“MOMMY DADDY LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!” A young blue filly called to her parents who turned to see what she was doing. The filly closed her eyes and started to flare her wings a little before she started buzzing them a little and tried to pick herself up and after a few moments she finally picked herself off the ground and hovered a few inches from it.

“That’s amazing sweetie!” Her mother said happily, making the filly smile even brighter.

“I’m impressed. Now come on Rainbow, lunch is ready.” Her father said, making the filly come back onto the ground and run up to her parents. She leaped to her father who simply grabbed her with open arms and placed her on his back.

“So what’s for lunch daddy?” The filly asked.

“Egg Chow Mein with Rice Dumplings.” He said, making the filly’s stomach growl. The father just smiled. “And it sounds like we’re gonna have it just in time to. Because somepony’s hungry aren’t you Rainbow?” The father jokingly asked the filly who nodded eagerly. They soon sat down in a neighponese style table that was covered in food trays.

“Rainbow, how about you say grace today before we eat?” Her mother asked.

“Alright mommy.” The filly said as she lowered her head, closed her eyes, and placed her hands together. “Celestia, we bless you for this food we’re about to eat that you’ve graced us with. May your sun watch over us as it shines happiness in our lives.” She prayed, finishing with ‘Amen’. Soon after they began to eat and the food just melted in Rainbow’s mouth. It was some of her dad’s best moments with cooking and he didn’t disappoint her today.

“So Rainbow how was your day honey?” The mother asked her.

“It was nice. Those meanies at flight school are still picking on me though.” She replied, causing her father to give a concerned look.

“Did you do what I said to do?” He asked.

“No. I was too scared to do it daddy.” She replied. The father simply sighed as he rubbed his daughter’s head.

“Don’t worry. One day, you’ll be brave enough to take on a manticore.” He said, making her smile.

“Thanks daddy.” She said as she took another dumpling into her mouth. Pure heaven she was eating. Before they could continue there was a phone ringing from the kitchen.

“I’ll get it. Probably Grandpa again Dashie don’t worry.” Her father said with a smile. The moment he picked up the phone though he knew something was wrong.

“Blitz I don’t have much time. You’ve got to get Rainbow and Bifrost out of there now.” The voice told him in a worried tone. Blitz’s eyes widen as he dropped the phone. He soon soon ran back to the dining room with a scared look on his face. “Honey pack what you can. We’re leaving now.” He told his wife.

“Why? What’s-”

“Please don’t argue and get everything valuable. We need to go. He’s coming.” Blitz said, causing Bifrost to get up and start to grab everything important to them.

“Daddy, what’s going on?” Rainbow asked her dad.

“Rainbow sweetie, we need to leave for a while. Go get your teddy bear and your blanket.” Blitz said, making the filly get up and go to her room. She looked around a bit before she found her teddy bear and her blanket. She ran back downstairs to see her parents packing their clothes along with Blitz carrying two swords at his side.

“Daddy why do you have swords?” Rainbow asked.

“Rainbow, go with mommy and run. Run as fast as you can away from here.” Blitz ordered.

“But-”

“Just do what I say okay?” He asked.

“Alright.” She said as she met with her mother who had a suitcase with her.

“Ready Rainbow? When I open this door, we need to run okay sweetie?” Her mother asked. Rainbow simply nodded. Slowly, Bifrost opened the door and saw a black car approach the house. “Damn it. I thought we had time. Come on Rainbow!” Bifrost yelled as her wings flared as she grabbed Rainbow. They soon were in the air and flying as far away from the house as they could. Rainbow looked back and soon heard it…. gunfire. The sound of several machine guns going off at the same time was heard as Rainbow cried out “DADDY!”.

“Don’t look Rainbow!” Her mother said, causing the filly to close her eyes as tightly as she could.

“THERE THEY ARE! SHOOT THEM DOWN!” She heard a voice shouted. Her eyes opened only to see her mother scream in pain as a red liquid came out from behind her back.

“MOM-” Was all she could get out before the two crashed into the ground. Badly, Rainbow was unconscious and could only hear voices.

“Where is it?”

“G-go to tartarus and burn there.” A slap was heard.

“Don’t test me nag! Now I’m going to ask you again. Where. Is. It?” Rainbow heard as she slowly opened her eyes.

“I don’t know! My husband hid it! You should’ve kept him alive to find out!” She heard her mother shout angrily.

“You’re lying. Now, you either tell me where it is… or else I plant one in your filly.” Rainbow was suddenly aware of a cold pressure on her right temple.

“Y-you wouldn’t.” Her mother begged as tears entered her eyes.

“Do you want to try me?”

“NO! Let her go! I’ll tell you anything! Please just don’t hurt her.” Bifrost begged.

“Alright. Now we’re getting somewhere. Where is it?” The voice asked.

“I-It’s hidden in the mountains. In a cavern. T-That’s all I know. P-Please leave me and my filly alone!” She begged.

“I’m sorry. But you outlived your usefulness.” The voice said as the sound of a gunshot was heard.

“I got away soon after but I never did figure out who that bastard was. Twilight he ruined my whole life when all my parents wanted was for me to live a normal life.” Rainbow told her.

“Rainbow… I’m so sorry.” Twilight said as a tear fell from her cheek.

“It’s not your fault. It’s the voice’s owner. I swore to my parents’ graves that I’d find him and do to him what he did to my parents.” Rainbow growled as she punched the wall.

“Rainbow, I could help you. If you wanted, I could read your mind and see if I can track that voice to a pony that lives today.” Twilight told her. Rainbow looked at her incredulously.

“R-really? You would do that for me?” Rainbow asked her. Twilight nodded as she gave a small smile.

“I would Rainbow. You deserve some closure.” Twilight said as she placed a hand on her head. With a quick flash of her horn, Twilight began to scan her memory. She traced through everypony she’s ever met and found it. When she was done, she removed her hand and simply stared at Rainbow.

“Well… who was it?” Rainbow asked. Twilight simply gave her a frowned look.

“I… I don’t know. That voice doesn’t sound like anypony you or I know about. I’m so sorry I couldn’t-”

“I-it’s fine Twilight. I just… I’m gonna find Trixie and see if she placed the hit on you.” Rainbow said as she put her ninja gear back on.

“Rainbow wait!” Twilight yelled. But she was too late as Rainbow leaped out of the window and flew into the sky.

I’m sorry.
