Red Dawn Rises

The next morning turned out better the yesterdays. Red managed to get a full night’s sleep without any nightmares, the sky was blue with no clouds in sight, the sun was bright and warm the day was almost perfect.

       “Red can you do me a favor?” Flutter shy asked.

       “What is it?”

       “I need you to feed the animals inside for me.” Red nodded his head and raced off. He came back a few moments later with a big bag of animal food. Flutter shy smiled and left to go feed all the animals outside. When she finished serving them all their food Red came up behind her.

       “Ms. Flutter shy look.” Red Said excitedly. When she turned around she smiled softly.

       “I’m part rabbit.” Red told her with a smile. Flutter shy giggled and patted him on his head. Than unexpectedly Angle popped out from behind his head smiling. Never in her entire life has Flutter shy seen angle this happy and filled with life.

       “Did you feed all the animals?” Flutter shy asked.

       “Yes ma’am.” Red replied.

       “Is there anything ells I can help with?”

       “Well, there are a few things that I could use help with but…”

       “What are they?” Red asked eagerly.

       “I needed to get a few things from the market but I can’t really carry it all.”

       “I can help!” Red replied excitedly. Flutter shy smiled.

       “Okay then. Can you get my saddle bags for me?”

       “Yes mom. Wait no.”

       “What did you say?”

       “No uh nothing! It was an accident! I didn’t mean to say that I swear!” Red became scared and covered his eyes thinking that he would be in trouble.

       “Red…What’s wrong.”

       “Nothing…I’m fine.” He replied sounding like he was trying not to cry.

       “Red it’s okay.” Flutter shy uncovered his eyes.

       “I don’t mind that you said that.”

       “…I’m sorry. You just…you seem like a mother…your nice and…I’m just lonely.”

       “Red it’s okay-“

       “I’m sorry I…I just want a family.” He interrupted. He started crying.

       “I can be your family.”

       “What… Really?”

       “Mmhmm.”

       “So…You’ll be my mommy?”

       “Of course.” Red smiled and whipped away the rest of his tears as he ran up and hugged Flutter shy. After that he ran back inside to get her saddle bags.

       “Flutter shy!” Twilight yelled from a distance. She turned around and smiled at her as she approached.

       “Flutter shy we found some pony willing to adopt Red.”

       “Really…”

       “Yah now you don’t have to look after him anymore.”

       “…oh.”

       “What?”

       “Well..I kind of already adopted him.”

       “You what.”

       “I’m sorry but he was just so sad. He doesn’t have a family. No siblings, no cousins no family at all. And when I said I’d adopt him he just became really happy. So…”

       “So…?”

       “So I…I can’t give him away. He might get sad.”

       “Flutter shy you could have at least told us.”

       “I would of but it was just a few seconds ago.”

       “Mommy!” Red yelled as he came racing outside.

       “Found them.” He gave Flutter shy her saddle bags, and as she put them on Red noticed Twilight and started to hide behind Flutter shy.

       “Red…Red its okay it’s just Twilight.”

       “Yah don’t you remember me?”

       “…yah.” He said quietly .

       “What’s wrong then?” Flutter shy asked as she moved out of the way between the two of them.

       “You were in my dream…And you were trying to take me away from my mommy…” He answered as he went back to hiding behind Flutter shy.

       “What I would never do that-“

       “The why are you here!?” Red quietly shouted.

       “Well I just came to tell you that some pony agreed to take care of you.”

       “But I don’t want to go.”

       “Then you don’t have to.”

       “…Really?”

       “Of course not if you want to stay with flutter shy then go ahead.” Red smiled then hugged Flutter shy’s leg.

       “Well we’ll talk to you later were heading to the market.”

       “By Twilight.” Red called out as the two walked away. And just as Twilight started walking home she heard a voice.

       “Bring me my son!” She  looked around and saw that no pony ells was there.
