Twins in Equestria

I was asleep, I knew that much, as I looked into a foggy black seemingly infinite void. I could not feel my feet touching anything, but it seemed like I was standing on the ground. I looked around the abyss searching for something, anything. I tried to lift my foot but it seemed like was stuck to the 'ground', this was getting rather annoying. I cupped my hands and tried to shout and still nothing. I huffed in aggravation and tried to sit down and my legs locked up instantly keeping me in place. I looked down to see a pair of flaming green eyes glaring at me. I stared back until I noticed cyan eyes joining them. Without any warning the green eyes flew towards me.

I woke up in a jolt and looked around the area. I was still in Rarity's boutique, somewhat safe and sound. I looked to my right just in time to see Rainbow's hoof fall lazily on my face. I winced as it brushed against the gash on my cheek.

From Rainbow I heard a muffled voice say "Where in Celestia's name is the snooze button on you?"

I stand up and stretch hearing audible pops snap from my spine. I hear RD groan as she sat up and stretched as well. I heard the unmistakable sound of hooves upon stairs as I wheel around to the source, putting a hand to my knife. I see Rarity and Sweetie Belle descending with two boxes flouting in tow.

"Austin, darling!, your order is finished!" Rarity called out.

"Just wait until you see them!" Sweetie added.

"Mind if I take a peek?" I ask.

Rarity lifts them far out of reach and says "Ah I don't think so Austin. Not until Matt and yourself are together."

I shrug and make my way towards the door, Rainbow jumps off the couch and trots next to me grabbing her saddle bag full of booze as she went. I open the door and step in to the cool summer evening air. I hold open the door for Rainbow and the Sisters as they walk out as well. We all walked in silence towards Sugercube Corner which was not to far away. This silence was perfect to think about that dream, what could it mean? I don't dream often and definitely not with such surrealism like this one had. It was dark and morbid and those piercing green eyes were like nothing I have ever seen...but something...something felt familiar...Eh probably seen it in a dream before but never remembered it.

Our sweet destination was now in sight. We could already see this party was huge for it had spilled out into the street. We started towards Sugercube Corner nearing the fringes of the party, the noise level was off the charts and I overpowered my Social Anxiety with shear brotherly love. As I scanned the party goers for Matt, Rainbow lifted into the air a few feet above my head just as Rarity and Sweetie Belle got behind me as I cleared a path through the sea of dancing ponies. With my protective thoughts coursing though my head I turned around and lifted a protesting Sweetie Belle out of the crowd and placed her on my shoulders.

Rarity beamed up at me as I did so, I flashed a scared smile and resumed the pilgrimage towards the center of the controlled madness. After a couple of shoves, ugly looks, and a handful of apology's later we finally reached the door. I stepped forward and opened the door for everyone once again. Rainbow passed through with Rarity quickly behind her and of course the boxes that were ever so presently laughing in my face. I followed after making sure to duck lower than usual for the adorable cargo upon my head.

Inside was surprisingly quieter and less packed, I sighed in relief in the change of atmosphere. I scanned easily over the short party-goers and spotted Matthew sitting at a table with Hatted-orange-pony, Yellowquiet, Pinkie Pie, Twilight, and to my unfathomable disgust: Lyra. Speaking of the minty devil I spot Lyra dropping a pill into Matt's drink as the five others turn and wave towards me. I kneel for a moment letting Sweetie off as she joins with some other fillies and I begin my approach. I skip greetings as I walk up to the table and snatch the cup out of Matt's hand.

"Hey!" Matt shouted in protest while reaching for the cup.

"You'll thank me later!" I declare as I down the punch in a few gulps.

"Jerk." Matt grumbles.

"Spazz." I retort as I grab a chair and sit down between Matt and Lyra, tossing the empty cup carelessly over my shoulder.

I nod at the others at the table as Rarity and Rainbow get settled in. Rarity places the boxes in the middle of the table and looks a me with a glint in her eyes. I feel a nudging at my left side, I turn and glare at Lyra.

"Sit back and enjoy the ride Austin. This is going to be a wild night for me and you." Lyra says while winking at me.

"Really now?!" I spit the pill back into her face and add "You didn't think I would swallow a pill did you? Tsk tsk tsk you are losing your touch Lyra."

"Well there is more ruffies where that came from and soon you will slip." Lyra said as she rubbed my leg underneath the table.

I swat her hoof off and look around the table. I saw everyone was eyeing the boxes in the middle of the cups, cupcakes, and cupcake accessories. I lay a hand on the two boxes and look at Rarity.

"Well Darling it seems you can't contain yourself any longer, go ahead." Rarity says with the up most satisfaction in her voice.

"Matt I got us a little something something." I say with a wide smile splitting my face.

"What is it?" Matt's eyes glint as he asks.

