Out of Place

Chapter 2

Blackened

“Aarghh, my head, what happened? Rainbow asked slowly.

“Ah don’t know.” replied Applejack rubbing her head.

Twilight awoke confused but not as much as the others. She looked down expecting to see hands again, prepared. But saw hooves instead, hooves, no. “Girls, what do I look like?” she asked worriedly.

“Like yourself, Twilight, why?” Fluttershy said.

“We’re not supposed to look like this, remember? We’re supposed to have hands at the end of our forelegs not hooves.” Twilight said panicking.

“Obviously the portal has failed to succeed on that part.” Rarity said calmly. “Calm down darling, we survived, together.”

The six ponies looked around and saw that they were in the middle of some forest.

“But we’re lost, together, with no telling where we are” Pinkie said with her mane still straight.  “Where are we going to…” but before she could finish she was interrupted by a flash of swirling light. It faded within seconds leaving behind a very upset looking moon goddess.

“Princess Luna! Why are you here? What happened?” Twilight screamed as she galloped over to Luna.

“Ce-Celestia…she sent me th-through the damned po-portal…” she sobbed trying her best to hold back her tears. “She must ha-have destroyed it too, s-so nothing could fo-follow into this world.”

After a while of tears and confusion they all noticed that it was getting dark, without Luna’s control.

“I’ll scout out and search for shelter for the night.” Rainbow exclaimed and before anypony could object she flew off with a trail of rainbows in her wake. It took some time for her to come back to the others, “OK, so I found nothing but an old mansion up that way, but yeah, it was all I could find out here.”

“That should do for now.” Luna breathed finally calming dawn, but still very upset.

As they set off, they noticed that the forest was quiet, too quiet. Like all the wildlife was gone, maybe scared off, maybe killed or maybe driven away by a more superior species. It seemed like hours before they reached the mansion but it was only mere minutes after they set off.

“This is it.” Rainbow said as they reached the building. “this was all I could find, soooo, do we go in or stay out?”

“We go in.” the blue alicorn said with no emotions. “Its better than staying in the cold”

As they entered the huge house they noticed some boxes laying on the floor in some of the rooms and part if the building must have been still in construction. They found a room with a carpet that was big enough for all seven of then and decided to sleep there until morning.

“This ‘ll have to do Ah suppose. C’mon lets get some rest.”

“But I want to explore the alien house more.” pinkie whined, her mane slightly more inflated than before.. “Please, please, please, please, pleeeeeeaaaaaaaaase!!!!!!”

“No, Pinkie, it could be dangerous.” Twilight replied “ you just can’t go around in places that are unknown, for all we know there could be a dragon in here.”

And with that not another word was said before they decided to go to sleep, cuddling next to each other for protection.

“Kirk! Wake up, we’re here.” I hear a voice say “Damn it Kirk, you really need to stop sleeping in the day. Wake up!” the voice started to prod me in the arm after that last comment.

“Mmmm, five more minutes.” I mumble as I roll over in the car.

“Kirk, I know you’re nocturnal but we need your help moving these boxes, this is your house too!” it said, prodding me even harder.

“I’m up, I’m up” I mumble again waving a hand to stop the prodding. “Why cant we do this at night? When I’m actually awake!”

“Because, Kirk, we all sleep at night, we’re not nocturnal like you, well Percy is half and half but lets not go there.”

I open my eyes to the blinding light of the sun. I hate it. God damn ball of gas in the god damn sky. Besides it’s not my fault I’m nocturnal, it’s A) the suns for being so bright and hot, B) the moons for being so pretty and C) the dream that I see every time I close my eyes fault for making me not want to sleep every night.

“You’re covered in sweat again, same dream?” I looked over to see a woman in the drivers seat.

“What do you think?” I reply coldly, “Same dream every time I sleep, Sophie, Every time.”

“Anyway, my brother and Lance are already here moving more boxes in. I still don’t know how he does it.”

“Who does what?” I ask confused.

“Lance, you know…” she said pointing to her eyes.

“I find it’s best not to question it.” I sigh and open the door of the car. “just don’t say anything about it when he is in earshot, his earshot range that is, you know how he can get.”

I went to the boot of the car and picked up the first brown box I saw, it labelled ‘Percy’s work stuffz’ to which I rolled my eyes. As I entered the huge mansion we had just bought a few day prier I noticed that some of the boxes have been moved into different rooms. I forgot where Percy said his workshop was going to be so I decided to place it in the hallway, what? I’m lazy. I got another box that said ‘Amp equipment.’ “This should go in one of the recording rooms then.” I think to myself. But as I open the door to said room I find an unexpected surprise.

Equines.

Seven of them. I was sure of it, same general shape and build but something was different, the colours of their fur mainly. It looked like a zoo crossed with a skittles factory. I just stared at them. They stared at me. Who knows how much time passed but I was in so much shock. You cant blame me, if you saw seven multi-coloured aliens in you home how would you react? Eventually I decided to move further into the room, not to the aliens but to place the box down because it was getting really heavy in my arms. I looked over at the creatures again, still there, damn, so I walked out the room and stood in the doorframe.

“GUYS!!!!” I scream down the hallway

“What?” I hear another voice shout back at me.

I look back into the doorway, they were still there,

“Just wait a moment will you?” I ask them, not really sure why. I closed the door and turned back to the hallway “WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU PUT IN MY COFFEE BEFORE WE LEFT?!?!”

“Wait, WHAT?! Hold on ill be right there.” and before I knew it Sophie arrived with a very confused look.

“Please. Tell me I’m not the only one who can see them, I really don’t want to find out that I’v finally gone insane.”

“What are you talking about? Who’s ‘them‘?”

I hesitated then opened the door showing the insides.

“Take a look for yourself.”

She looked into the doorway and stared for about thirty seconds.

“Do you want the good or the bad news?” she asked finally looking at me.

“The bad news?”

“You’re not the only one that can see them.”

“Wait, what? How is that the bad news? Then what’s the good news?” I ask confused.

“You haven’t finally gone insane.” and with that she collapsed to the floor, out cold.

I stood there confused even more then looked into the room again to see the equine things having the same expression. Eventually the lavender one stepped forward and opened its mouth.

“Uughhhhh, hello?” it spoke in a feminine voice.

After that, I too fell to the floor out cold.
