Luke- Breakfast at Twilight
Previous ChapterLuke sighed, flailing himself across the bed. “How… How did this happen?” he quietly asks himself, looking down at his front hooves. “Plus, if I’m here, does that mean this ‘Luna’ is in my body? If so…” He stops himself there, not wanting to think of how ruined his life would be if he was able to return.
His mope session was then interrupted by a very familiar feeling: hunger. His stomach growls and Luke slowly begins to get up out of bed. Okay… I’ll just get some food, and bring it back here. No problem, right? He thinks, approaching the door slowly.
As he stepped closer to the door to an unknown world, he noticed something sitting on a shelf: A crown. “Might as well, to avoid some attention,” He thinks, reaching out with a hoof. Forgetting he no longer had fingers or thumbs, he simply pushes the crown back on the dresser. “Oh… right.” He remembers glumly. He eventually gets the crown on after a good ten minutes of trying, using both of his front hooves. Luke then turns back to the door, and pushes it open.
The room Luke was in all morning was rather large, but the room he then found himself standing in was even more tremendous. Luke gulps, and exits the room cautiously, and reaches the center of the room. Taking his time, he looks around the room he was in and notices three things of interest. The first of which was above the door he just exited, a large moon was hung, looking identical to the tattoo he found on his ass. The second was a similarly large door with a sun hung over it. It struck Luke as odd, as there were two doors of equal size, but he was the princess. Luke assumed there was simply another princess, and continued off to the third item of interest: The hallway out.
Luke trotted as normally as he could, not wanting to draw much attention to himself. The guards posted every so often didn’t seem to notice anything out of the ordinary, and Luke was able to pass by them. After a while of quiet walking, other gargantuan then sat in front of him, and Luke sighed, looking at two guards speaking to each other. Luke grinned to himself, and made another realization: he’s their princess. “Um, can you two open this door for me? Pretty please?” he asked in the most adorable way he could bear.
Quickly stammering to attention, the two guards quickly shouted, “Y-yes ma’am!” before rushing to hold open the door for Luke.
“Thank you, but I have one more favor to ask: Can you escort me to food? I’m starving!” He asks bluntly, rubbing his stomach.
The two guards look at each other, noticing Luke’s change in tone. Luke’s eyes widen, realizing he made a mistake. One of guards nods and returns to their post, as quickly trots ahead of Luna. “Please, follow me, Princess,” He says, looking back at Luke.
After breathing a sigh of relief, Luke silently begins to follow the guard through a seemingly endless maze of corridors. Suddenly, the guard stops, and gestures to a door. “I shall have the chef prepare your favorite meal and bring it in here. You can just sit in your sister’s throne, if that would better suit you, Princess,” the stallion says quietly, before trotting quickly away.
Luke nods at the moving horse, and extends his right hoof to open the door. Beyond the door, Luke was astounded by what he saw. Stained glass windows outlined the room, beautifully made in every way. Luke pays close attention to each and every window, but stops when he noticed one in particular. The picture depicted what appeared to be two horses, one of which was this Luna, and a white one with wings and a horn as well, flying in counter clockwise motion around some creature he had never seen before. It looked as if it was made of multiple different animals, as if it couldn’t make up what it wanted to be. Luke stared at this glass, trying to figure it out with no luck.
Luke drudgingly continued, looking at all of the glass, and reached the throne. He sits down like how he assumed a magical talking horse would, and waited for his food. After a few minutes of waiting, he remembers an important detail: he’s getting the Princess’s favorite meal prepared by a royal chef. Luke begins to imagine the different kinds of wonderful things that could be brought out to him, and he even catches himself drooling at the thought of how good it will taste.
At long last, the guard rushes in to the room, carrying a place between his teeth. He stops in front of Luke, setting the plate down right in front of him. “Please, enjoy your meal, Princess,” the guard bows, rushing out of the throne room again.
Luke ignores the words, and looks down at the plate, licking his lips. With what little culinary knowledge he had, it looked like a crêpe his mom would get when they went to fancy restaurants for breakfast. Luke contemplates how to eat without silverware or fingers, and the only way he could, would be like an animal. Rolling his eyes at the irony, Luke leans down and begins to manipulate the crêpe with his mouth, eventually getting enough leverage with it to take a bite. The starving Luke bites down on the baked good, and his eyes shoot open in shock; it was the best thing he had ever tasted. However, he couldn’t quite figure out what was in the crêpe, he loved it regardless.