"Stand and i'll show you." I reply

We both stand as I open the top box and pull out its contents. Within the first was a black hoodie with army green inlay within the seams and army green coating the inner layers of the hoodie as well. I passed it to Matt and fished mine out of the second box, same style but with sky blue instead of green. We both slipped on the hoodies and zipped them up, each observing each other in the other as the mares at the table observed in respective silence.

"Check out the hood." I say.

Matt flipped on the beaked hood as I stared at the shadows where his eyes should be. I mimicked him and did just the same, both of our faces obscured by the shadows, there was a tenseness in the air but I put it off.

"Its pretty cool Austin." Matt said in a nonchalant voice.

"Glad you like it." I reply and rush him for a hug.

"Wait whats on the back?" Matt said, pushing me off and wheeling me around.

"What is it?" I ask back.

"It a Gemini sign, I added it for that special touch." Rarity added from across the table.

I unzip and whisk off the jacket to look at the symbol closer. Indeed it was a Gemini sign in army green and in between the two columns there was a unmistakable large 'A'. Same with Matt's except his was sky blue with a large 'M'. I place the jacket back into the box and turn towards Rarity.

"Once again Rarity you have completely outdone yourself, I am paying you double, I insist." I turn back towards Matt and add "So lets get this party started!"

After the partying died down I concluded that this day was a complete success. I gave my twin a unique gift, I got revenge, cock-blocked Lyra multiple times, and I hung out with friends, this day was a good day indeed. Matt and I were calmly walking through the midnight streets to our lovely abode. To the left of me Matt, the talented bugger, was balancing the boxes on his head and I was inspecting the finger-loops on my trench knife. We decided it was not the right time to wear our jackets. I break the silence.

"So did you enjoy yourself?" I asked.

"Hell yeah I did!" Matt answered in vigor, almost dropping the boxes but quickly regaining his balance.

I grunt approvingly and flick out the blade, inspecting it in the dim light, the blade needs some sharping on the tip but otherwise it's perfect. I retract the blade and slip my fingers through the laces, gripping it tightly for a moment and loosening it. We turn left on the corner and see our comfortable home waiting for us. My eyes being more accustomed to the dark, I catch movement on my left, something long with a glinting end... A Spear...

It pokes out of a wide alley way and charges forward. I push Matt out of the way just in time for the spear to miss him and impale me though the left side. The spear is painfully ripped out and I scream in pain as the attacker steps out from the shadows. It was that green earth pony from before, his muzzle and body lacked eyebrows, mane, and tail, his body was suffering from large burn wounds.

"Matt! Get away!" I shout as I once again flick out the trench blade and tightened my grip upon it's body in my right hand. Matt heads the warning and passes by us and runs once again towards Twilight's house.

"You took everything from me you bucking freak!" The earth pony shouts as he stands on his two hind hooves rushes me with the spear once again.

I grunt in pain as duck under the jab and grab the shaft of the spear right behind the pointed end. I quickly turn my back to him and put the spear on my shoulder, then with all my might I pull down and stand up simultaneously. The spear head snaps off in my hands and I turn towards the stallion only to see him winding up to buck me with his hind feet. He lands a hit right to my chest. I fly into the wall behind me, when I hit the wall I feel several sicking snaps in my right side. I land on my knees and wheeze several times, making think I was down for the count.

He scoops up the spear head in his mouth and trots towards me. I tighten my grip on the knife still in my right hand (Thank you finger-laces!), I had one shot, better make it count.

He stops in front of me and somehow says through the spear head. "This is for everything, freak, oh and by the way your twin is ne-"

He never finished the sentence because I put the blade through his neck, piercing to the back of his throat. I grabbed the nape of his neck and wrenched out the blade then stabbed him again and again and again. Matt and Twilight arrived and immediately dragged me away from the bleeding lifeless body of the pony. I began to feel the adrenaline wearing off and the pain in both of my sides we flaring. I groaned in agony as I put pressure on the open wound on my left side, I lifted my hand to look at the blood: it was the expected black that I was accustomed to. I babbled in coherently as I felt increasingly dizzy.

"Hey... Hospital!...dying." I spluttered.

There was a bright flash of purple and sudden bright light, I felt my back laying on linoleum.

"We need a Doctor over here now!" Matt shouted.

I felt myself drifting off as I turned and clutched Matt by the shirt.

"Matt...I.....love ya..." I say as I begin feel my body go limp.

"I love you too Austin, stay with me." Matt says back. I try to tell him to calm down, that everything was going to be alright, but I passed out before I could.

