We can't go back now.

Chapter 3.

Kyle had always been a bit nervous when meeting new people, it was something about introducing a new person to who you are that didn't tickle his fancy in a good way.

The good thing was that he had already met Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, and of course Twilight.

First there was a light blue coloured pegasus with a rainbow coloured mane. Just as with pinkie pie and her pink mane and coat, he wasn't too suprised to hear that her name was Rainbow dash.

"Pleased to meet you, Ms.Dash" He said and shook her hoof, just to be polite.

After her, was Pinkie pie, bouncing between two other ponies, a white unicorn and a orange coloured earth pony, as they were called.

The unicorn had the manners of a upper class lady, and she looked the part too, wearing something that looked like a formal dress. He couldn't be sure though, he had known nothing about dresses back home, here he knew even less.

Her 'upper class lady' manners showed even more in the way she held up her hoof for him to greet her. In hindsight he figured that she probably expected him to kiss her hoof, but he had placed one hand under her hoof and one softly on top of her hoof and given her a welcoming squeese, which she had seemed content with. Her name was Rarity.

The orange pony seemed to be the opposite of Rarity, not in a " she is totally a bum" way. She was a country girl. Her hair in a ponytail, and a cowboy hat on top of her head. The energy that she greeted Kyle with felt to him that she was shaking his hand instead of the opposite. Not that it mattered, aslong as he gave her a good impression.

They all went inside and the get together started. They ate cookies, that was very similar to gingerbread cookies, drank some warm chocolate and chatted with eachother.

"So, kyle." Rarity, said as she levitated a cup if chocolate up in front of herself, the cup glowing with a bluish cloud around it.

"Is there anything you can tell us about where you are from? Anything from your home that you could show us?"

Kyle stopped chewing on the piece of Break he had in his mouth, which was taken well by Twilights friends, and swallowed before answering.

"To be honest, there isnt much to show. I mean, we happen to speak a language that is the same in both worlds, so there's that. I guess my clothes are the only thing that I can show you."

He ran his hand over his suit. As it ran over some of the pockets on his leg, he felt something.

"I should clean it too, the pockets are gettign full of lint and dust." He said, grabbing the edge of the pocket and shaking it.

A sudden sound caught him off guard and make him jump slightly in his seat.

"what was that? was that.. a coin?" He asked out loud, as he leaned down, looking for it on the floor.

The ponies and Spike followed him with their eyes as he sat back up, holding a silver looking coin in his hand.

"huh.." He said.

"I don't remember having this."

"What is that on it's side? " Applejack said, pointing with her hoof at the coin.

Kyle turned the coin around and looked at the profile of a mans face on it.

"Oh right. That is the king of sweden." He started to explain, remembering more about the coin now.

"On certain coins and money bills we have monarchs, and persons of historical value imprinted upon them."

Rarity put her cup down, looking very interested at the mention of royalty and historical importance.

"So your home country was a monarchy?" She asked, looking right at him.

"Both yes and no.." He started slowly, scanning through his brain for the correct information.

"Let's say that a few hundred years ago the people of equestria overthrew the royal family and instated a democracy, but still kept the royal family with royalty status, to still have a bit of importance, for traditions sake. That's how it started atleast." He explained, looking at the monarchs face on the coin.

"The king of sweden as he is today, he is more like a person with a title, but that title doesn't allow him to do anything of importance, we use him as advertisement for our country."

Rarity nodded.

"I don't fully understand, but I think I get the idea."

"I think there should be some text on it aswell." Kyle continued, as he turned the coin again.

On that side it said " 1 KR " And around the curved edge it said. " A dream about a home across the sea".

He read this out loud.

"Sounds like a poem!" Pinkie pie exclaimed.

This was followed by a chuckle from Rainbow dash.

"Ha! You're all a bunch of poets aren't you!"

This earned her a look from Fluttershy, which seemed to scare her a bit, and she quieted down.

"I guess so." Kyle said, putting the coin on the table.

"Anyone can take it, I don't want it."

"why not?" Twilight asked, looking at him with a worried look.

"it's best not to linger on what i've left behind, I can't go back, and I wish not to be reminded of it further."

He ran his hand over his chin and cheek, both of them feeling prickly. He had to shave, or maybe he didn't. After all he could start anew here, try things he hadn't tried before.

"Kyle?"

He looked up.

"yes?"

Pinkie pie was waving her hoof at him.

"Can I have another piece of Break?"

"Can I have one too?" Spike and Rainbow dash asked simultaneously.

He smiled.

"Yeah sure. Just take as many as you want, I can make more."

He chuckled to himself as Pinkie pie and Rainbow dash had a small scuffle over who had taking too many Breaks, and Spike seizing the moment to grab quite a bit of them for himself.

"I also heard that you had done a very good thing today Kyle" Rarity commented, smiling at him, blinking with those big eyelashes at him.

"Oh crap, this isn't good." He thought in a panic to himself.

"yes he totally did!" Pinkie pie popped up from under the table.

"He went-"

Kyle looked at her, waving his hand in a quick cutting motion under his jaw, his face saying

"Cut it cut it cut it cut it" While his eyes darted quickly back and forth between Twilight and Pinkie pie.

Pinkie pie understood, gave him a wink, and then turned to Twilight, wrapping a hoof around Rarity, and speaking in a " I'm super convincing" voice.

"You know, he went to the sugarcube corner and gave EVERYONE a piece of Breaks, you know, the thing I told you!"

