She looked tired. She had bags under her eyes and looked as if she had been up all night. But still those eyes the way they sparkled. Flash could barely breathe. "Um hi.." said the Princess. Flash suddenly snapped back into reality and realized the Princess was talking to him. "Your highness." said Flash sternly. "Oh please, call me Twilight." laughed Twilight. "Oh really?, oh I mean as you wish Princess er I mean Twilight." smiled Flash nervously. "How can I help you you?" smiled Twilight. "Right why am I in your room this late heh heh." said Flash nervously. "Well I heard a noise and all the guards were on the night shift and so ya I went to investigate and well the noise was coming from your room but I didn't know your room was up here because im new and well um are you ok?" "Oh im fine I was probably running around getting notebooks and pencils and I must have knocked down all the books with my hoof hitting the shelf or something and thats why they fell on me." blushed Twilight. Flash couldn't help but smile. When Twilight blushed she looked so cute. "Um of course, might I ask why your doing that at 2 am?" asked Flash. "THE STAR COLLISION OF COURSE!" burst Twilight. Twilight's face suddenly turned red. "Sorry I didn't mean to shout." blushed Twilight. "Its alright." smiled Flash. "Um well whats the Star Collision?" Twilight looked excited. "The Star Collision only happens every 100 years. The stars are all lined up when suddenly. A single shooting star streaks across the sky. The magic in that star empowers every pony who wishes on it one wish. The star grants each wish. Then that wish magically happens but can be broken if.......' Twilight's voice trailed off. "I still haven't read the rest of it yet." "Wow thats so neat." agreed Flash. "Well I think so, your the first pony ever to like when I talk about stars." blushed Twilight. "Stars are a beautiful thing, they're special and deserve to be talked about." said Flash looking deep into Twilight's purple eyes. "She probably has to get back to her book, you've been here to long." thought Flash. "I have to go Princess I..I mean Twilight." sputtered Flash. Not wanting go. "Ok." said Twilight looking suspicious. "Good night Twilight." smiled Flash. "Good night Flash." smiled Twilight, her eyes sparkling with beauty. Flash looked at Twilight expecting her too say guard or something but she said his name. "Um Twilight how do you know my name?" asked Flash curiously. "Oh um .......... I..I got to get to studying. BYE!" With that Twilight shut the door quickly. "That was weird." thought Flash. Flash was deep in his thoughts why would Twilight even be so friendly to him. She just probably was getting tired of him. Thats why she shut the door so quickly. After all he was just a guard pony and Twilight well she was a princess. She well shes..........an alicorn. Flash kept walking down the hallways, and heard Daft Pony playing in Princess Luna's room. Obviously still awake. Flash looked at the giant grand clock. It read 3 am. Flash moaned. He knew he would be tired in the morning if he didn't get to bed. Flash finally reached the hallway where the guard quarters were. Where all the guard ponies slept. He was making his way down the hallway when some guard ponies, some white unicorns came walking down the hallway. Flash recognized the first pony was Blade and the second one was Shine they were raised to be guards in their family tree. Like most the guard ponies. They were given the option of changing your appearance to match guard standards. But Flash didn't change because some job so, he looked different from most of the other guards. "Hey Flash, what are you doing out this late bro? Your shift starts this morning." questioned Blade. "I heard a noise." replied Flash "Oh does Flashy need his mommy." teased Shine. "Shut up Shine!" retorted Flash. "Oh ok then what was the noise?" spat Shine. Flash thought he wouldn't dare tell them it was Twilight. "It was nothing." Flash said looking down. "HA!! Your pathetic Flash." retorted Shine. "Thats enough." said Blade sternly. "Come on we got to start our shift or Celestia is going to kick are flanks." Then with that both of them walked down the hallway and turned the corner to go to their posts. Flash rolled his eyes and walked into the area and went the wooden door. With is cutie mark painted on the front. Flash walked in and looked around the room. It was the same as he left it with his red guitar and his amp. His room was blue with a large window that had a view of Twilight's bedroom up in the tower. Flash sighed and shut his window. Flash tried to fall asleep. But all he could think about was Twilight. What was this feeling. Everytime he thought of the purple mare he got tingles. Flash turned around and looked through his window and looked at the tower. "Goodnight, my dear alicorn." cooed Flash and shut his eyes. But up in the tower Twilight was pacing around her room. "That was way too close." thought Twilight. If Flash knew that human Flash liked human Twilight well.......... her things would be all weird. Maybe pony Flash didn't feel that way about Twilight. But Twilight thought she felt that say about him. As soon as Flash showed up she was a nervous. She was a nervous wreck inside. All she could think while he was there was why is he