In Which, Yoshi Goes Batshit Crazy

It was another beautiful day on Yoshi’s Island. So beautiful in fact, that it’s great for exploring. That is what this particular green Yoshi is out doing; exploring the jungle area of the island. Yoshi was his name, plain and simple of course. Even though that’s what his species are called, it’s more on the line of family traditions to name the green color reptilians of the native tribe “Yoshi”.

…or to put it bluntly, complete laziness of originality. But he never really thought on that subject that much. In fact, it wasn’t even important. What really matters now is the absolute wonderful day today is and the fun Yoshi is having with his traveling.

The lushes’ grassy earth, dawn in bluish-green and leafy lines of trees cover the whole vicinity of the forest. The sun looms in the middle of the sky bathing the whole island in its warm glory. Although it wasn’t easy to tell half the time, with the trees themselves acting like a canopy almost blocking out the suns ray, only leaving enough to illuminate the whole entire forest of trees, vines, and giant patches of flowers; which are mostly mean looking Piranha Plants…best to avoid those. Whenever there aren’t any grass on the ground, slopes of mud took its place covering some parts of the jungle area and sparkling river banks and large lakes of water. Some of these lakes swarm with delicious looking fishes, occasionally jumping out of the water. With a keen eye, if you look close enough, you might be able to spot the ominous glare of a Nep-Enut. ….it’s smart to stay away from it. The forest itself, as if it hasn’t been clear already, isn’t actually safe. Aside from man-eating plants and lake monsters, it is filled with wild life. Mischievous little Uuki’s, monkey animals, roam in various parts of the area, and the tribe of Spear Guys made absolute territory in only certain other areas. Not a problem for Yoshi and his kind. After all, this place wasn’t called “Yoshi’s Island” for nothing. They are the alpha clan, dominate species of the island. Although, there are certain places only brave (crazy) Yoshis will venture off to….

Anyway, as stated previously, it was a lovely day and Yoshi was having a fun and great exploration in the detailed fore-mention jungle. As he continue his advances the green reptile check his inventory of held items of collectables…from somewhere on his body. He wasn’t carrying a bag or anything.

…Yoshi never questioned it.

It was some sort of black chalkboard that every Yoshi has with them for some reason. These chalkboards auto-updates on the stuff that Yoshi has with him and collected, like his coin count for explain. Surprisingly, it also comes with free Wi-Fi. He doesn’t know how that was possible, but he never complained. Free internet is free internet.

STARS - 30/30

Although Yoshi really didn’t need these, they do, however, make one heck of a necklace. If only they’ll stop jumping around...

COINS - 20/20

These Red Coins were well hidden. But Yoshi is master at hide and seek. *wink and thumbs up*

FLOWERS - 2/5

Yoshi was confident that he’s going to win that roulette once he reaches the end point. Sure, he wasn’t the best at Bingo or with the slot machines at the-- …..wait…

Yoshi shot a quick check on the Flowers.

FLOWERS - 2/5

Yoshi blinked. He checked a second time.

FLOWERS - 2/5

No. No that can’t be right. That can-

FLOWERS - 2/5

Yoshi patted the side of his head hard enough to get the distorting shock out of his brain to function correctly. Reasoning with himself that he was merely seeing things, he checked again--

FLOWERS - 2/5

Okay, this is NOT funny! Okay? Alright? So, can you please cut the crap and stop messing--

(T_T)LOOK, BRO-DOG…YOU’RE MISSING THREE F-ING FLOWERS, ALRIGHT? GET. OVER. IT.

Eyes bulge and mouth gaping wide, the green reptile stares at the now physical inventory as if he just lost a friend. Yoshi couldn’t believe it. He’s missing three Flowers… he’s missing three Flowers! HE’S MISSING! THREE! FLOWERS!!!

Yoshi now felt sick. Everything around him started to spin in circles, blurring together in a weird void of some sort of delusion. As if it wasn’t real. As if everything wasn’t real.

…it was all a lie. His whole life was a lie. It was all a lie. Lies. Lies! LIES! LIES!! LIES!!! IT WAS ALL LIES! Yoshi now has a strong urge to summon the Kusanagi and use its power to destroy this world that has been plague with its LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then suddenly, everything went black.

