Sweetie's Depression
2-Suspension (In the club)
Previous ChapterSuspension (In The Club)
The rest of the week didn't really get any better after that day...Diamond and I were strictly placed on the opposite sides of the classroom, which took my only two friends away from me. On top of that, I received a handwritten letter by the school board at the end of the day on friday. The first thing I read on that piece of paper in bold letters was "Suspended"...
I stared at the clock across my room as it ticked away by the second. The hands on it read "10:59". As it turned to 11p.m, I swiveled my head around to look out the window. Stars littered the cloudless sky as I watched some of the older ponies walk about with their groups of friends. Most of them were a bit older than me, but a few of them looked my age.
I sat and wondered what it'd be like to see all of Ponyville late at night. Knowing me, the thought immediately crossed my mind. The thought of sneaking out. My mom's bound to still be asleep, I thought, and the window's right here. All I have to do is take the latch off, open it up, and I'm free.
With that I flipped the lock up, and pushed the window out. I felt the rush of cool, fresh air sweep through me as if it was cleansing my insides. I smiled as I climbed into the windowsill, and placed a hoof on the ground below. Then another, and another...and then all four of my hooves were on the cool soil on the other side of my bedroom window. With a feeling of freedom, I breathed in deeply through my nose, and breathed out calmly through my mouth.
I turned to close my window, and pushed it toward the frame. I left it slightly open so I could return later on without having to use the front door. What should I do first? I thought. Sugarcube Corner will be closed at this hour, there's no point in going there...I wonder what all the other filly's and colts do at this time of night."
I noticed a small group of fillies just a bit older than me walking toward a building that had illuminated signs all over it. One of them read "No club drugs or nuclear weapons allowed inside", while another read "Club M1X3D". As I walked towards it, I begun to hear music coming from inside. A constant beat of drums and other noises that attracted beyond measure.
I approached the door, and was met by a rather large colt, at least a year or two older than me. He wore a pair of shades and had a small radio clipped to his suit. He looked down at me and spoke, "Age?"
"Nine." I replied. He smiled politely and stepped to the right, allowing me to enter. "Thank you." I said as I walked past him. He tipped his head and looked at the next filly in line, who was easily to young to come in. I walked further into the building, following the rhythm and beat of the music that was playing.
I walked around a corner and found a large room that had easily a hundred ponies spread out amongst the space. Multicolored lights on the ceiling flickered and flashed as the music pumped. Ponies were in the middle dancing with partners and friends like they didn't even care who was watching. Some colts were attracting many fillies with their breakdancing, while others calmly tapped their hoof, or nodded their head to the beat. It was like nothing I had ever seen. A smile spread across my face as I realized I found a place where I can get away from my mother, and be with my own people.
I heard a sigh to the right of me, and looked over my shoulder. I young colt, with long messy hair with headphones around his neck, a black beanie on his head, and blank flank stood there holding a case. His blue eyes reflected the lights from ceiling as he tapped his hoof to the music. His eye suddenly looked down at me staring at him. I looked away casually, hoping he didn't see me staring.
"First time here?" I heard a voice say. I turned my head back towards the colt, who smiled politely.
"Yeah...I've never been to a place like this." I replied.
"Really? I remember my first time here...I had no idea what I was supposed to do...yet here I am." He explained. His voice was so assertive yet soothing at the same time. I looked down at the case he held.
"What's in there?" I asked, pointing at the case.
"Oh, my controller...I'm performing live tonight for the first time. To be honest I'm a little nervous, and there's a lot of ponies here I don't know." He explained. My jaw lowered a bit as my interest grew.
"That's cool. Well, good luck." I spoke. As he turned away I realized I never caught his name. "Oh..." I said, catching his attention yet again. "I'm Sweetie Belle." I stuck out my hoof.
"Nice to meet you. You can call me Bass." He replied. He shook my hoof gently. Another pony, a stallion, tapped on Bass' shoulder. The stallion whispered in his ear, before a terrified look grew on Bass' face. He turned back to me. "Well, here we go...let's hope I don't f--" The music suddenly cut off his words, "-this up." I heard as he walked past me toward the DJ Booth.