As he leans in to take another bite, Luke catches a glimpse of the inside. Luke really was curious as to its main ingredient, and adjusts himself properly to see its inside. Inside, Luke sees a small collection of daffodils and daises. Luke gulps, as he closes his eyes to finish his meal. Slightly disgusted with himself for eating that, Luke decides the best thing for him to do at this point is to simply go back to his room and think things out.
Leaving his plate where it was set, Luke stands up, and trots over to the door. He stops right in front of the exit out of the throne room, wanting to take a deep breath before he left. He looks back at the throne room, feeling a hint of sadness for the girl whose life he unintentionally stole, before looking back at the door. He takes a step, before noticing a fast clopping noise coming from the hallway. The door glows a purple aura, and swings open. Luke hadn’t even had a chance to even touch it, and in ran a purple horse, right into Luke. Both Luke and the other horse were knocked down in the crash, but the purple one got up quicker and rushed to Luke’s side. “Luna! Are you alright?” She cried, extending a hoof out to Luke.
“Y-yeah, I think so,” Luke says, reaching out to other mare’s hoof.
The purple horse helps Luke up, before more apologies than Luke could count. Luke looks closely at the mare, and notices a few important details. She had both wings and a horn as well, and was on the stained glass earlier in the room. “Who are you?” he mutters, staring at the other horse. She narrows her eyes, taking a closer look at Luke.
“Actually…” the purple one said, examining Luke completely. “I think the better question is who are you?”
Luke’s eyes widen in fear, as the purple horse had apparently figured him out already. Her horn begins to glow, and a beam shoots out at Luke. Luke braces himself to be killed by a horse that can shoot lasers, and feels the beam make contact. However, Luke felt no pain. He quickly examines himself, and realizes that nothing had even happened to him.
As confused as Luke looked, the other horse in the room looked even more confused. “Well, if you aren’t a changeling, you must be the real Luna…” She said, eyeing Luke carefully.
“Wait… You’re right.” Luke whispers, feeling a bit of guilt. “Please, follow me back to my room. I will explain, and maybe you can help me.” Luke exits the throne room, with the purple one just as confused as could be.
“So… let me get this straight: You’re from a world where creatures stand on two legs, have appendages on their hooves, and no real magic, and you just woke up here in Luna’s body without any explanation?” Twilight said, looking at Luke carefully.
“Yes, you would be correct… I know you probably don’t believe me though, so do what you want,” Luke said, watching Twilight Sparkle trot back in forth throughout the room.
“Actually, you’re wrong. I do believe you,” Twilight declares, halting in front of Luke. “After all, I’m fairly certain I’ve been to your world for a visit before.”
Luke’s eyes glow in excitement, extremely pleased to hear her trust his story. “So, you can help me, right? No problems?”
“I can try, but I can’t guarantee anything. It’s not like I can hop between the worlds whenever I choose, or just use a spell to fix all of this. I’d need to figure out what exactly happened, which could take some time, and then find the right way to fix it, which could take just as long,” Twilight says, looking sadly at Luke. “However, what I can do right now is help you out here. There’s plenty you’ll want to know, like magic, flying or the mo-“ Twilight stops herself there, and immediately begins to freak out.
“Nonono! Oh, how are we going to get you to raise the moon?” Twilight says, looking at Luke again with a very concerned expression.
“What do you mean by ‘raise the moon’?” Luke asks, not quite sure if Twilight was talking about the actual moon.
“You are Princess Luna, and your sister is Princess Celestia,” Twilight begins to explain. “You both have an important job BESIDES running Equestria. Celestia raises the sun in the morning, and you are supposed to raise the moon at night. Normally, I would say I could help you do this, but I’m not strong enough. My magic isn’t as powerful as Luna or Celestia’s… “
“Raise the MOON? How can I possibly do that? Can’t we see if Celestia can just do it for me while we try to get things settled?” Luke asks, not understanding why exactly why he needs to raise the moon.
“Because you can’t let Celestia know about this. There is a spell that can restore memories in the case of amnesia, and she probably would use that on you by now if you ran into her instead of me. This spell would more than likely wipe all of your memories out of existence, and replace them with your body’s native memories that are being suppressed while you inhabit it,” Twilight says, with a very stern expression. “That spell would effectively replace you with a copy of Luna, and you would be gone forever.”
