My Sister's Life

First Day With The Crusaders

Previous Chapter

I'm walking Dallas to school the next day and all of the sudden something purple and orange blows passed me and nearly knocks me off my hooves. Then it stops right in the middle of our path. There stood a young pegasus with a short purple mane and pale orange coat. The filly had a blank flank so I assumed she was one of Dally's crusader friends. "Hey, Dallas! What's up?" She chirped happily "Oh hey, Scootaloo!" Dallas smiled then shot a glance at me "Not much. Just walking to school." She continued. I took advantage of the pause and cleared my voice, "With her big brother!" I ruffled her neatly braided hair. Scootaloo glanced from me to Dallas then back to me. "I'm Scootaloo," She gave me a closed-eyed smile. I smiled back, "Cloud Dancer!" I stuck out my hoof and she shook it. Then Dallas began to talk about something random and they trotted ahead of me.

We arrived at her school. Right before Dal walked through the gate I called out to her, "Hey Dal! Come give old Cloudy a hug!" Dal turned to look at me while Scootaloo laughing. She glared at me. It was like she was trying to burn a hole through my head. But she trotted over none-the-less! I pulled her in for a big one and she hugged back. I could feel her smile on my grey neck. Then from behind me I heard a loud "Aw!" and somepony proceeded to join the hug. It was like they were trying to squeeze our heads off. I opened one eye then yelled, "PINKIE PIE! GET OFF!" but before she could move a muscle we were tackled by a yellow pegasus that has a curly pink and orange mane. "SUNSHINE!" I yelled angrily at one of my best friends. The two party ponies start giggling as they slowly crushed us. "I can't, BREATHE!!!" Dallas yelled, but it was more of a whisper because she was being crushed by 3 full grown ponies. "You're gonna kill Dallas!" I yelled. That got them moving! "Dear Celestia! Can't I hug my sister in peace!" By now it seemed like Scootaloo was going to die, of laughter. My sister was blushing as bad as her friend was laughing. "Sorry, Cloudy! Hugging is just so fun!" The pink pony cheered. "Yeah! We just couldn't resist!" Sunshine agreed. "Okay, okay. Have a fun day at school, kiddo!" I ruffled Dal's hair once more and she ran off to her friends who were now gathered round a laughing Scootaloo. "What's so funny?" A pale yellow filly with red mane inquired. She had a southern accent that reminded me that I needed to stop by AppleJack's  place and pick up apples.

It was getting late and I was starting to get worried about Dallas. "Hey, Sweetie Pie?" I looked over to the green pony. "Hmm?" She looked up from her book. Her dark purple mane she had so carefully tucked behind her ear fell back into her face. Before I could say anything more Dallas came through the door, laughing, with Scootaloo. I rush over to her, "Dallas! Where were you?" She looked at me confused, then back outside, then back at me with a guilty expression on her face. "Oh, sorry. I guess I lost track of time. Are you mad?" She looked at me with big orange eyes and a pout. I let go of the air I hadn't realized I was holding. Then I smiled "Don't pout. A bird will come and poo on you!" She looked at me relieved. She smiled widely, "Next time I'll tell you when I'm going to do some crusading! Anyway, can Scootaloo stay the night?" I grinned, "Sure, Kiddo! Just don't get into any trouble. Oh! and Lightspeed and Sunshine are coming over later." Dal and her little friend were jumping up and down. Then all of the sudden Dal stopped, "Wait, Light's coming over?!" She began to jump again. "Yep!" I smiled. Scootaloo looked very confused, "Who's Lightspeed?" "She's just the second best flier in all of Equestria and the coolest foalsitter EVER!!!" Dal cheered. I laughed as she excitedly told Scootaloo all about Speed. Before they went to her room, Dallas passed me the notebook.

Yo, Cloud! That was the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me. Scootaloo was laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world. When I told Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom what happened they didn't get it. Then Scoot said, "You had to be there." Now I'm in that carrot class. She's telling us about how to grow carrots. BORING!!!

RECESS!!! Me and the fillies are gonna try skateboarding after school! Don't worry, we'll wear helmets! You wanna know something awesome? The Rainbow Dash is taking Scootaloo under her wing and teaching her everything she knows! If only I had wings! Or a horn. If I had a horn you could teach me how to fly! There's no way for boring old earth ponies to fly. Unless your like Pinkie Pie. Well I'm gonna quit writing and hang with my friends.

Okay so we just tried skateboarding and unfortunately none of us got our cutie marks, but it was really really fun! Scootaloo just asked to come over and I said yeah because you're awesome and I know you'll say yes. Okay we're heading home. See yah!

I laughed when I turned the page. There were a bunch of hearts. Then I heard muffled bickering. I opened the door and found Lightspeed and Sunshine arguing about whether it's better to be cool or funny. Lightspeed had her usually spiky yellow and black mane pulled back into a tight ballet bun. I assume she had just been practicing her flying routine. More evidence of that was that her white coat had dirt all over it. Not even acknowledging me they walked in. I smiled, "I'm gonna go tuck Dallas in." Lightspeed stopped and looked over at me, "Tell her I say goodnight!" To Light, Dal is like her little sister. I think it's cute that the tough mare has a soft spot. I node and trot up stairs.

I knock on the door and hear no response. I push open the door and find the two curled up together. Aw, so cute! I walk over to my younger sister and push back her bangs. I kiss her on the forehead and whisper, "Lightspeed says goodnight." Before I leave I hear Dallas whisper back, "Goodnight," I chuckle and flick off the light. Then close the door with magic.
