootaloo to bear.
"Hey Rumble." Scootaloo started.
"Yes Scootaloo?" Rumble replied.
"I just wanted to say thanks again for, ya know, standing up for me back at the school. It was cool of you."
"N-No problem Scootaloo." Rumble replied, a smile growing on his face.
"Maybe we can hang out sometime, for fun ya know." Scootaloo suggested. A slight blush began to rise in her cheeks.
"Yeah. Sounds Cool!" Rumble replied failing to hide any hint of excitement in his voice.
"Well I'll see you tomorrow Rumble. Thanks again."
"Okay. See ya tomorrow Scootaloo!" Rumble replied finishing the conversation. Rumble buzzed his wings and took off into the sky to head home. Yes I'mm gonna get to hang out with Scootaloo. How great is that, just me and Scoo- . "Ugh! Hey wath ou-"
"We'll if it isn't mister detention."
"Th-Thunderlanne! H-How did you know!" Rumble asked fearfully.
"I just so happened to get off work early today. When you never came I went out to the school to see if you you were still. I ran into Miss Cheerilee on my way there and she explained how you practically attacked a filly when you better than to." Thunderlane explained to Rumble.
"But-" Rumble tried to explain .
"But then I I heard how you did to stand for another filly that was being bullied. and how you had gotten detention. By the time I got there she said you left about ten minutes ago. So I flew up here to find you but you conveniently found me." Thunderlane said with a grin on his face.
"alright what's my punishment. Just spit it out." Rumble said awaiting his impending doom. What could it possibly be. No friends for a week, no videogames, more homework or maybe something even worse.
Thunderlane put his hoof under his chin as he thought of an appropriate punishment." Well you did have the right intentions and I'm pretty sure the filly deserved it, Hay! I got more detention than you when I was your age so I would let you off the hook but mom and dad wouldn't be to happy about that. So I'll let you go only if you introduce me this filly you stood up for."
"And what if I don't" Rumble asked cautiously.
"Then I'll write to dad and let think up a punishment for you." Thunderlane answered with a sly grin." So what's your choice."
Rumble was not happy with Thunderlane at all. He had to make a choice, he could either risk total embarrassment and hope his brother would do anything embarrassing in front of Scootaloo or Let his dad, who was very strict about school, come up with a punishment for his actions. He may even come from Cloudsdale and give it to him himself. Rumble didn't like but he knew what was the safer choice.
Despairingly, Rumble gave his answer to Thunderlane."(sigh) I'll introduce you to her tommorow afternoon."
"Sweet, don't worry little bro' I won't embarrass you, too bad." Thunderlane reassured only to let a couple laughs escape his mouth.
Rumble let out a loud gulp thinking about what could possibly happen tommorrow.
"C'mon bro' let's head home, it's starting to get late anyway. Besides you've got a big day tomorrow. Hahahaha!!" Thunderlane said in a kind of, This is gonna be good, tone of voice.
Rumble and Thunderlane flew towards their home as they got ready for the impending horor and doom that was set for Rumble. He knew he had to stop it, anything to stop it.
"Ugh..." An arousing and weary Twilight had opened her eyes. "Where am I now? What's going on?" Twilight tried to move only to find all her hooves, wings and neck strapped down to a wall made of dark wall of solid nothingness by the smoke that had suffocated her."W-why am I strapped down?" asked twilight into the still empty nothingness. A deep maniacal laugh began to slowly travel through the empty darkness. "Who's there? Show yourself!" Twilight yelled at the laughter in warning. "Or else I'll..." Twilight tried to ignite her horn only to have no avail."What? Why can't i summon my magic!" The deep laughter continued, followed by a deep voice.
"Poor poor Twilight." The darkness said in a mocking tone. "Poor naive Twilight Sparkle. Oh wait, my bad Princess Twilight Sparkle now that I see you not only have wings but I can also sense the alicorn magic inside of you." The darkness continued, beginning to sound a bit annoyed near the end.
"Who are you! And why am I here!" Twilight questioned sternly.
"You don't recognize my voice?" The darkness asked pretending to sound sad, "I'm offended! Then again I didn't really talk much when we first met." It continued.
"I've never met anything like you before and that still doesn't answer my question!"Twilight shot back at the darkness.
"Are you sure?" It asked in a inquiring tone. "How about now?"
At once all the smoke, except for the smoke restricting Twilight, came together to form a tall cloud of pure black smoke forming two green eye shapes with two crimson dots in the center of each.
"Do you recognize me now?" The darkness asked.
"No. You can't be. King Sombra!" Twilight exasperated.
Back at the house of Button Mash an intense battle was going down between two powerful combatants. Button Mash! The overpowered, asteroid crushing master of the galaxy being taken on who he had least expected. Spike! The underdog. The young drake who, with a slow start, would squeak by each round just making it until the end. He is the only one that can save the galaxy from the crushing, ruling hoof of Overlord Button Mash.
"I didn't think you would make it all the way to the final round with me." Button Mash was taken aback by Spike but did his best to sound as serious as possible.
"Well you should learn not to underestimate me.' Spike answered just as seriously.
The tension between the two was strong and tense. Each player was on an adrenaline rush, their hearts pounding, studying each other, preparing for an event that could change the rest of their lives. Pipsqueak and Featherweight couldn't do anything but watch in silence as the tension arose.
Pipsqueak stood between the two warriors, ready to sound off the start of this epic battle of awesometude.
"Okay. So you both know the rules?" Pipsqueak began reciting the rules of the final round.
"Yes." Button and Spike answered in unison
Pipsqueak continued. "But to be safe there is no hacking, no cheating, no physical contact of any kind, no swearing and no quitting the game. Understood."
"Yes." Both once again repeated in unison.
