( observe, many holidays, and or other days and events in this fic is mostly headcanon, which means I put my own interpretation into them, this is an " alternate universe" fic after all. And any musical lyrics in this fic, if they do make it in, will most likely be from a song that exists in real life, and the song and artist will be listed in the end of the fic. enjoy!)

Chapter 1.

The young human was sitting in his room. Just thinking, thinking about what he had done earlier today. Oh and writing of course. He usually did when he had been in an emotional situation. He looked at the few lines of what he had written, a song. The thing that was consistent through most of it was the line " everybody else is an asshole", the song ,to him atleast seemed to be about shifting blame because you refuse to take responsibility, which was ironic, since he was the actual asshole at the moment.

So, emotional situation, you ask?

This time, he had hurt Twilight sparkle. But in his defence, being the only human in a dimension he couldn't escape from, and constantly remembering that you would never ever get home again, could make you kind of an asshole.

So, what is the backstory to his arrival in equestria?

Well, the writer of this is exceptionally lazy this evening. But he is not going to be a complete idiot to you, so here we go.

Kyle, as his name was, was a young man, around 20 years of age. The human race was in its " top of evolutionary and technological power" , or well so they liked to say atleast. Truth is that a few extra technological discoveries doesn't do much if the majority of the species is a bunch dumb as rocks.

In any case, teleportation had gotten close to being perfected, inanimate objects, such as soda cans and flower bouquets had been teleported safely across vast distances, from one scientific lab to the next. And in a stroke of luck, Kyle had applied to one of such labs that offered vast amounts of money for live test subjects to be sent through molecular space, and they had accepted him in.

But no story that has cliches in it can go without a few mishaps here and there. When the teleportation device was started, and all the scientists had removed themselves from the immediate area of the machine, something went wrong.

As Kyle literally felt his molecules being torn apart by the machine, he thought that this was going to be his last doing as a human. Being the first casualty in the quest of reaching perfect teleportation.

in a sense, he was right. the scientists in the facility most likely think he is now dead, and his molecules lost into nothingness.

But what really happened was that his being was thrown from the human universe and into Equestria.

and I would believe that he caused much commotion when he arrived. He did not remember any of the first few days he arrived there of course, his impact with the town fountain in Ponyville was a very bloody and painful ordeal. In all honesty, he is lucky to still be alive.

But he had the very fine unicorn doctors in Ponyville to thank that his cranium was able to be healed, by magic of course.

So now he was sitting there, contemplating how he was to apologize. Calling Twilight a... He sighed, a FUCKING idiot, had been going too far, clearly.

And over what, him being cynical and thinking she was stupid for thinking that mankind could be good and nice and.. he sighed again, being able to put their differences aside.

He shouldn't have flown off the handle like that. He hated people, yes, and people ARE stupid, or were. But he should have had a back and forth, instead of calling her names and swearing at her.

" well, I definitely am the fucking idiot here. " he said to himself, closing the notebook that he had gotten from that teacher pony. What was her name again? the one with the dark pink coat. Now he remembered, Cherilee.

He reminded himself that he had to pay her back for it, even though she said he didn't have to, he felt it was his obligation to reimburse her for the cost.

He laid it on the bed, that the carpenter of the town had made for him. Another pony he had to pay back for their kindness and work, since they did it for free. Hell, they even built this small house he was in for free.

Sure, it was very small, but it still was a building, and it was on a nice patch of land, ironically the view he got was facing towards the town fountain.

not that it mattered to him, he still chuckled every time he thought about it.

He stood up. He had to go and apologize.

He opened the door and stepped out. Winter had come to equestria, looking out at the snow covered streets reminded him of something Twilights friend Applejack had talked to him about, some sort of ceremony to celebrate the end of winter or something, called the " winter wrap up" .

It was cold, he felt the low temperature bite and cut at his skin within the first minute of being outside. The clothes he was wearing, which was the only clothes he owned right now, I might add, was the ones that the laboratory in his own dimension has provided for him.

A dark coloured test suit, with a zipper, a utility belt, and many pockets placed on the legs and the chest. It didnt sit as tight as one would think, it felt like a normal kind of overall. Kyle had drawn the conclusion that they are wantign to send normal, everyday people through the machine and that the machine has to be compatiible with " casual" clothing.