When he awoken, Yoshi jolted in a sitting position cover in cold sweat and breathing heavily. With wide eyes he glances around his surroundings, trying to piece together what happen to him. He’s practically ransacking his brain to seek answers to why he fell unconscious but couldn’t find any. Man, Yoshi hasn’t felt like this since that time he and his friends got super high from fuzzy huffin’ a week ago. Oh well. Feeling somewhat calm, the green reptile jump back up to his feet and decided to go through his inventory. He didn’t know how long he blacked out for, probably been hours (it was actually a few minutes) so the best course of action to do is to check your current updates.

STARS - 30/30

Yeah, okay, whatev’.

COINS - 20/20

Piece of cake to find.

FLOWERS - 2/5

…………………

Yoshi’s brain exploded.

========================================================

Backtracking. That is what Yoshi is doing right now; Backtracking. It’s a tedious task to do, wastes of valuable time, a completed burden of a chore; all in all, it sucks!

But if Yoshi wanted a decent chance at winning that roulette, he’ll have no choice but to do some backtracking. Sure, it may seem like just some stupid mini game that’ll earn you a shot at winning items and extra 1-Ups. But to Yoshi, it was more than that! It was….it was….Pride! Yes, pride. Honor. A Reputation. He was making a name for himself. It was the principle of the matter.

….he just really, really, REALLY wanted to win that Bonus Challenge for once! Just once! Is that too much to ask?! It was this reason, and that alone, why Yoshi is desperately trying to find all of those Flowers. Looking around the seemingly endless fields of trees, Yoshi let out a little sigh of frustration. Well, it shouldn’t be too hard. It’s only three of them. Maybe he didn’t pay as much of an attention and overlooked them. Just three Flowers. How hard can it be?

SIX HOURS LATER…

Yoshi screamed from the top of his lungs at the heavens in complete anguish and aggravation to which he pretty much broke open a dimensional rift. Kind of like in the same manner of a certain pink blob monster that eats people and steal their powers.

No, not Kirby…

He searched everywhere. Everywhere! Under every rock, in every tree, under his left boot, under his right boot, at the bottom of every lake, his left boot again; everywhere! In fact, the irritated reptile remembers every nook and cranny in great detail of the jungle’s layouts. Not that it’ll be much use to him now, since he literally leveled the entire forest.

Now Yoshi’s Island doesn’t have a jungle.

The green reptile dragged his orange booted feet and plop himself on a big rock that miraculously isn’t reduce to rubble. With his elbows on his knees and his hands holding his head in place, he pointlessly glances around the vicinity. Yep, rising smoke stacks and craters. Lots and lots of craters….and something on fire. Yoshi is having a strong feeling that he’s now responsible for the extinction of the forest creatures. The Spear Guy tribes are going to pay a little visit to his native village. That’s not something he’s looking forward to.

He let out a depressing groan. What is Yoshi going to do now? The remaining Flowers are nowhere in sight and he lead a bad explain for children everywhere. Which seems strange, he was always known to be a good role model and inspiration towards the kids across the Mushroom Kingdom (That’s not true actually. It was the OTHER Green Yoshi, the one that always hangs out with Mario and his friends. He’s the real role model. Second to Mario….and this ‘green guy’ that follows him around.).

There’s no denying it. It must be fate. Yoshi will never be able to win a Bonus Challenge. Resigning to his defeat, the green reptile slide off the rock and slump himself to walk away back home…

…that is until, he spotted a red switch with a white“!” mark.

Yoshi facepalm so hard his ancestors felt it. Of Course! It was so obvious! If the remaining three Flowers aren’t above the surface…than they have to be underground! Yoshi felt silly, embarrass even. It’s always the last place you’ll think to look. A hidden secret passage is very common on island’s that are mostly inhabited by the Yoshi clan. More so than any other place on Mushroom World (Again, that’s false. It was technically proven that the Mushroom Kingdom has more hidden secrets than any other known place on the planet. This Yoshi doesn’t know that because he never left the island.). Hope was not lost yet. Very soon, he’ll win that roulette at the end point…considering that it still exists.