I hear the steady beat of EKG to my right was I slowly regained consciousness. Across my face I felt the warm sun blasting through a window somewhere in the room. I opened my eyes to be blinded momentarily by the light, I lifted a hand to block it for a moment while my eyes adjust. I then reviled in the sight of the morning sun, good to be alive after all. My admiration was interrupted by a glint of green at the foot of the bed I was on. I try to sit up but feel blaring pain in both my sides so I will have to settle for speaking.

"Who's there?" I ask. I received no reply but instead a tan unicorn with a EKG for a cutie mark and brown hair trotted into view. I stared at him as he looked around sheepishly. He makes eye contact for a moment before running out of the room. His eyes... his eyes were a cyan lacking a pupil. No that's crazy his eyes weren't cyan I was just seeing things. I took a deep breath only to be stopped by pain in my right side. I breathed through my teeth in agony.

I lifted up the soft warm covers in a attempt to see the damage done. They patched up the stab wound but I don't think they had too much extensive knowledge on how to patch up human organs. I inspect the location of the wound and note that my kidney and stomach must have been pierced, so liquid diet I could only assume. I shifted my attention to my sore ribs, I rubbed the covered area gently. I must have two to three cracked ribs at most. Then I noticed to much of my discomfort that I was naked. As if this could get any worse.

I look around the room observing my surroundings. Small table with a flower and vase and a window to the left. To the right a blank wall with a EKG and I.V. in my arm. Heartbeat is 40 beats per minute, my usual heart rate. I jumped a bit when there was knocking on the door, I groaned in pain and turned my attention to the door. I see the pony from before trot in but this time he was wearing a white lab coat and I could see his eyes were blue.

"Forgot something?" I ask.

He tilts his head and says "What?"

"You were in here before but you ran out. That was you wasn't it?" I reply.

"Nope, I am the only doctor in today and I am not to sure anypony looks too much like me." the stallion says.

"Whatever, so how can I help ya?" This was giving me a headache.

"I just wanted to let you know that you have visitors that would like to see you." He said in a absent-minded tone while he took a look at some charts at the end of the bed.

"Well send them in if it isn't to much trouble Doc." I say.

"They will be here momentarily." He said as he left the room.

I shift in the bed a bit and put my mind at ease. I do not care if I was going to die anyway, if Matt is safe I don't have a care in the world. I listened in on the hallway right outside the door, sounds like bouncing noises, must be pinkie and a few others. Just as I suspected Pinkie bounces through the door followed by Rarity, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Appleshy, and Flutterjack. I strain my neck to see if Matt was there as the six guests surrounded my bed.

Twilight spoke up first "Austin, that was the dumbest thing you have done ever."

"If that's what you think then you really don't know what I am capable of." I reply as I stare at the open door.

Rainbow Dash then lofts up and gets in my face saying "You don't understand do you?! You almost died out there! Right out there in the hallway! Its a miracle that you survived!"

"So? I don't care as-" I shrug, immediately wincing in pain.

"You don't care?! We care Austin! Your friends care!" Rainbow interrupted as she motioned a hoof across her friends around me.

I deepen my frown and look down breaking eye contact from the fuming pegasus in front on me. She returned to her original place next to the bed.

"Ah guess ya won't be makin' it to mah farm today." Jackleapp said softly.

"Guess not." I say.

There was a flash of purple as Twilight spawned another notepad and quill. She took a step back and started to scribble things down. Pinkie was next to break the thickening silence.

"So Austie how are you feeling?" she asked.

"Hurt." I blurt out

"You wanna hug it out? *Squee*" Pinkie said while hopping in place. I did not have to look up to see the mile-wide smile.

I shake my head, Pinkie stopped hopping and I heard a whimpering sound, I ignore the sound effects and ask "First off where is Matt?" still not looking up.

Pink-on-yellow responded in a soft tone "He's at my cottage helping me with tending my animal friends."

I look up and glare at her "Why aren't you with him now? He could be in danger. Five others are still out there."

She squeaked and hid out of sight, I cracked my neck and sat up despite the pain. I groaned in momentary defeat when a blue aura pushed my shoulders back.

"Stop it, you are acting like a brute." Rarity spoke up in a haughty voice.

"Come on." I growl as I sit up once again, the EKG began to beep faster as I felt the pain ripping through my entire torso. Rainbow lofted up once again and pushed me back gentility as she could as Twilight tightened the bed sheets around me with her magic, pinning me down.

"Austin if you don't stop, i'll make you." Twilight warned.

I thought for a moment and muttered "Some friends you are." as I crossed my arms. Rainbow landed on the bed by my feet, and the EKG dropped back down to a normal rate.

"So why are you here exactly?" I asked with the sound of anger in my voice.

Everypony looked at Twilight, she stop writing in her notepad and kicked the ground nervously. She looked at me saying "Well...Both of the Princesses are coming to Ponyville because of the recent events...concerning you."

"Aww Fuck."