The suit also had a helmet, but as you can surely understand, it was smashed into pieces when he arrived in equestria, but where it was, he didn't know. Rumour had it that a mint coloured unicorn had cleaned the blood off of it in the fountain water with its magic, and then ran away with it.

It didn't matter to him though, it had felt constricting and claustrophobic anyway.

The snow crunched under the weight of his feet as he went down the street.

" Dammit" He sighed to himself.

" i'll have to get this thing cold proofed or something. It might get expensive, and I don't know if the tailors here take payment by how long it takes to do, or if they have a set price for certain services."

He sighed again.

" It'll be worth it though, I don't want to freeze my balls off this winter. Or any winter that is."

He kept thinking to himself as he headed through town, moving towards Twilights library, occationally waving " Hi" to the towns patrons.

Apparently they are getting ready to celebrate their dimensions version of christmas. From how much Twilight had explained to him, it was called Hearth's warming eve, and instead of the day being dedicated to a religious martyr, it was dedicated to the foundation of Equestria, and is not only celebrated by giving eachother presents and wishing one another luck, it is also celebrated by performing a play, depicting the legend of how equestria was founded.

Kyle shivered by the time he arrived at the library, and his knuckles started to hurt really bad thanks to the cold when he knocked on the door.

It took a few moments before the door opened and Twilights assistant, Spike opened the door.

" oh, hi" he greeted, frowning slightly at kyle, who was now rubbing his hands together to conserve the heat in them.

" Is Twilight there?" Kyle asked, looking at Spike, hoping that he wouldn't have to stand out in the snow for too long.

" Yes she is. But..." The little dragon began.

" Oh great" Kyle thought to himself. " He is either gonna drag this out, or refuse to let me in, like a little asshole..."

" she is very upset with you"

Kyle groaned. " i know, and that's why I'm here. I need to apologize to her, and I don't want her to be upset longer than neccesary, well, it isnt neccesary at all. Which is why delaying my apology to her is a bad idea."

Spike nodded and took a step to the side, letting him in.

As Kyle stepped inside, he was greeted by the owl named Owlicious, who flew over his head with a loud " Hoo" .

Spike sighed and rolled his eyes at the Owl, who had now landed comfortable on top of one of the many bookshelves.

" Kyle, that's who!"

Kyle turned to Spike. " Technically, I think that whould be 'Whom'. And I don't think he is actually asking who, that's just how owls sound."

Spike blinked, then he closed his eyes, rubbing them with one hand. " Oh for celestias sake..."

He groaned and walked over to a pile of books which he had been sorting on one of the shelves before Kyle had knocked.

" Twilight is upstairs, in her room. If you make her more upset-"

" I know" Kyle interrupted. " The hospital will be wondering why my skull have been crushed again."

He moved his hand up to the top of his head, feeling one of the three bumps under his fingers. These bumps were pieces of his cranium pushed against the skin. It was the result of the careful surgeon work the doctors had made on him, and he would have to get used to it, because there wouldn't be any way to smoothe them out any time soon.

He walked up the stairs, trying to be as silent as he could as to not cause a ruckus and disturbing Twilight if she was doing anything, but he also wanted her to hear that he was coming up the stairs, so she could prepare to greet him.

He knocked carefully on the door to her room, waiting for her to answer.

" Come in." Her, despite the circumstances, warm and vibrant voice was heard from inside.

He opened the door and went inside.

Twilight was sitting in front of her desk, the one facing the window which was at the moment displaying a wonderful sundown.

" Hi Twilight" He said as the purple alicorn turned around to face him.

" Oh hi kyle" she replied, oddly enough, without a sign of irritation, or anger in her voice.

Her eyes widened a bit when she looked at him, his face still red from the cold outside.

" Don't tell you walked all the way here in the cold, you know that your clothes donsn't keep you very warm." She walked up to him with a stern look on her face as she spoke.

" Yes, I know that, but I had to talk to you. I want to apologize."

She raised her head a bit when she heard this.

" Apologize?"

