Equestria's Contractor

The sky had finally began to clear, the grey clouds being carried away by several pegasi. Hei looked up at the sky, surprised by the event that was taking place, despite every strange thing he had seen, he never though he’d see something actually physically move a cloud. He had to admit to himself, it was quite amazing. Rainbow Dash looked at him noticing that he was observing what was happening.

“Hey Hei, you okay your kinda zoning out.” Rainbow Dash asked jokingly catching Hei’s attention.

“It’s nothing, I just haven’t seen the weather physically cleared before.” Hei said back to his usual emotionless self. Rainbow Dash Frowned a bit from his attitude but quickly brushed it off.

“We should head down to the hospital, so Twilight knows you’re okay. Rainbow Dash said turning to fly in the direction of the Ponyville hospital. Hei simply nodded and turned to follow her. Walking forward  he could see several Ponyville residents beginning to come out of there houses, to his surprise they had smiles on there faces. Rainbow Dash obviously noticed it to, because it caused her to stop directly in her tracks. The ponies then began clapping there hooves and cheering.

“woooo yeah go Dashie and Heie  woooo.”

Hei turned to see a familiar pink pony bouncing out of the crowed.

“Pinkie Pie ? what are you doing here ?” Rainbow Dash asked curiously.

“ Are you kidding ! what you did was amazing, Heie was all like flipping and swinging, and then you swooshed in and hit that meanie down, then...” Pinkie was cut off by Rainbow Dash’s hoof on her mouth.

“Ooookay, I think we get it pinkie, but we have to head over to the hospital now Fluttershy was hurt.” As soon as Rainbow Dash said this, pinkie’s attitude changed, her smile disappeared, her happy expression now a worried look. This apparently caught the crowds attention as they all stopped cheering.

“Oh no...is..is she going to be alright? we have to head there now !” Pinkie said now following in there direction.

“That would be a good idea, I need to discuss something important with Twilight Sparkle.” Hei said quietly

“Well lets go, no point in wasting our time here.” Rainbow Dash added in.

With that the three of them raced towards the hospital, keeping a steady pace the whole way. Rainbow Dash decided it would be best to just stay with Hei and Pinkie instead of racing forward.

Finally reaching the hospital, Hei entered to be greeted by shocked faces of the ponies working there. Hei paid no attention to it, honestly he really couldn’t care less. Walking up to the receptionist, he was greeted by a very terrified face. He could tell the pony was female by her size.

“ You woman behind the table, I’m looking for Fluttershy’s room, she should have checked in here.?” Hei said coldly, receiving a slight nod from the terrified pony in front of him.

“Sh..she’s in room 47, and um I’m a mare sir not a woman.” the pony said petrified by the unphased human being in front of her.

“Yeah dude were mares, and guys are stallions, shouldn’t you know that by now.” Rainbow Dash added in smirking.

Hei ignored her, walking past the receptionist desk to find room 47. Hei walked through the halls of the of the hospital, Pinkie and Rainbow Dash close behind him. He could see that they were quite anxious to see Fluttershy, he however needed her for a different reason. Since Crimson attacked her first, perhaps he could gather some information that would prove useful in finding this so called Queen Chrysalis, and eliminating her. Hei finally reached the room, he could hear several voices from inside, one he recognized as Twilight’s. Opening the door he was met with the sight of Apple Jack, Rarity, Spike, Yin and Twilight, staring at him. Twilight to his surprise ran towards him, embracing him in a hug.

“Oh thank Celestia. your okay Hei. I...I didn’t think you’d make it, we were all worried about you. Twilight said sobbing a bit. Hei looked at her confused.

“Don’t worry I’m fine. You shouldn’t really be concern with me, right now when theres something more important going on.” Hei replied coldly, causing Twilight to let go slowly.

Hei walked past the other ponies to Fluttershy’s bedside. The pinked haired mare looked up at Hei nervously.

“Are you okay Fluttershy ?” Hei asked in a surprisingly soothing voice.

“Um yes I think I will be, but are you okay to mister Hei ?” Fluttershy asked in a whisper.

“I’ll be fine, but I actually need to ask you something about your attacker. “ Hei said finally getting to the point.

“Oh..okay what do you want to know.” Fluttershy asked nervously. Hei could tell he’d have to go easy with this one.

“Crimson Iris is what he said his name was. When he interrogated you, what exactly did he say, what questions were asked ?” Hei asked still calm

“I...I can’t really remember much, but I do know he wanted to know where Twilight was, he did also say something about the changing invasion at the canterlot wedding, but that was it. Um Is that enough, I’m sorry if I couldn’t tell you more.” Fluttershy said looking down. Hei nodded and turned over to Twilight, who had been observing the conversation.

