Rosie was a white pegasus with a reddish-orange mane. Her cutie mark was a scroll of paper, announcing her love to read and write. Currently, she was pacing her bedroom. It was her favorite spot to pace. She had paced so much the last couple of days she had made a groove in the floor with her hooves. "Argh! What to do...what to do?!"

Some pony knocked on her door. "Hey, sis? Can I come in?"

"Oh what could you possibly want now, Caramel?" she sighed, letting her little filly sister in. Caramel was a cute chocolate-brown pegasus with blue eyes that matched her sister. She was still a 'blank flank'.

Caramel hopped on Rosie's bed. "I found a letter, addressed to you.."

"Oh really..? From who?" said Rosie absentmindedly, and started to continue to pace.

"Well that's what I'd like to know." Caramel said in a rather sing-song voice, childishly waving the letter around in the air. "I think it's a love letter! And that's why you've been sneaking out at night. You have a special some pony!" she teased.

"I do not." Rosie objected, trying to snatch the letter away from her.

"Ah, ah, ah." Caramel said, flying up in the air. "I want to read it!"

"Give it back, Caramel!" Rosie ordered, stamping one of her hooves. "Or i'll tell mum and da on you!"

Caramel sighed and flung the paper in her sisters direction. "You're no fun.." she grumbled, walking out of the room.

As soon as she had left Rosie teared open the letter. Her eyes darted from side to side as she scanned down the piece of paper. She grinned, it was a letter from her father, announcing that the catacombs had been finished. It had now been turned into a huge library space, with tons of books. Sadly, the royal pony sisters, had forbidden anyone to read them. The letter also said he would be returning home today, and Rosie was sure happy about that. She opened the door and ran downstairs. "Momma! It's a letter from dad and he-"

Her mother, Snow Belle was a grey pegasus with a cutie mark with two bells, symbolizing her talent for music. She was sitting in the living room, hugging Caramel..they were both crying.

"What is it..?" Rosie asked.

"Father has been hurt..by something in the catacombs." Snow Belle sobbed.

"But that's..." Rosie started to say, and then glanced at the date on the letter, which was from three days ago. "How did he get hurt?"

"No one knows.." Caramel said quietly, patting her mother on the back. "Don't worry mother, the doctors will take care of everything."

Her mother nodded. "Let us go and write him back..so he'll know that we are alright."

Rosie walked out the door away from her family. It was so unfair that her father had to work to build the catacombs already. Oh sure they were getting good pay, 100 bits per day. But still..

She took to the skies, angry, stressed. She needed a good flight to keep her mind off things. But she kept coming back to the thought of what had happened to her father. What was in there? Why would it be so secretive?

Rosie knew she could only find out those things..

For herself.
