Kyle was ashamed, not because he had done something. Or, technically he had, but it wasn't his fault.
He had gone up early, wanting to be up and ready for the day. He had gone into the shower, which made him think how selective the technological advancements in equestria actually was. Showers, and lokomotives, but no guns or anything else close to it.
He had chuckled to himself while thinking. " I guess spears and iron armour won't help the royal guard very much when someone realize they can ram a whole fucking train right into the canterlot castle."
After the shower he had put on his clothes, and his boots, and as he was going to go out the door, he fell asleep. His whole body leaning face first into the door.
After a few hours, when the sun had risen and a lot of ponies were out and about their day, Twilight and her friend Fluttershy had knocked on his door.
The mumbling he had made in his sleep was mistaken for a muffled " Come in" and when Twilight opened the door, Kyle fell face first onto the ground. Luckily all he damaged was his nose, the amount of blood that gushed through it made them think that he had died.
Luckily he didn't, and his injury was quickly fixed by Fluttershy, goof thing she knew how to put cotton into a nose of an animal other than a pony, or any other kind of animal she had even taken care of.
The facial expression on Kyles face wasn't a happy one, as we already explained he was very ashamed.
" In all fairness, i did try to be up in good time to help people out." Kyle defended himself.
Fluttershy smile up at him as they walked down the road.
"It's nice of you to want to help ponies out with whatever they need help with. These things do happen sometimes after all." She said to him.
"Rainbow dash have done far worse, and that is when she had been fully awake"
Twilight nodded, and Kyle turned to Fluttershy.
"what did she do?"
"She was practicing her flying and ended up breaking her own wing, and after that she broke into the hospital she was being treated at to get a book back."
Kyle thought for a moment, processing the information.
"i guess that the 'far worse' part is breaking into the hospital, after all sometimes you do hurt yourself during practice."
Fluttershy nodded, absolutely, but the fun part is that Twilight introduced her to the book, and she could have borrowed it from her."
"But she was ashamed to admit she liked the book and to admit it to you?" Kyle filled in.
"how did you know that?" both of the ponies said in unison.
"It sounded like something that would happen in a story. like a cliche." he explained. " i just guessed".
Twilight blinked, then nodded to herself.
As they continued walking, they heard a british sounding voice along with a bell.
"Donate to the Ponyville and Canterlot Orphanage! Help fillies and colts without parents have a warm, loving Hearth's warming eve this year!"
The little colt, with a white coat and brown spots, looked over to Kyle and smiled.
"Hi sir! Do you have any bits to donate to the lonely little ponies in the orphanages?"
Kyle sighed as he felt a pain inside from not being able to help, since he didn't have anything.
He walk up to the little pony and kneeled down.
"I'm sorry little guy. I wish i could. I didn't have a house here, and the nice ponies of the town helped me by building one for me, and i couldn't imagine having a home, or anyone to help and take care of me."
The pony looked up at him, looking a bit confused.
Kyle continued.
"There is a lot of ponies i need to pay back for their help. What is your name, little guy?"
"Pipsqueak, sir."
"You know what Pipsqueak? You're doing a good job. You're a good pony. MY name is Kyle, remember me next time you are collecting for the ponies that have it worse than the rest of us. By then, im sure that i have enough money to donate, and i promise to help as much as i can."
He ruffled Pipsqueaks hair, earning a smile from the little pony.
"Me and a friend of mine knows how it is to be alone and how it is to feel helpless, we want to do our best." He said as he smiled up at Kyle.
Kyle smiled back at him. "Keep working hard, and have a good day."
"oh i will sir!"
Kyle stood up, wiped the snow off his knees and went back to Twilight and Fluttershy, who had walked up to look at Pipsqueaks and Kyles exchange.
"What a sweet little colt" Fluttershy said, a happy expression on her face.
"He is going to be a nice stallion when he grows up " Twilight added.
After a while of walking they ended up inside the town cafe, called " The sugarcube corner".
Twilight and Fluttershy knew all three ponies that was working there, a husband and a wife, Mr and Mrs Cake, and one more of Twilights and Fluttershys friends, a pink mare, with even more pink fluffy hair, named Pinkie pie.
Kyle wasn't even surprised that her name had the colour of her coat in it.
When he was introduced to her, she started to bounce around and talk about parties. She was interrupted by Twilight, who reminded her that me, and all of their other friends were supposed to have a get together in the library that evening.
Mr and Mrs Cake was trotting around, giving different sugary treats to the customers there. Pinkie pie was there to help them during the hearth's warming rush.
Kyle offered his help and it was well welcomed by the owners of the face, aswell as Pinkie pie, who started talking about baking cupcakes, muffins and other sweets.
When Kyle and Pinkie pie walked into the back, heading into the kitchen area, Twilight and Fluttershy had left the cafe, saying that they were going to go and buy some things for the get together later that evening.
Pinkie pie took an apron form one of the hangers on the wall and turned to Kyle.
"So, you're from another dimension, how is it there? Do you have ponies there too? Do you have cupcakes? What about muffins?"
This barrage of questions didn't surprise Kyle, it was to be expected. As he helped Pinkie pie with preparing and putting cupcakes and other treats into the different ovens to bake.
When they got time for a quick break, Kyle looked around. He saw some ingredients on the table in front of himself and Pinkie pie.
