Author's Note

Hello again! Here's the next chapter, and a little over 10,000 words. It also has a clop scene involving Twilight, shower, and a little back door action. *Eyebrow wiggle* I hope you guys (and girls maybe?) enjoy it, I know I enjoyed writing this chapter. Ending was a little meh to me, it was late at night and I had barely any sleep when I wrote it, but whatever.

But anyways, I will be working on a short one off Coco Pommel x Sweetie Belle clop fic that someone suggested before. I already have how it will happen, just have to write it.

Also, if anyone would like to pre read any new chapters for me, point out some mistakes or things I should change, just PM me and we will try and figure something out. (Still trying to figure how this site works fully)

Working the Farm

As I slowly awoke, I felt something move in my grasp. I was warm, and whatever was pressed against, my chest was warm as well. I wrapped my arm tighter around it, and it stopped moving. “Good morning Nick.” I smiled. Twilight... I could wake up like this everyday. I let out a small yawn, slowly opening my eyes to see Twilight looking back at me.

“Good morning beautiful.” I said in a quiet, raspy voice, a small blush spreading across her cheeks. I was on my back and she was on top of me, her right hoof over my left shoulder, her left hoof went over my other side and her cheek was resting on my shoulder. I leaned in and pecked her on the tip of the nose, electing a small giggle from the alicorn. “I'm going to love it here, waking up everyday next to you.” I said again in a quite voice.

Twilight smiled, nuzzling into my shoulder and neck, her horn lightly brushed the side of my head. “Mmm, me too.” I closed my eyes and gently rubbed her lower back with my left hand. After a couple minutes or so, when I was more awake, I remembered the promise I made to Applejack.

“Sorry to cut this short Twi, but I promised Applejack I would be at the farm by sunrise.” Twilight sighed, wiggling a little and let out a cute noise while shaking her head to the side a little. I smiled and, using my right arm I pushed myself up, but Twilight clung to me, refusing to let go. I just stood up and she grabbed harder.

“Noooo.” She said in a cute little tired voice, much like a child would say and I sighed, putting my left arm around her back and picked up the only clothes I owned with my right hand, then walked down the stairs into the main room of the library. “Nooo go back to bed, please?” Twilight said, moving her hoof off my shoulder and pointed behind me, lightly flicking her hoof as if trying to reach the bed.

I just chuckled and shook my head. “No can do Twilight, I have a promise to keep, besides, Applejack needs me.” Twilight sighed and hugged me tightly while sighing.

“Ahh, fine...” I smiled and walked over to the small sitting/laying area. Once there, I pulled Twilight and put her down on it before I sat down myself. Twilight sat there, looking a little grumpy. “You owe me mister.” Was all she said and I glanced over at her, noticing a small blush on her cheeks.

I put my pants on, then my socks and went for the shirt, putting it over my upper body, making sure I put it on the right way. “There we go.” I picked up my left shoe, slipping it on, then put on my right shoe. “Well, I'll see you when I get home Twi.” I grabbed my sweater then I looked over at her and she just smiled at me.

“Have a good day.” I leaned over and gave her a little kiss on the lips before I stood up and headed for the door. I opened it and stepped out into the dark, early morning. It was a little cold so I put my sweater on, zipping it up to around my sternum, then pulled the sleeves halfway up my arms before I set out towards Sweet Apple Acres.

The walk was nice and quiet, the sun just started coming up over the trees as I first stepped foot onto the property. As I neared the barn, I noticed Applejack step out of the house, her eyes going over to me and she smiled, waving a hoof in my direction. “Howdy Nick!” I smiled and waved back, coming up closer towards the barn as she headed there herself. “Again, thank ya so much for comin along.” She opened the door and I followed her inside.

“It's not a problem Applejack, anything to help a friend in need out, heck, I know you would of done the same for me.” As my eyes adjusted to the little light that was inside the barn, I noticed a cart with a bunch of bushel for apples, stacked onto the back of it. It seemed to be modified slightly, instead of fitting over say Applejack's back, it looked like it could go over my shoulders. “I'll be pulling thins huh?”

I walked over and examined the modifications, there even seemed to be pads where the wooden parts would go over my shoulders. “Yea, I had Big Mac modify one of our carts...”

