Chapter 3: Highway to D-13

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

It had been one hour since we left for Dimension 13, where the Multiverse Brawl is held. Me and Stardust were told that it would be a four hour trip. I would have been bored out of my mind if I wasn't thinking of my friends and Scootaloo.

I looked over at Stardust. He was fast asleep in his chair. Sleep sounded good right now, I was really tired. Todays events were exhausting. First Scootaloo got lost, then she got chosen, then I volunteered to go in her place, then I appeared in a van with Stardust, and then...

(Sleep)

I awoke in the same chair I slept in for three hours for the trip. My eye lids felt heavy as I opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was me, for I was curled up in a little ball. I didn't lift my head, or move my attention to anything else but me. I was still in a groggy state due to the long nap that I took, so I didn't feel like moving at all. I didn't  want to go back to sleep either. I just layed there on the chair, resting. My eyes began to close, but I still didn't want to sleep. I was probably awake laying on the chair for about five minutes until Stardust came up to me and began to speak. "Rainbow?". I groaned and wiggled a bit. "Rainbow were here.". I just pulled myself tighter into my ball. I heard a 'hm' and some hoofsteps. I guessed he just walked away. But then I began to feel myself lift off the chair, losing the grip that held my little ball and making me spring open. He put my face up to his. "Time to get up sleepyhead." He said with a smile.

"Whyyyyyy?" I asked in a whiney voice.

"It's time to go to school you dolt!"

"I'm to old for school."

"Oh my gosh." Stardust whispered. "Were at D-13!"

I immediatly sprang into action. (Still being held up by magic of course.) "W-wait! What!!"

"Yup." He released me from his magic and I plopped down on the ground.

I immediatly ran for a nearby window. I saw thousands of skeletons of many species waving at the van. All I could think of was panic. But I didn't. The van came to a stop with a 'screeech'. I looked at the door. Two skeletons came through a door to the left of the door I was staring at.

"We're here!" They both said in unison. "Now please exit through the door!" Only one of them said this time.

"Wait, you aren't coming with us?" Stardust said.

"Nope! Now out you go!"

Stardust and I both could do nothing but do what they said. So we both walked towards the front door slowly, and together.

"Anything else after we exit?" I asked, looking at one of the skeletons.

"Just keep going strait and you'll make it to a door, walk through it and wait for your trainer."

"Trainer?"

"Yupseeyabye!!" One of the skeletons said as they both pushed me and Stardust out the door, slamming it behind us.

Before we knew it, me and Stardust were being pounded by smiles, confetti, and applause from the multi-species skeletons behind a short, brightly colored wall that separated them from a red carpeted trail that led to a door.

"Well... let's go." Stardust said encouragingly, getting a head start in front of me. I began to follow his lead. I kept my head down. I felt embarassed, I don't know how, but I just did. Stardust, on the other hoof, seemed to be enjoying it. He kept his

head high, smiling, waving a hoof every once in a while.

When we reached the door, Stardust opened it with his magic and let me inside first. I looked back at our "fans" and managed to put out a fake smile. As soon as I got inside Stardust went in and closed the door. The room was completely empty, no sounds could be heard. Not even the sounds of those skeletons. It was a small room with four chairs and a table in the middle of them. On that table there seemed to be three cups, and a tea kettle that I thought to be full of tea. Around the chairs there were many tables with a bunch of different pastries, and beverages. Some I had never seen before.

"Is this like a dining room?" Stardust asked.

"Looks more like a small potluck."

"Do we get to eat these?"

"I don't know."

Me and Stardust approached one of the plates that was full of untouched pastries and looked at it.

"Try poking it." Stardust said.

"Why would we poke it? It's meant for eating right?"

"So eat it."

"Ok."

I reached and grabbed one of the pastries, then I held it close to my face and hesitated.

"Are you scared?"

"No I'm not scared."

"Than eat it."

"You eat one."

"Why? You want me to check if it's poison?"

"No, I want you to... prove yourself."

"So eating this will prove I'm brave."

"Brave enough to eat foreign foods."

"So you are scared."

"No I'm not."

"Than eat yours first."

"Fine." I plopped the pastry into my mouth and chewed it slowly. I prepared to touch it with my toungue. It tasted... good. It filled my mouth with the flavor of chocolate. I immediately chewed it the rest of the way up and swallowed it. My eyes glistened in reflection of the taste of the wonderful pastry.

"How was it?"

"Like....... heaven!"

"Really?"

"Eat yours!! Eat yours!!"

"Are you feeling o *HURMPH*"

I forced the pastry into Stardusts mouth. I then stood back and saw him carefully chew it. His eyes soon started to shine like

mine did.

"How was it?"

"Like....... heaven!"

We both giggled in unison and looked at the other pastries around the room.

"We should eat more!!"

"Yes!!"

