The Mist The Night Brings

"Hey are we almost there I don't like having to travel at night.  I always feel like I am being watched by something."

"Shut up we only have another mile before we enter the city limits and then you can stop your damn complaining.  Besides you have two guards here to save your worthless ass."

"Hey!  Just because I am a donkey doesn't mean you can call me an ass!"

"But he just did call you one?  Doesn't that defeat the point of saying that?"

What the hell is wrong with them?  I re-positioned myself on top of the tree and looked down at the scean unfolding before me.  Yet even with the two guards arguing with the mule they had a cart that was locked up and covered so you couldn't see inside.  Plus there usually isn't any traffic on the roads at night and most pony's are scared of the dark.  I broke a twig off of the tree I was on and threw it in front of the mule and couldn't help but snicker as he jumped back in surprise.

"Oh stop your whining it is just a stick."

"No!  It wasn't the stick I heard something!"

"He is right I heard it to.  Somepony was laughing, we are not alone."  Both the mule and the other sun guard looked at the moon guard.

"Sure leave it to a bot to hear somepony laughing as a stick falls to the ground.  Come on we are almost there and I just want to go to bed."  This was enough for the three of them to dismiss the situation and continued on their path.  I grinned.

Why don't they let me have fun?  This is going to make things difficult now... or is it?  I extended my wings and flew over the road to the other side and purposelessly dropped another stick on the road but this time it was much bigger.  When I landed on the tree's on the other side I quickly turned back to the road to see their reactions.

"I told you there was something here!"

"Oh be quiet and let the bat listen!"  They both turned to the moon guard and waited for him to respond as he slowly moved his ears back and forth.  I found this interesting for I do the same thing when I am listening for things, but not only that I think that he may have the same sensitive hearing as me?  I felt a smile start to creep onto my face as I started to set up some tests that I knew I used to try and keep my hearing sharp as well as test it.  I first silently moved to a different location and started to get to work.  I spoke in a low whisper but made sure it could be easily distinguished from the wind that blew through the tree's.

"You know of my presence but can you hear my words moon guard?"  I watched closely as the guards ears instantly moved to my location and saw the eye's of the guard look in my direction.  However the face that the guard wore dawned a grin and did not look very amused by what I had said.  I lightly chuckled at this for I was starting to enjoy this discovery.  I knew of the bat pony's manly being a nocturnal race but now they have sensitive hearing like me!

"Oh you can hear me!  This makes me happy moon guard!  I have not met any other with hearing like my own before!"  I covered my mouth for I had spoken a little to loud that time and moved to another location and used my own natural habits to literally disappear into the night.  I moved back over to the other side of the road again and went behind the group before getting settled down again.

"Alright I've heard you, now what do you want..."  The moon guard was talking only in a whisper and the other's could not hear what was said and was giving her confused looks.  She shushed them with his hoof and motioned them to keep going.

"I'm sorry I let my excitement get a hold of me, but I have never gotten to talk to another night walker before.  Let alone a female at least I believe you are one for your voice sounds feminine."  The moon guard grunted in anger and threw the first stick I dropped in my general direction.

"Why don't you come down here and say that to my face!"

"I take it you are not a female then?"

"My gender is not your concern!  Why have you left your post you should be guarding the moon goddess!"

"Well one I'm not a moon guard like you are but I am nocturnal have great hearing just like you!  Yet my sight is also very good  and I can see everything right now as if it where day for you.  But if said moon guards are suppose to protect the princess why are you here and not there?"

"That is not your concern."

"Hmm can we not have a decent conversation.  I really like that I am able to talk with another night walker."

"I'm not a night walker!  But if you are one then I should kill you!"

"But isn't a night walker just some'ling that prefers night over day?"

"Not even close!  It means that they only kill at night!"

"Well how is that fare if I am only awake at night?  The same goes for you to then, for if you have ever killed another it has been at night.  Therefor you are also a night walker."  The moon guard growled at me but also started to walk in my direction.  I chose to stay in my spot this time and wait until the last second to try and move to see if they can catch me.  Also I must know if it is a female!  But um for no real reason though its not like I'ed try to have sex or anything...  Wait is talking to yourself in your head the same thing as talking to yourself aloud?  I slapped myself in the face and quickly moved away to another spot before turning my attention back to the moon guard.

"Where did you go?!?!  I know you are still here somewhere!"  I could feel their aggression and hate towards me.

"I do not wish to upset you moon guard.  Please don't be mad at me anymore, I don't like it when some'ling is mad at me..."  The guard quickly turned around facing me and could clearly see me this time for their eye's locked onto mine.

