Chapter 5: GLaDOS

I woke up to find Stardust and Be nowhere to be found. They weren't in the simulation room, nor was I in the simulation room. I was in a hospital bed, surrounded by other empty beds. The rest of the room was white.

I pulled myself from under the covers and moved to a nearby door. I moved through it into something that looked like a waiting room. It had several chairs and tables with magazines on them. I looked to my right when I closed the door behind me. I saw Be and Stardust sitting on chairs. They were both staring in my direction.

"Rainbow Dash!" Stardust said, running to me and hugging me.

I blushed at his action. The hug went into a silence as Stardust held me tighter.

"Umm..." I just slowly patted Stardust on the back. I wanted this to end. It felt too awkward, too personal.

Finally, to my relief, Be broke the silence. "You done?"

"What? Yes!" Stardust said, realizing the awkward situation we were in. He instantly detatched from me. He looked down at the floor to disguise his blushed face.

"Ok then! Now Rainbow, are you curious about what happened to you in the simulation room?"

"Um. Yes, very curious." I said, shaking off the awkwardness of Stardust's hug.

"Well, you see. Usually our simulation only goes on for about ten minutes. But somehow, you were able to stay in there for more than that. About two hours. Our guess was that either you were dead, or you were Divergent. Divergent means you can manipulate simulations, or even shut them down. That is not dangerous though."

"Ok... so I'm Divergent?"

"Yes. Most people are."

"So... is that a good thing? Or a bad thing?"

"Good thing."

After about twenty minutes of boring dialog, we left the room to go to dinner. Apparently, I had slept over lunch. On our walk to the room with the (Amazing!) pastries, I told Stardust and Be about what they didn't see in the simulation. Stardust was pretty shocked that I made friends with the thing that "killed" him.

When we got to the (Amazing!) pastry room, we were shocked to find a suprise guest.

"GLaDOS!" Be said in delight.

"Hello Be. How have your student's been." GLaDOS said in a somewhat robotic, female voice.

"Who's this?" Stardust asked. I was too focused on her yellow glowing eyes to ask first.

"What? You haven't introduced me? Well, as he said," GLaDOS said, looking over at Be, and back to us. "I am GLaDOS.

Or, in more detail, the arena designer and organizer. I make the arena for the games. Please, sit down and eat some cake."

Me and Stardust turned our attention to a black cake that sat on the table, and then at each other. A look of glee covered our faces. Then we leaped for the cake.

"WAIT NOOOOOOO!!!!" Be screamed at us, though Stardust and I ignored him and started feasting menacingly on cake.

We should have listened to his warning. We instanly stopped eating the cake. It tasted terrible. We both spat the remaining cake in our mouths onto the platter the cake was on. Our faces became green as a chunky fluid made its way up into our mouths.

"Bathroom's that way." Be said, pointing a hoof to his left.

Stardust and I immediately rushed into the bathrooms and threw up. It felt nice to throw up. It was like all my troubles went straight into the toilet. Though some day, they would just come back again, like food.

We could do nothing but walk slowly, pant, and feel relief as we walked back to the dining room.

When Stardust and I got back I said, "What the hay was in that.".

"Well there were lots of things," GLaDOS began. "Coco mix, baking soda, fish shaped grahm crackers, fish shaped cheese, fish shaped candles, and that's just the good stuff." GLaDOS smiled.

"Never make cake again." Stardust said.

"Oh, what? You don't like my cooking?" GLaDOS giggled a bit.

"No. We don't. What makes you think we like to eat candles?" I said.

"I tried to warn you." Be said, "Now how about we eat something that isn't made out of fish shaped things.".

Time went on and we ate. Thank Celestia that everything else wasn't made by GLaDOS. We talked about boring things.

Like how she got here on a moving train, and how she began to be (Haha... be) the arena designer, and why she's here. All that stuff.

I was sort of staring into space thinking about something that I forgot. Just trying to remember that one thing. What was that thing? Scootaloo, my house, Twilight, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity... Now I'm just making myself homesick. Oh what I would give to... No! Stop making yourself homesick! You can't cry at the table. Especially in front of these people. Especially in front of the stallion that'll be with you in the games.

What is that supposed to mean?

It means that you like him.

I don't like him.

So you hate him?

No. He's...

Well you should hate him. You'll have to not care when he kills you, or he dies.

I will care if he dies.

So you like him?

No! Just not like that... I'll care if anyone dies.

So you have a crush on everyone else?

No! Quit messing around.

I was messing around from the beginning. Wait... you didn't know I was joking? So you were being serious, and I'm your conscience, which means...

Oh my Celestia I bucking like...

"RAINBOW DASH!!!" GLaDOS yelled at me, breaking me out of my trance.

"Wha? Who? Where?" I said as I broke from my... arguement.

"Now, for the fourth time: What was it like inside the simulation?"

"It was... life like..."

"I watched your simulation. The being that you became friends with began to have a personality. That is unusually odd knowing that these simulated people do not have personalities. You must be very Divergent." GLaDOS acted like nothing happened. Or maybe I was just over reacting.

"What is Divergent?" I knew I was told this before, but I completely forgot the moment Be told me.

"Divergence is the ability to manipulate simulations. It is a title that we learned from a world we..." GLaDOS stopped talking for a few seconds and kept going. "We removed their dimesion from the games and found yours..."

GLaDOS stared down at the table and we all went into an awkward silence. I've started to think about calling this place the awkward train. There have been at least three awkward moments that we've gone silent in. So it makes sense.

Soon we all heard a ringing sound. It came from GLaDOS. She instantly brought her head up and said, "Escuse me.".

Then she walked to the corner of the room.

I over heard her saying something about someone escaping from a training facility with a bunch of gadgets, weapons, and armor. She sounded pretty mad about it too because everyone could hear her saying, "WHY DID YOU LET HIM GO!!! HOW DID HE GET OUT OF HERE!!! I WANT YOU TO GET THE BOTTOM OF THIS NOW!!!!". *BEEP*.

GLaDOS turned to us with a face of anger withdrawl and said, "Sorry, but I have to go.".

With a bright glow of yellow light, and "ooh's" and "aah's" from Stardust and I, GLaDOS was gone. She had left us with a half empty table of food in which I did not want to clean. (Yes, I'm a pessimist.) So I just said I was going to bed. Then for some reason that night, I had a dream that all my friends and I were cows, and we were being taken to a party by Griffons.

And then we got eaten..........