“And ah helped too!” A little fillies voice spoke up behind us, making me turn around to see Applejack's little sister, Apple bloom. I smiled and bent down as the little filly galloped over to me.

“Hey Apple Bloom, long time no see!” She then jumped at me, knocking me over onto my back. “Oof! Man, are you getting bigger? You've grown a lot since I last saw ya.” I smiled and she giggled before hopping off me. “Trying to get your cutie mark in cart modifications?” I asked and Apple Bloom sighed and nodded, hanging her head a little low.

“Yea, ah didn't get it though...” The little yellow filly pouted and I smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder.

“Don't worry, you'll get it one day. I know it.” I smiled as the filly looked up at me and smiled a little herself.

“Y'all mean it?” I nodded, noticing Big Mac enter the barn behind Apple Bloom.

“Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake, in my eye.” I kept eye contact with her as I did the moments that accompanied a Pinkie Promise. Apple Bloom smiled and hugged me as tightly as she could.

“Not wantin ta ruin the moment, but ah need to get y'all ta school li'l sis.” Big Macs deep voice broke Apple Bloom out of her little trance and she looked back at her brother, before glancing up at me.

“Uh, Mister Nick? Do you think y'all could take me to school?” She asked in the cutest little voice, her pupils getting huge, her lower lip quivered as she begged. I still don't understand how they can do that...

I smiled and nodded. “But of course, as long as Applejack and Big Mac say it's ok.” I looked at the two older ponies, both glancing at the other before smiling.

“Sure sugarcube, just head on back here when you're done.” Apple Bloom gasped and started to lightly hop on top of my chest.

“Yes! Ah'll get my stuff!” With that, the little yellow filly hopped off me and ran over to grab her saddlebags. I got to my feet, brushing off the small amount of dirt that I got on the back of me and shot a smile at Applejack.

“I'll be back as soon as I'm done.” Applejack returned my smile, nudging her head towards Apple Bloom.

“Come on Mister Nick!” I chuckled and jogged towards the door where the small filly was lightly hopping in excitement. Once I reached the door, she started to gallop away and I felt a nice, happy feeling as I started after her.

I could of easily out run her, she was really tiny compared to me, but I didn't run, only a slow jog and I kept up with her. Taking a glance around, we were getting closer to town, the school house was across from us on the other side of town so we would be sure to bump into... I looked right, noticing the Carousel Boutique and out stepped Sweetie Belle and... Rarity. Crap, I forgot all about that... I gave her proposal a little thought, and Twilight agreed to it too.

“Hiya Sweetie Belle!” Apple Bloom galloped over to her fellow classmate and friend. The white filly's eyes got a little wider, a grin spreading across her face.

“Hey Apple Bloom” Her voice cracked a little and she raced towards us, closing the gap between the two friends even quicker. “Have you seen Scootaloo?” She asked when they were a couple feet from each other, both slowing to a halt.

A small buzzing noise then started to fill my ears, and I knew only one source for the sound. I turned my head and smirked as the orange, purple and blue blob came over the horizon. Scootaloo came quick, her little wings flapping hard behind her, the scooters wheels rolling over the smoothed dirt quickly. Once she seen us, she crouched down a little more and speed up, most likely trying to impress all of us.

She came quick, jumping with the scooter and then spun the deck around before landing back on top of it. After that trick, she jumped off before landing back onto her scooter. I was shocked a little, that was impressive to say the least, considering how easily it would be to mess it up. She then skidded to a halt right in front of us and leaned on her handlebars. “Sup?” She grinned and I did the same.

“You got some guts girl.” I crossed my arms. “But jumping off the scooter?” Scootaloos ears then dropped a little and I smirked. “How about doing a flip too?” Scootaloo perked up at that.

“Wow, that would be harder! Doing a mid air flip!” Her grin got wider as she pondered the possibilities of doing a front flip.

“Ahem, if you're done giving her advice to hurt herself, it's almost time for school.” Rarity reminded us and I resisted the urge to face palm.

“Da-- rn.” I cut myself off from giving the three fillies any words that they would repeat. I then looked down at Apple Bloom. “I gotta get you to school then head back to the farm.” At these words, Rarity jumped a little as if an idea came to her.

“Oh, you're working on the farm?” She looked at my current clothes and a frown went over her face. “Oh no, those won't do at all!” Her eyes then met mine. “If you take Sweetie to school and stop back here, I can have a set of work clothes for you.”