"Alright then." Pipsqueak started. "On your marks." Button and Spike tightened their grips on their controllers. "Get set." Both players put their minds an hooves and... uh.. claws into ready mode ready mode to annihilate the other. Their locked on the screen in front of them, completely focused. "Go!" Pipsqueak yelled signalling the start of the battle. Spike and Button were completely focused. claws and hooves seemed be moving faster than Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie combined. The battle was fierce, asteroids exploding left and right with lasers and fists flying all over the screen. Button Mash was starting off strong, it seemed every time Spike had an opportunity to turn the tables button would stop it before he could with some kind of special attack. Nevertheless Spike kept hanging on and would not quit, not when he's made it this far. Button began strategizing, trying to find a way to end Spike.
This doesn't make any sense! every time it seems he's done for he somehow finds a way to save himself, get more health and stay in the game. What's his secret? He's got to be hacking, but he wouldn't he said he wouldn't. I've got to put an end this, my reputation is at stake.
Spike to was trying to figure out a way to put the odds in his favor and beat Button. Celestia is he good! I'd be dead now if I didn't figure out my characters special ability. I know that if I a certain combination of buttons my character is able to make swift, powerful dodges that allow me to get away from Button's supper attacks. The downside is that's an extra asteroid for him to destroy. Yet whenever I have the opportunity to stop Button's flow and put the game in my favor he finds a way to turn it around. I hot it! If I save up my energy by only dodging and not attacking, I can attack button right after his Supper attack which causes him to stand still for a few seconds but it will take a while, I'm gonna have to hang in there.
The game play continued with Pipsqueak and Featherweight watching in full amazement. The two colts bet thirty bits on the winner. Featherweight bet Spike would win and Pipsqueak bet Button would win, putting something on the line for each of the colts. Buttons reputation versus Spikes amazing onset and Pipsqueak versus featherweight for thirty bits. Everything was on the line.
Meanwhile. Sweetie Belle was heading to Button's house to spend time with the object of her affection. On her way there she contemplated about the drama that had recently unfolded between her and her fellow crusaders.Stupid Apple Bloom, stupid Scootaloo. All I wanted to do was go crusading with my friends but all those two could do was argue and bicker. Yet Scootaloo had to be so stubborn, she just had to ride her bike and risk injuring herself even further. It's just so stupid. Sweetie sighed. " Well, at least spending time with Button will help take things off my mind," Sweetie began talking to herself as she walked to Button's house. "I hope we can play minecraft again, his reaction is so funny when I leave right before we die and he ends up losing all his stuff." Meow." a cat stopped right in front of Sweetie Belle, stopping her in her tracks. "Aww. Hello there little kitty, what's your name?" She lowered her head to read the name tag on the kittens collar. " Hi there uh... Jan! What a cute name." She pet the top of the kittens head, causing it to purr as she rubbed it. Sweetie Belle continued along the path to Button's house, humming and singing small songs as she trotted.
Sweetie Belle closed in on Button's house. She trotted up to the door and gave it a firm three knocks. The sounds of hoofsteps grew louder. The door opened revealing Button's mom at the door.
"Oh! Well hello there Sweetie Belle." Button's mom greeted. "I take it you're here to see Button?"
"Sure am!" Sweetie answered eagerly.
"Well he's with his friends in his room. Come to think of it they've been awfully quiet for a while..."
"Oh. Okay, thanks." Sweetie was a little disappointed to hear that Button's friends were over.Darn! I was really hoping to have Button all to my self, but it should still be fun either way.
Sweetie trotted up the stairs entering the main upstairs hallway, it was quiet, especially for Button. The Door to Button's room was at the end of the hall, slightly cracked open. She drew closer and closer with each second passing by. Little did she know that the scene taking place behind that door could determine somepony's life. She trotted up to the door and raised up her slowly pushing up the door. The door didn't make a single sound. She could see Pipsqueak and Featherweight standing behind Button. Featherweight was behind Spike thus blocking him from Sweetie's view.
I should surprise him, he'd love it! Sweetie thought.
She silently drew between Pipsqueak and Featherweight, but staying behind enough for neither of them to notice her. She was low to the ground like a cheetah stalking a gazelle for dinner. Each colt was entranced by the screen before them. Button's hooves were pressing button after button on his controller with perfect hand-eye coordination. Sweetie lifted her flank in the air, ready to pounce. As if all time had slowed, Sweetie pounced towards Button. Pipsqueak and Featherweight screamed as Sweetie flew passed them. Spike and button were to focused to pay attention to the two colts. Sweetie's front forelegs began to wrap around Button's neck, pushing him forward causing his hooves to slip, forcing Button to make a mistake.
This my chance! Spike stood up and pressed just the right combination of buttons allowing him to use his character right behind Button's character. Spike sprang up to his back claws. "Got you!"
"No!" Button yelled at the top of his lungs. Trying everything he could to counter Spike's attack but it was just too late.
"Spike?" Sweetie questioned.
Spike had defeated Button Mash. For the first time in Button's career he had been defeated and by an amateur at that. Buttons eyes were wide and his jaw dropped. Spike cheered and danced at his victory.
"Sweetie Belle!" Button was infuriated by Sweetie.
Sweetie drew back instantly from Button, looking confused as to why he was so angry. "What's wrong Button, why are you so angry and why is Spike here."
Button was growing irritated by Sweetie very quickly. "I'm angry because, thanks to you, I just lost Spike,who has never played video games before, in final one on one match!"
"thus making me the top game player in all of Ponyville because I defeated the invincible Button Mash!" Spike gloated with joy heard clearly in his voice.
"I'm sorry Button. I had no idea." Sweetie apologized
"Well next time don't surprise me like that in the middle of a game." Button said sternly
"Hey, her surprising you isn't too bad. Well, at leat not for me." Spike snickered. Basking in his victory.
"I demand a rematch! Just you and me, Spike!" Button demanded. Desperate to take back his title.
"I would but I have to get back to the library I'm sure Twilight needs me." Spike said apologetically.
"Wait!" Pipsqueak protested. "Does this mean nopony one?"
