The Truth Beyond the Crystal
Getting Along
Previous ChapterYears passed and the young Sapphire Starlight grew up into a little filly. Though there was a problem with her hair. Sombra looked around a corner carefully, making sure to look towards the ceiling and the floor. He looked down st the other side of the hallway and walked down making sure not to make too much noise. He was almost at the other end of the hallway until he heard hoofs hitting against the crystal floor. He turned the corner pretending not to notice. He made his hoofsteps getting farthur away until it was silent. Then he crouched aroung the corner and then he heard little tappings against the floor. He saw a shadow coming his way, and then he saw his little sister's head appear around the corner. Sombra smiled at her and exclaimed."Got ya!"
Sapphire saw him as soon as she looked and fled down the hall. She tried to fly, but taking off wasn't as quick as others. She gave up and kept running. She turned left sliding against the floor and almost sliding into the wall. She kept running and use her wings to pick up speed, but her mane was so long that it made her trip. Sombra quickly came up behind her and breathed in heavy breaths.
"Can't you for once just do as you told and stay still." He pulled out scissors from his bag with his magic. Sapphire tried to run again, but Sombra had his hoof on her tail. She looked up at him with puppy eyes,"Do I have to get my mane cut?" Sombra just looked away.
"Don't play that game with me. That may work on Mom, but not me. Besides it's not like a real cut, just a trim so you don't trip as much." Sombra adjusted her head so that he could get a clear veiw of her mane. Sapphire frowned and sighed.
"Can't I at least get a proffesional to do my mane?" Sombra laughed and put down the scissors and took out a ribbon."Sapphire, I'm not really going to cut your hair. I'm just going to mark how long of a trim you need." He noticed Sapphire's frustration and felt irritated."I know how you like to keep your mane long, so it's not like I'm going to make you bald." Sapphire just moaned and paid no attention to Sombra. He did what he was suppose to do and tied a ribbon. He did the same with her tail. Then Sombra carried Sapphire Starlight in his magic while she just crossed her forearms.
"I can walk on my own. I don't need you to carry me." Sombra rolled his eyes and continued towards the hair-dresser. Then he felt the wieght of his sister lift. He looked back and saw his sister teleported out of his hold. Sapphire trotted past him and smacked his face with her tail."I told you, I can walk on my own!" Sombra was now getting angry with her stubborness, but remained cool. He followed her to make sure she didn't run off.
Then Sapphire turned and faced him and complained,"I don't want to walk any more." Sombra eyed her for a minute, but soon just trotted past her."So?"
Sapphire sat down and raised her muzzle to the air. Her eyes closed and answered."So carry me." Sombra looked back at her and bared his teeth. "What happened to 'I can walk on my own.' and such?" He asked through his teeth. Sapphire just calmly ordered." I want to be carried....NOW! I am tired and need a break."
Sombra felt a surge of heat enter his cheeks and felt his blood pump fast. He forcely picked her up with his magic and ran towards their destination. Sapphire started to get aggravated with him and commanded," Hey! Hold me gently!" But Sombra was too frustrated to hear and didn't pay attention on where he held her. She almost ran into walls, paintings, and some of the guards spears. Some guards called after him, but he didn't care. He just wanted to get his little brat out of his care.
Sapphire started to get scared." Sombra.." she started, but not even a change of posture. He just kept running. Sapphire was about to run into a crystal chandelier. She screamed out,"Sombra! Please stop!" Then she started to cry. This got Sombra's attention and he stopped and looked at her. Sapphire now had tears pouring down her cheek. Sombra couldn't believe he scared her that much just by running with her. He never meant for this to happen. He settled her down on the floor, and she just curled up into a ball.
Sombra tried to comfort her, but she backed at his touch. Sombra never wanted to be the one to make his sister cry. He took a deep breath and whispered," You know I would never hurt you right." Sapphire just looked up at him, still crying.
"I know," she tried to say. She felt that force that made you breath for air while crying, and it made it difficult for to talk." but..ugh...I was just so..*sniff*..scared." She placed her face back in her hooves and sobbed.
Sombra knew that something like that wasn't scary, but when you're a filly it's easy to get scared. Her mane was messy and her ribbons were out of place. Sombra didn't know what to do until the guards caught up with them. They took away Sapphire Starlight and escourted Sombra to his room. They told him he was to stay there until his parents arrived. So he waited for his parents to learn of what he has done.

The sun had fallen, and Sombra still felt guilty of the incident. He laid on his bed just thinking about it. He promised to be the best big brother ever, but this isn't what great brothers do to their little sisters. He almost drifted to sleep until he overheard the guard at the front door. Sombra placed his ear onto the surface to hear the conversation. He heard a scratchy voice and thought that it was one of the guards.
"Look, we can't let him out. He needs to be punished."
Then he heard a soft pitched voice. One that he knew too well. It was Sapphire Starlight.
"But I told you already that it's fine. He would never hurt anypony."
There was a long silence until he heard a struggle. He guessed that his stubborn sister wouldn't take no for an answer, but she probably gave up and walked away. Then heard something slide under the door. He looked down and saw a drawing and the guard shouted," Sapphire Starlight wanted to give you this." Sombra levitated the drawing and gasped at the picture.
It was crayon drawed. It had Sombra hugging Sapphire and had glittered words saying.
I now you didn't meen it.
I'm sorry for acting da way I did.
You are my one and only broder
And I love you.
Sombra smiled and chuckled at the spelling errors Sapphire made. Like how she spelled "know" as "now" and how she spelled "brother" as "broder". He placed the drawing amongst his purple covers and sighed. "Being a big brother is harder than I thought."
Then a knock at the door alarmed Sombra. Sombra was going to get up, but the guards just let themselves in. They stood near the doorway and made room for the opening. One of the guards motioned his hoof toward the hallway," King Obsidian and Queen Icewing are commanding your attendance in the throne room."
Sombra felt uneasy and wobbled to the door. Feeling his legs losing their strength at the thought of his parents commanding for his presence. Sombra wished his spikey mane was longer so that he could hide under it, but to his luck he kept it short. As they went down the hallway, Sombra wondered why he was so scared to see his parents. They were always understanding, but then again Sombra never scared his little sister. His thoughts raced back and forth until he noticed where he was. He was at the entrance way for the throne room, and he heard his father yell, " Come and join us Sombra. We need to talk."