Without a moment to lose the green reptile activated the switch by jumping on it. Constant clicking and ticking sounds made it apparent that whatever is hidden is now open, but only for a short period of time. Yoshi easily found the source of the hidden passage, which just so happens to be the very rock he was sitting on. How did Yoshi know this? Well, it may have something to do with the red downward arrow that keeps blinking in and out of existence. A quick hop on the object, Yoshi manages to warp himself down through a solid rock, because that’s just how things work here on Yoshi’s Island.

After the millisecond of warping, Yoshi found himself in a hidden underground cavern. The place was rather small, but spacious. The walls and ceiling were adorning with different types of symbols of…well….things. Literally random things, like, carrots, butterflies, music notes, stars, hourglasses, a rainbow lightning bolt…there was too many to identify. But that’s not what getting the green reptile’s attention. Yoshi was in complete awe when he saw a glowing whitish portal on the other end of the small underground cavern. It seems to be the only thing that’s giving the area a source of light. This place doesn’t seem like the usual hidden passages he’ll come across during his adventuring. It was kind of weird. But then again, this IS the Mushroom Universe, so pretty much everything is weird. Plus, Yoshi has a strong hunch that those remaining Flowers are somewhere in that portal. Before throwing himself into an unknown territory, he’ll do a quick reminiscing of his old family motto, past down from generations to generations that’ll always give him the moral and courage boost needed.  Words to the wise, which goes a little something like this;

‘….yoshi!’

Full of confidents and self-moral, Yoshi, with unwavering nerves dove into the portal, feeling his body tumble around like a tumble weed. Flashing swirls of tranquility of colors zoom past the green reptile, along with transparent images of the making of “Man” and everything, accompany the harmony warp space in a strange type of montage. He was traveling not only through space and time, but galaxies after galaxies, dimensions after dimensions, and universe after universe! However, last but not least and not limited to, passing through parallel dimensional universes after parallel dimensional universes, and to infinity and beyond! These feelings of peace and the incredible warp experience before him was something that Yoshi wish had happen to him. Instead, when Yoshi jump head first into the portal, he immediately came to the other side, fell down a cliff and bashed his head against a rock and past out the second time that day…

Cheerilee, or mainly known as “Miss Cheerilee”, master degree specialist in foal teaching, currently number one in Equestria’s top ten greatest teachers’, personally hoofshake by Princesses Celestia and Luna themselves, entitled hottest teacher in teen monthly magazines, several award winnings in just about everything teaching related…Cheerilee, No. 1 Teacher in Ponyville….is slowly banging her head against her desk in a paced rhythm.

Why? Well…it’s that week again. This particular week is very vital to her career. It pushes her special talent as a teacher far past its usual limitations, and also puts her reputation on the line. It’s her greatest challenge yet. Cheerilee never like putting her students on the front line of danger with this type of knowledge she’ll be giving them lessons about, mainly for her sake. There are times she tries to postpone it as long as possible, but alias, such a fate can’t be avoided. She’ll be mark as a failure if she keeps avoiding this subject or failed in passing down this knowledge to her students with satisfying grade reports.

Miss Cheerilee…greatest foal teacher of all ponykind…must teach her students…Mathematics!

….and maaaaann, her students are dumb as all Tartarus.

With a few split ends of her pink mane and tail popping out and slight darker shades of bags under her eyes, the macaroon color earth pony eventually cease her abuse on her frustration before she ends up with another concussion. Yes, it is true; Cheerilee had had a few brain injuries in the past, mostly gain from this type of lecture. She was given a special medication to solve that dilemma.

She was a regular at the Ponyville hospital.

Lifting her head, Cheerilee looked at her precious students. All of them are waiting patiently for their favorite teacher to…well, start teaching. It’s been almost an hour since school startled and they haven’t even gotten the usual cheerful greetings from their knowledge giver. Once they had gotten seated, they all watched her constantly bang her head against her smooth wooden desk made out of pure mahogany. Mmmm…..mahogany

Cheerilee sighed softly to herself before addressing to the audience of colts and fillies before her. “I’m sorry everypony. This week is going to be…how I shall say-- quite a challenge for all of us here. I’m merely going through some heavy stress issues over this ordeal and-- Pip, please stop doing that.”

Pip, the foreign exchange earth pony colt, abruptly stops bashing his head on his desk, much like the same manner his teacher was doing. Only, except, she doesn’t have lumps of bruises on her face…and not bleeding.

