There are many uses for legends......

Some can be used for great inspiration, giving people a reason to fight on even in the bleakest of moments......

Some are used as lessons, revealing mistakes of the past so that they are not repeated in the future......

But the darkest legends are the ones used to hide something, meant to bury dark truths and sometimes...even darker beings......

The legend of The Mare In The Moon was one such legend, used to make ponies forget about the terrifying creature that was Nightmare Moon, and thus rid her of her power over ponies. But there is another legend, one meant to hide the most terrifying secret of all...the truth behind the great Faust's corruption...and her supposed death......

This was the original intended plot line for Ye Cruel Gods before I decided to go with its current incarnation. So rather then leave this story untold, I have decided post this here as well, it will only contain three to maybe five chapters depending.

This story will contain many dark and bloody scenes, depicting many of the characters being horribly beaten and bloodied through the course of later chapters. Also the Tragedy tag is there for a reason, so be prepared for some of the mentioned characters to die, as to who they will be I will not say.