here? Suddenly there was a knock on the door of the tower. Twilight turned around and opened the door. Spike was standing there with a white box of donuts from Pony Joe's Donut shop. They were Spike's favorite. "Hey Twilight im back from the donut shop." said Spike Spike looked around. "What happened in here?" asked Spike looking at the mess of books and paper everywhere. Twilight laughed tiredly and smiled. "Oh just studying." laughed Twilight. "Oh course, just why the mess?" asked Spike. "Oh um well its about the Star Collision......." started Twilight. "BORING!' replied Spike and dove to his bed and pulled the covers over his head. "Goodnight Twilight." yawned Spike from under the blanket. Twilight rolled her eyes. She was used to Spike not wanting to listen to her reports. But Flash liked them. Twilight used a clean up spell and soon everything was cleaned up instantly the way Twilight wanted it. All she did was use her magic and pictured in her mind the way she wanted it to look. She went to the table in her room and opened up the donut box. They were all covered in gemstones. "Spike why are these donuts...." Twilight turned around and realized that Spike was already asleep under his blanket quietly snoring. Twilight giggled and put the donuts back on the table. Twilight got in bed and opened up a Daring Do book. But she couldn't read. All she could think of was Flash. Did he feel this feeling? Everytime she thought of him she would get this tingling feeling inside her. Memories of her as a human with Flash drifted into Twilight's mind. Twilight walked out onto her balcony. The purple dark sky wasn't so dark with the stars surrounding Luna's moon. It was like a large night light floating in the middle of the sky. Twilight looked around. She saw a part of the castle there was a window across from her balcony. Twilight gasped. A sleeping Flash Sentry was in that window. He looked exhausted. Twilight could only smile. Twilight yawned . She looked at the window and blew him a kiss. "Goodnight my dear pegasus." cooed Twilight. Then she got in bed and fell asleep. That night all Flash or Twilight could dream about was each other. How much they felt as if they were in love.

His dark blue walls last night had slowly faded back into their light hue of color. Flash yawned and suddenly all his mind could think about was Twilight. Then he remembered what had happened last night. Flash got out of bed and opened his window. The warm, cool air, slowly touched his cheeks. Then Flash slowly turned his head toward the balcony that was only was a few inches away from his window. The balcony that was outside Twilight's bedroom. Flash could only smile. Lucky him. Flash then remembered that Celestia wanted to talk to him. He couldn't be late. So Flash groomed his mane at the small dresser with the mirror over it and put on his armor. Flash walked down the long hallway until he reached the door of the throne room. Two guards stood outside the door. "What is your appointment here?" sternly asked a higher ranked guard. "Order from Princess Celestia, sir!" replied Flash Sentry with a strong voice The guards nodded and they slowly opened the doors to reveal a large white alicorn sitting on her throne. Flash gulped and walked in. "Your majesty." Flash said as he bowed. "Welcome Flash Sentry." Princess Celestia smiled. "I have heard many great things about you." "You have?" questioned Flash. "With all due respect your majesty, what have you heard?" asked Flash. "Yes, I have heard many things as the time you saved a foal from a changeling when the palace was under attack and the time a part of the castle was on fire and you saved 5 ponies and put the fire out and the time you chased down a pony who stole Granny Smith's purse and returned it too her. Shall I continue? questioned Celestia. "No your majesty." blushed Flash Sentry. "Im just doing my job." "Your doing it very well Flash. To inform you, you are one of my best guards. smiled Celestia. "Thank you your highness." smiled Flash. "As of that I am giving you a promotion." replied Celestia. "A promotion, really?" smiled Flash. "Yes, Flash Sentry, I think you are a very strong guard. I think that you are notable and a good friend. You are very strong and are willing to learn so I Princess Celestia am here to title you as Princess Twilight Sparkle's royal guard to protect her at all times. Flash could barley hear the last words. Princess Celestia wanted him out of all guards to protect Twilight. Him? Out of all the ponies in the castle it was Twilight? Princess Celestia could see the look on Flash's face. "Do not worry Flash Sentry. I know it is a big task. But I believe in you." Flash looked up at Celestia's determined face. "I won't let you down your majesty." said Flash determined. "Good, now you will stand next to Twilight's door. Follow her all the time for protection. You will have to spend a couple nights in her room. While our construction team makes your new room closer to hers." informed Celestia. " So what you need to do now is tell Princess Twilight then get your things." Flash gulped and nodded. "Good, we have no time to lose. You may go." said Celestia. "I will not let you down your highness." replied Flash with a salute. Then he walked out the room and down the hall. "I know." smiled Celestia.