“Oh, is this not the new lesson then, Miss Cheerilee?” Pip innocently asked. He was dazzle, swaying slightly as if he’s due to pass out soon.

“…no…” Cheerilee replied in a soft tone of voice, wincing a little from the results of her student’s action. The teacher pony has been with these students for a very long time now. As her career sake, she taught them everything they needed to know, and as a result, she understood all of their weaknesses and strong points on every subject she has given them over the past year or so. However, they all remarkably have one thing in common as a whole…

They’re absolutely TERRIBLE at math! All of them! It’s like they are incapable of processing a simple math equation. None of them score higher than a D.

….all except for Twist. She got a C-.

“Pip, perhaps its best for you to check into the infirmary…” Cheerilee requested. “You’re not looking to well…at all.”

As of recently, the teacher pony have installed a new nursing room for her students. There have been a few shenanigans and rough play during recess. It was natural, seeing as they are all starting to grow a little. Cheerilee couldn’t handle all of the minor injuries, so she requested (begged) Mayor Mare to dabble in some tax money for her students.

“Ah. Very well then, Miss Cheerilee. If you insist.” Pip hops out off his seat and trot towards the door of the class room. At least, that where he thought he was headed for since he’s starting to get double vision for eyesight. As a result, he bumped face first into the wall near the door and fell back on his hunches.

Some of the fillies and colts try to suppress their giggles. Keyword; “Some”. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon we’re laughing their flanks off.

Cheerilee let out a disapproving sigh well placing a hoof on her forehead. “Applebloom. Please be a dear and escort Pip to the nurse’s office.”

“Sure thang, Miss Cheerilee!” Applebloom replied cheerfully, as she went over to the fallen colt and offer a helping hoof to stand. “C’mon, Pip. Let’s get ya to ‘dat nurse’s so ya’ll be fellin’ right as rain!”

“Why thank you Applebloom. I could of sworn the door shuffle out of the way, if I say so myself.” The young colt took her hoof and was hauled to proper standing level. They both headed out of the classroom and down the hallway. “By golly! Applebloom, you’ve never told me you have a twin sister.”

With them gone momentarily, Cheerilee, gaining as much enthusiasm and composer as possible (which isn’t very much at all), continue onward with today’s subject for the rest of the week. Perhaps there’s a silver lining in this. Perhaps her students will finally do better. Perhaps they’ll all earn a decent approving grade. Perhaps she’ll earn another reward for her accomplishment! Having those positive thoughts in mind, the teacher pony allows a small smile to grace her face as she turns towards her chalkboard, baring a chalk in hoof.

“Now class, today we’re going to do basic Mathematics.” she instructed while simultaneously writing down an equation on the board. It was stupidly easy; 1 + 2 =? “Let’s start with Addition. For over the last year I have come to realize that everypony here were having trouble solving big equations. So, well start with small problems for a bit. Is there anypony here who wants to solve the problem?” Immediately after she finished, a hoof shot up eagerly. Cheerilee noticed it right away. “Yes, Snips?”

“Miss Cheerilee, what is that weird crossing stick thing in the middle of those numbers?” Snips confusingly asked.

“That is called a “Plus Sign”, Snips. It is use to add the following equation together into higher numbers.” Cheerilee answered professionally. Another hoof rose after that. “Yes, Scootaloo?”

“Why are there two straight lines at the end?” The Pegasus filly was bewildered by such a thing.

Cheerilee’s left eye twitch slightly. “…it-it’s use for showing the answer to a completed mathematic problem…” A third student waved for attention. “Featherweight…?”

“What’s a number?”

“……” The macaroon pony stared with a distance stare in relatively long silence.

Perhaps she’ll need some hardcore cider by the end of the day…

========================================================

Waking up in the middle of a forest without a clue as to where you are is, surprisingly, something Yoshi has become custom to. Let’s just say Yoshi and his friends had their own type of ‘Mario Parties’ here on the island. It involves lots of fruit, fuzzy huffin’, and a mod of very angry Spear Guys.

…Yoshi never like his friends idea of parties.

Gently rubbing his head to ease the headache, the green reptilian dino-dragon…whatever Yoshi is, observe his surroundings. Darkness cover all around the far distance within the sea of trees and…well, that’s all he can see; just trees. Well, Yoshi isn’t one to lament to himself.

Time to explore.

