Wish Upon a Falling Star
Prologue
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was late at night, I was alone on a grassy hill on the outskirts of the farm that I lived on. I was staring up at the sky admiring all of the constellations, when, out of nowhere I see a bright light shoot across the sky. Knowing what to do I made a wish. A simple wish that would change my life forever.
“I wish I was up in the stars, on a distant planet, away from this trashed-up rock” I smiled, and as I did I could see the star flash brightly for a second before disappearing from view on the opposite horizon. I turned away with the smile still on my face and I walked home. I opened the door, I went to my bedroom and fell asleep on the bed.
That night a very peculiar occurrence took place. I knew I was asleep because I was staring down at my snoring body. I looked down at my dream-hands and I saw that they were glowing white and I could see directly through them. I turned away from my sleeping self and as I walked forward another figure appeared. It was… it was… a pony! I didn’t know what to think or say but I’m glad I didn’t have to start the conversation. The pony was a dark blue pony easily standing equal height with me. She wore a small crown upon her head, when I inspected her closer, I saw that the pony had a horn and wings at its side. Its mane was flowing like it should’ve if it were being attacked by the wind. But since we were indoors, the aspect of its mane confused me immensely.
“Hello young one. I am Princess Luna,” She started walking around me, I watched her as she made her way over to my sleeping body. “There will be time for introductions later, we are leaving this barren planet. Go and spend your last 5 minutes with your family. I will be here when you return.”
I nodded, still unsure of what to say to the mysterious pony that appeared in my dreams. I walked out of my room and into the hallway, its hard walking without being able to see your legs as physical objects of matter. I made my way to my parent’s room and I slipped through the door. Another cool thing about being in a dream like this is that I can phase through solid objects. I don’t want to test if there are limits to that though.
I appear on the other side of the door and I see my parents sleeping, they are entwined together in the middle of the bed. My mother, Angela, and my father, Gregg together. I picked up a pen and I started to write something on some paper, I still wonder how I managed to do that, but after I thought about it, it decided it may be better if I don’t give them a note, because they will start looking for me. So I put the paper and pencil back and I pick up a family portrait. It was a picture of my parents and I with my big sister and my grandma and grandpa in front of the house.
I smiled at the picture. I took one more glance at my parents before I took the picture with me as I left the room to return to my own room. “Uh, Princess Luna? Would it be too much of a burden to take this picture with me?”
She smiles warmly and nods her head. “Yes, I can see why you’d want to take that. I imagine you’d want to take extra special care of it”
I consider giving the mare a hug for doing this for me but I decided to ask. “May I give you a hug for the effort you are going through to do this for me?”
“You are very welcome for this, but there will be time for all of that later, but first, are you ready?”
“Well, you haven’t told me where exactly we are going yet.”
She smiles before replying. “We are going to a planet called Equis. I hope your stay there will be good.”
I raise an eyebrow. “What do you mean ‘stay’? Is it a permanent visit or temporary?”
“That depends on how you act. Be good, and you will stay. But don’t test my, nor my sister’s patience”
“Okay then, I am ready to go.”
“I am going to wake you up now, when you awaken, you will not be able to see me. Just follow the light.”
I get sucked back into my body before I can respond. “Huh? What? was that a dream?” I look outside and I see a glowing light on the hill I was on when I wished upon the star earlier. I quickly jumped out of bed and ran quietly to the door, remembering to go back and pick up the picture frame. I dashed outside running towards the light. When I got there, it became so bright, I had to avert my eyes to avoid going blind. One thing for sure, I was going to be seeing spots for a while.
After a moment the light died completely. Before me was a tiny capsule. I walked up to it and I stepped inside. Instantly, the capsule doors closed, locking me inside the capsule. Before I could react the capsule hurtled at the speed of light away from the earth. I watched with amazement and fear at the earth. Amazement for finally seeing the entire earth with my own eyes. And fear because I didn’t know where I was going. Several seconds later It began getting very cold. I sighed as I realized what was happening. Since there was no way I could avoid the inevitable, I sat back and got comfortable as I was consumed by ice.
Floating aimlessly through space was not fun in the slightest.
