Making a Living

Knock ,knock, knock...

"Nightshade?  Hello are you down there?"  I slowly opened my eye'sand got out of my bed to walk up to the door and see who it was.  I looked through a window I made so I could see if some'ling was pretending to be some'ling else and get me.  However that wasn't the case for I clearly saw Bliss standing on the other side of the door with a concerned look.  Yet I saw Berry and Sapphire going back and forth with things and such but they all where smiles and rainbows and shit.  I let out a large sigh and spoke in a very low tone.

"What do you want from me now Bliss?  Do you want to take my things from down here too?"

"N-no Nightshade that's not it at all.  I'm worried about you..."

"Why would any'ling give a shit about me.  I'm not worth their problems and both of you know that for you have had to live with me ... and now you are leaving me ... Your repeating a cycle that I know all to well Bliss just take the rest of your shit and leave.  I'm not your problem anymore..."  I then walked back down to my bed and thought of what had all been part of this cycle,

"My family left me, my mother abandoned me, who I had grown to think was my true mother threw me out a window when I couldn't yet fly very well, every female I have ever liked has left me.  I left her and she came back to do the same ... now Bliss and Berry are continuing my pain and leaving too..."  Pain started to swell up in my chest and my eye's started to water.  I soon found myself whimpering as well and clentching a pillow close to me so it felt as if some'ling was there ... some'ling that I didn't drive away from me, some'ling who loved me for who I was and could understand me.  Some'ling I ... I need some air...

I got up from my bed and went to my closet that held hundreds of black cloaks as well as black masks that could cover my whole head and put them on.  I then grabbed my dagger and noticed my armor and weapons still covered in dry blood and remembered that I was out of the cleaning mix I used and went over to my trunk in the far corner and opened it.  It was full to the top with bits for the bank said that I couldn't have over million bits in my account and so I had to put the rest in here.  I grabbed forty bits in case I saw something that caught my eye and put them in a pocket near my blade.  When I got to the door again Bliss was in the living room and crying while Berry was talking to her.  I couldn't hear what she was saying but it didn't really matter for I was most likely never going to be able to speak to them again for they now hate me...  I went through the door and relocked everything I could from that side and slipped out the front door before they could say anything to me however they ran after me for some reason.  I stopped and turned to see Berry in time for her to slap me.

"What did you do to my sister you ... you freak! Oh I have been waiting to be able to say that to you for so long I thought that would be able to do it but I did!  I've never trusted you for you are a monstrous freak and your kind has attack Canterlot!  You may not remember this but I was there why they invaded and do you know how many of them rapped me before they where sent flying?!?!?!  Twenty two of them!  But now you have done something to my sister and you are going to tell me what you did!  What did you do to her!  Did you touch her?  If you did I will kill you and I will kill you again if you hurt her!!!"  I didn't move or do anything and she couldn't for the cloak and mask and she even shuddered because of it.  I looked at her for a long time before turning and walking away trying my best not to show how hurt I was by her comment.  On the outside I looked like a shell but inside I was crying from her words.  It took me a while to collect myself and then headed for the market and looked for what I needed.

"Um ... C-can I h-help you sir?...

"Yes I would like three of these."  He looked down at what I had gotten and gulped.

"A-are you sure that y-you want those sir they a-are quite s-spicy..."

"Yes I know but it is the chemical compound that I need so that I may use it to clean my ar-things..."

"O-ok um three bottles of pure r-rainbow's then i-is that all s-sir?"

"Yes."

"Thirteen pits please..."  I reached in my cloak to grab the money and the stallion behind the counter turned white and let out a large breath when he only saw the bit's.  I then walked to the next counter and bought a saddle bag for twenty to hold my stuff as I went through the market.  However this did not help the amount of weird stares I got and well though expected they also moved out of my way.

I let out a large sigh as I finally put back on my chest plate for I had grown a costume to having it.  I then also did the same for my hoof blade sliding it back on and letting it reconnect itself to me which caused me some pain.

"God's maybe that could be the slap in the face I need damn what is happening to me?  These pony's must have made me sick off of their kindness and friendship.  Acquaintances are far better than friends ... speaking of which I should ... why am I talking to myself again?"  I then got all of my gear and put my cloak back on and did the same with the mask before heading outside.  It was still cold and the weather teams where still trying to battle back the winter storm the rolled in the night before.  You could see them going from cloud to cloud moving and recreating manly destroying though.  Smack...

"Damn it what did I say about hitting my wall's!?!?!?!?!?"