" Yes" He continued. " I want to apologize for being so awful towards you earlier. I mean, calling you a.. well, I'm ashamed, and I'm sorry for being such a horrible person."

Twilight look up at him, he was almost twice as tall as she was, but that was to be expected, even in his own world, humans were taller than ponies.

" Apology accepted" She said after a few moments.

" But" Twilight continued.

" I did wonder why you got so upset, and in hindsight, it might have been wrong of me to talk about your kind and your home world, especially knowing that you will never see either of them again." as she said this, she gave him a sympathetic look.

" And I understand that you got angry for that, and I apologize for-"

Kyle interrupted her.

" You dont have to apologize to me, sure, that WAS the reason that I flew off the handle, but that isnt an excuse to swear at you. So please, don't apologize."

Twilight closed her mouth, but smiled and nodded at him, not in defeat, more like a very strategical retreat.

" Allright, as long as it will stop us from entering another argument, then I will oblige with you."

Kyle smiles and lets out a sigh of relief.

" That makes me feel much better." He looked up and notice that the sun had gone down completely, and that the night had begun.

" Well, it looks like I have to go home and get ready for the night. I heard that people have stuff to do at daytime, since hearth's warming eve is coming up. I think I might be able to help people with the things they need help with."

Twilight blinked at him.

" People? What do you mean?"

Kyle chuckled.

" you know, like you say 'everypony' and 'anypony' and my kind says, 'everyone' and 'anyone'"

Twilight nodded again, smiling.

" Yeah, I remember you talking about that, when I asked you about your dimension." Her wings flapped in excitement, she was clearly eager to talk more about the subject, but she did realize the time was not right.

" Well, I'm heading home now. You take care allright?" Kyle said as he turned around to the door.

" I will follow you home tonight."

this made him smile.

" Are you sure it isn't too cold, Princess?"

She groaned as he said it.

" I told you, you dont need to call me that, it's a difference those periods of time I stay in canterlot and im surrounded by servants and guards. But when im here, as a librarian, I just want people to call me by my name."

Kyle opened the door and held it open to let Twilight go through first.

" understandable, and I'm only teasing you."

This made them both giggle as they went downstairs.

They were both walking down the street, at a faster pace than Kyle had when he walked alone, but that was only because Twilight wanted to be considerate about the cold. She was lucky that she had a coat that covered her from head to hoof.

Kyle looked up into the sky, at the stars above them, twinkling serenely as they whirled through space.

" things aren't so different here" He said to Twilight as they walked.

" i like space." he continued.

" Back home, I used to enjoy movies, books, and video games about science fiction, space travels and what have you. It's a bit ironic that.. I don't WAN'T this to sound rude, but this unfortunate situation I'm in is caused by said science."

Twilight nodded, understanding what he meant.

" But I'm here now, and I'll have to get used to things here, and that I'm different."

" It won't be such a hassle though" Twilight filled in.

" Zecora is a zebra, and people have taken her in. And we have a few saddle-arabians living in canterlot aswell."

Kyle smiled and sighed.

" I know what you mean, but zecora and the saddle-whatevers are still equines, there isn't exactly an elephant living in a house outside The apple family farm right? But they do have that big pigsty, damn that pig they have is a fat fuck ain't it?"

Twilight couldn't hold her laugh in.

" Hahahah! Oh sweet celestia, Kyle! Never let Applejack hear you say that. She will kick you right back into the hospital!"

Kyle chuckled. " Well, thats only one possible way of me dying in this play, offend one pony and I'll have hoofmarks all over my face."

They stopped as they reached the small house that he lived in.

" Thank you for following me here, will you get back in time to whatever you were doing?" Kyle asked her, he didn't want her to miss any work that she had to do.

" Don't you worry" She replied, spreading her wings.

" I can fly back home after all."

Kyle smiled and gave her a hug, which Twilight gave back, using her wings, wrapping them around his waist.

As she flew away, Kyle sighed, turned around and walked into his house.

He took off the boots he had on before heading straight to the bed. As he laid down on the bed, he closed the blinds, keeping the moonlight from keeping him awake.

As he closed his eyes he let out a heavy breath.

Getting used to living here will take a very long time.