We instantly jumped into a "Pinkie Pie" kind of sugar rush and started to bounce around the room. We ate every single pastry we saw. Every once in a while one of us would say "Oooh! Try this one!", and throw one across the room to each other.

Meanwhile, outside that room. GLaDOS, the arena designer, and supervisor, was walking with Stardust and I's trainer, Be. Be was a blue furred, yellow maned earth pony that had previously won the games.

"One more question." GLaDOS and Be were now outside the door, all the skeletons had gone to their homes. Be was asking GLaDOS questions on their way to the room Stardust and I were in.

"What is it Be?"

"Why did you choose me to train them?"

"Because one of them is the first tribute in D-12 and she needs a special trainer."

"But why not another person to train them?"

"Because their ponies moron! Quit being Wheatly! Your the only one who can teach ponies how to fight! Besides, this might

be the last time you see your own stupid race again."

"Really? Their my race! Wait... Wheatly?"

Winners of the games stay in D-13 forever. The people in charge of the games take the winners and completely change their identities, and memory. So your lucky if you get to see your race ever again.

"Wheatly is... a person. So are you going to go in there or what. I have stuff to do."

"Ok. So right through this door?"

"Moron... Yes!"

"Ok."

"Bye moron."

"Bye."

GLaDOS phased through the air and vanished. Then Be turned and looked at the door.

*Sigh* 'Well, here I go.'

Be opened the door to find Stardust and I feasting piggishly on pastries. We all paused instantly realizing the situation we were in. We just stared at each other in awkward silence for what seemed like minutes. Stardust and I stood on opposite tables with several colors on our mouths. Be stood at the door awestruck at the mess that we made.

There were splattered pastries everywhere on the floor, walls, and even the ceiling. There were also plates spread everywhere across the room.

"Um... hi." Be said, keeping his struck position and look.

"Hi." I said with a mouth full of food.

Be walked in the room a bit farther. "Quite a mess you got here."

"Yes... indeed." Stardust said.

I got down from the table and sat down on a chair in the middle of the room and looked down at the floor. Stardust and Be did the same. We sat in a long awkward silence. All of us staring at the floor. It took a while until I broke the silence.

"Soooooo." Be perked his head up at me, "Who are you?".

"Oh yeah, I sort of forgot the obvious question didn't I? My name is Be, I will be your trainer for the games."

"You mean the only pony that won the games?" Stardust joined the conversation.

"Yeah. Thats me."

(Another silence for some reason.)

"So whats your first tip?" I began again.

"Don't die."

"Nice tip." Stardust said sarcastically.

Be stretched his hooves in the air and yawned loudly. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm sleepy."

"But it's day time." I said.

"No. It's night time."

"Really?"

"Yeah. The train is going to leave soon as well."

"Train?"

"Thats what I thought too. Cmon, I'll lead you to the beds. It's going to be a two day trip to where the events are being held."

"Ok but I have more questions." Stardust said.

"Ask away."

"Train?"

"Oh yeah."

I didn't listen to them anymore. I just looked down at the floor as we walked through the hallways that led to the beds. With them distracted this gave me a little time to think about Scootaloo. Though there was nothing to think about except how much I loved her, and I may never see her again. Those two thoughts just looped through my mind continuously, like I couldn't stop thinking about her.

When we got to the beds Stardust and I stopped in front of Be, who turned to face us and spoke. "These are the beds that you and I will be sleeping in for two days.". The bedroom was much like the room with the (Amazing!) pastries, only with bunk beds stood right beside each other. Between each bed was a small desk with one droor and a lamp. Only all of the lamps were unlit.

Stardust giggled a bit.

"What?" Be asked.

"You made a joke." Stardust said, still giggling.

"How? Oh. Hm. Well goodnight."

"Goodnight." Me and Stardust said in unison.

Then Be went, and crawled into a top bunk bed. "Would one of you get the light?" Be asked as he climbed a ladder into a bed.

"Sure." I said, "Where is it?".

"It's by the door."

I looked over to the left of the door. There was a white rectangle with some green lights on it. "This thing?" I asked, approaching the rectangle.

"Yes."

I looked at it. It had no buttons, or pulleys, or anything but lights on it. "How does it work?".

Stardust soon came over by my side to look at it. "That is a light Be. Not something to turn off lights.".

"It has motion sensors." Be began, "Put your hand onto it. Has your technology gained any?".

"Has your eyes gained any? We have hooves." I said in a rude voice.

"Oh, sorry. I've been in this dimension for so long I guess I sort of forgot my own body parts."

I put my hoof over the green. *BEEP* Stardust and I gasped at the sound and jumped.

"What are you, cavemen?"

"Ponies." I said, looking back at Be.

"Whatever."

We all said goodnight to each other before we each crawled into beds. As I closed my eyes Scootaloos figure slowly came into view. Thats all I dreamed about in my sleep. Her.