The talk about his home had reminded him that he could make something from home. He noticed that there was a few pots on the wall, some butter and some cream in front of him.
He turned to Pinkie pie, who was quite loudly eating a chocolate chip cookie.
"Do you think the Cakes would let me make something from my home dimension?"
She closed the mouth she had been chewing with as she swallowed and looked at him.
"They might do, but we must make sure there is enough ingredients, and to be careful we don't use too much, in case it isnt enough for something later on."
Kyle walked over to the kitchen door, looking out into the front area, where the customers and the register were.
"Mrs cake?" he asked as he saw her walk past.
"yes dear? " she replied, putting some gold coins into the register.
"I was thinking that i could cook up a certain winter candy from back home. All i need is some butter, some cream, almonds, sugar and some golden syrup. Do you have some i can use?"
She looked interested and nodded.
"of course dear. Go ahead, we might be able to convince some of the customers to taste it. How long will it take?"
Kyle thought, trying to remember the exact details of the recipe.
"Hmm. If i remember correctly, im supposed to let the mix simmer for an hour, and then put it in the freezer, so i might have a batch or two ready in a few hours."
She smiled at him.
"As long as you and Pinkie make sure that you bake everything else that needs to be baked, i will allow it."
"thank you" He said before heading back into the kitchen.
"Allright!" He exclaimed, picking the ingredients he needed from the table and the cupboards in the kitchen.
"Pinkie. Look closely, for i am to show you how to make a winter candy, inherited from my scandinavian ancestors! they are called 'Breaks'"
"oooh, 'Breaks'" Pinkie pie echoed as she bounced up and down, looking at all the ingredients being mixed into the pot they had put on the stove.
"Why are they called that?" she asked.
"it's not because they break your teeth is it? That wouldn't be very pleasurable."
He chuckled.
"No, not at all. They're called that because of how nicely they break into tasty, sweet pieces when you chew on them. "
"that does sound tasty" Pinkie said, licking her lips.
"So how do we make them?"
Time went on as all the cupcakes, muffins and breaks got done. The breaks got a good welcome with the ponies of the town who loved them. They sold every single break that Kyle and Pinkie had cooked up, and the Cakes got quite a bit of extra money from them.
When the Cakes told Kyle and Pinkie that they could deal with the amount of customers from then on, Mrs cake gave Kyle a bag filled with bits.
"how much is this?" he asked weighing the bag in his hand.
"Its one hundred bits, we earned a lot thanks to your homemade candies, and i think you should get some of it"
He raised his eyebrow at her.
"but this is far too much to be from just my candies, we didnt make that many? "
She smiled, looked around to make sure no one was listening to them, then she lowered her voice a bit.
"i know, but i heard that you have some debts you need to pay back to some of the ponies in town, and consider this a gift from me to you, a down payment to some of those services you got."
Kyle smiled and nodded.
"Bless your heart, Mrs Cake."
She giggled and pushed her hoof against his chest.
"Oh don't worry about it, it is my pleasure."
After saying goodbye to everyone, and saying "see you later." to Pinkie pie, he walked out of The sugarcube corned.
He breathed in the cold evening air, feeling it sting slightly in his nose, that no longer had the cotton in it, the bleeding had been stifled long ago.
He looked around, trying to remember which way was leading to Twilights library.
Then, in the distance, he heard that bell again. He smiled and started to walk towards it.
Pinkie pie was looking around the corner of one of the buildings she was standing next to. She had seen Kyle walk in the opposite direction of The library, and wondered where he was going.
She smiled at what she saw.
Kyle had walked up to Princess Lunas friend, the little colt Pipsqueak and gave him what seemed to be half of all the bits he had in a leather bag.
The little colt was beaming with happiness and had given him a hug, thanking him repeatedly, saying "I will tell my friend about you!"
She smiled and turned around, heading towards Raritys boutique.
"what a nice guy" She thought to herself. " Even though he has ponies that he needs to pay, he still gave a lot to those who need help. I wonder what the element of generosity will think about him when i tell her?" She giggled and started to trot faster.
Kyle smiled as he got closer to the library. He felt very good about himself after speaking to Pipsqueak and giving half of his money to the orphanages.
He knocked on the library door before opening it and saying.
"it's me, Kyle."
"Kyle, come in, please, come in!" Twilight said, walking to greet him.
"Did everything at Sugarcube corner go well?" She asked as Kyle wiped his feet at the doormat.
"It went well, i made some winter candy from back home, i brought some of that with me for you guys, and i got a bit of money from Mrs Cake, to help pay all the ponies that i owe."
He decided to not tell Twilight about donating half of it, knowing her, she'd tell him that it would be better to make sure he doesn't have any debt before giving money to others.
"that was very nicee of her." Fluttershy said, sitting by the table with a cup of steaming chocolate milk in front of her.
Owlicious was sitting on the table, in the middle of it, and greeted him with a "Hoo!".
Spike waved at Kyle where he was standing in front of the fireplace, his butt turned towards it.
They all sat down at the table and started talking. Kyle handed a few pieces of "breaks" to his new friends, and they enjoyed them. He wanted to save the rest for when the other ponies would come over.
He didn't have to wait long though, after a little while, there was another knock on the door.