"Actually I think I won this round. I'd love to play again but I'm sure if I don't get home soon Twilight will be very upset, it's starting to get late." Said Spike, sounding disappointed.
"Okay, fine. I'll see you tomorrow Spike." Button said
"Well actually..." Spike began disappointingly. "I have to assist Twilight tomorrow. Sorry guys."
"Aw, okay. Well I guess we'll see you in town." said Button sympathetically.
Spike left Buttons room and Pipsqueak and Featherweight said their goodbyes and left soon after leaving just Button and Sweetie together.
"So." Sweetie began. "Now that your friends are gone do you want to play Minecraft?"
Button sighed. "Not today Sweetie Belle. I'm not in a good mood right now."
"Why? What's wrong Button?"
"My perfect video game reputation, destroyed by an amateur."
"Is it really that bad Button?"
"YES! Yes it is Sweetie Belle!"
"Calm Down Button, It's just a video game."
Button stood silent, and still for a moment.
"Just a video game. Just a bucking video game! Maybe to you it's just a game but to me, it's everything like magic to Twilight or fashion to Rarity! It's basically my life."
"Well I'm not a stupid boy who spends all his time only playing games instead of doing anything else!" Sweetie began to raise her voice back at Button.
"At least I have an idea of what my special talent is instead of wasting life away doing pointless shenanigans that get me absolutely nowhere in life!" Button yelled at the top of his lungs.
Tears began to swell up in Sweetie's eyes. She ran out the door and went home without a word, leaving button alone in hos room.
"Twilight! I'm home!" Spike yelled into the library to aware Twilight of his arrival.
There was no response. Spike turned to see Twilight on the floor with a slight hint of dark smoke exiting Twilight's eyes. Spike began to panic. He poured water on her, shook her and even slapped her getting the same result each time. Spike got on his knees, begging her to get up. The Spike got an idea. He pulled out a quill and scroll, he began to write.
Dear Princess Celestia...
Celestia's sun shined brightly on the small village of Ponyville this Tuesday morning. Ponies were going to work, fulfilling the destiny their cutiemarks have brought upon them. Little colts and fillies ran to school to get an education and play with their friends, In particular there were three little fillies sitting at their classroom desks at the Ponyville schoolhouse, listening to their teacher Miss Cheerilee teach her class on the expansion of Equestrian settler ponies.
"Now as you can see class, the settler ponies traveled blah blah blah..."Scootaloo tuned out Miss Cheerilee's lesson and went deep into her thoughts, blocking out all parts of reality."That trick Rainbow Dash did last evening was so awesome that was even better than awesome it was "..."Awesemazing! " Scootaloo shouted out, practically jumping out of her seat.
The whole class bursts into laughter looking at Scotaloo, she blushed and slowly slid back down into her seat. Miss Cheerilee looked at her with stern eyes "Scootaloo! Since my lesson is so awesmazing why don't you come up and explain to the class the different routes the settlers took to explore Equestria.
Scootaloo's eyes widen at the realization of what she was asked to do."Uh...I." She sighed."Yes ma'am."
A couple of rows down, one of Scootaloo's closest friends and fellow crusader, Apple Bloom, thought to her self as she watched Scootaloo's complete fail at explaining to the class. "C'mon Scoots ya know not ta be shoutin out in the middle of class like that. " She sat there thinking about all the fun things she and her friends would do after the school day was done. She didn't pay any mind to the two fillies sitting next to her, Diamond Tiara had fallen asleep and Silver Spoon was surprisingly pay close attention to the lesson. She leaned forward took a look at the little white unicorn with a lavender and pink mane, Sweetie Belle,who had looked right back at her with a warm smile on her face.
A row down from Applebloom, Sweetiebelle sat at her seat and watched Miss Cheerilee send Scootaloo back to her desk and warned her to pay attention to class next time, or else. As miss Cheerilee continued on with her lesson, Sweetie Belle noticed the movement of somepony out the corner of her eye. She turned her head to the opposite corner of the room to notice a grey, pegasus, colt with a slick black mane and purple eyes, Rumble, looking intensely in Scootaloo's direction. Scootaloo didn't seem to notice but Sweetiebelle sure did then Rumble's eyes began to move back and fourth, up and down. She watched his eyes and noticed his hooves slowly rise up only to slam his hooves together with quick force on a hovering black dot. Sweetiebelle almost gaged when she saw the smashed remains of what looked t be a fly. She turned around and looked at the clock on the wall next to the door. There were four more hours until recess. She looked forward and waited for one of the most looked forward times of the day,recess.
The Golden Oaks library was usually a very quiet place in the morning ,the only ones in the library were the recently crowned Princess Twilight Sparkle, number one assistant and dragon, Spike, and pet Owlicious who was usually asleep when Twilight and Spike were up in the morning ,so it was just Twilight and Spike awake in the library as usual.
Twilight had just yelled to Spike to get out of bed ,then went to eat a bowl of oat meal and go over her list of things to do for the day. Spike slowly and groggily descended down the stairs, tripping on the last step and landing flat on his face. Spike groaned and pushed himself back onto his feet and walked towards twilight who was sitting at a table in the kitchen.
"Good morning Spike." Twilight said in a motherly tone with a warm smile on her face. "Did you sleep well last night?" Twilight asked."
Spike crawled into the chair across from Twilight and simply groaned in response to Twilight's question. Twilight giggled and levitated a bowl of oatmeal towards Spike.
"Thanks Twilight." Spike said To Twilight."I had the strangest dream last night though."
"Oh really?" Twilight asked."What was your dream about."
Spike sat up straight and ate a spoonful of his oatmeal as he proceeded to tell Twilight about the dream he had last night.
"Okay ,so my dream started in a blank white space and there was only one object in the room, me but as an egg. Then out of nowhere three blue diamonds came flying toward me as fast as Rainbow Dash, but suddenly a bunch of pink and lavender music notes circle around me like a shield to protect me from the diamonds, and that's when I woke up."
