Wish Upon a Falling Star

I have no idea how long I was frozen but the next thing I knew, was being defrosted. Apparently I was pulled out of the capsule and placed next to a fire to slowly defrost me. My senses slowly returned to me as I was being defrosted. My brain turned on, making me conscious again. None of my nerves were online so I was thankful for that. Next, my hearing returned. My ears were still covered by ice so whoever was talking out there I couldn’t understand. The next sense that returned was my sight. When I was able to see again, I was staring at a sight even more boring that watching grass grow.  A huge chunk of ice was all I could see. Along with slight colors that shined in from outside. The first color aside from the colors the ice gave off was orange.

The next feeling that returned was my leg nerves, I was able to feel again… great, so now I’m cold AND bored. As more of the ice melted, I could finally hear who was talking.

“-don’t know if it is dangerous of not. We’ve never seen anything like it before. Perhaps I should send a letter to Princess Celestia, explaining that we found something we’ve never seen before?”

“Yea, the Princess should definitely know ‘bout this” I hear the familiar sound of paper moving against wood and what sounds like a pen being pressed against the paper.

“SPIKE! Send this letter to Princess Celestia, please.”

“With pleasure.” I hear the sound of paper being scorched by fire.

Well, the ice is melting off my face, great timing too, my face nerves turned back on. A hold formed in the ice, directly where my left eye is. I finally get a look at who was talking. as I see the figure, memories rush back to me: Luna, earth, the picture, and the farm.

Well! Its about time I was given the ability to use my mouth. “arbblergh”

“Uh, twi?” The purple unicorn turns its head toward the voice from my left. “I just heard whatever is in this ice block make a noise.”

“Really? Fascinating” she, I could tell it was a she, walked up to me and lightly touched my leg that was still encased in ice.

“Wait! Uh, twi? Shouldn’t we have gotten a Princess or a guard? Just in case it gets violent?”

“Yes, go get Rainbow Dash. You and her can hold back whatever this monstrosity is”

Did she just call me a monstrosity? That made me quite angry, but I got iced back down to a calm state.

“whare am I?” After being lost in space for who-knows-how-long, you’d have to relearn how to speak correctly.

“wait, do you speak?” I could feel weight on my legs again and I see the purple pony staring into my eyes. I studied her for a moment before I spoke again.

“yesh”

The pony leaps back. “Are you sentient?”

After being in ice for soooo long, its hard to remember things… it’s a good thing my brain has just finished defrosting. “Yes”

The chunk of ice that was on my face fell to the floor revealing the room to me. I still couldn’t move my head though but I could still look around. The unicorn was standing on the other side of the crackling fire staring at me with wide eyes. She has a bit of a defensive stance just incase I were to lunge at her or something. To my left I hear a door open.

“Alright, so! Is that the thing we’re supposed to keep under control?” a flying pony hovers into view from my left. She flies up really close and squints her eyes. “Don’t try any funny business thing! You’d better not be a spy!”

“Settle down sally! Whatever it is, we can’t hurt it until we know more about it.” Great, that sounds promising. “Let’s let it defrost, I’ll go fetch a blanket for it.”

As she said that, the chunk of ice on my back crashed onto the ground and I was free to move my torso. I pushed the ice off my chest and my arms then I reached down and shook the ice off my legs. All three ponies stared at me, ready to attack if necessary. I stumble forward and I fall, passing out mere inches from the flame. That’s the last thing I remembered from that night.

When I woke up again, I was laying on a bed with a blanket over me keeping me warm. I blinked my eyes and I rubbed them. “Where am I?”

“Oh good! You’re awake.” A purple unicorn walks out in front of me followed by the other two ponies I saw before.

The blue one flies up to me. “No funny business, or else I’ll make you take a nap… forever”

I lowered my head back down to the pillow to try to get away from the blue Pegasus. Thankfully the orange one comes to my rescue, biting the blue one’s tail and drags her away from me.

“Come on Rainbow! Give him a chance! He hasn’t done anything yet.”

I heave mightily, practically coughing my lungs out of my body. After a minute of wheezing my lungs out I am able to talk but in a very croaky voice. “Where am I?”

The purple one walks up to me. “You are in PonyVille. I’ve never seen anything like you before. What are you?”

“I am a… a… human” I sniff loudly.

The purple one turns to the blue one. “Go get Fluttershy, if she doesn’t know what to do, nopony will”

The blue one saluted and flew out the door. The orange and purple ponies turn their attention back to me.

“Well, I think this may be a good time to introduce ourselves, My name is Twilight Sparkle, and this is AppleJack. The blue one you saw fly out the door is Rainbow Dash.”

I nod and open my mouth to speak but the door bursts open to show rainbow dash holding a Fluttershy that seems to be fighting to get away. She flies in and closes the door and drops the yellow one on the floor. “Come on flutters, we need your help with this, nopony knows animals nearly as much as you do.”

“I’m not an animal” I spat with a slight hint of anger.

Rainbow Dash flies over to me. “Then what are you?”

“I am a human,” I said “My name is Gage, I am too weak to hurt you even if I wanted to, which I don’t. Being frozen in ice can really mess with your head.”

“A human huh? Are humans working for chrysalis?”

Twilight steps in. “We found him encased frozen solid. We defrosted him yesterday. I don’t see the possibility of him being a changeling, dash”

“Eh, I guess you’re right but I still don’t trust him! I say we get the other two elements here to deal with him. Fluttershy!” An ‘eep!’ echoes from across the room. “Come over here and help this poor creature.”

At the words ‘poor creature’, fluttershy leaps up and flies over to me. “Oh my goodness! Are you okay?”

“Well,” I cough again “I was trapped in ice for who-knows-how-long, so no I’m not okay”

She scoops me up, somehow able to hold my entire weight. “I must get you taken care of right now!”

I can see twilight handing-or hoofing- a letter to a small baby… dragon?? Who breathes fire on the letter, a trail of smoke flying out of the open window.

Fluttershy places me back on the bed and rushes off to god-knows-where and returns with a bowl of soup who gently lifts it up to my lips so I can take a drink of it.

As the liquid rushes down my throat I can think of anything but how amazing this tastes. It was like a warm biscuit just out of the oven and spread with butter. Mmm it was simply divine.

“Wow, what is in this? This is delicious!”

Fluttershy blushes. “it’s a special recipe. Its full of herbs and all sorts of things like that.”

“Well, its great!” Across the room I see rainbow dash flying outside, “Well thank you very much Fluttershy, but I’m going to try to get more sleep.” I give her back the bowl and I lay down and close my eyes.
