The Multiverse Brawl
Chapter 4: Simulation
Previous ChapterNext ChapterStardust and I were brought into a room by Be with nothing but a chair. Nothing else, just a chair, just a metal chair. This metal chair just sat in the middle of the room... being a chair. Soon the curiosity forced a question from my mouth.
"Be, this is a chair. Why did you take us to a room with nothing but a chair?"
"This isn't just any chair." Be said, moving over to the chair and pressing a button on it that I didn't notice before. "It's a simulation chair."
When he pressed the button, a bunch of wires with suction cups popped out of secret compartments that just fell out on the floor. A breifcase also came out the back of the chair.
Stardust approached the chair and looked at one of the fallen wires. "What are these?"
"They're things that I attach to our heads so we can see your simulation."
"What-" I began to say, but I was interrupted by Be.
"A technology from a dimension that used to participate in the games." He walked over to the briefcase and brought it forward with his mouth. Then he placed it in front of us. "In here, we have the simulation serum.".
"Wha-" Stardust was also interrupted by Be.
"The simulation sends you into the games so you can try out your loadout. Which reminds me; you two still haven't made your loadouts yet." Be looked between Stardust and me, and then to the door. "You two can make your loadouts on the screen's out there."
Stardust and went outside the room. The room was as empty as it was when I passed it earlier. I guess that with all the rooms on this train they didn't have time to decroate them all. I looked more closely around the room. There were two screens to the right of the door we exited. I went to the one on the left, and Stardust on the right.
On the screen it said, Touch Screen to Start. So I touched the screen with my right hoof and it shined white before going to another slide.
I found it amazing that another world could be so different. I heard there was some kind of unheard magic or technology. But a machine that could detect motion? How far can they go?
The screen had many squares with many different sharp looking weapons. At the bottom of the screen it had a number that said 0/6. The top of the screen had several different names of races. I read through them. Human, Grunt, Elite, Koopa
Troopa, Unicorn, Earth Pony, Pegasus. I pressed my hoof to "Pegasus" as soon as I pressed my hoof on it, it brought the screen to several weapons that would perfectly fit a pegasus. I scrolled through the weapons by moving the screen with my hoof. I pressed my hoof to a weapon that would be used on my hoof. It showed a larger image of the weapon, and a description beside it.
It said: A weapon that is placed on a fighter's hoof. This weapon it a spiked hoof weapon that adds additional power and lethalness to a punch, or buck. Magic can be applied to this weapon.
I thought of tackling somepony (one) with the hoof weapon. With my speed, it would be incredibly lethal and hard to dodge. I looked down by the lower right corner of the screen that had a green rectangle that said, "Add to Loadout". I pressed it, and
I continued in my search for weapons. I also found that I could also add peices of armor to my loadout.
I found the five other peices of my loadout; a blade that clings to my wings, a chest guard, a helmet, shin guards, and a steel horn that sticks to my helmet.
I finished up my loadout and looked to my right. Stardust must've been done with his a few minutes ago because he was gone. I walked in the room with the simulation chair. Stardust was sitting it the chair, and Be was attatching those suction cups to himself, and Stardust.
"Hi. Done with your loadout?" Be asked me, attaching a wire to his head.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Well, do want to see inside Star's simulation?"
"Sure."
"Alright then come here." Be motioned me to come to him, and I did so. He attatched three suction cups to my head. Two on my temples, one on my forehead. Then he reached down into the metal breifcase that popped out the bottom of the chair earlier. He pulled out a regular sized needle.
"Ok Star, show me your neck." Be said.
"Wh-GAAAAAA!!!" Stardust freaked out with eye contact with the needle. He flailed as Be tried to keep Stardust on the chair.
I fell to the ground laughing and pounding my hoof on the floor
After about thirty seconds of screaming, Be managed to force the needle into Stardust's neck. He soon fell asleep afterward.
I began to see into his thoughts. A dark blue blur came into veiw. It was Stardust. He was in the middle of a field surrounded my a forest. He was wearing a helmet, back guard, chest guard, hoof weapons (Only on his back hooves.), and a crossbow and quiver (The quiver being full of arrows.). Each of the weapons were gold colored, as the weapons I chose were.