I opened my mouth to protest, and say what I had was fine but I kept it shut and nodded. “Sure, I can do that.” Rarity then closed her eyes and tilted her head to the side.

“Splendid! I shall get to work right away! Taa Taa~” She waved a forehoof before entering the Boutique. I then turned my attention back to the three fillies.

“Well, let's get going.” We all then set out for the Schoolhouse, the three fillies talking about their latest plans to get their cutie marks. It was quite amusing to listen to the adventures these three get up to on a daily basis, some of their antics were pretty tame, but there would sometimes be the odd one where they went a little overboard.

Once such one was how they tried water skiing. They built a small boat and got Scootaloo to propel it with her wings like she does with her scooter. Let's say it ended before it started, Scootaloo didn't have enough power to bring the other two up to enough speed, so when the ropes around the others went tight, Sweetie Belle got flung into the shallow water, Apple Bloom as an earth pony is much heavier then Scootaloo so the boat went up and over. They stayed away from anything like that from then on out.

Soon enough, we arrived at the Schoolhouse, other fillies, colts, some with parents and some just playing or talking to others. “Alright then, there you go. I'll catch you girls later.” The three of them waved me off and I did the same, my mind set on heading back to Rarity's place.

After about ten more minutes of walking, my eyes fell onto the Boutique. I sighed as I approached the door and knocked. “Come in!” I opened the door and stepped inside, making sure to duck as I came in. The door was about a foot and a half too short, thankfully most ponies had tall ceilings. “Ah, there you are darling! I finished your clothes for work, here!” I looked over at Rarity as she levitated me over the garments she made.

A red plaid shirt, blue jeans? What next? Cowboy boots and a- I got cut off from my thoughts as boots were place on top of what I had, and a hat was placed on my head.. “Rarity, don't you think this is a litt-”

She cut me off and smiled, moving a changing screen in front of me. “Nonsense! You will very much look the part of a cowpo-er... Cow... Uhh...” She trailed off and I sighed.

“Cowboy. Fine, I'll wear them.” I started to remove my old clothes and quickly got dresses into the new duds she made me. It felt right to be in clothes like these again as I pulled the boots on, they even had spurs on the back, each making a little noise as I stepped in them. The blue jeans were a little tighter then what I was used to, I usually dressed in a little more baggy clothing, but it fit all the same. I even had a length of rope attached to my side with a little clip. I rolled the sleeves up near my elbows and put the Stetson atop my head. It was a white hat, with the edges slightly curved up, with a two little dips on the very top. I tightened the black belt I had on, admiring myself in the mirror. “Now all I need is a sprig of wheat.” I smirked at myself and ran my fingers on my left hand across the brim of my hat.

“Oh wow...” I turned around to see a blushing Rarity. “I knew it was going to look good, but not like that.” I just smiled and put my thumbs in the sides of my belt.

“Well little lady, I'm gonna have to thank ya'll for these here duds.” I tipped my hat and spoke in my old accent. Rarity trembled a little and bit her lower lip.

“Oh wow, you speak just like Applejack does.” I just nodded and stuck my hands in my pockets leaving the thumbs out.

“Well lassy, I was raised in a little ol country town back home.” I then stifled a chuckle before I cleared my throat. “Man, I haven't spoke in that accent in a while. But anyways, thanks Rarity.” Rarity smiled and I bent down, putting my hand on her shoulder. “I thought about what you said last night.” Rarity tensed up a little as I continued. “And, I should be free Friday night.” I added a smile to the end, her beautiful azure eyes lit up and she hugged me.

“Thank you so much, but you must get back to work now, I will talk to you later ok?” I broke the hug and nodded before I headed out the door leaving with a wave. As I crossed town, I got quite a couple of looks and stares, murmuring and whispered filled my ears.

I then passed a aquamarine unicorn who was looking me over. “Mornin.” I said, tipping my hat downwards a little. Curse you brain... Her gamboge eyes snapped to my eyes and her mouth opened a little. Her mane was a light cyan colour with white highlights, and her cutie mark was a lyre.

“M-morning...” She managed to squeak out, and she stopped walking as I passed her.