“Twilight Sparkle. Crimson said the same thing to me, I have a feeling this Queen Chrysalis is going to launch a second attack against Equestria. At this point, I would treat this as your top priority, now do you have any idea why she’d want you dead ?” Hei asked his tone now emotionless again.

“Well me and the rest of the girls are the bearers of the Elements of Harmony, powerful magical artifacts that each of us represent. Apple Jack represents Honesty Rainbow Dash Loyalty, Pinkie Pie Laughter, Rarity Generosity, Fluttershy is Kindness, and I represent magic. If I was killed I think Equestria’s only defense against the changelings would be gone.” Twilight stated, giving something for Hei to think about.

Hei had heard about these elements from Luna, when they were used to expel nightmare moon from her. If killing one of these ponies meant that these elements wouldn’t work why go after Twilight only. It was possible that the Queen simply had her own personal vendetta against Twilight, or was it something else.

“Twilight Sparkle I can’t say for certain why Chrysalis specifically targeted you, but it may be just due to personal reasons, did you meet Chrysalis at any point after, or before the Canterlot invasion.

“Yes she did.”

everyone turned to face the source of the new voice that entered the room. Standing in the doorway was Princess Celestia, and Luna. The both of them entered the room, the other ponies bowing out of respect, However, Hei and Yin who stood there in silence, as the two beings approached them.

“I assume you know what happened ?” Hei asked calmly.

“Yes I am aware, and that is why I thought it was best for me and my sister to come here.” Celestia replied.

“So would you like to explain why Chrysalis wanted Twilight Sparkle dead.” Hei asked making some of the ponies in  the room gasp from his tone towards the princess.

“Yes I will explain. Twilight many months ago lured Twilight and her friends to her lair, there she attempted to control Twilight and her powers. Seeing howTwilight’s magic was strong and quite unpredictable she wanted to have power like that in her possession. However, at that point in time a comet was over Equestria, that increased magical ability, it gave both Chrysalis and Twilight stronger magic, because of this Twilight was able to defeat Chrysalis. Chrysalis now probably seeing how Twilight defeated her the last time, wants her dead to make taking over much easier.” Celestia finally finished, and the room went silent.

“Well what about the person she chose for the assassination Crimson Iris ?” Hei asked breaking the silence.

“That one is a strange indeed. He’s a changeling that can’t change his form, or feed on the love of others.” Luna finally said answering Hei’s question. “ He wasn’t born in Chrysalis’s hive either, in fact his origins are completely unknown. What we do know he is ruthless, though he only kills when hired to, his methods are quite disturbing. if you weren’t brought to Equestria, Twilight Sparkle would really be dead.” Twilight jumped at the words, looking up to Hei almost reassuringly.

“I wounded him pretty badly, he shouldn’t be returning to Ponyville any time soon. However, that comes to my next topic. How do you want to deal with this situation ?” Hei asked, receiving exchanging glances between Celestia and her sister.

“For today you all should rest, me and Luna will contact you in the morning about our decision on how to handle this situation.” Celestia said turing to leave.

Hei did not completely agree with this, but he wasn’t in a position to question it. He simply nodded watching Celestia leave with Luna. Half way to the door though Luna turned to face him.

“Hei we will to speak with thou tonight.” Hei understood what luna meant nodding in acknowledgement. Luna wanted to speak wit him in his dream, just like when they first met. For some reason Hei knew he could trust Luna. He had known long before that Celestia made them meet, due to his love of the stars, probably knew that the two would connect. He hated to admit it, but she was right. With that in mind he watched Celestia and Luna finally leave.

He turned to Yin who was standing next to him. She looked at him her eyes showing worry. Hei began to become lost in her eyes, knowing that even though Yin wasn’t showing it, she was generally concerned for his well being. Hei finally reached down and stroked her cheek.

“I’m going to be fine Yin you don’t have to worry.” Yin responded by hugging Hei tightly. The mane six watched this with shock, even Pinkie was silent. Yin let go of Hei but continued to hold his hand.

Twilight walked up to the both of them a smile on her face. She looked up at him not receiving the usual cold emotionless stare, but more a look of confusion. She could finally see that Hei was really no different than anyone in this room. Sure he was intimidating, emotionless, and a bit rude as well. However, Twilight could see he still cared about people, this was defiantly noticeable in the relationship he shared with Yin. Not to mention he also selflessly defended Twilight and her friends, saving there lives.