He was standing on a podium, awaiting the games to start. There were many different species standing on podiums around him. The podiums formed a circle. In the middle of the circle there was a bunch of supplies scattered along the grass that was sheltered by a cornucopia.
19 A number said in the sky.
I couldn't really tell if he was scared, or eager. He was shaking, yet he had a determined face. He began to lift his hoofs up and down to get rid of the shaking.
5
5 five seconds before, killing, life, and death. This is how it feels to be like this. This will be how I feel. This will be my demise, or my life.
3... 2... 1... *HOOOOOONK*
Most of the fighters charged into the cornucopia, the others ran into the forest. Stardust was among the ones who ran to get supplies. I could already see people dying, and falling to the ground, covered in blood.
It looked like Stardust didn't care. He just kept running, and running. He definitely looked scared though. He was looking around every angle as he ran.
He tripped.
He fell to the ground like a boulder. A species I had never seen before spotted him. It was a tall beast that wore silver armor. It was like a small minotaur, only without the horns and its mouth was like a spider. It weilded a trident. It lifted up its weapon at Stardust and gave a mighty shout as he threw his trident forward. Stardust was able to dodge the attack. Though the beast threw itself at Stardust, tackling him to the ground. Stardust tried to use his magic to pull it off of him, but he couldn't do it. The beast stabbed him with a knife.
And we woke up.
We all became awake, gasping for air. We sat with awestruck faces. All of us except Be. Who said, "Well... Rainbow wanna give it a shot?".
"Sh-sure..." I said, still in a struck state.
o)O(o<
Same feeling. Same setting. Same thing. I look around my surroundings. These are the same people in Stardusts simulation. I look at the beast to my left. The same one that "killed" Stardust. He looks at me. I instantly look away. Though that glimpse that I got of his eyes showed me something I didn't see before. The look wasn't intimidating, or calm, or cocky. They were scared. I looked back at it, and it looked back at me. The eyes were trusting now. But then I looked deeper into them, and saw life, sentience even. I looked back at the cornucopia, and above it.
5... 4... 3... 2... (Buck!) 1... *HOOOOOONK*
I knew I could run in and grab something before anyone noticed my presence. I immediately flew into the cornucopia, grabbed a red bag and looked into the forest. The path was blocked. I flew up with the bag in my forelegs. A stubby, brown, winged, large mouthed creature with spiked armor stood in my path. It tackled me and bit my front right leg, causing the bag to fall-along with me. I hit the ground with a thud. I felt no pain. It felt like I was panicking though. But I felt nothing else. I closed my eyes, and felt myself lift away from the universe.
Is it over...
o)O(o<
I awoke in pain. I could now feel it. It surged through my body like electricity. I opened my eyes. A blur came into veiw. It was the beast. It was sitting on a rock, its back turned to me. I lifted up my head and groaned in pain. I looked over at my leg that was badly injured. It wasn't covered in blood, but it still leaked some.
The beast then turned around and said, "You are awake.". Its voice was low toned, and strong.
I flinched realizing he noticed my concious presence. My heart started beating fast as negative realities popped up in my mind. He's going to kill me. He's going to kill me. HIDE! RUN!
"You were attacked by a Flying Goomba, and I saved you. I did my best to heal your wounds too."
Those thoughts soon left my mind when I heard this. A bit of encouragement brang me to say, "Thanks.". I looked at myself.
My armor and weapons were gone. "Where's my stuff?"
"It is behind you."
I tried to look behind me, but a shock of pain went through me when I tried.
"You must be still. Your wounds have not healed yet." It said, not making a movement.
"Ok." I moved back into place. "So what's your name?"
"My name is Gresk. And you are?"
"My name is Rainbow Dash." I moved into more of a slouching position as I said this.
It flinched, and stood. "Do you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
Gresk moved to my right and picked up his trident. "Stay here." Gresk said. "I must go find our spy."