That was odd... Oh well, I better get back to the farm and fast or Applejack 'll have my hide... Dammit brain! I soon found myself at the opening of the farm again and was quick to get onto the property. “Can I help you mister?...” I heard Applejack say from my left and I turned around, making her jaw drop a little.

“Howdy Applejack.” I smirked. Whatever, roll with it. Her emerald green eyes looked at me from my boots to my hat before she smiled.

“Woo whee! That is some nice getup y'all got there!” She trotted closer, getting a better look at my clothes. “Well, anyways, me and Mac got the fields, but there are some things that need a fixin, here.” She trotted over towards the barn and I followed her, the spurs on my boots lightly clicking as I walked. Once inside, she was already writing out a list and soon finished it before passing it to me. “Just do everythin on the list ok? That should keep you busy for quite a while.”

I nodded and looked at the somewhat hard to read words. “Alright then, I'll get started I suppose.” Applejack smile and nodded, trotting out of the barn, giving me a slight look out of the corner of her eye as she left.

I smiled to myself a little, looking at the first thing on the list. “Arrange the tools. Easy.” I walked over to a corner of the barn and found the tool rack. It was a little bit of a mess, they usually didn't use anything over here but when they did, it was important.

First thing I did was remove my hat and hang it on a small nail before I set to work. I then removed all the tools off the wall and the table and out from the drawers. I then arranged them and began to put them back, pairing screwdrivers together, making sure to keep star head and flat head separate. Then I put up all the bigger tools, saws, hatchets and a big axe, most likely meant for Big Mac to use.

Once I put all the tools back, I burnt like an hour or so, picking the list up again and I put my hat back onto my head. “Alright, what's next?” I looked down and read the next thing I had to do. “Fix broken axle on cart.” I took a deep breath and put the list into my pocket before I went outside to inspect what needed to be done.

Right outside, I noticed that there was a cart with the right wheel laying on the ground next to it, a half an axle laying next to it. I lifted the cart and took a look underneath. “Easy enough.” I then headed back into the barn to get some tools.

It took me about two hours to get the new axle onto the cart and made sure everything was greased. Once I was satisfied, I wiped the sweat off my forehead, the hat I had on really helped with blocking the brunt of the sun. I then took the list out and read the next thing. “Get Rainbow out of “her” tree.” I smirked and looked over the fields. If she didn't change trees, it should be... ah ha! I quickly noticed the blue mare against the brown, red and green of the trees.

I walked over to the tree the rainbow maned pegaus was currently napping in. She had a small pillow behind her head, her left hindhoof was hanging a little and it twitched occasionally as she snored quietly through her nose. Seeing how I was much bigger then most ponies, the branch was almost at head level. I reached up and pinched the end of her nose shut. I felt her try and breathe before she snorted a little then opened her mouth and woke up, moving a hoof to her nose. “H- hey?!” She said in a sleepy voice.

“Come on Rainbow, time to get out of the tree.” I paused for a second, letting her wake up a little more. “You're lucky I didn't yank you out of that tree, I did consider it.” I smiled and she looked at me, her eyes looking over my clothes and she smiled a sleepy smile.

“Hey, if a stud like you is going to wake me up, then so be it.” I rolled my eyes as she sleepily flirted with me. I then grabbed her hindhoof and pulled making her yelp and wrap her forelegs around the tree. “Hey! I was kidding!” I just chuckled at Rainbow and stood back a little.

“Sorry, couldn't resist Rainbow. Besides, I'm kinda taken already.” This revelation made her stop trying to scramble back onto the branch and she snapped her head towards me.

“What?!” She looked me in the eye to see if I was lying, and I just smiled and nodded while rubbing the back of my head a little.

“Yea, me and Twilight are together.” Rainbow looked.... Well, let's just say, I could almost see the crushing in her eyes.

“Wha? A- are you serious?” I winced slightly before nodding, she just blinked a couple times, her magenta eyes getting wider and wider. “What?....” She said softly, almost in a squeaky voice.

I sighed. “I'm sorry Rainbow, I don't have time to explain my relationships right now, I have work to do, so could you please go nap somewhere else?” Rainbow closed her eyes and wiped her face a little.

“Y-yea. I'll get going.” And with that, she grabbed her pillow before zooming off, leaving a small rainbow trail in her wake. I felt a sinking feeling in my chest.

