Positively Pink
Dawn
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI walked over to the couch that my parents were at, “OK, well this is a bit hard for me to say so soon,” I paused to think on how I would approach this, “I need to go to New York,” I looked at them for an answer. They gave me crazy looks, dad was the first to actually speak up though.
“What?” it sounded like he was mad. I couldn't wonder what for, I only asked to go across the country on an already stressful day.
“Well, the solution to this problem seems to involve me being in New York,” I looked at my feet nervously. He seemed to cool down a bit at hearing this, but I wasn’t in the clear yet.
“Well we can’t get you there,” he said, he sounded pretty mad still, but I think he might just be thinking I’m asking for a free trip to New York.
“Yeah, I figured. So I have a ride, I just had to tell you that I was going so it wasn’t like I was running away…” I replied in a hushed tone, I looked up to see his eyes searching me. He didn’t seem angry anymore. I was a bit relieved at this, I was pretty sure it meant I could go.
“Your minds made up?” I nodded slowly, “well then I guess I can’t persuade you otherwise. When are you heading out?” he was calmed down now, I didn’t exactly know why he was mad in the first place. I had an idea what it was, but I have no intentions of asking.
“That depends on when my ride gets here, but it will be about two or three days,” I looked at my mom, she seemed more than a little distraught. “I won’t be gone long, and I’ll come back perfectly fine,” I assured her, though I could tell she wasn’t very convinced. Despite this she nodded her head in understanding and walked over to me, she embraced me in a hug. The hug was tight like a boa, but it was still comforting to know she was holding me safely. She pulled me away from her and looked over my new body, she addressed the one topic I had wanted to avoid.
“You’re a girl,” this put her in good spirits as I grimaced at this fact.
“Yes, it’s hilarious,” I stopped grimacing and looked myself over, “But, honestly? It’s not so bad,” I walked over to the computer, upon sitting down in the chair I saw that I had a message. It was from one of my (very) Brony friends, this was going to be interesting.
“Hey bro. you hear that news about people turning into ponies, it’s crazy!” of course he would talk to me first, I was the only Brony he knew.
“Hey to you too! I have heard, you could say I’m pretty close to one of them. It makes things a lot harder, I’ll tell you that! Anyhow… how are you? What’cha doing?” I sent out my message, it took longer than it should have on account of hooves.
“Dude, I’m fine. But enough of that, you know someone?!” he was obviously stoked about this. He sent out a second message right after correcting his first “Somepony*”
“You could say that,” I replied, I didn’t want to lie to him. He deserved the truth, but I don't know if I want him to know right now.
“Do I know them?” I bit my lip at this, I figured he was going to find out eventually. There really was no point in lying. Besides, he might be able to help or something.
“Look, it’s hard typing with hooves. Can you just call me?” I sent out the message and went into the kitchen. My phone was on the counter charging, good thing to because I did not want to go back upstairs.
I grabbed the phone in my mouth and it buzzed, I carried it into the bathroom and dropped it. I accepted the call and hit speaker mode, I heard my friend on the other end.
“Hey Anthony! What’s up?” I paused for a second and finally spoke up.
“Hello!” I said in a cheery tone.
“Oh, can I speak to Anthony?” he obviously hadn’t figured it out yet.
“You are speaking to me, silly! How’s it hanging?” he took a while to reply he processed what he just heard.
“Anthony? What happened to your voice?” he did sound astonished and a little skeptical. I think I would too if I heard my friend sounding like a girl.
“More like what happened to my body! I get to go on an awesome adventure to find out! Well, we may not find out. But we will fix it!” I waited for him to think it out.
“You’re a pony,” he deadpanned
“Pinkie Pie to be exact.” I regretted it as soon as I said it, but I should try and play it off cool. I mean, it's not like it's a horrible pony to be right?
“You're... you're Pinkie Pie?!” I could hear him breaking out into laughter over the phone.
“Yepperooni!” I slammed a hoof over my mouth before I could do anything too embarrassing. I hadn't meant for it to sound that happy.
“And you're okay with that?” he finally asked, there was a tone of surprise in his voice.
“Yes! I mean, no! I don't know! I mean, it's not a terrible outcome. But it's not like I asked for this. But maybe I have cool Pinkie powers, so I guess yes I am okay with it?” I was pretty sure that was right, it didn't sound too convincing though. It sounded kind of like an existential crisis, maybe it is. In any case, he bought the answer.
“OK, so you're Pinkie. What now?” it was a fair question.
“I gotta get to New York, and I have a ride on the way.” might as well tell him my plan of action.
“So... when are you leaving?” the way he asked that gave me reason to believe he was more than a little interested in my plan.
“A couple of day's, why?” I asked.
“Well, thing is... thing is...” he seemed to be stumbling for words. I waited for him to find what he wanted to say, “Can I come?” he gasped after he said it. I saw no reason not to let him come, but was it a good idea to let him? I thought back to my earlier thoughts, he might be able to help or something.
“I, guess so... but you have to drive yourself,” I spoke with finality. I could literally hear him gasping in excitement. I knew he had a car, but it was hardly big enough for more than one or two people. Of course it could carry some supplies, “Oh and bring all your camping stuff. Bring some food, blankets and pillows too. Bring anything you think would be useful,” I wasn't going to drive with him, but he could at least be useful. The more people who can bring things, the more things there will be. Also extra car space would probably help a lot, for carrying items that is.
“OK, I'll be ready. Be sure to tell me when you plan on leaving,” well there is one more person to tag along on our journey. Strength in numbers and what not.
“I will,” I replied, I was about to say bye when he threw me for a loop.
“So, you ready for school tomorrow?” I froze at those words. I can't believe I forgot today was Sunday, we had school tomorrow. How could I forget school?