Yoshi began to stroll his way through this dark, dingy, dirty, dung infested, dorky, dump of a forest. Those hidden remaining Flowers have got to be around here somewhere. He can fell it. Nay, he can foresee it! His uniquely gifted PSI abilities tells him so (Correction, Yoshi has no such abilities, he just likes to think he do, because…well…he’s an idiot). During his traveling, Yoshi encounter these weird looking creatures that tried to eat, mangle, steal his soul, and turn him into stone, and or otherwise, that he never seen before.

He easily kicked the crap out of them.

Other than the lion-scorpion beast thing (it’s now an egg), he was legitimately surprised to met this friendly looking, lavender sea serpent, with a mix-color mustache, who offer him a ride across the river.

Now that Yoshi is thinking about it, this hidden secret area is…kind of big.

Maybe too big…huge even.

Usually, the hidden passages on the island are lengthy at best, but never a mass landscape. Plus he’s real certain that someone would of mention about something like this, especially about the inhabitants in this forest. Unless…no one haven’t yet discover it? This is going to make an interesting story when he gets back to the village. Provided that he doesn’t get into serious trouble for destroying the jungle…

Eventually, Yoshi made his way out the creepy forest. Looking back at it reminded the green reptile of the time he heard stories about other creepy, dark forests that have all these weird supernatural paranormal influences with monsters in them. Like the “Forever Forest”, “Boo Woods”, and this recently new place called “Evershade Valley”.

…Yoshi hated ghost stories…

Out in the open was a complete contrast to the eerie dark place behind him. A clear blue sky with the sun shining bright, bathing its warmth of comfort all over everything it touches, and the field of rolling hills out in the open plains was not a bad touch either. He even saw birds flocking about in the distances.

This made Yoshi a little confuse. This ‘hidden secret area’ was a lot bigger than the whole of Yoshi’s Island itself. Honestly, he was expecting to see a Warp Pipe back to the surface. Or another one of those portals.

The distraught green reptile was now in deep thought, thinking about everything that happened over an hour ago;

The portal.

The weird looking creatures.

The genuinely nice sea serpent.

The genuinely nice sea serpent’s mustache.

The genuinely nice sea serpent’s mustache being blue and brown.

Mario’s mustache.

Imaging self with mustache.

…why Green Yoshi no born with mustache?

Yellow Yoshi being douchbag, always cock-blocking.

Traditional for Green Yoshi’s, leaders in native tribes, where is respect?

Running low on fuzzies, see dealer later.

Hidden secret area.

The portal.

Yoshi was merely standing in place. He was having a huge mental debate with himself that seems to last for long concentrated hours, (technically, it was a mere minute or two. Yoshi’s a drama queen with time keeping) until finally he was finalizing it down to a conclusion. Maybe….just maybe….this place isn’t really a hidden se--.

“Oh my…” came the sudden voice nearby.

And just like that, Yoshi’s train of thought took a turn for the worst, ending up running off its rails, crashed into a mountain with enough force to cause giant boulders to fall and smashed into the train and its carts of held of passengers. Said passengers either died horribly from the crushing blow or the resulting explosion erupted from the train. It was a complete and utter massacre that left no trace of any potential survivors. They are all gone and will be missed.

Yoshi turned to the source of the soft voice that ‘killed’ his thoughts. It was another creature that he never seen or heard of before (in fact, Yoshi barely knows about anything outside of his island home. His cousin, the OTHER Green Yoshi that hangs around with Mario and Co, usually visits and tells him some adventuress stories. Yoshi was never a very good listener). A four legged mammal that almost stood as tall as himself with yellow fur and pink hair that cover some parts of its face, and its tail is also pink. It also has wings. It was gawking at the green reptile like he was some sort of alien. Yoshi would have done the same thing if he hasn’t already encountered a bunch of weird shit in the forest.

Whatever it was, it slowly approaches towards him in a cautious and curious manner.

…maybe a bit too curious. Its big bright cyan color eyes travel ever inch of his body, taking in all of the details. This was making Yoshi somewhat uncomfortable. He feels like he’s getting eye raped.