Twilight had thoughtful expression on her face trying to figure out if there was a meaning to Spike's dream. She sat there silent for a second until a sly smile appeared on her face.
"W-why are you smiling Twilight?" Spike asked.
"I have a good idea of what your dream means but I'll leave it up to you to figure that out."
"Come on Twilight!" Spike whined."Please tell me."
"It's your dream Spike it's up to you to figure out the meaning of it."
Spike groaned and finished up the last of his oatmeal."Fine I'll figure it out on my own ,i'll get started on my chores now Twilight."
"Actually Spike." Twilight began."You can have the rest of the day off, I've got a lot of studying to do plus I want to learn more about my new wings. I haven't quite gotten used to them yet."
"Really? Thanks Twilight!" Spike exclaimed.
Twilight laughed and gave Spike a gental hug before he rushed out the door and began on the life changing event he would soon begin.
It was finally that one time of day that every colt and filly looks forward to,recess. Yes that wonderful time of day when everypony gets to run around and play games such as hide and seek, trading cards, tag and all sorts of different games; and at the Ponyville school house three friends sat together in the sandbox discussing their plans on getting their cutiemarks.
" So ah was think'n we could be cutie mark crusader miners. We could find all kinds of gold,diamonds and other things to become rich." Apple Bloom suggested.
"The being rich part sound cool and all but it's so much boring work. Who wants spend their life digging in a boring cave all day." Scootaloo said
"Yeah and it means digging in a deep, dark, scary cave." Sweetie Belle added.
"Well maybe we could be cutiemark crusader-" Scootaloo began but was cut off.
"Losers! hahaha!"
"What do ya want now Diamond Tiara." Apple Bloom said flatly.
"We just wanted to see what you'll be failing at next, cutiemark dorks." Silver Spoon said in a mocking tone.
"Oh I know." Diamond Tiara began maybe you'll get cutiemarks in magic, oh wait you can't do magic." Diamond Tiara said looking at Sweetie."Or maybe you can be wonderbolts but that's right chickens don't fly!" Diamond tiara mocked pointing a hoof at Scootaloo. This caused Scootalo to become furious ready to pounce on the bully.
"Why can't ya'll just leave us alone and go do whatever it is you gals do." Apple Bloom said to Diamond Tiara.
"Because it's up to those of us who have cutiemark to keep control of lesser, baby blank flanks like you." Diamond tiara said to Apple Bloom. So it's up to me to tell you that you will never ever be anything close to Rainbow Dash ,but why would you want to be. If she was really the best flyer in Equestria she would have been in the wonderbolts a long time ago. Plus it's quite obvious you'll never be able to fly because your crippled." Diamond Tiara said pointing a hoof to the orange pegasus.
Diamond Tiara had truly crossed the line this time, Scootaloo was about ready to smash the pink fillies face in ,and she would not hold back.
Not many of the foals at school stood up to Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Many were either with or against them ,and on the opposite side of the playground a small grey pegasus colt named Rumble was playing hide and seek with his three best friends, Pipsqueak, Featherweight and Shady Days. Rumble had known the three colts for years and truly enjoyed having them around. Rumble was hiding under a jungle gym in a small boxed area with holes ,he sat still and quiet looking out the holes to watch for Pipsqueak,who was it at the time. Then Rumble noticed Diamond tiara and Silver Spoon mocking the cutiemark crusaders on the other end of the play ground. It was normal to watch the two bullies pick on the cmc ,most ponies just ignored it for fear of being put on Diamond Tiara's bad side. As he sat there watching the scene unfold ,he kept his eyes locked onto Scootaloo. Just looking at her gave him a funny feeling all over his body, in some cases causing his wings to suddenly flare open ,usually causing quiet, stifled giggles from other ponies around him.
"why?" he asked to himself. "Why does she always make feel funny ,but not a tummy ache funny but a good funny." He sighed and began to blush at the thought of it. Only to be taken out of his thought by hearing the voice of the filly he cared about so much to spread loudly through the entire playground.
"Hey!" Hey Scootaloo began, yelling at Diamond Tiara. "Just because I can't fly and Sweetie Belle can't use magic doesn't mean we wont ever be able to! So Leave us alone or else!" Scootaloo Screamed at Diamond Tiara "And I am not crippled! I...just can't...fly yet." Scootaloo said quietly, tears swelling up in her eyes.
Every pony on the playground stopped to watch the scene unfold. Rumble watched wide eyed through his hiding spot.
"Then just what are you going to do to make me stop." Diamond Tiara said. But what she did next crossed the line. Diamond Tiara pushed Scotaloo with all her strength causing her to fall on her back, causing it to be crushed between her and the wooden outline of the sand box. The whole playground gasped collectively, Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom rushed to Scotaloo's side to help her out.
Then Scootaloo let out a loud, ear splitting scream. "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! MY WING, I THINK IT'S BROKEN!
Rumble gasped "She hurt Scootaloo!" He said to himself. Suddenly a weird feeling spread all across his body causing his wings to spring open ,and the next thing he knows he's flying at top speed right toward Diamond Tiara. At full speed he tackled Diamond Tiara causing them both to barrel roll on to the ground ,pinning Diamond Tiara on her back. Diamond Tiara tried to slip out but Rumble was to strong. Then without yelling he sternly said to her ,right in Diamond Tiara's face. "I don't care if you are a girl but if you ever hurt Scootaloo again ,I'll make sure you physically will never be able to hurt anypony else ever again, understood." Diamond Tiaras eyes were wide open. "Answer Me!" He said more stern than before this time.
"Yes! I'll stop I'll stop, just get off of me!" Diamond Tiara screamed.