"I am tired of dealing with this shit!  I can see you now get out of the damn tree right now or I am going to bucking kill you!  I am not playing this damn game anymore!"  I slowly moved down to the trunk of the tree and sat down but never took my eye's off of the guard.  The guard gave a loud grunt and started to make their way over to me but looked very unhappy.  My head lowered and my ears fell flat against my skull and I could not manage to lift either of them in between my body shacking.

God's why can't I calm down?  Just don't kill the them and everything will work out fine.  The wind then blew in my face and brought the guards sent to my snout almost causing me to fall over.  The smell that she gave off was not like something I have ever smelt before in my life.  It was even enough for me to come out of my shell and slowly start to walk towards her.

"Stop right there!  You are not going to come any closer to me! So stop right there!"  I didn't take my eye's off her for a second as she started to slowly walk around me while studying me every second.

"Ok bug give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now!?"  I couldn't keep my eye's off her and tried to keep myself from shifting to her flank and tried to stay focused.

"Your beautiful..."  She punched me in the snout and sent me back into the tree as well as being flung on my back.  I brought my hoof's up and held my snout and curled up into a ball trying to stop pain.  Yet she pushed me on my back again and made me look her in the eye's yet it was hard to see through the tears.

Not sure if I am crying though?

"Ok asshole I didn't like the way you where looking at me before but now I really want to kill you!  Tell me want so I can either kill you or go on my way!  I don't have all night either so don't make me chose for you!"

"Might I ask you your name?"  I felt a sharp pain in my groin and felt my balls being crushed.  I flung forward both in pain and instinct and tackled her to stop the pain.  When I realized what had happened she was looking in to my eye's but they where full of fear.  I pulled myself off of her quickly and slunk'ed down to the corner with my ears down looking at her sorrowfully.

"I-I sorry but you shouldn't have done that..."  She jumped up fast and pounced on me hitting me in the head hard and causing the world around me to grow dark.

"Pervert...."

I let out a loud yell in pain as I felt something burning me in my stomach as my eye's shot open and where met by an upside down world.  However the pain quickly stopped and I was turned upside right and was met with the face of the female moon guard from earlier.  Yet the burning in my stomach was also replaced by a cool and soothing pack of ice.

"I'm happy to see that you are awake again bug but am still mad at you.  Oh and my friends aren't to happy with you.  Oh and by the way we did some digging and found that you have been following caravans and other travelers that have been going through our little mountain pass to the city.  Would you kindly tell us what you where planning on doing?  Do you know of another attack on the city?"  I tried to think of a good way of answering her question but struggled at doing so and decided to simply tell the truth.

"Um well I made my home on top of the mountain and like to watch others go by and listen to them talk.  I also like to try and guess what is in the carts and such or why they are going to the city and make a small game out of it.  But I have stolen from some of the carts as well as the travelers."  I dropped my head down and refused to look any of them in the eye from then on.  Yet she didn't like my answer and I felt the hot pain again and let out another loud yell of pain.  This time they didn't take it away and I could even start to smell my burning flesh before they stopped.  She brought my head back up and made me look her in the eye's but this time I was crying as I looked at her.

"Ok lets try this again.  What are you doing in the mountains and when are they planing another attack!"

"I told you I live in the mountains and I don't mean any harm to any'ling!  But I don't know anything about an attack!  I never would either for others only try to kill me!"

"Oh and why is that?"  She brought a hot metal rod to my stomach and I felt the burning once again and spoke through gritted teeth.

"I am different!  They avoid me like I am some sort of illness with no cure and try to kill me whenever they get the chance.  I am a freak and have been abandoned since birth for being different from the rest!  So why don't you just bucking kill me because you are not going to be able to get any information that you want from me!"  Anger swells inside of me and I feel as if there is no way for it to ever be released and start to struggle violently.  I must have scared the female for she shot back and joined the other two guards that where at a safe distance from me.  Yet she left the metal rod on me.  I pinned my arm in a good position and broke it filling the room with both my screams and the sounds of my bone and chitin.  I then in one solid movement got my arm free and hit the metal rod hard and threw it across the room and at the guards who simply looked at me in shock and maybe even fear.  My body then went limp and I let out one last sigh that seemed to let all of my anger and even my pain out.  I closed my eye's and let the darkness that came with it cover me in a blanket of safety.  However I yelped in both pain and surprise as I felt an ice cold pain o my stomach and some of my chest but also my arm.  I kept my eye's closed and tried hard not to look to see what was happening so that I could try and stay in my blanket of darkness.

"Open your eye's bug."  I slowly opened my eye's and saw only the floor and a small pool of my own blood but had my head lifted and was soon looking into the eye's of the female again.  Yet I turned to see the other two guards taking the last three cuffs off of me.  Yet I felt my whole body be lifted into the air and was set down on a table of some sort and the wheeled into another room.  I was lifted again though and set down on a soft bed.

