Chapter 1

Disposable heroes

There I was, standing in front of seven multi-colored equines of some sort. They seemed to have different features too, Two had wings, one had a horn, two had a combination of both and the last two had nothing special at all. Except the mark on their hind legs, which they all had but they were all different. Stars, Apples, balloons, butterflies, gems, a cloud shooting rainbow thunder and a crescent moon. At this point I didn't know how they got here or what they were but from that moment on my life changed forever, I still don’t know if it was a good change or not but all I do know is that I could never go back.

This is how it happened, war. War in their homeland. A war that they lost.

“FALL BACK TO THE CASTLE! WE MUST PROTECT THE PRINCESSES! FALL BACK!!” The colonel bellowed over the sound of gunfire, magic, screams, shouts and explosions.

It was currently 1 o’clock in the afternoon yet the sun still hasn't risen into the sky, only blackness. Not surprising if you take into account the fact that Canterlot was under attack from the whole changeling swarm lead by queen Chrysalis. The fight has been going on since when dawn should’ve arrived but no civilians where hurt because the city was prepared for a fight. They were evacuated before the changelings attacked, they actually waited for the civilians to evacuate before assaulting the city in search for the princesses. Since then there has been nothing but bloodshed in the streets, red pony blood and yellow changeling blood, painting the roads, the walls and the soldiers themselves.

“FALL BACK!! IT’S A SLAUGHTER OUT HERE! FALL BACK!!!!” he bellowed once again before taking a spear through his chest.

As the soldiers slowly made their way towards the castle so did the changelings, Chrysalis getting more and more exited. The only reason she ordered the attack was for revenge on the princesses for ruining all her plans and destroying her hive. Her home, the home of her subjects.

After another half an hour of fighting, Chrysalis decided to help lead the attack head on, for she was giving orders from the back. She must not fight first for she needs the final glory of slaying the princesses with her own hooves.

Once she was in the vision of the guards personally protecting the elements of harmony the mane six were informed faster than you could say “Cupcakes”

“Your highness, she has arrived” announced one of the guards to Twilight

“Thank you” she said gracefully. “Girls, get ready and wait for my signal.” She and the other mane six walked onto a balcony watching over the fight.

“We should be in there kicking changeling plot.” Rainbow exclaimed, holding back the urge to fly into battle

“You know we can’t do that, Sugercube, we need to stay protected, and wait for the right moment to use the Elements of Harmony” Applejack responded as-a-matter-of-factually.

“Cant we just stop this fighting and go home?” Fluttershy asked weakly

“No, we can’t.” said Pinkie Pie unlike herself, unhappy and with a straight mane that reminded the others of an asylum inmate.

“Pinkie, that isn't like you.” Twilight said worriedly.

“But you know its true, there has been to much blood spilled today. TO MUCH!” She shouted with teary eyes. “We can’t just walk away and forget all about it. Its not right!”

“As much as I’d hate to say it but she’s right, we can’t walk away from this, not now” Rarity agreed, almost shedding tears herself.

Moments passed before anypony said a word while they watched the raging fight continue below.

“It’s time!” Twilight muttered gravely as she watched the queen draw nearer and nearer. The others got into formation. “on my mark, three, two.…” but before she could say one a changeling saw the magic growing around the six ponies and kamikazes into them to disrupt the elements. And it did more than disrupt them, it broke them completely, stripping Equestria from its most important means of defense.

“NOOOOOO!!!” Twilight screamed after recovering from the blast. “NOOO! Noooo!! No no no no no no NO!!

“Come on, we need to fall back to the thrown room. We can’t stay here, there is nothing we can do now.” Applejack said full of shock as she dragged Twilight to the door.

They arrived in the thrown room to meet up with Celestia, Luna, Cadence and Shining armour. Not long after, the changelings arrived at the door trying to nock it down. It was shut with magic to buy them time.

“The portal room, now.” Celestia ordered.

“Why? Can’t we hold off here?” rainbow asked confused.

“DO NOT ARGUE! Get to the portal room, NOW.” She bellowed, scaring everypony.

As they made their way to the portal room they could hear the door to the thrown room smash open and the sound of buzzing filled the hallways.

“GO, I’ll hold them off!” Shining said while stopping suddenly to turn and face the way in witch they came, waiting for the changelings.

“You can’t, they’ll kill you,” Cadence shouted back at him.

“I’ll take my chances, just GO, or we all die.” he insisted making a magical wall between them.

“Thank you.” Twilight whispers while crying before running off to catch up with her friends.

As they reached the portal room they found it open ready. Luckily it was that time of the cycle moon. The last time it was used was when Twilight had to retrieve her crown from Sunset Shimmer. Flash Sentry was lying beside it dead as if there was already a fight in the room.

“What are we doing in here? Pinkie asks still crying.

Celestia looks at the portal and then back at the mane six.

“NO, you don’t expect me to leave you, right?” Twilight asks shaking.

“I’m sorry, but this is how its meant to be, its for your own good.” The sun goddess said starting to cry. And before any of the mane six could react they were covered with a golden aura.

“NO, YOU CAN’T DO THIS, NOOOO” they screamed as they were thrown through the portal

Silence fell across the room for it was only the three Alicorns left in next to the portal.

“Are you sure that was a good idea?” Luna asked her crying sister.

“Yes, it was for the best, we have already lost this war, so why waste there lives?” she whispered. Luna looked away letting Celestia and Cadence to look at each other and nod. Suddenly Luna was also surrounded by the same Golden aura.

“WHAT? NO, SISTER! WHAT IS THOU DOING?!?” she screamed in anger as she too drifted towards the portal.

“I’m sorry” Celestia whispered with her eyes full of tears as Luna was sent through. “I’m really sorry.” She then used her magic on the portal itself causing the frame to bend and snap, terminating the only way to the other world. “Now nothing can follow.” she said to Cadence before Chrysalis entered the room.