Rumble let go of Diamond Tiara and she cowardly galloped towards the schoolhouse to get Miss Cheerilee. He turned around to find that every filly and colt on the playground was wide eyed with Scootaloo's eyes being the most wide. Rumble walked towards Scootaloo to lend her a hoof up. Shocked, Scootaloo slowly lifted her hoof to Rumble allowing him to pull her up onto her hooves. Scootaloo stood silent ,staring right into Rumble's eyes with only a shocked expression on her face. Feeling awkward Rumble smiled at her and walked right towards his friends, all standing next to each other. They just stood quietly, staring at him. Rumble began to feel like he had just done something wrong. Then Featherweight began stomping his hooves ,then Pipsqueak began stomping and Sweetie Belle followed and suddenly every single colt and filly was stomping there hooves and cheering Rumbles name as he was called into the Schoolhouse by Miss Cheerilee. Although he knew he was in trouble Walked in the schoolhouse with pride and a smile on his face.
The school nurse came rushing to Scootaloo's aid and carried her into the nurses, all the while watching Rumble walk toward Miss Cheerilee ,with Diamond Tiara standing right next to her sticking her tongue out at Rumble. All Scootaloo could do was smile and whisper thank you as she was carried away.
Meanwhile about a hundred yards away a purple and green dragon stood on a hill ,processing everything he had just saw happen on the playground. He was astonished at everything that had just happened. All the ponies on the play ground went back to there classrooms. Spike had decided to stay in front of the classroom for the next two hours to talk to the Apple Bloom ,Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo about what had happened.
Twilight was in complete shock to see King Sombra. it just didn't make any sense. He was destroyed by the crystal heart but he's still alive somehow and in some dark void. King Sombra began to transform to his original unicorn form, the only difference was that his horn was broken off his head leaving a stub with faint red glow on the tip of it.
"Yes Twilight, it is me and to be honest I never thought I'd be happy to see you again." King Sombra let out a slight chuckle.
"How are you still alive? You were destroyed by the crystal heart." Twilight questioned.
"Correction Twilight, My physical form was destroyed by the crystal heart my spirit and magical essence still lives. You see Twilight, I'm not stupid. When i took control of the Crystal Empire I studied the crystal heart and performed numerous tests. I knew my rule as king would not last forever, even Celestia's rule over Equestria will fall some day. The data from my tests showed me that the crystal heart will destroy any form of negative magic and emotion but of course would not destroy any kind of positive magic or emotion. So I created three special spells in case the crystal heart were to destroy me. The first is a dark magic preservation spell. This spell would contain and lock my soul and magic in a special void inside the birthplace of dark magic, thus protecting me from any kind of positive magic that should try to attack me. That is where we're at now, Princess Twilight." Twilight had a look of anger on her face although she was impressed at Sombra's magical ability. " The second spell is a special one in which must be cast by a unicorn, or in this case alicorn, who ever casts this speel frees me from my void allows me to feed off of the unicorns magic like a tick sucking blood from a cow. Your magic will serve nicely for repairing my horn and giving me the strength to leave and feed off of other ponies magic. When I have gathered enough power, I will cast my third spell which will restore my physical body and allowing me to finally be free. In fact I think I'll speed up this process."
"Wait!" Twilight exclaimed "If you need more magic to be in physical form, how come I can see you just fine right now?"
"What you see is an illusion, but you're about to see nothing at all." Sombra had a wicked smile plastered on his face as he extended his hoof toward Twilight. It melted away into black smoke wrapping around Twilights horn, sucking all the magic out of Twilight as her cutiemark slowly began to fade. Twilight tried to resist but couldn't help but scream at the pain as fatigue and emptiness began to fill her. "Finally! Now the reign of King Sombra can begin agai-" Sombra was cut off by a flash of gold and blue light. "No. No, It can't be!" From the light to silhouettes were seen, each belonging to a very familiar alicorn. Sombra let go of his grip on Twilights horn, facing the two ponies he least expected to be here, Princess Luna and Princess Celestia. The two sisters faced Sombra from about ten feet away, their horns aglow causing the blackness around them recede, revealing a snow white floor beneath them. Twilight was able to a glimpse at her two idols as she slipped away into unconsciousness. Sombra stared off with the two sisters as he tried to put up a bold front, but the reality was he was terrified. Clestia was first to brake the silence.
"Sombra. I never would have expected to see you again."
"Yes Celestia, aren't reunions just lovely. What do say we catch up and talk about present and past events, like how you trapped in ice for a thousand years!" Anger could heard in Sombra's voice at the end.
"We had no other choice Sombra, you were torturing innocent ponies and forcing them to be your slaves." Luna reminded.
"Oh. Don't act like you two didn't play your roles. You both failed to restore your old pal, for some more than pals. Isn't that right Lulu."
" Do not call me that!" Luna exclaimed in her royal canterlot voice.
"Why not, Lulu? Afraid to remember the only pony who actually appreciated you and your night sky when no other pony could."
"Sombra Stop!" Clestia demanded
Luna released a blast of energy towards, who deflected it with a wall of black smoke.
"Just remember Luna, you can still save him just remember how he was the only one who didn't bask in Celestia's precious light."
The darkness began to circle around Luna as her body shivered and her irises shifted from full to slit. Luna fell to the floor with her hooves wrapped around her head.
" ENOUGH! Clestia exclaimed as her horns golden light brighten ten fold causing all the darkness in the room to recede to King Sombra.
"YOU HAVE TORTURED ME, MY SUBJECTS AND MY SISTER ONE TOO MANY TIMES! NOW I WILL END YOU ONCE AND FOR ALL! A large wave of gold energy surged towards Sombra causing him fade into nothingness just before he was hit by Celestias wrath.
After the light faded and Sombra could not be found, Celestia could swear under her breath. She trotted to her downed sister.
"Luna. Are you okay?"
"I am fine Tia but I believe Twilight needs more attention than I do." Luna replied as she slowly got back on her hooves.
Twilight was laid out on the white floor, unconscious.
Celestia gave her sister a nod as she approached Twilight. She placed a hoof on her forehead. She was cold, alive but cold and her cutiemark could hardly be seen.
"I'll have to revive her magic from the outside. If we stay in her mind while she's being restored. That won't be too good for us."
