A VinylDash Fic
The outskirts of Manehatten were dead quiet, with the exception of a certain DJ's footsteps which echoed down the stone brick streets.
She didn't know why or where she was exactly, but for one reason or another she was running frantically, either after someone or away.
It was as if her body was on auto pilot, taking her to her final destination and her conscience was simply along for the ride.
A warm summer rain had rolled in from the west, giving the grimy city roads a slick consistency. luckily, Vinyl had refrained from slipping on the slick roads as she ran from street to street, other than a couple close calls.
Suddenly a high pitched sound pierced the the air. A car had braked hard in an alley leading off the street she was on, emitting a screech as the tires struggled against the road.
"Ahha.." Vinyl thought quietly, as the roar of a car came into earshot. "This must be why I'm here."
Normally, she would have paid no particular attention to a car in the city, but this was the first she had come upon all night, encouraging her to investigate further.
The DJ cautiously approached the dark passageway, even though every fiber of her being conflicted the decision. With her back to a wall, Vinyl slowly peered around the corner of the weathered building parallel to the alley. Vinyl's eyes widened as she witnessed a figure be thrown out of the SUV, landing against the alley wall with a thud. The victim was shuffled across the alley into the building's fire exit struggling against the two thugs that pushed him or her into it.
Vinyl's heart pounded as she realized what she was about to do. The DJ ran for the door as it began to close behind the thugs, catching it before it could lock behind them. Slowly, Vinyl made her way up the building's stairwell, regretting every step more then the last. She was devoted now, there was no going back. The disk spinner picked up a two foot pipe of some sort off the floor, figuring it handy if a fight were to take place. Faint mumbling could be heard and short screech before it was were silenced again. Now approaching the final floor, Vinyl followed the voices of the thugs that she had witnessed in the alley leading her to a door and the end of the hall. Peering through the keyhole of the door, Vinyl could see a girl, about her age with long black hair tied to a chair in the center of the room. Vinyl stumbled back in shock, falling to the floor. The voices of the thugs fell silent right before the door was flung open, revealing one of the captors. Vinyl struggled her back against the wall, trying to gain a footing to run, but it was too late. The captor cocked a pistol and pointed it directly at the DJ, who dove away from the door as a shoot rang out, echoing down the hall.

A faint buzzing began to restore the DJ to a self controlled state, as she slowly drifted away from the horrid scene.
"No.. No! NO!"
Vinyl tossed and turned violently under her bed sheets, eventually kicking them off and shooting up from her sleep with a loud cry.
Trying to catch her breath, it took her a minute to realize what she had experienced was all a dream. She was no longer trapped in that apartment, instead, she was in her own. She was able to control her own action and most importantly, she wasn't getting shot at.
The DJ plopped her head back onto the pillow, trying to fight off the images that still tormented her.
The sound of calming raindrops knocked lightly against Vinyl's bedroom window, which overlooked the bustling city nightlife.
"What do they mean?" Vinyl wondered as she tried to put the dream back together.
However, the period of remembrance was at its end and the visions slowly faded from vinyl's memory, leaving only a puzzle of thoughts and worry. Not wanting to associate herself with the dream any longer, the DJ slid out of the bed and walked to the bathroom sink, turning the alarm clock off on her way out.
A splash of cold water brought the DJ out of her drowsy state