“Hei I know you probably won’t think of it as much, but you saved me and Fluttershy, and I personally can’t thank you enough, and I think I speak for everyone here.” Twilight said turning to the rest of the group who were nodding in agreement.

“You never did let me finish Twilight Sparkle.” Hei said making Twilight raise her eye brow.

“I only ever targeted contractors, and the people that worked with them. Most of what I did was through a personal mission to find my sister. I don’t stand by and let people who aren’t involved with my enemy die. Hei said in his usual emotionless tone, but Twilight could still tell he meant what he said.

“I see that now Hei. Once again thank you.” Twilight said embracing him in a small hug.

“Yeah lets all give Heie a hug !” Pinkie shouted as she brought everyone in the room to hug Hei.

Hei stood there surrounded by all these ponies who were invading his personal space, with a face that could only be summed up in a four words.

“ please just kill me now.”

The ponies finally let go, to Hei’s relief, as a pony with a doctors coat walked into the room.

“Hehe having a touching moment are we, sorry I had to interrupt, but I came to tell you it’s okay for Fluttershy, to go home. Just be sure not to do anything stressing for the next week, as it may open the wound.” the doctor said with a polite smile.

“Um thank you.” Fluttershy said in her usual quite tone. Apple Jack went over to help her out of bed.

Pinkie hopped around the room excitedly as per the usual when she appeared to have an idea. She bounced over to Hei getting in his face again.

“You know what this means Heie, I can throw you your welcome to Equestria party, and at the same time have Fluttershy’s get better party isn’t that just Great!” Pinkie asked the expressionless human before her.

“I honestly don’t understand you Pinkie Pie. You can do what you want.” Hei said walking past the bouncing mare, followed by Yin.

“Great don’t worry Heie by the end of the night you’ll be so so happy you’ll just explode.” Pinkie said bouncing out of the room after him.

Hei really just couldn’t understand this pony.

upon arriving back in Ponyville, specifically Sugar Cube Corner. Pinkie Pie had kept her promise. Hei and Yin found themselves surrounded by a large number of ponies that had obviously invited to the party. One could say that this gathering of of social interaction, might have been a bit overdone. This someone was Hei who sat at one of the table several bottles of cider covering it. To Hei’s disappointment he wasn’t even close to getting even mildly drunk. He hadn’t drunk alcohol since losing Yin, but with the amount of social interaction being forced at him, he thought it might be best to have some form of alcohol close. The rest of the night was as he expected, Ponies came up to him and Yin asking several questions. Most obvious one was what he was, another was were he came from. Though they were some that asked a variety of questions and made general conversation. One mint colored pony named Lyra seemed to be fascinated with Hei’s hands. Another  named Vinyl Scratch, who was the DJ for the party. She made several comments on apparently how awesome he was explaining she saw the fight between him and Crimson, which seemed to be the case with most ponies at the party. Then there were odd ones like a grey Pegasus with the very interesting eyes, that asked Hei if he liked muffins. Honestly he really just wanted this party to end. Hei slumped in his chair, the music still blaring from the huge speakers set up. Hei looked across to see everyone dancing and having a good time. Yin was even dancing with Pinkie Pie helping her. Correction probably forcing her. Twilight and Apple Jack and Fluttershy were having a conversation. Obviously it was about something funny as they were laughing. Through the crowed Hei saw a familiar rainbow maned Pegasus trotting over to him.

“Hey whats up with you, your just sitting here trying to drink your self unconscious” Rainbow Dash said chuckling a bit to her self.

“Well I’ve never been to a party so I honestly wouldn’t know how to behave.” Hei said taking another swig of the cider in front of him.

“You mind if I have a drink with you.” Rainbow Asked sitting down.

“Go ahead.” Hei replied giving her one of the untouched bottles on the table.

Rainbow Dash took the cider taking the occasional sip of the bitter sweet tasting beverage. Rainbow looked over at Hei who had his usual emotionless look on his face as he stared off at the other ponies enjoying the party. Rainbow Dash was curious as to why he was so up tight. Couldn’t the guy enjoy himself ?

“Hey Hei why are you always so down, I barely ever see you smile,I know that we still have some flank to kick, but you should try and enjoy your self when you can.” Rainbow said taking a swig of the cider.

She seemed to have gotten his attention, as he turned to face her intently. She could see that he actually looked a bit exhausted. Hie finally broke the silence.

