The Dark Guardians
A new arrival
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRainbow flew through the air as she wiped the tears trying to escape her eyes. Recently she had told Twilight who she was and what caused her to become the mare she was today. Twilight repaid her honesty by trying to find the owner of a voice that kept replaying in Rainbow’s help but failed. When she learned this Rainbow decided she should try and locate Trixie, a mare with a well known grudge against Twilight Sparkle, and see if she was responsible for placing a hit out on her. She leaped across the rooftops with ease, looking through the alleys and streets for Trixie or any sign of her. She looked and looked but yet… no sign of her. That was until she saw something. Leaping down into an alley, she found a piece of shirt that was stained red with blood. She then saw a small dribbling trail of blood that lead out of the alley. A moment later she placed her mouth guard over her face and walked down to find the source of the trail. She continued along the trail, keeping to the shadows all the way, and soon came across a mare with light blue fur and a silver mane crying her eyes out as she held her arm as it was bleeding.
“Trixie Lulamoon.” She said, gaining the mare’s attention.
“W-What do you want with Trixie?” She asked as tears dribbled from her eyes and onto her bleeding arm, making her wince at the stinging.
“Who do this to you?” Rainbow asked.
“A t-thug tried to rob me b-but he only slashed my arm. N-Now unless you’re going to kill me or help me, leave me alone.” Trixie replied. Rainbow felt a little pity for the mare who tried to ruin her life so she extended a hand to her. “W-what?”
“I’m not going to hurt you. Now will you come with me?” She asked. Trixie seemed a little wary around her with this proposal but took her hand anyways. “Good. Now hold on tight while I get us to a nearby roof.” She said as she place Trixie on her back and started to leap up the fire escape of a building. Trixie held on as tightly as she could while Rainbow leaped up the rusty stairs. After a few jumps, the two were on the building’s roof and the pegasus placed the mare on her back down. While she did this Rainbow pulled out a bandage and wrapped it around Trixie’s arm.
“T-thank you.” Trixie said.
“It’s nothing. Now if you will just hold still this is gonna hurt.” Rainbow told her as she prepared to tighten the bandage. With a tug, Trixie let out a sharp gasp as Rainbow tightened the bandage, making her wince.
“I apologize. But this is to make sure the bleeding stops.”
“Trixie understands. B-But why help me?” She asked.
“I need to know a few things from you. What do you know about Princess Twilight Sparkle?” Rainbow asked.
“Besides that she’s a good friend? She helped me with overcoming my jealousy and everything else. Plus, she was a good marefriend for a while.” Trixie told her. Rainbow suppressed a short giggle at this. It was true that Trixie and Twilight were a thing once but circumstances had forced them to seek other companions though it seemed that Trixie received the bad end of the split up.
“That’s all I needed to hear.” Rainbow said. Before she could leave however she felt something tug at her suit. She turned and saw Trixie with a confused look.
“Why did you ask Trixie that question?”
“Just needed to know some things.” Rainbow replied as she leaped off of the roof and began to run across the others. She ran until she felt something zoom past her ear. She turned and saw a ninja star sticking out of an air conditioning unit. “What the-” before she could finish her statement she felt a fist glide across her face as she turned around and saw a pale white ninja staring right at her.
“A descendant of Riochi Dash I understand?” The ninja asked and Rainbow knew instinctively it was a mare even though she tried to make her voice sound like a stallion. After all she had to do the same thing several times as well.
“That would be me. And who is asking?” Rainbow asked back.
“Just a ninja looking for a challenge. And I chose you. Now, let’s begin!” The white ninja said as she got into a fighting stance. Rainbow huffed as she did the same thing. The battle started with the white ninja charging Rainbow and tried to land a kick but the pegasus grabbed the mare’s leg and flung her into the air conditioning unit, making it crumble like paper.
“That’s an acolyte mistake. With the way you were talking I didn’t expect you to make it.” Rainbow smirked.
“Then you need to be more aware of your surroundings.” The ninja told her as she pointed to the ground under Rainbow’s feet. Right between her legs was a shuriken but Rainbow recognized that this variant could blow up.
“Oh buck!” She shouted just as she jumped to the side and narrowly avoided the explosion. “Nice try. But it’ll be a while before I go out with a bang.” Rainbow said as she ran to the white mare and landed a hard blow to her stomach. The white mare countered by grabbing Rainbow’s wings, pulling the mare over her head and slammed her into the roof, only to have it collapse, making them fall through the old and condemned building. Rainbow glided down and soon landed on her hooves as she saw the mare also do so but with a certain… elegance to them.
“Hmph. Not exactly how I wanted us to continue our fight but it will have to do.” The ninja told Rainbow as she pulled out a short katana. Rainbow returned the motion by pulling out her kusari-gama and twirled the metal ball end a little. Rainbow swung the ball around in a circle, hoping to hit the mare but only made her ball ting off her katana. The mare threw her weapon and it made a lucky strike as it impaled her leg. Rainbow screamed in pain as her leg soon started to flow with a familiar crimson liquid.
“Oops.” The mare said. Rainbow growled as she switched her weapon and swung the blade, slashing the mare’s stomach. It wasn’t fatal but she knew it was gonna hurt her for a while.
“Y-you’re not half bad. Better than the last ninja who fought me anyways. The only thing left of him was his head by the time I was done.” Rainbow told the mare. “N-now do yourself a favor and go h-home now.” She ordered the mare who giggled a little.
“I-it was an…. interesting encounter to say the least descendant of Riochi. I-I must say it was more fun than what I thought it would be. W-we will meet again.” She told Rainbow as she tossed a smoke grenade at her feet. When the mare was gone, Rainbow yanked the katana out of her leg and limped over to a chair. She sat down and grabbed her phone out and dialed 9-1-1.
9-1-1 what’s your emergency? A stallion’s voice asked on the receiving end.
“Yeah I would like to report an injured pony on the rooftop of the apartments on Nimbus and Stratus street. Medical assistance is needed.” She told the stallion. She flared her wings and flew out the hole the other ninja caused by tossing her through it.
“I hope Fluttershy knows how to stitch up holes.”
Meanwhile on a nearby roof, somepony was watching Rainbow fly. She had a shade of greenish blue fur and a lightning blonde mane and tail. Her outfit was almost like an upgraded version of Fluttershy’s outfit as the normally leather portions were now metallic and her mouth guard was a gleaming yellow. She had bright yellow eyes that kept on the cyan blue mare.
“Soon… I shall be with you again. Soon, I can reveal myself to you… sister.”