“Man I sure can fuck things up.” I sighed again and shook my head, getting back to the task at hand. I took the list out of my pocket. “Clean the wind-.”

“CATTLE STAMPEDE!!!” Applejack's voice rang across the orchard and I looked up, Applejack and her dog, Winona were running aside a huge group of cattle. She looked over and noticed me, moving her head in a way that said 'help me!'

I dropped the list and took off, I pushed my hat down snugly onto my head, the metal spurs spinning slightly as I moved, running at an angle so I would be at the front when I met up with the mob. “Applejack!? What the hell?” I said as soon as I reached the other side of the cattle.

“Ah don't know! They must of gotten spooked again!” She then glanced forward before smiling. “And y'all have a fence to fix now.” I wanted to groan but I just focused on running, not wanting to get run over by a bunch of cows.

“So what's the plan?” I asked Applejack as Ponyville came up over the horizon. “We ain't got much time left.” I glanced over at the orange farmpony.

“Winona! You make sure none get lose ok?” Her dog barked in acknowledgement. My feet started to hurt, these boots weren’t broken in yet so running like this was starting to hurt. “Alright, Ah need you to cross over here, make sure none make it into town while I move them away.”

“Got it.” I wasn't sure if I could run much faster and keep up, if I went all out, I would of exhausted myself to much. But thankfully there was only one cow in the front and I started to come into her side before I jumped over the small cow, almost losing my balance as I hit down again. “Jesus! There!”

Applejack got up beside me. “Alrighty now, ah'm gonna try and move them off.” We were getting ever closer, I could start to make out ponies in the small crowd that stopped to look at us.

“Get out the way!!” I yelled at the top of my lungs, and the ponies moved out of the way just in case something went wrong. “Go for it Applejack!” Applejack then rammed one over and over, and slowly but surely they all started to turn.

My heart sank, the lead cow did not turn with the rest and Applejack had to keep with the rest, so it was my job to get this one. As I tried to gain on it, I felt tired, my legs were a little numb, my lungs burned for oxygen and I knew I wouldn’t catch it. The an idea came into my head. “No you fucking don't.” I said between breaths and took the rope I had attached to my side off and, to my luck it was already in a loop. I then tied a smaller one on the other end so it could wrap around my forearm as I didn't want to let go.

Once I secured it around my arm, I wound up and started spinning the rope, slowly the cow got more ground on me, almost at the bridge and... I noticed a purple pony standing in the square, staring wide eyed at me. Twilight! I grit my teeth and threw the lasso. Time slowed as the rope wobbled in the air, slowly making it's way down, lower and lower before... I pulled, the rope was right around the cows chest and I stopped running, digging my heels into the dirt.

I was only a couple feet from the cow and we hit the bridge and I got a quick idea. I ran as hard as I could and at the apex of the bridge I jumped and.... I grunted as me and the cattle hit the ground, thankfully it didn't roll onto me, and I landed away from the cow, tumbling from the momentum but I soon rolled to a stop. “Nick?!” I opened my eyes, my breaths were quick and I noticed my hat was laying on the ground away from me. The cow shook its head before getting up and headed over to all the others, the rope already was off her.

I got rolled onto my back as hooves went to me. I felt the rope around my arm be taken off and I smiled as I see Twilight. “Howdy.” I gave her a goofy grin and she gave me a smile mixed with a frown. “You come here often little mare?” Twilight then lightly punched me in the shoulder and I let out a little chuckle. “Ow, that's a bruise.”

Twilight then gasped a little and put a hoof to her lips. “Ohmygosh, I'm sorry.” I sat up, putting my right arm behind me to help push me up.

“Ah, it's fine, I've had worse I assure you.” I felt a little sore for the tumble and this would be something I felt in the morning. I heard magic flaring up and my hat was floated over to me. I took it from the purple magic. “Thanks.” After putting the hat back atop my head, Applejack galloped over.

“You ok sugarcube? That was a nasty fall y'all had there.” I just smiled and nodded.

“Yea, I'll be a bit sore, but I should be fine.” It was then that I looked around as a dull thudding noise filled my ears. The ponies were stomping their front hooves onto the ground. “They're... Applauding?...” I asked in disbelief when Applejack smiled and nodded.

“Sure are, y'all helped save the town Nick.” I blushed and shook my head, glancing around slightly at all the mares, a couple stallions here and there mixed into the crowd.

