Silent Monster
~Prologue~
Load Full StoryNext Chapter~She kept running, running away from the monster. The crypt was bathed in a red light, its origin unknown. But she did not have time to study the phenomenon, she had to escape. Forward, up, left, right, left, forward, right, forward. It was a maze, and she was lost. She hit a dead end, and looked behind her. Her heart froze. The monster was there. It advanced slowly, knowing full well she had no escape. She pressed herself against the wall, tears pouring down her face. She didn't want to die alone, to die cold, to die with regrets. She wanted to see her parent's smiling faces again, to smell the fresh mountain air again, to feel the soft green grass again, to taste her mother's homemade cookies again, to hear her family's voices one last time. She knew she would die, there was no escape. The monster was close enough to touch now. It was looking right at her, piecing her soul with its glowing draconic blood red eyes.
"Please..." She pleaded, knowing that it would not save her. The monster shook its head, and hissed. She suddenly noticed a small side path, and there was sunlight at the end. Her heart leapt with hope. She could escape. She waited a single second longer, then sprang towards freedom. The monster did not give chance immediately, perhaps surprised his prey still had life in it. She looked behind her, and gulped. The monster was giving chase. She pushed herself to run faster, to escape into the sunlight. She could see outside now, she could see the chopper, the pilot inside, and a soldier standing by the door, holding it open for her. She cried out in happiness, she had done it! She had escaped! Then something jumped on her, and everything vanished, returning to the red glowing stone of the crypt. It had all been an illusion. The monster had caught her, pinning her to the floor. She felt its hot breath on her neck, and she let herself go limp. She gave up, it was pointless. She was going to die in room of lies. She started to cry, tears pouring down her face. The monster's long forked tongue licked her neck, making her cringe and whimper. The monster's tongue snaked its way up to her face, licking her tears away. The monster leaned down to her ear, and its tongue brushed against it, making her cringe and squirm.
"Your body is mine now..." The monster whispered into her ear seductively. Her eyes widened as the monster hissed, then lunged forward and bit into her neck, its long fangs piecing her flesh and windpipe. With the little air she had left, she cried out in pain, but it was over. She would die.~