"Not to hit your walls and pay more attention or I will have to pay you for all of the damage that I cause yet I haven't caused any damage up to this point and am still going on for a solid record."   He stood there looking at me both shocked for how I looked and for the fact that I had gotten it right this time around.  He then just walked away and I entered the bar and took a seat in the far back of the room drawing a lot of eye's in my direction I decided to fuck with them so I took out my dagger and started to play with it.  They all turned away and pushed their chairs away as well.  I laughed at this but three others then joined me at the table and from there being no smell.

"You shouldn't do stuff like that Nightshade it cou-"

"Oh shut up I've had a shity day and I really don't want to have to hear more shit than I have to."  A female then spoke which I figured was Blood Crest.

"Nightshade this is serious we have heard some rummer's that Chrysalis is going to try and come after you and she wasn't happy with the bounty hunters coming back without you and short one as well.  You need to hide she has a whole army."

"She can have all she wants and send as many as she wants too.  They will all just die for I have a hideout that no'ling knows of it.  I can protect myself well you know."

"Ok congratulations you have a hole in the ground where you can wait to die in."

"Fine then make me seem like an idiot..."  Another female voice spoke catching me off guard for I was looking at Blood Crest.

"We never considered you an idiot but we don't think that you should just be sitting around and waiting for it to happen.  We think you should attack first and catch her off guard and we would like to help you with it."  I looked at her dumbly yet the mask made me emotionless.

"Who are you again?"  She pulled her head back a minuet and then smiled bringing her hoof to true form letting her sent escape her disguise.  In which I remembered all to well and moved away a little bit.

"Hmm now you remember me don't you Nightshade?"  I kept my muzzle shut so not to say something stupid.

"Oh come now Nightshade it is not all that bad I realized a lot of different things when I got back.  Most of what you said to me I questioned my mate he got mad at me and said the I should just leave and not come back or something along those lines.  Long story short I'm here now..."  I looked at Shard and Blood Crest.

"Why did you bring her ... I can't trust her anymore she has a habit of lie'ing a lot"  She was quick to defend herself

"Well I'm sorry I mad you upset because I wanted to live.  If I had the choice I wouldn't have lied to you and I would have stayed there so I would have to deal with all of the bullshit in that hive.  I came here because I was banished like you dumb ass and now you are making me second guess on asking Blood Crest if I could stay with her."  Blood Crest cut in.

"You never asked me about this ... I don't even know you I just know that you knew him..."

"Well I was going to but I um ... never mind..."  She hung her head and had her ears pulled all of the way back.

"Well anyway Nightshade we just don't want you to get killed and we are just trying to ummm be good friends.  Plus That bitch gave me a nine out of ten when the others gave  me ten.  My revenge is close..."  I then pushed the female next to me out of the way and walked up to the bar and waited for the bartender to come.  However she followed me there.

"Nightshade I was wondering though if I could stay at your place just for a little while and all?"  I looked over to her.

"If you want to cause there is plenty of room now Berry and Bliss left yesterday and took all of my shit except for what was downstairs.  So yes if you want to you can."  A happy expression grew on her face and she hugged me only to quickly pull away.

"S-sorry I was just ... thank you."

"Your welcome ... may I ask you your name now for I have yet for you to tell me it."  She then blushed in a way and sat uncomfortably on her stool.

"W-well my n-name is um d-different than most and I-I um it ... when I went back to the hive they named me and ... Nayela..."

"I think that it is a nice name why where you so embarrassed by it?"

"I-I don't know I just am ok..." I then saw the bartender coming over

"So what would you like young lady?"  She looked up at him in surprise most likely by the pure emotion he was emitting and it was clear on what his intentions where.

"J-just a water please..."

"Well then one water fr you and ... Black Star ... let me guess Everfree Vodka?"

"No I would just like a water for now please."  He gave me a very confused look and then walked away after I put down five bits.

"Once he gets the water would you like to go it is getting dark?"

"It already is dark its almost eight fifty and it is snowing.  You can't see anything.  But yes I would like to just go somewhere warm and sleep."

"Ok why don't we just go now its water I have that at home."

"O-ok..."  I got off of the small stool and headed for the door and into the snow with Nayela close behind me.  She ended up just walking next to me and using me as shield so not to get hit by the heavy wind.  However she found a slick patch of ice and fell on her face losing her disguise.  I could see that she was bleeding and could see she was in pain.  I got a closer look and she had hit her noise pretty hard and her teeth stuck in the ice which would hurt much more.  She also had bit her tongue and was bleeding from her mouth too.  I didn't bother to ask her if she was ok for I already knew the answer and got her free from the ice and put her on my back.  I brought her back to my home and now her's too I guess and went straight downstairs and set her up in my bed.  I then went to the fridge and freezer and bot her an ice pack and a cool rag which yes I have in my fridge.  I then went back to her and gave her the ice pack but had her open her mouth and I put the cool rage over the bigger part of the cut but was relived that she would not loss her tongue.

