Flare: a young working buck who is awfully self-conscious about his sexual orientation. While his friends are confident about their sexual orientation, and talk about mares constantly, Flare happens to be a lot different. Unfortunately finding love has never been easy for Flare – due to him being possibly the only pony who takes a liking to other stallions in Ponyville, he finds it hard to build up to courage to tell his friends about his orientation.
When a new stallion flies his way into town, Flare notices they share similar characteristics due to them both being shy and awfully quiet about their personal life. But on one evening, Flare decides to open up to his new friend, hoping that the new face would do the same.