Then he moved out of the cave. I layed on my side, pain surging through me as I did so. Though I ingnored it. I thought of Scootaloo. Her face, her actions, her feelings, her times together with me. I sighed.
All of those thoughts left my mind as I heard a scream. It didn't sound like Gresk, but it still filled me with fright. I closed my eyes and thought of happy things. But that just lead to Scootaloo, which made me cry.
Gresk soon came in. He saw me crying and crouched down next to me.
"Are you ok? What happened?" Gresk asked.
I just continued to cry. I managed to look up at it. That just made me remember Stardusts "death", and caused me to cry more. He put a hand on my shoulder. I looked back at Gresk, looking into his eyes this time. I saw sympathy, and care. Not hatred. In which brought me to think, This isn't Stardusts simulation. I calmed down. My body still shook through my breaths.
"I'm ok. I just need to think." I said.
"I'll leave you to your thinking then."
"Thanks." Then I drifted off to sleep.
And Scootaloo, again, came into veiw.
o)O(o<
I awoke in pain again. Only this time emotionally, and physically. All night I dreamed of dead, lifeless faces. These faces were my friends and family, only with blood dripping down their faces. I silently cried to myself. I cried until I fell asleep again.
Gresk woke me up by shaking me. He told me that we had to eat breakfast and move to another location. We both sat across from each other from a large rock, eating berries and fruits that Gresk found. Gresk put my injured leg in a sling that was a bit too tight and huddled my leg to my chest. Though it helped.
"Why did you save me?" I asked.
"I-" Gresk sort of shuddered at the question, but he did answer it. "When I looked you in the eyes, I saw more than blue fur and flesh. I saw life. A life beyond this scenario, a life with other people in it that you care for, a life that makes you happy. A life you deserve to live in."
I thought for a moment. This was exactly what I thought when I looked into Gresks eyes. I didn't see someone who was a killer, I saw someone who was a living being.
"Thanks for saving my life." I said, eating a berry.
"Your welcome."
We ate for about fifteen more minutes until we grabbed our supplies and went on our way. It was quiet for a while before I said something.
"What species are you?" I asked.
"I am an Elite from D-7." Gresk said, jumping over a fallen tree. "What is your race?"
"I am a pegasus."
"Of what dimension?"
"D-12"
"Ah. Equestria. Such a good and peaceful race. A shame they have been forced to fight here."
"Mhm. Where are we going?"
"Anywhere safe."
We walked for about thirty minutes over several terrain. Sometimes, Gresk had to help me over obstacles. I couldn't fly because I would be shot out of the sky. I learned I wasn't as fast as I thought at the cornucopia.
We eventually came to an open creek and stopped. The creek was not secluded at all. It was like the grass area with the cornucopia, only with rocks and water as well as grass. I looked up and closed my eyes. The sun felt good on my face. This was the first time I had ever felt luxurious since I came to D-13.
Then I opened my eyes back up and looked around. Gresk wasn't by my side anymore. I looked around and found him looking at the ground where the grass met the rocks.
"Gresk what are you doing?" I said.
"Come. I have found our new shelter."
I walked to his side and looked into the hole in the ground. It seemed like it had stairs that went down into a semi-blackness. I was only partly dark because me and Gresk were blocking most of the sunlight. Next to the hole there was a large rock that could cover the hole up, and keep our cave camoflauged.
Gresk held me up in his arms as he walked down the stairs. (By now I had guessed he was male.) I couldn't walk down the stairs with my hurt leg, it was too steep. Then he layed me down on the cold rock floor.
"You stay here." He said. "I will go get firewood."
He left me in the medium sized room alone as he went to go get wood. The room was much like the (Amazing!) pastry room on the train. Only rugged and empty. As he left he covered up some of the sunlight that peered into the cave. Wait, sunlight? That could only mean...
He forgot to close the rock.
I got up and moved into the darkness that was left where noone would see me. I tried to calm down and level my heartbeat. I layed my head down on the rock floor and tried to sleep. I thought of Scootaloo, and my other friends. But thats when I realized.
I'm in a simulation.