"Listen you don't need to speak to me for now all you need to do is rest and I will take care of you for now.  Food is not the best option and will get you some warm water for your to drink.  But right now I am going to try and start a fire in the stove over there and if we're lucky it won't kill us."  She nodded to me but put on a slight smile to me as well but closed her eye's and tried to sleep.

I some how managed to get the fire going and returned to my bed to check on Nayela.

"thank you..."

"You shouldn't talk it will hurt more if you do."

"I don't care for I have yet to feel more pain just from talking."  She smiled at me and stuck out her tongue to me most likely to show that it was fine.  The bleeding had stopped but you could still see where she had bitten herself for there was a jagged cut near the tip.  I took  the rage out of her mouth and she whimpered at me doing so but quickly stopped as I got another rage and gave it to her.  I finally took off my cloak as well as my mask and took off what I could and moved to the foot of the bed.

"You may sleep next to me if you'ed like.  I know that you want to and it is quit cold for you to sleep above the covers.  I don't bit and you of all should know that for you have mounted me before.  Plus I would really like for you to do so..."  I looked at her dumbly and her sly smile disappeared  and was replaced with her face turning red.  I slowly did as she asked and got under the blankets beside her.  She turned to look at me but ended up dropping her ice pack which I picked up and held for her.  She blushed again and smiled at me moving ever so closer to me.  Soon she was almost on top of me while she held her head close to mine and  looked up into my eye's.

"I'm so sorry Nightshade I never wanted to hurt you.  When I first meat you I was scared of you for you where very negative towards me.  I lied about having a mate so that you would end it so I wouldn't ... I just made things worse for you and I am sorry about that too but I ... I wasn't lie'ing about having feelings for you."  I then turned red and was unable to move.

"N-Nightshade are you ok?"  She started to wave her hoof in front of my face but I still couldn't move.

"Oh shit ... I think I broke him..." She adjusted herself and sat up in the bed.

I then grabbed her and brought her closer to me bringing her lips to mine.  She didn't try to move or get away instead she came closer and we shared a warm embrace.  I then broke the kiss and and looked into her eye's.  However she broke away and licked my snout with her now healed tongue.  She the proceeded to nuzzle me.  I nuzzled back and pulled her as close as I could and brought her back down to the bed.

I nuzzled Nayela as we still held each other close after last nights events.

"I can feel that you are still exited from earlier love?"  She nuzzled me back and licked my snout too.

"Maybe I am or maybe not ether way I am still here next to you.  However even though I would love to have a round seven I have other things I must do today.  But you are welcome to join me if you really want to but I am meeting a potential client."

"I think that I will be fine but I would just want to be near you that way I wont have to hurt any'ling."

"You only get one warning but the tube is over there if you want to clean up I have to deal with my armor."  She nodded and jumped out of bed making her way to the bath tube.  I made my way to my wall full of different weapons and gadgets.  But damn did I make a lot of armor I made ten matching sets of five...  Don't judge I thought we would look better with matching uniforms.

Any way I picked out a new set of armor for some stupid prince had purple armor and nine times out of ten when I went to kill some'ling they would ask me if I was some guy named Shinning Armor.  As I looked over all of the stuff I could pike I realized something that could make this more easy for me.

"Nayela what color do you think would look good?"

"Why the hell are you asking me that?"

"Well I just wanted your opinion since you are now part of the group."

"I'm part of your assassin's group party thing?"

"You could say that yes."

"Hmm well if all it takes to join a group of assassins is sex then I think that you have some problems but yes I guess I will help you now."

"Thank you.  So what color?"

"When do you go out to kill?"

"... Well usually we wait until it is dark to go in for them but we leave while the sun is setting."

"Black."

"Why black?"

"Well it is easy.  Your chitin is a dark gray and your natural back plate is black but has a silver streak on the part that goes over your shoulder.  I can also see that you have a large amount of black weapons and other things that you made.  I mean look right there is a really cool looking black chest thing and it has you hoof knife thing you wear all of the time too.  Besides I think black is a sexy color."

"Wait what how is black sexy?"

"I have a dark and twisted mind and think of doing things rather than do them."

"So you ... ok then um does that have anything to do with the weird things you say and do when we have sex?"

"Maybe..."

"Ok then black.  So you don't hurt me..."