"Bug we are not going to kill you but we are going to keep you in captivity but are going to heal your wounds."  I gently nodded and felt something sink into my chitin on my neck and felt something be injected into me and quickly got tired.

"Sleep bug you will feel better when you awake."

I slowly opened my eye's and found that I was still in the same room as I was left in but there was a single difference.  I slowly turned my head to the side and saw that I was not alone in the room for there where also different beds and all had an injured pony on it.  But further more there was a bat sleeping on a chair next to the bed I was on.  I started to move and found that I still wasn't shackled and started to get up from the bed but fell back on the bed writhing in pain as I had forgotten about my arm.

"I didn't think that we would have to shackle you and I guess I was right.  It is day now but I was told to stay here and wait until you awoke.  Then again you are awake now so I can leave if you don't mind."  She got up from the chair and made her way to my bed and started to lie down on it instead of leave.  I started to tense up and move away from her so I don't get hurt again.

"Oh calm down, the sun is up and I'm not going to go out into the public I don't like the looks I get from other's.  If you don't mind I will be sharing you bed the chair was starting to hurt."  She brought herself close and pulled the blankets over the both of us and she turned her back to me to sleep.  Yet sleep is not an easy thing to do now...

Don't get hard, don't get hard, don't get ... hard.  Ok um just move away so that she doesn't get close enough to graze it.  I started to move away.

"Stop moving, your shacking the bed and making it hard to sleep."

Shit. shit, shit, shit, shit!  Ok just stay calm so that you don't cause her to move over you.  She shuffled and messed with her wings before lie'ing down again but brushed against something she wasn't suppose to on her way back to the bed.  She froze and didn't move for a whole minuet.

"Please tell me that this isn't your ..."

"It is..."

"So then you are?"

"Yeah..."

"Why me?  Gods why me?  Why is the only male attracted to me a bug..."

"I-I'm s-so sorry I-I..."

"Just save it ok ... I don't want to deal with it and am just going to try and sleep."  She went back down to the bed fully but her wings wouldn't go down.

"Um moon guard..."

"I am well aware ... But stop calling me moon guard and stop breathing on me..."  I then realized that I was practically on top of her and moved on to my back again and stared straight up at the ceiling.

"Could I at least have a name if I am not to call you moon guard."

"Sharp Cluss..."

"Sh-Sharp Cluss?"

"Yeah when I was a filly my ears where pointy as well as a very high pitched voice so they decided to call me sharp.  Cluss is just short for clutz.  Somepony's like to say I am the long lost sister of some mall mare they call Derpy."  She turned over and was now looking at me and slowly made her way closer to me.

"Listen I know that this is probably going to well ... you know what I mean right?  Never mind that anyway um but w-what is your name?"  I stayed focused on the ceiling and tried my hardest not to pounce on her.

"I have a lot of names right now I just go by Mist"

"I guess I get it.  Your eye's kinda remind me of like a fog or something close to that."  She brought herself on top of me and looked into my eye's blushing deeply.  It was now that I realized she wasn't wearing any of her armor and she truly did look beautiful.  She had soft golden eyes and even softer fur which was a dark grey and different than the other two guards from earlier.  Her ears looked like pony's but had some sort of nicks in them but in all looked just like any other bat pony's ear's.  Her mane was a sort of silver with a white streak in it and it sort of lulled to the side of her face.

"Listen I'm most likely making a big mistake by doing this with you but when you said I looked beautiful and I punched you in the face.  By the way I was going to do that no matter what you answer was.  But anyway the way you said it ... You where the first one to say that to me since my mother and the way you said it and the look you had.  I knew that you believed it more than I did.  Lastly I'm not going to have sex with you I just want to be close."  She looked away and a frown started to make its way on her face.

"By Celestia look at me.  I'm ready to practically buck you just because you said I looked pretty.  I'm a bucking royal guard of the Princess of the night and I'm put into a lust frenzy by a few fancy words.  Great now I'm even telling you all of this shit that I was suppose to be saying in my head.  That's just great!  What next I run off and live with you in the bucking mountains and everything just goes so bucking well and shit.  'sigh' Listen this was a really bad idea I think that I am going to just go and drink until I forget all of this shit ever happened.  Nice knowing you bug..."  She started to get up but I pulled her back down and hugged her tightly with my good arm and did my best to wrap my wings around her but failed in doing so.

"I don't think that you are a clutz?  You seemed to find me very well and not once did you screw up and now you haven't made any mistakes either."  She started to hug he back and buried her head into my chest but had her mane covering my snout filling it with her sweet sent.

"Congratulations me I just did exactly what I said was going to bucking end up happening..."

"What?"

"When you are healed one I am going to buck you silly.  Two I am going to follow you around.  Three I'm going to buck you silly again."

"I'm ok with that..."