Dear Celestia he's one hell of a cutie, I thought to myself as the music faded out, and a pony came on the microphone.
"Alright fillies and gentle colts, please welcome performing for the first time, Omnipony~." I saw Bass climb into the DJ Booth, and open up his case. He fiddled around for a good minute while all the ponies stared up at him. Finally, he grabbed the mic, and with a shaky voice he spoke.
"Alright. To be honest I'm nervous, but still excited to play here in front of you ponies for my first time. Without further ado, let's get this started!" He threw his hoof into the air, and put the microphone down. Music suddenly faded in as Bass slipped his headphones over his ears. He stared at a screen as the music intensified, and the ponies begun dancing again.
Vocals begun playing as the music began to flow through me once more.
"Across,
The oceans of time,
We are like a drop of,
Water in between us
We've become alive,
We've become alive!
You leave me breathless,
Wizard of time.
I blame you,
No one knew,
Wizard Of Time~"
It sang beautifully. The song suddenly begun to breakdown as I realized the music was controlling me. I swayed my hips back and fourth as the song suddenly dropped, and the bass kicked in. I had never been into this kind of music, but what ever I was experiencing now was far better than I had imagined. As another buildup approached in the middle of the drop, everyone expected it to go crazy, when suddenly the song quickly and smoothly transitioned to another song.
Many of the dancers were shocked of how badly the transition threw off their dancing. I chuckled a little as the tempo slowed to something much slower. I looked up at the DJ Booth and saw Bass swayed from side to side as he swiveled his hoof in the air. I could tell the ponies were enjoying his performance. I continued dancing the same as I saw everyone else when I walked in.
One Live Performance later
The ponies tapped their hooves together as Bass grabbed the microphone. "I can't believe that went so flawlessly." He said. Some of the ponies whistled in delight. "It means so much to me that you all enjoyed that I swear I'm about to cry." He chuckled. "But hey, I do have one question for you guys..." Bass spoke catching their attention. "You ponies want me back here soon?" He asked. His response was a cheer from the remaining ponies that were still in the club. "That's all I needed to hear. Goodnight everypony. Now I gotta pack up." He said humorously.
I sat at the bar which sold many different sodas and sport drinks. I sipped away at the Dr. Pony I ordered as Bass approached the seat beside me. I smiled as he sat. "That was awesome." I said, complimenting his performance.
"You're just saying that aren't you?" He replied.
"Hell no. I mean, somepony our age doing something like that. You're gonna be famous dude." I explained. He blushed deeply as he grinned.
"Thanks...it really means a lot to me." He yawned as the bartender placed a glass of soda in front of him. "Thanks." Bass said as he placed a bit on the bar.
"On me kid. I've never seen the crowd go that wild in here like that when anypony else performed." He said with a raspy voice.
"Thank you." Bass politely replied as the bartender returned to cleaning mugs.
"I never even knew this place was here...I'm gonna start coming here every weekend." I said as calm music begun to play.
"It'd be nice to have another pony to talk to down here." Bass replied. He chugged his glass of soda, and picked up his case. "I hate to abandon you, but I gotta get home. See you next time." He waved his hoof. My smile disappeared as he hopped off the barstool.
"Wait." I involuntarily said. He turned back toward me with a curious expression. I blushed and looked at him. "Uh...yeah, bye." He chuckled slightly, and put a leg around my neck, pulling me in for a hug. I hug back gladly for a second, before letting go and waving goodbye. I drank the rest of my soda as I watched him walk out the doors.
"He's single." I heard the bartender say behind me. He gave me a wink before flipping the "Bar is Open" sign over to the "Bar is Closed" side. I guess I should get going, I thought. I hopped to my hooves and made my way to the exit.
Tonight has easily been one of the greatest nights of my life, I thought, ...I really like him...I'll admit it to myself. I can't wait to see him again. I walked outside and noticed the air had gotten much cooler than before. I quickly ran home to find my window untouched since I left, I opened it, climbed back in, and closed it like nothing happened. The clock on my wall now read "2:01a.m."
I gave a long yawn before climbing into my bed. I wrapped myself up and let my heavy eyes carry me into a deep sleep...