With that said, the two alicorns left the white void in a flash of light, leaving only an unconscious Twilight all by her self.
Meanwhile, Spike was sitting on the floor watching Twilight intently with teary eyes.No.This is all my fault. I was here I could have helped her, saved her, now...now Celestia knows what is happening to her! Why wasn't I here like I should have been. Spike was too drowned in his sorrows to notice the smoke leave Twilight's eyelids and slither out the window. "I can't believe this!" Spike yelled at no one in particular. "My best friend, my mentor, my sister for hays sake is in trouble and all I can do is sit here feeling sorry for myself!" Spike looked at Twilight, a small hint of determination glimmered in his eyes. " Twilight, I'll make sure this never happens to you again. I'll never leave your side and nothing or nopony will stop me from protecting you and everypony else I care about." As if on cue, Celestia and Luna reappeared in two flashes of light. Celestia looked as if she was contemplating with a blank look on her face while Luna appeared to be looking exhausted.
"Princess Celestia, Luna. What happened? Did you figure out what's wrong with Twilight?" Spike asked, his voice shaking from worry and fear.
Celestia didn't answer, in fact she didn't even acknowledge Spike's presence. She went up to Twilight touched her horn to the tip of Twilight's and ignited hers. Spike continued to question her but she ignored him. Once finished, Celestia backed away from Twilight as she began to stir and wake. She groaned "Ugh...what happened? Spike is that you?" Her vision began to focus on the baby dragon. He jumped on her. wrapping his arms around her neck, sobbing all the while. Twilight returned spikes embrace and looked up at Celestia and Luna with a confused expression. The two sister looked worried, Celestia approached the scene before her.
" I know you must be very confused ,Twilight. And I am sure you wish to know what was going on." She glanced at Spike. "But I think you and Spike should rest for now. We will have much to discuss, I would like for you to meet me at Canterlot Castle tomorrow; as well as all of your friends. I will be calling upon Princess Cadence and Shining armor as well." Twilight was going to object but she was rather tired and it was late.
"Okay, Princess. I will see you tomorrow."
With a smile and a nod, Celestia turned to Luna. They said there goodbyes and teleported back to Canterlot. Twilight looked down at Spike who had cried himself to sleep in her hooves. She gave a warm smile to the young drake. She levitated him upstairs along with her and tucked him in his basket. Twilight flopped onto her bed and quickly let the darkness reclaim her but this time it was a peaceful darkness, one of well deserved sleep.
Sweetie Belle was in her bedroom with the door locked. She had been crying for nearly an hour before she stopped letting her thoughts revolve around the events that had taken place earlier. She also felt somewhat bad for running past Rarity earlier without saying anything to her. Yet that was in the back of her mind. She couldn't stop thinking about her argument with Button, It was short but the words stung like a wasp. Is that really how he thinks of me? Just a filly who wastes her life away going on pointless adventures. She sighed.This bites! Apple Bloom and Scootaloo are mad at each other, Button's mad at me. I don't have any friends anymore. All I wanted to do was surprise him, i didn't know he was in some big match with Spike. Spike.... Why was Spike there anyways, I've never seen him hang out with anypony other than my sister and her friends. Maybe he wants to have the life of a normal colt. There were a couple knocks at Sweeties door. "Sweetie Belle is everything okay?' Rarity asked cautiously thought the door. "You've been in there for nearly two hours." Sweetie sighed, She got off her bed and trotted to the door unlocking and opening it to reveal a very worried Rarity.
" I'm fine Rarity, just dealing with Diamond Tiara again." Sweetie lied.
"Oh, is that bully messing with you again? Well I hope you know that what nasty things she said are not true."
Sweetie nodded. "I know."
Although next time please alert me when you come running home like that. You scared me half to death."
"Okay, sorry Rarity."
The two sisters hugged for a moment. "Now I'll let you have your space, but you should really get to bed, it is quite late." Sweetie nodded and said good night to her sister before closing the door and drifting off to sleep.
Sombra was no fool, he knew he had to go into hiding for awhile before he gained enough strength to confront the princesses. He figured he'd steer clear of Ponyville, Canterlot and the Crystal empire but that gave him the rest of Equestria to feed off of. Curse this wretched place. Everypony is so positive, which slows down my strengthening process. It would go by so much faster if somepony had some negative emotions to feed off of. Sombra stopped in his tracks and noticed the faint trail of..Anger, regret and...sorrow. Yes these will work perfectly but i need to find the source of these emotions before they're gone. The black shadow of smoke was disguised by the darkness brought by Luna's night as he followed the faint trail of negativity to Sweet Apple Acres, where an upset Apple Bloom paced around her room grumbling to herself.
"Stupid Scootaloo, stupid Sweetie Belle. They're both just stupid!" Apple Bloom was pacing the floor in her room letting mixed emotions swirl through her conscious. "I was only tryin' ta look out for her... Maybe if ah wasn't so pushy none of this woulda happened." While Applebloom was mumbling to herself, the trail of smoke that is Sombra slid between two of the wooden boards making up her bedroom.
Darn! Sombra thought. A filly and an earthpony filly at that! I was hoping for a unicorn or perhaps a pegasus but a damn earthpony! Ugh. It will have to do for now, some magic is better than none. Sombra then traveled up Apple Blooms's neck and tucked himself in her mane and began to whisper into her ears.
"They deserve it though..." Sombra began whispering lies. "If they were truly your friends they would have listened to you.."
"Who said that?" Apple Bloom asked into her room, unaware of Sombras presence in her mane.
"Relax Apple Bloom, I am simply your conscious, your very thoughts."
"So you're...me?"
"In a sense, yes. I have come to comfort you and help you with what you're going through.."
"Oh well uh...ok conscious, what do ya have ta say?"