"You learn fast love."  I then felt her rub up against me an rested her head against mine.  I then took it down and put it on and got all of the other pieces that matched the armor.  I then took off my purple hoof blade and put on the new black one and the injection point was far bigger and a lot more painful.

"Nightshade didn't you have a client to meet or something?"

"Yes ... we should go now." I quickly rushed and threw a cloak on Nayela and then put her on my back as I ran out of the house and then down the street.  I then slowed down and let her off.  She took a minuet and put herself together.

"Dick, I wasn't ready for you to do that I still had to get my weapon from your wall."

"Oh no either I make you one or you buy one.  They are special."

"What if I said if I touched them while you slept?"

"But I held you close you couldn't have gotten up without waking me.  Was I doing something wrong to make you leave me?"

"What?  N-no Nightshade I was joking ... You need to stop taking things for granted love."  She nuzzled me and and kissed me on the check.

"I love you and you need to start learning what a joke is."  We then started to continue our walk to the assigned meeting point which was a back ally.  Nut suspicious at all might I add.  We turned the corner and found three pony's standing there, but only one wasn't a guard.  The smaller one must have seen us and quickly spun around ans told us to halt; we did as he asked.

"Sir I think we might need back up."

"I agree..."  The taller one pulled out a something thingy out of nowhere and started to talk into it?

"Hey I'm here with the new guy and we cornered in an alleyway just south of sugar cube corner we would like it if you send us two more and fast."  The thingy that he held is his hoof then talked back to him.

"Roger that, reinforcements on the way."  It was loud and had a buzzing sound to it similar to one of the radio's that play music and pony's talk into.

"Alright you guy's we are going to have to cuff all of you until we get some reinforcements so if you wouldn't mind lie on the ground and spread you hoof's."  Nayela looked at me for what to do yet I didn't know.  I tried to comfort her and I gently nuzzled her and pulled her close to me having her sit down next to me.

"I said get on the ground or we will have to consider you as a threat."

"You already consider us a threat and you are right we are but we would appreciate it if you let us sit instead for it is quit cold and I do not wish for my mate to have to lie on the ice."  He looked at me blankly and turned to the 'new guy' giving him a confused look while he only he only shrugged in response.

"Fine then, but would you kindly take off your cloak so we may see who you are and so we know if you are a threat to anypony?"

"But I am a threat to you and every other pony in this whole town..."  I took off my cloak and started walking towards them.

"...Then again you should know this by now.  Even though I am enjoying this conversation I believe that your are in between me and my client but if I let you two go you will tell on us.  So why don't you two get on the ground and hand your cuff's the the gentlecult behind you.  Or you could both die.  Your choice and I don't have all day."  They fell to the ground and threw their cuff's to the stallion behind them.  He laughed and cuffed both of them even gagging them so they couldn't speak.

"Well I wouldn't have thought that you would be a changeling but you will do ... for now."

"Is that so?"  Nayela slowly walked behind me trying to keep her head covered so that the pony could not see her face.

"N-Nightshade is this safe?"

"Yes, I have done this many times yet it is never the same either.  I am however almost able to get what I have planned for a few months."

"W-what is that may I ask?"

"Well I have been getting tired of having to go such a far distance to get good deals from the black market so I have been saving up enough money to get my own little piece of it up in Canterlot where we will be moving soon."

"C-Canterlot?  Are you sure that is such a good idea I mean with the princesses and all.  Plus there have been rumors of some new guards or something their lately."

"Stop being a naysayer it will be fine.  Now let us finish with our business."  I turned my attention back to my client and almost ran them over as I slid to a stop.

"Well it is very lovely of you two to be talking about your little planes and all but I thought we where here on business not Hearths Warming shit."  I let out a large sigh.

"Never mind, but are you ready to talk yet or are you still looking for a better place to hide?"

"No we are here."  I looked around the room and noticed that we where in a house and that the pony that lead us here had now revealed them self and it was hard to keep my mouth closed.

"Sorry I had to make you think I was your client but I needed to talk to you but it seem's you have already started to think about what I was going to say."

"What the fuck Healer!!!!  Why couldn't you have just called or something?!?!?!?!"

"I did.  Ten times, but Blood Crest and Shard tried to come to your house and talk to you but you wouldn't answer them either so we decided to just get you to come to us."

"Great are they trying to scare me again like last time or are they just late?"

"Both."  Nayela let out a yelp and before I knew what happened she was on the celing and both Shard and Blood Crest where standing where she used to be.  However Shard was holding a pin in his hoof and Blood Crest was giving him an evil stare.

"What I missed..."