“You aren’t the first one to ask me this question.” Rainbow began to listen with interest as Hei continued. “Back in my world I posed  as an exchange student. I moved into a small apartment complex with a couple other people who were living just below me. I never socialized with them. Anytime I saw them I’d tell them I had work, which was a cover for when I was given a mission. On one of them I met this man named Kenji, who through a series of events ending up coming back to my apartment. He met my neighbors  and pushed me to socialize with them.” Hei took a break to take a sip of his cider.

“Heh sounds like he was able to talk some sense into you, what happened to this guy?” Rainbow Dash asked getting quite invested. Hei simply sighed and turned back to her

“There was a doll the type of being Yin is, or used to be. Dolls are emotionless they don’t act on there own free will. Usually. Thats why people traded them, as servants. Kenji worked for these people and rescued this one doll. He then came to me for help in getting them both out of the country. I didn’t want to help at first, but Yin was able to convince me. In the end, I guess I did the right thing, even if there was no logic in it. The odd thing was the doll began to develop feelings for him, almost as if it had gained back the ability to feel.” Hei paused thinking of Yin and himself, thinking how similar him and Kenji actually were, they both fought for someone they cared about, even if they didn’t have a past with this person. However, Hei brushed this off continuing the story. “Anyway when I got back to my apartment my landlord asked me why I never did socialize with my neighbors. I still don’t know why but, I went to talk with them, and I guess I may have actually enjoyed it.” Hei took another pause to drink.

“Then whats the problem with this party? Pinkie throws the best parties in ponyville.” Rainbow asked confused.

“At the end of the day I always had to tell myself I was a contractor, I had a job to do, and I couldn’t let little things like socializing get in the way.” Hei said finally finishing what was his last drink.

“Well your not in your world anymore and you don’t have someone telling you to do a job, try and enjoy your self for once. That girl Yin she’s even enjoying her self. I think heheh. Why don’t you ask her to dance or something, you seem to like her.” Rainbow said with a bit of a snicker that slightly annoyed Hei, but he realized she had a point. He finally had Yin back. They weren’t on the run from syndicate anymore. Still Hei  didn’t like the idea of letting his guard down with a threat just around the corner, but he figured for Yin he could give it a try. Still there was one question booming in his mind that he needed to ask.

“Why did you come over here Rainbow Dash ?” Hei asked rather bluntly. Rainbow Dash finished of her cider before replying.

“I’ll admit at first I thought you were a jerk, which you kind of are, but you saved Twilight’s life, I just assumed you were only looking out for your self, but after seeing that. maybe I should get to know you better before jumping to conclusions., and hey if those changelings come here again I got your back.” Rainbow said with a confident smirk on her face. Hei actually smiled a little before getting up out of the chair,preparing to head over to Yin, while also turning to Rainbow.

“Thanks  for the talk” Hei said showing a bit of gratitude. Rainbow simply smiled a nodded as Hei walked over to Yin, who had gotten out of dancing with Pinkie. Hei moved past other ponies over beside Yin causing her to face him. He honestly still didn’t know if this was a good idea, why was he doing this. There was no reason no logic to it. He then figured thats the reason why, there is no logic to it. This was what separated him from contractors, he cared for someone deeply, he’d spent months searching for this person. Now she was here and nothing was going to change that. Nothing that he would allow. Hei finally admitted to himself. Maybe having a little enjoyment in life isn’t such a bad idea. He also realized that in a weird sense Kenji was actually was just like him. If anything maybe meeting him, was one of the best things he could have done. Hei then snapped back to reality as he finally spoke.

“Yin..do you want to Dance with me.” Hei asked giving her a smile, and to his surprise he received a smile back from her.

“Yes Hei I would like that. Yin said letting there hands intertwine.

At that moment Hei noticed the usual loud party music had actually turned very calm and soothing, as the ponies around him began to give both him and Yin some room. Hei looked over to the DJ stand to find, the Twilight and her friends near vinyl scratch. Glancing over to the right, he could see Rainbow Dash giving him a wink. Hei nodded out of gratitude. He turned back to Yin who  began to sway back and forth pulling her self closer to him. Hei followed her motions putting his arms around her. The scene playing out began to make Pinkie Pie shed several tears as Hei and Yin shared this moment together. Yin finally tilted her head to look at Hei. Saying something Hei never thought he’d hear.

“I love you Hei.” Yin said her voice no longer as emotionless, she clearly meant what she said. Hei was shocked by this statement. He never thought he’d here the day Yin would actually say that to him. Hei simply smiled at her, he honestly couldn’t care less about anything else, the only thing that mattered right now was what was Happening here.

“I..I love you to Yin.” Hei finally said as him and Yin continued to dance to the soothing music...
