Silver Wings

      It was a semi-warm day in ponyville there was a cool breeze it was a beautiful day and everyone was out.  Well not everyone to be exact, in the resident Golden Oaks library a special princess sat bored out of her mind.

  "Hmm what can I do today." Twilight thought aloud chewing lightly on the eraser of a number 2 pencil, Twilight was completely bored she already completed her newest task for the princess and called her friends to see if they wanted to have a picnic, but of course everyone was busy today.

          Rainbow Dash was due to make a rainstorm in Canterlot, Fluttershy had to tend a wounded squirrel, Applejack had to help Granny Smith make her famous zap apple jam, Pinkie Pie had to make a wedding cake for a new couple who got hitched a few days ago, and Rarity had to make just about a dozen dresses for Sapphire Shores' newest fashion line.

  Which left Twilight and Spike... Speaking of that purple dragon... Spike came running down from Twilight's room holding a  scroll up in his claw like hand "Twilight! Twilight, p-princess Cadence sent you a message." he said loudly  making Twilight jump up and uncontrollably making her wings pop open.

    "Sorry." he said sheepishly handing her the scroll, rolling her eyes Twilight unrolled the scroll and read it.

   Her eyes widened in incredulity, and immedietly she dropped the scroll and jumped up squealing like a school filly who just got her first kiss. Cocking his head to the side Spike crossed his arms and said "What are you so happy about?" Twilight only looked his way with a goofy smile plastered across her face. "My older cousin Silver Wing is coming to visit me today!"

   Twilight let out a dramatized gasp, "We haven't seen each other since we were little kids! Hmm... I wonder how he looks now?" Twilight said remembering her cousin,he was a silvery white pony with stunning night blue eyes and straight yet spiky light orange and fiery red mess of a mane, he also wasn't really the type to run around he mostly liked staying inside and playing on his Joy Boy but he was easily "persuaded" by his mother to come play with Twilight and Shining Armor all day. He also wasn't very strong either compared to Shining armor, he was the skinniest out of all of them actually.

    Shrugging Twilight thought aloud "Maybe he doesn't look any different.", that's when it popped into her head "wait that was a letter from princess Cadence so that means... picking up the scroll and reading it once more it made itself clear that either he was a royal guard or him and Cadence know each other since her and Shining are married

  Slapping her forehead with the palm of her hand she thought "man I need to catch up with life..."

Sighing Silver Wing stood up and stretched, he'd been training with the new recruits all day without a break, beads of sweat rolled down his tense face as he sat on one of the steel benches inside the training room which was adjacent to the showers.  No one was in there except for him at the moment, he rubbed one of his hands across his neck trying to unwind a bit, just then a crystal guard walked into the training room his face wore a solemn expression as he approached Silver Wing.

  Raising an eyebrow Silver picked up his grey canteen of water and took a refreshing drink, sighing in relief he snapped his fingers and said "Report lieutenant."  immediately the guard said " Princess Mia Mora Cadenza would like to speak to you in her personal quarters sir."

   Groaning inwardly Silver nodded and said "Thank you." the guard nodded and walked off as soon as he left Silver grunted and moaned, he was already tired and didn't want to deal with anymore crap from people but of course this was a princess so he couldn't simply deny her orders.

    Taking in a deep breath he decided not to take a shower just yet, grabbing his gold armor the crystal pony sheathed his blade and exited the room.

   It was a bit more lively in the halls many guards stoond post and other important ponies go on doing their business some zooming in and out of rooms others transporting important documents, Silver Wing didn't necessarily care about what they did as long as it didn't have to do with harming the princess.

    He walked until he reached Princess Cadence's personal quarters which was guarded by two broad looking guards.

Clearing his throat he said to them "I was summoned by the princess." smirking on of the guards says "Oh yes she was expecting you, come in."  without much force they open the door exposing the princess' bed chambers and other personals.

  Slowly he walked in, it was dead quiet except for the eerie creek of the door slamming close behind him.

  He looked around "Princess? you here?"  just then he heard a crash come from inside the princess' closet, instinctively he pulled out his sheathed sword, it glimmered in the dim lighting of the room.

Just then princess Cadence walked out from her closet wearing a distinctive smile he only saw her wear when Shining armor was around, " Don't worry its just me I was looking for something when you came in and Weapons down please I don't want you destroying anything in here." she said nearing Silver who as instructed sheathed his blade once more.

"So you called me?"

"Ah yes I did."

"Um well... is there a problem?"

   "..............."

Cadence paused before clearing her throat  "Erm... yes there is actually."

"And what would that be princess?" he asked raising an eyebrow as Cadence sat down at a large polished wooden desk in the corner of the room, writing something she signaled him to come to her obeying her commands he walked quietly to her.

   Clearing her throat she looked up at him with a coy smile before lacing her fingers together in a polite manner "Please call me cousin." She said, swallowing his spit Silver repeated "C-cousin?" "Yes its quiet alright since we are now cousins in law."

  "W-what is this all about?!" Silver Wing said trying his best not to yell but it was no use, Cadence only smiled at him as she got up and walked to him.

  "Well since I married Shining Armor he told me he, you, and Twilight were related to each other. Which in law makes me your cousin." She said bopping his nose lightly with her hand and looking him dead in the eye, Silver only straightened before saying in a slightly agitated voice "Is that all?" Cadence only laughed as if he just told her the funniest joke ever.

  "Ohhhh... no thats not all, he also told me that you

And Twilight haven't seen each other in years...

So I have decided to take you off for a week to visit her!"

Cadence said, right then and there Silver froze his eye twitching slightly.

    "Wait wha-" he said his eyes widening, "Your kidding... Your kidding right?" he said hoping she was messing with him, he still had to train the others and write a few reports on what he did on the field for the higher commands.

  she nodded killing the last piece of hope he had left, "Um well... none of my things are packed it would take a while just for that plus the train ride would be time consuming as well." he said trying to make an excuse which only got a light chuckle out of Princess Cadence.

   "Do not worry dearest cousin I have already got that prepared... Actually your ride should be ready by now."

   "Wha-"

  "No time to speak you must leave the palace at once!" Cadence said as she began to push Silver to the door, he barely had anytime to comprehend what was going on only that he was about to be shoved into a carriage and taken to Twilight.