“Oh my…wow. I…never seen anything like you before...” it spoke in a low tone that was barely audible. It turns out it’s a ‘she’, judging by its feminine voice. She was now practically making circles around him, throwing caution to the wind and getting in a much better view of his being. Gradually a small smile form on her face. It was giving Yoshi the heevy-jeevies. “Gosh, you’re such an adorable looking…thing. What are you…suppose to be-- if you don’t mind me asking…”

Yoshi blinked. He wasn’t all that good in the English language, (he never even bother learning it, true be told) so to make up for such ‘procrastination’, his response was simple and clear;

“…Yoshi.”

The-- whatever she is-- eyes grew twice as big with her mouth gaping. She suddenly burst into total gleefulness as her wings flapped, allowing the yellow thing to fly from different angles around the green reptile.

“Oh gosh! Your voice! It’s so cute!” The ‘she whatever creature’ was gushing it up over just one word from Yoshi. She suddenly stops, and instantly got close to his face. Real close. At least 0.00001 inches apart….if that was possible. Yoshi was slightly sweating. He can easily see the twinkles in her huge eyes. She has a grin that cover 80% of her face.

What in the name of the Super Happy Tree did Yoshi get himself into?

“I’ve never seen another animal that looks so cute and SOUNDS even cuter all in one!” she continues. “What is your name little fella'? Do you have a name? Where are you from? How old are you? What kind of food do you eat? Any types of diet?--” The…’thing’… asked over 50 million questions (actually it was only a few. Yoshi was freakin’ out so bad he couldn’t focus). Yoshi begin to slowly backpedal, something that ‘crazy yellow whatever’ picked up on right away. “Oh no! Please, don’t run away! I’m not going to hurt you! Please don’t run!” she hastily begged, pleading even.

It didn’t make Yoshi feel any better.

“I’m kind and can be very gentle.”, ‘crazy yellow whatever’ explained.

Yoshi was certain she was.

Right then and there, she came up with a solution. “I know just the thing that’ll make you feel better. A hug!”, ‘crazy yellow whatever’ proposed. She hovered in the air and approached the paranoid green reptile with her two front legs open for embrace. She successfully made contact and locked her legs in an iron grip. She sighed deeply in content. “See? Feeling better now? Hmmm~…”

For the most part, Yoshi didn’t see anything wrong with this. It was just a nice, comforting hug. In fact, he returned the hug and started to relax a little.

…then it came to him. Yoshi’s eyes nearly bulge out of his eye sockets. He knew what she was. Yoshi heard stories of Succubus! They act all kind and gentle so they can get close to you, hold you in their soothing hugs and cuddles. Then they’ll seduce you into doing lewd acts of pleasure, and before you know it, it’s too late; they already have you in their clutches. They’ll drain ever ounce of your life energy, turning you into their slaves, and your empty shell of a body will be use for their own pleasure until they get bored and toss it aside along with the all the other previous victims.

There was never a good ending.

With this realization upon him, Yoshi, using all of his strength manages to shove the yellow ‘succubus’ off him. She squeals in surprise from the unexpected motion. They always do…from what he heard (he really didn’t. Remember? Barely listens?). Yoshi didn’t stop there, for his next move was the end of this monster! Before she can even lift her head at him, the green reptile shot out his long sticky tongue, easily capturing the yellow she-devil. Before she can blink, Yoshi not only ate her whole, but laid an egg a second afterwards.

The deed was done. Justice once again has prevailed. The wrong has been set to the right and evil was purge from this world.

Yoshi looked back at the green spotted white egg. It was slightly larger than him and it faintly wiggled. Obviously she was still alive, but he didn’t care. He’s a man-- err, reptilian on a mission; a mission to locate and retrieve those missing three Flowers. It’s a tough job, but it needs to be done no matter how bizarrely big this hidden secret area is. He’s not going to let four legged, wide eyed succubus’s stop him.

Yoshi throw his attention towards the sun in the sky, nearly halfway across the atmosphere. It’s almost midday. Yoshi sighed. It’s going to be a long day. He made his way down the open fields of lush greenery, disappearing from sight and leaving his captive unattended.

If Yoshi would have stayed a bit longer, he would have notice a very pinkish pink color creature that have some resemblance to the yellow being, minus the wings, bounced enthusiastically towards the same spot he was recently. It stopped in mid-bounced when it saw a large egg near the dark forest. It threw a smile that shot around the world.

“Oooooooooo! What is this?!”