She had only stayed at Canterlot Castle for a few days and knew in a month or so she would go back to Ponyville. Twilight looked around and then noticed a giant closet. She had not once this week gone in there.Maybe there was something in there for Twilight. Twilight slowly trotted over to the door.Then with a sudden turn of the handles a whole room full of dresses appeared. Twilight marveled at all the beautiful dresses and accessories. There was a note on the door. A princess should have a dress for everyday-----Princess Celestia. Twilight blushed. Well if Celestia said she could wear them it couldn't hurt to try on one. "Wow." marveled Twilight. She looked in the mirror. "I feel beautiful." blushed Twilight. It was a red and orange fire like dress that covered her wings. The seamstresses must have forgotten to add some wing holes to some dresses because she forgot that I have wings now. Twilight knew everyone at the Castle they watched her grow up at Celestia's palace. In her class of gifted unicorns. Twilight looked at herself in the mirror. She didn't normally dress up. But she felt like she deserved to pamper herself. It was nice to treat herself to things sometimes. Suddenly Twilight heard a knock on the door. It was probably Spike coming back from the donut shop. "He better not have got the jewel covered ones again." grunted Twilight. Twilight opened the door expecting to see Spike but instead at the door was Flash Sentry. Twilight gasped. "Flash I..I uh um." Twilight blushed looking down at her dress. Flash could only stare. Twilight looked simply stunning. Her beautiful hair so delicately place behind her fire like dress. Her sparkling eyes. "Princess Celestia has ordered me to come and protect you and be your personal guard and stay with you well at all times and protect you from danger." replied Flash. "What danger?" questioned Twilight. "Anypony might want to try to harm you." replied Flash. "Your royalty, they could kidnap you as a way to blackmail Princess Celestia or worse." "But I don't need protection, I am capable of taking care of myself." insisted Twilight. "Believe me Twilight, I am completely aware of that." smiled Flash. "But these are Celestia's orders. So I am here to help you with anything. I am completely here to assist you." "Ok I could use someone to do my dishes." laughed Twilight. "Very amusing." laughed Flash. "Ok, we probably need to get your stuff." smiled Twilight. "Oh, please Twilight let me get it by myself." insisted Flash. "But you weren't selfish, you let Spike help the ponies even if it meant disappointing Celesita." beamed Flash. "Oh it was nothing." blushed Twilight. "I see, would you like me to continue?" asked Flash. "Yes, please." smiled Twilight. "Very well." laughed Flash. "I grew up with my mom and dad in Canterlot. We lived a simple life. My dad was a guard. He trained to be the best of the best. He believed I should continue the family tree." continued Flash. "But is that what you wanted?" asked Twilight. "Well I wanted to be a musician, to play guitar and sing." replied Flash. "But my dad said that is nothing more than a silly dream." Flash looked down at the ground he looked weary. "You do?" questioned Flash. "Yeah, I got the album for my birthday." continued Twilight. "I would practice one song on it over and over. Its funny though I don't remember what its called." "I do." smiled Flash. "You do?" asked Twilight. "Was it called Vanilla Twilight?" asked Flash. "Thats it. How did you know?" laughed Twilight. "Lucky guess." smiled Flash. Flash knew that when Celestia said it would take a couple days for the construction team to be finished that meant like a week. But Flash didn't care they could take as long as they wanted as he smiled as he glanced at Twilight. "No." shouted Flash frustrated. Twilight turned around. "Thank you for taking me up here." smiled Twilight awkwardly. "No problem." grinned Flash. "Actually your the first pony I have ever taken up here." smiled Flash nervously. "I am?" blushed Twilight. "Well I know you love stars and I wanted to take you to the front row seats." smiled Flash. "Oh well thank you." said Twilight her face turning pink. "Your welcome." beamed Flash. Flash stared deep into Twilight's eyes. Her gaze in his. With all his might he wanted to kiss her but he just couldn't. "We better get going, its getting late." said Flash breaking the stares. They just smiled and stared into the night sky from the balcony. Flash thought for a moment. Then Twilight thought for a moment. All that has happened all the stares and the blushing. The smiles the laughing. This could only mean with one thing. Im in love with "Twilight." thought Flash. "Flash." thought Twilight. But thats only the beginning of the love between a Princess and her guard.