“No, you and Winona did most of the work, I just caught one.” Twilight was sitting on my left, her right hoof wrapped around my shoulders and Applejack rubbed her face with a hoof.

“Nick, stop bein modest. If that lose cow got into Ponyville, who knows what kind of damage it could of caused.” She then swung her hoof towards the sky and I pondered what she said.

“Y- Yea, I guess you're right Applejack.” I then stood up and wiped some dirt off my pants and shirt. Once I was standing, a tan mare with grey hair trotted over to me, one I recognized as Mayor Mare. She smiled and stuck her hoof out to me and I grabbed it and shook it. She then shook Applejack's hoof.

“Nick Stotes, Applejack, on behalf of Ponyville, I would personally like to give you two our thanks. Thanks for, the second time for Applejack, saving the town for a stampede.” The tan mare then smiled and I felt my cheeks warm up from being in the centre of attention.

“It's all in a days work Mayor Mare, but I really couldn't of done it with out ya Nick.” Applejack said, looking up at me from the side. I just scratched the back of my head with my right hand.

“Shucks Applejack, it was nothing.” Applejack stifled a giggle and lightly pushed my hand.

“It was something! I never see somepony who never threw a lasso, do it like they knew what they were doin, let alone while running with a moving target!” She exclaimed and I pondered that for a moment, before I shrugged my shoulders.

“It was in the heat of the moment.” Applejack then gave me a sly grin, her eyes glancing over at Twilight. My cheeks warmed up, I knew what she was getting at. “Anyways, I have a fence to fix, so how about we get back to the farm huh?” Applejack nodded and headed towards the cattle herd on the other side of the bridge from the town square.

I turned to Twilight and bent down. “Thanks.” Was all she said, whispering it as she put her forelegs around my neck and gave me a small kiss on the cheek.

I smiled and put my own arms around her. “No problem, just dong my job.” I then broke the hug, looking into her purple eyes. “Well, I have to get back to work, I'll see you at home ok?” Twilight nodded and I stood back up before giving a little wave as I followed Applejack.

Once I crossed the bridge Applejack was waiting there for me. “Alright lover boy, let's get these her cattle back to the farm.” I nodded in agreement as Applejack started for the farm, the cattle following her.

I wonder what spooked them? I thought as I made we made our way back, Applejack on one side, I was on the other, and Winona was behind the herd, making sure none broke away. We soon made it back and while Applejack found a temporary place to put the cattle, I went and checked out the fence that housed them.

As I approached, I saw that there was one hole in the fence, but the fenced in area was not too far from the forest. This doesn’t look good, this doesn’t look good at all. As I approached the area, looking at the broken planks of wood, I had a feeling something was watching me from afar, just a nervous feeling deep down really. “Everything look ok?” I jumped a little and spun around to see Applejack walking up behind me.

I let out the breath I was holding. “Yea, I was just looking as to what could of spooked the cattle.” I then turned my attention back to the fence, looking around to see if I could find anythi-... What the hell? I picked up one of the broken planks of wood, it was cracked, but on the edge, there was a small indent on it. “Applejack, check this out.” I moved the piece near her and she eyed it.

“What in tarnation could of did tha-...” She trailed off, her eyes going up and they became like pin pricks. I felt a cold chill come over me and I slowly turned my head.

“Mother fuck-!” I pushed Applejack away and I jumped back myself as the stinger lander right where we were. I rolled to my feet. The best was a light gamboge with what seemed to be a red lions mane. It had bat like wings and a scorpion stinger for a tail. “Manticore!” I yelled out and his eyes came over to me. He let out a roar and swiped a paw in my direction.

I jumped backwards, landing on my butt. “Nick!” Applejack said and charged the Manticore. The Manticore looked to his left, just before he got a buck to the side that sent him tumbling. “Get Up!” She said and I scrambled to my feet getting a couple feet away from him.

It was then that I knew he was coming after us. A snarl and then the sounds of his feet hitting the ground. As we ran by the barn I grabbed a shovel that was leaning against it. I then turned around and swung, a loud twanging sound came, then a thud as the shovel hit the Manticore, then he hit the ground a little dazed. I then turned and ran again, but I got tripped. I turned onto my back as the Manticore's tail came back behind him, he then pounced on top of me. “Crap!”