All the ponies looked at her, confused.

"But pinkie." Twilight said, raising her eyebrow at her pink fluffy friend.

"We ALL know that, Kyle told us, remember?"

Pinkie pie blinked, and then she let out a "Oooooh!". Almost like a " oh I see"

As they all went back to chatting normally with eachother Kyle noticed Pinkie pie whispering something to Rarity, and the white unicorn nodding.

Kyle smiled at Pinkie and gave her a thumbs up.

Pinkie smiled back and put her left hoof to her mouth, she blew into it and a small finger looking appendage appeared on her other hoof, it almost looked like a little thumb. She raised it to him, smiling widely.

"Well, good thing that that won't give me any nightmares whatsoever" He said to himself, taking a sip of warm chocolate.

Kyle was sitting in his bathroom, Hearths warming eve was over, or it had been over for a few days, but all the sweets and equestrian hearths warming food had gotten to his stomach, and there he was.

Even though he hadnt been able to get anyone any gifts, due to the circumstances, he had gotten one present each from all his new friends.

From Twilight, he got a book on pony technology, if he knew her right then it was just to compare his home dimensions and Equestrias later on. Fluttershy had given him a book too, a book listing Equestrias animals, apparently they have some animals in Equestria that were only mythical creatures back home, and it would definitely be an interesting read.

Rainbow dash had gotten him a pair of flying goggles, since he couldn't fly they turned into a good fashion accessory.

And speaking of fashion, Rarity had managed to get his measurements thanks to volunteering to wash his suit, and had made him a undershirt and a pair of underpants to wear under the suit to keep his warmth better out in the cold.

Applejack had given him a barrel of sweet apple acres cider, with a tap you could open and close too.

Pinkie pie had gotten him a bowl of different chocolates and candies, and a pair of funny glasses with the eyes bobbing out.

He had been very thankful for the gifts and had given them all a big group hug, which had made the girls smile and giggle.

He was taken back to reality as he was reminded of the cold porcelain against his back as he had leaned back a bit.

He sighed.

"Good thing they have toilets, my god it would have been horrible if they didn't."

He chuckled.

"Oh home bowl, you make me feel comfortable and safe."

Still thinking to himself, he reached to get some paper. " Good thing all the facilities are working without error, I mean how much misery can-"

His sentence was cut short as he felt that the paper roll was empty.

"... DAMN IT!"

Rainbow dash was flying around over Ponyville, even though it was the holiday season she couldn't let her duties as a weather pony go undone. If a huge winter tornado suddenly swept through town, she would have too much to deal with. And she thought it better to prevent a problem before it could appear.

As she flew around, she noticed Kyle sitting outside his house on a chair.

"huh" she thought to herself.

"The way he sits, he looks exactly like Lyra" She shrugged, and kicked the last cloud into nothingness before flying down to her new friend.

"Hey there " she said, landing in front of him.

He was reading the book Twilight had given him, when she had greeted him. He looked up, and she felt a bit of happiness as she noticed he had the flying goggles places around his head.

"Hey there, yourself Rainbow dash." He greeted her as he reached for a mug that he had put in the snow next to his chair.

"I really have to tell applejack that her cider tastes wonderful" He said before taking a gulp and then putting the mug down again.

"Well yeah, it is some of the most sought after ciders this side of canterlot" Rainbow dash said, eyeing the mug greedily.

"Can I take a sip?" She asked, her wings flapping once in hope.

"Sure go ahead"

"THANKS!" she exclaimed as she did her best to calmly walk forward and drink a bit.

"you ponies are so nice. you should have seen me this morning, here I was toilet trouble, and then I realize I'm out of paper." Kyle said, placing a bookmark at the page in the book he was at before closing it.

"thankfully I have that small window in there, so I got help from a pony who was willing to run and buy a roll of paper for me. It was really nice."

A loud burp made him look at Rainbow dash, who was now sitting on the ground, licking her lips and the mug empty on the ground in front of her.

"Ive heard about eating like a horse, but I'm not sure there is a saying for a horse drinking cider" he commented, raising his eyebrow at her.

"uh.. I'm sorry" Rainbow dash said, feeling a bit ashamed at her display.

"don't worry about it" He replied, putting the book on the chairs arm rest.

"It feels good to pig out from time to time, right?"

She nodded. "Yeah, especially after a day of work, or on a day off. I love doing that and reading Daring do!"

"So you like to read?"

She turned her head a bit.

"Well yeah, but only Daring do, I like action and adventure. not the kind of books you and Twilight are reading."

He chuckled.

"Too bad that I don't have any books from back home. You would have been amazed at the science-fiction we had. Spaceships, lasers, explosions, strange and dangerous planets, filled with aliens and other stuff."

"That does sound awesome." Rainbow dash said as she stood up.

"Well, I have to fly back home now. But hey, maybe we could hang out sometime and talk about those cool sounding books?"

She started flapping her wings, hovering in front of him.

"absolutely" He replied.

"and we could grab something to eat or drink and chat about other stuff too."

Rainbow dash looked away and coughed.

"uh, yeah. that sounds fine. but hey gotta go. see ya!" And she was gone in a flash.

Kyle grabbed the book and the mug, heading inside his house, closing the door behind him.

Rainbow dash was flying through the air, heading towards her home on the clouds. She didn't know why she was flying so fast, it totally wasn't to get rid of the blush she had felt growing on her cheeks.

nope, not at all.