"I'm simply saying that what happened between you and you're friends isn't you fault, it's there's. We both know that you are the smartest of your friends and the leader of the Cutiemark Crusaders. They chose to turn on you because they were afraid, they knew that they could never achieve what they wanted as long as you were leading over them, so they rebelled."
"Wait my friends a-are scared of me?" Sombra could feel more sorrow than anger feed him.
"Of course they are. You are the one who ultimately decides what they do, your basically in charge of their destinies. So if they do not get their cutiemarks, It's all your fault. How can they put their destinies in the hooves somepony who hasn't even found her own." Sombra was deceiving and cold, spitting words like venom into innocent Apple Bloom.
Tears began to fill poor Apple Blooms's eyes and slide down her cheeks forming a small puddle on the floor. " B-but th-they're mah only friends. So that means....ahm alone."
Like a snake sticking its poisoned fangs into it's prey, Sombra sucked all the sadness and anger in her heart and left her unconscious on the floor. "Huh. Pathetic. Now to cover the evidence." Sombras smoky embodiment lifted Apple Bloom off the floor and tucked her in bed, then proceeded out the window. Sombra tried to enter his physical form but instantly broke into pieces and back to his previous form.I'm no where near strong enough to reform myself. I'll have to go somewhere where targets are easier to find.... Manehattan. That should work perfectly. With that, Sombra slithered down the winding path from Ponyville, heading to Manehattan.
The first drops of sunlight penetrated the window in Twilight's bedroom. Twilight began to stir in her bed from the unwelcome sunlight. Hers eyes fluttered revealing her bedroom ceiling, her mouth was dry, she was hungry, and her head felt like it was hit by a truck. She groaned as she pulled herself out of bed, her morning was already bad enough without Spikes snoring. She tried to find the memories of last night but they were a giant blur, with the exception of one moment. She promised Celestia that she and her friends would meet her in Canterlot this morning. "AAAGH!!" Twilight screamed when she realized how late she overslept, her clock said ten seventeen. "OH NO! I'M GOING TO BE LATE FOR MY MEETING WITH CELESTIA!!" Spike jumped out of bed from Twilight's scream, followed by a hotting Owlicious.
" Twilight! What's wrong!" Spike asked in a very alerted state.
"Spike! I need you to go get Rarity and Pinkie Pie and bring them to the train station, I'll go get Rainbow, Fluttershy and Applejack." Twilight barked orders to Spike hastily.
"Huh? Why?"
Twilight simply teleported away in a flash of lavender light, leaving Spike standing speechless. What was that all about? Oh well, better get Pinkie and Rarity. Spike rushed down stairs and exited the library, running to Carousel Boutique as fast as his feet could take him.
While Spike and Twilight were retrieving there friends to take to Canterlot, A grey pegasus colt was in his bathroom thinking to himself as he brushed his teeth and washed up for the day ahead of him. I have to find a way out of this, I know Thunderlane plans on humiliating me in front of Scootaloo. How do I get out of this? Rumble gargled and spit leaving his mouth fresh and clean.Maybe it won't be too bad. Maybe Scootaloo will like me more from it. Rumble looked in the mirror and began brushing his mane back. Who am I kidding, Thunderlane always messes stuff up. Rumble continued contemplating as he looked at himself in the mirror. "Maybe I can make him want to do some thing else or maybe..."
Knock. Knock.Knock.
"Hey bro, you in there?" Thunderlane's voice went through the door, snapping Rumble out of his trance. "Can you hurry up in there. You've been in there for over an hour.
Have I really been in here that long? "Yeah.I was just about to come out anyways."
Rumble opened the door to reveal his older brother smiling at him.
"What took ya so long Rumble? Tryin' to look good for your fillyfriend?" Thunderlane let a few chuckles escape.
Well he definitely didn't forget. Rumble just rolled his eyes at his brother and proceeded past him, allowing Thunderlane to enter the bathroom and close the door behind him.
Maybe I should just let things play out. I'm sure something will come to me Rumble went downstairs to the kitchen to make himself breakfast. Rumble pored himself a bowl of oats and milk and sat at the kitchen table in silence, waiting for Thunderlane to return so that they could leave. He sighed. I just want to get this over with.
About three minutes later, Thunderlane came down to the kitchen and sat across from Rumble at the table.
"So what's goin' on Ru-"
"Are you ready to go?" Rumble had cut off Thunderlane. He wanted to introduce Scootaloo to him and leave.
"Oh. Uh...Ok. Pretty anxious aren't ya?"
"Come on let's go."
Thunderlane reluctantly followed Rumble out of there house and into the town.Something isn't right. Why would he suddenly want to go? He was just all paranoid about it yesterday. What's he up to?
At the last second, Thunderlane shot up into the sky, just barely avoiding a pink blur followed by a much slower Spike and Rarity.
"What the hay?!"
"Stop goofing off Thunderlane! Let's go."
"Fine. Just cool down will ya bro."
Rumble replied with silence as he lead Thunderlane to Scootaloo's house. About five minutes had passed before Rumble and Thunderlane approached the door to Scootaloo's house.Wait! What if Scootaloo's mom or dad answers the door?! Why didn't I think of that! Stupid Brain!
"So are you gonna knock or are you too nervous?"
Rumble took a deep breath and placed three good knocks on the door. Seconds felt like minutes at the anticipation of the door opening. Hoofsteps grew louder and louder from inside. Rumble's heart beat quickened. The door slowly opened to reveal a mare. She was a white pegasus with with a lavender mane, tail and eyes.
"Hello. Can I help you boys?"
Rumble's voice was shaking from nervousness. "Um. I was wondering if Scootaloo was home."
"Oh. Are you that colt that stood up for Scoot against that Diamond Tiara character?"
"Y-Yes ma'am."
"Oh, Please do come in."
Scootaloo's mom turned to reveal a lavender heart with a lighting bolt in the center as her cutiemark.
"Please take a seat." The living room was spacious with light grey walls. In the center was one beige couch facing towards the wall and two brown leather chairs angled towards the couch . There was a fireplace in front of the couch and the floor was a white carpet.