Flash was right next to her. Flash got up slowly careful not to disturb the sleeping princess. Flash took a golden blanket from Twilight's bed. Then pulled it around her sleeping body. Flash smiled Twilight looked so peaceful. We must have fell asleep on the balcony talking. Flash quickly stood guard making sure he followed his duty. Flash wondered did Twilight know? Probably not. But what if she did? Suddenly there was a quiet knock on the door. It was the royal mail stallion. "How may I help you." smiled Flash. "Delivery for Princess Twilight Sparkle." smiled the mail stallion. "Thank you. I'll deliver them right away." smiled Flash. Then shut the door. The mail stallion frowned. "Oh I almost forgot." smiled Flash as he handed the mail stallion a bit. The stallion smiled and trotted away happy to have some lunch money. Flash felt his eyes droop. Flash yearned for coffee but knew he couldn't leave this spot. A couple minutes passed. Flash jerked his head toward a yawning noise. Twilight looked to the balcony and realized Twilight was waking up. Flash smiled. Twilight slowly opened her eyes recalling last nights events. She looked around not getting up. "Good Morning, Flash." yawned Twilight. "Good Morning Twilight." smiled Flash "Funny Flash I don't remember having a blanket on the balcony with me last night." grinned Twilight. "You looked cold." blushed Flash. Not wanting to tell her about him falling asleep by her side last night. Twilight slowly got up stretching her wings. Then she trotted over to her makeup table and sat down on the coushiney chair. Then used her magic to make her comb brush through her hair. "So Flash, what are we both doing today?" giggled Twilight. Flash grinned. We. He liked the sound of that. "Oh of course." grinned Flash. "Well Twilight you have received two letters!" "Hmm. Ones probably from Spike in Ponyville. But I wonder what the other ones for?" questioned Twilight. Twilight opened the first letter. Dear Twilight, Thank you for all the seventeen letters you sent me making sure. I got on the train safely. Yes, I did.The ponies on the train sure thought it was funny. But yes im in Ponyville doing the book count, running the library, and taking care of Owlwishes as you asked. I have a question what do owls eat? I can't find a book in the library on owls so I borrowed one from Fluttershy. I miss you a lot Twilight!! Come home real some. Your #1 assistant, Spike Twilight smiled. But then blushed realizing she probably babied Spike a little. Twilight just couldn't help it. Twilight opened the second letter. Excpecting to see something from Celestia. But this wasn't Celestia's graceful cursive. This was scribbled out. Twilight began to read Dear Twilight, I usually don't write letters. But I wanted to tell you something really exciting Im visiting. By the time you get this I will be here. Surprise! Before Twilight could answer there was a knock on the door. Flash shrugged and Twilight walked to the door. Then Twilight slowly opened the door. There standing in front of the door was no other than............ "Twily." Shining Armor squealed.