" Allow me introduce my self. My name is Lightning Love, it's nice to meet you...Rumble is it?"
Rumble nodded. "This is my older brother, Thunderlane."
Thunderlane finally spoke up putting on a polite smile. "It's nice to meet you Mrs.Lightning ."
She smiled. " Please just call me Lightning. I'll go get Scoots, my husband is in the basement. If he comes up, just say you're Scoots friends."
Lightning left leaving Rumble and Thunderlane alone in the living room. "Well she seems nice." Thunderlane was trying to make conversation to avoid any awkward silence.
"Yeah." Was all Rumble said, examining the rest of the house around him.
Silence took the room for about a minute but to Thunderlane and Rumble, that minute felt like hours. The only sound was the clock on the wall and the muffled voices of Scootaloo and Lightning upstairs.
After about a minute and thirteen seconds, Lightning came back down stairs with Scootaloo following close behind. Since Rumble and Thunderlane were sitting on the couch and the Leather chairs were for Scootaloo's parents, Scootaloo sat on the left of Rumble. She wouldn't so much as glance at him. She just stared at her hooves.
"I'll go get my husband and then we can talk."
Lightning went to the basement, leaving Rumble, Scoots and Thunderlane alone in the living room. The awkward silence returned with long, quiet, straining seconds.
I can't take this anymore! "Hey Scootaloo, where is the bathroom?'" Thunderlane broke the silence first.
Without looking up, Scootaloo replied in a deadpan tone. "Down the hall and to the right of the washing machine."
With that Thunderlane got up and followed Scootaloo's directions to the bathroom, leaving the two foals alone in the living room.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Scootaloo asked Rumble.
"Huh?"
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming to my place today, idiot?"
"Oh. Um, I didn't plan to but I bumped into Thunderlane after you left yesterday and he found out I had detention and about Diamond Tiara and he said if I didn't introduce you to him then he'd tell my dad and that would have been much worse."
"Well you could have warned me Rumble. Did you have to come so early?"
"I just wanted to get it over with so I just came here. I had forgotten how early it was." Rumble received an annoyed groan from Scootaloo.
Hoofsteps could be heard coming up from the basement. From the depths of the basement appeared a dark orange pegagus stallion with a crimson mane and tail that were brushed to his left side as well as crimson eyes. His cutiemark was a pair of mechanical wings, both extending from a gold star. He wasn't very big, he about average size for a stallion. Lightning followed shortly after him.
"Don't do anything stupid or I swear to Luna I will kill you." Scootaloo warned Rumble in a low and menacing tone.
Rumble gulped. The stallion took his seat in the leather chair to the left of the couch and Lighting took the opposite one.
"So you're the colt that stood up for my daughter?" The stallions voice was kind of deep but definitely not baritone. Either way it still sent chills down rumbles spine.
Rumble began sweating as he spoke. "Yes sir. My name is Rumble."
"Um, Rumble. Where is Thunderlane?" Lighting asked.
"He's in the bathroom." Replied Scootaloo, still with no emotion in her voice although Rumble could swear he felt anger radiating from her.
"Well Rumble it is an honor to meet you. Any colt who would stand up for my daughter the way you did is okay in my book. My name is Wind Lifter but you can call me Wind."
"It's good to meet you Wind sir." Rumble received a chuckle from Wind causing Rumble to mentally give himself a face hoof.
"You know" Began wind. "Scootaloo here spoke quite highly of you. Is there anything else going on between you two?'
Rumble blushed, heavily. He looked at his hooves.
"Dad! We're just friends and nothing more!!" Scootaloo was blushing as well but not nearly as heavy as Rumble.
Lightning and Wind began laughing hysterically while Thunderlane entered the living room. He introduced himself to Wind and the two got off surprisingly well. Thunderlane, Lightning and Wind did most of the talking, mostly about jobs, times when they were young although Lightning and Wind were about fifteen years older than Thunderlane and about past events regarding Scootaloo and Rumble, much to the embarrassment of the two. Scootaloo and Rumble were completely quiet all the while not uttering a single word unless asked. Lightning noticed the discomfort between the two foals, so she decided to spare the two of this kind of torture that she knew all too well.
"Hey Scoots. Why don't you and Rumble go to your room and hang out while we talk." Lightning had suggested and Scootaloo gratefully accepted the offer and rushed Rumble to her room closing the door. Wind wasn't very fond of the idea causing a silent conversation between him and Lightning but in the end, Rumble and Scootaloo were already in the room so not much could be done about it. The three would continue talking, moving to more adult conversation with the kids out of the room.
Once Scootaloo and Rumble were alone, Scootaloo punched Rumble in his arm as hard as she could.
"Ow! What was that for."
"For causing me to feel awkward for about half an hour!."
"I guess I deserved that. So what now?"
"I don't know. Wanna play a game?"
"Sure. What kind of games do you have."
"This is my favorite." Scootaloo pulled a game case from her bookshelf.
"What is it?"
"it's a game Rainbow Dash gave to me. It's called Fighting Is Magic. It's the best game ever!"
Rumble had hung out with Button Mash for years but he had never heard of this game before. "Is it you favorite because Rainbow Dash is on the cover?"
"Well...not really but it also has the rest of the elements of harmony and the princesses. So of course it would be cool for anypony."
"Okay but I have to warn you, I'm the best friend of Button Mash so I'm pretty good."
"Yeah, but you aren't Button Mash. So you're not the best."
"Oh yeah! I bet you I'll win on my first try."
"You're on! But I call Rainbow Dash."
"Fine! I'll play as Twilight! She is the element of magic after all."
Rumble and Scootaloo played for about an hour. They laughed and joked and Rumble even cried at one point, mostly due to the destruction of his ego, but all in all they had a great time and grew even closer as friends. Rumble would have went home but the day was still young and decided to spend it with, probably, his new best friend in the town for the rest of the day.