But suddenly Twilight remembered Flash. Twilight knew her brother was overprotective. She remembered at her coronation when a prince was about to ask her dance when suddenly Shining gave him the scariest look and he ran away. Twilight didn't think much of it she didn't even feel like dancing anyway. But now Twilight didn't feel like seeing a fight go down. Even if Flash was just her guard. Shining Armor wouldn't give Flash two seconds to explain he already would have been punched in the face. "I was wondering if I could see your new room." smiled Shining. Twilight was panicked all she wanted to do right now was run. But she couldn't say no he would suspect something. Shining had interrogated tons of bad ponies. It was part of his job as a royal guard. So Twilight could do the only thing she could do. "Um sure." Twilight slowly opened the door and Shining walked in. Twilight closed her eyes and held her breath waiting to her the sound of punches. But to Twilight's surprise. All Shining said was "Wow Twilight you must really like it up her, its so nice." "Um thanks." gulped Twilight. "Well Twilight im going to get my stuff downstairs. He sounded disappointed. Twilight hated having to lie to her brother. But she couldn't go do something with her brother with Flash locked in the closet. Mean while in the closet...... Flash Sentry was confused. First of all why did Twilight lock him in a closet. Second of all why was Twilight acting so strange. What did she mean she'll explain later? Flash Sentry looked around the dark closet. It was large almost as large as Twilight room. Flash guessed Twilight hadn't wore these clothes to much. It was really dusty in here. Flash slowly walked up to the closet door it sounded like muffled voices. Flash wsas about to pound the door when suddenly ACHOO! "Twilight did you hear something?" questioned Shining. 'Nope, nothing at all! Bye!" Then she slammed the door. "I really got to stop slamming the door on people." thought Twilight. Twilight ran toward the closet and opened the door. So Twilight explained about how Shining Armor was an overprotective brother. "Oh um ok." blushed Flash. "Heh, ya sorry about locking you in the closet." responded Twilight. 'Its fine." smiled Flash. "When I was staying at the Crystal Empire I went to an alternate universe were everypony had a person just like them like an alternate them and I met your alternate you. "I just thought maybe I could just bring Owlishes here! You know until you come back to Ponyville." "Oh how wonderful!" exclaimed Twilight. But then suddenly he noticed a yellow pegasus guard standing in the middle of her room staring at them "Um Twilight what is Flash Sentry doing in the middle of your room?" questioned Spike. Twilight whipped around suddenly remembering Spike didn't know why Flash was here. "Oh you see.." Twilight blushed. " He is kind of my personal guard now." Spike stared at Twilight then Flash and then he burst out laughing on the floor. "How ironic." laughed Spike making Flash and Twilight turn a shade of pink. Spike smiled and stood back up. He heard a noise the same noise that he heard when he woke up. " Wh-wh-wha-what is that?" Flash Sentry moaned. There it was again. Flash looked out his window and saw a long tower not far from his window. The lights were on and whoever was in there was making a racket. Flash sat up put on his armor and grabbed his sword. Flash quietly closed his door and walked up the stairs to the long corridor of the castle. It felt like a maze in this Castle ever since he got transported from the Crystal Empire a day ago. Princess Celestia wanted to talk to him about something important. He wondered what it was. He hoped he wasn't in trouble. He was now in the West wing. He walked past several doors, leading to anything you wanted. It was like a whole town in Canterlot Castle. A movie theater, a restaurant, a salon, even a indoor pool. As Flash Sentry passed all the doors he noticed even bigger door with Princess Luna's cutie mark painted on it. He could hear the tv going, Princess Luna was probably watching tv. She was always up at night. Flash kept walking. There that noise was again. Flash walked slowly down the hallway. He didn't run because he was tired and it was 2 am. Plus he didn't want to disturb the sleeping castle. Well except for Luna. He passed all the rooms. The noise got louder and louder. All the guards had the outside shift. They would be coming back soon. But Flash needed to stop this noise now. Whatever it was it could be a threat. Soon enough Flash was at the entry of the staircase. He would have flied up but whoever was in the room might hear him and that would be a threat if that pony was dangerous. Finally Flash reached the top stairs there was a wooden door. No label or anything. There the noise was a huge crash. Flash couldn't take his curiosity anymore. Flash reached for the door.One hoof on the door knob and other hoof on his sword in his belt. He swung the door open. It was a large room, as large as Celestia's and Luna's rooms. There were papers everywhere. The balcony had a chart with a telescope. Notebooks sprawled across the floor. But to top it all of there was a huge mountain of books in the center of the room. Suddenly the books started to move Quickly frightened by this Flash Sentry pulled out his sword. "Holt, who goes there?" Flash asked sternly. "Ughhhh." moaned the mysterious pony. Then suddenly a purple alicorn peeked out of the books with a crooked crown. Suddenly a memory hit Flash "Twi-Tw-Twi-Twilight?"
