Chapters The King and His Stallion
“It’s cold AJ…” Mac said as he felt the icy sting of the frozen air attack his ears and lips. “Ah hope your right about the crystal empire bein’ warm sis…”
“just shut yer trap Mac we’ll be warm soon.” AJ said as she lead the way leaving a four to five pony gap between them.
Suddenly the ground shook and Mac saw nothing but white as he fell into a crevasse previously covered in snow seeing nothing but white.
:3 hours later:
“Wake up you filthy stallion!!” A deep seeping voice roared in Macs ear stirring the stallion seeing nothing but black.
“W-where are you? W-who are you?” Mac said as he looked around him again only seeing black.
“I am King Sombra and you are currently in my FROZEN HOME!!! Did those wretched crystal weaklings send you to finish what is left of me off?!!!” A Face of pure grey and two yellow and red eyes with faint traces of purple mist seeping from them as the darkness fled to form the Gray stallion. “Well why are you here Speak up you pathetic stallion!!!”
“Ah fell I don’t remember anything after that alright?!! Some King you are… aint even got decent morals do ya?!!” Mac trots forward to the stallion as he glares. “Ah may be a simple farm stallion but I aint pathetic especially since I aint been banish by a pink alicorn and a stupid Unicorn!!”
:Meanwhile in the Crystal Kingdom:
“Shining we got a problem!!” Applejack said as she ran into the royal throne room.
“Applejack what’s wrong?!!” Shining armor got up as he ran over to the distressed mare. “Where’s Mac?!!”
“H-he fell into a l-large crevasse!!” She could barely breathe from the running as explained what happened to her brother.
“T-that Crevasse!!! T-that’s Sombra’s old hiding place!!! We haven’t seen it since he was defeated with the Crystal Heart!! Take me there immediately!!” Shining gathered his troops as they left the palace after the long sought out crevasse.
:One hour later in the Crevasse:
“So your saying if I have the courage to jump… the parachute will open?” Sombra said curiously as he looked at Mac.
“Eeyup” Mac spoke comfortingly.
“wow that’s really deep…”
“Eeyup” Mac spoke back softer as he stroked the poor grey stallion as he looked into his eyes.
“So earlier… sorry I showed you so much hatred… I didn’t know you were more than just a stallion…” Sombra said as he rubbed on of his hooves. “S-so you’re saying Twilight and your sister and her friends are trying to reform others like me?”
“Eeyup they are… but you aint got to if you don’t want…” Mac looked at the stallion as he tapped the stallions hoof. “Why change who ya are when it works for ya?”
“Really you didn’t mind when I was yelling and demeaning to you?” Sombra looked up at the stallion beside him.
“Eenope I was kinda happy to notice someone still has fire and strength even when they are at their lowest…” Mac looked at the stallion and snorted. “ Just saying im not the one to be all mushy myself…”
“HAHAHA SAYS THE STALLION WITH A LITTLE DOLL!!” Sombra bellowed as he pulled the doll out of Mac’s bag. “Wonder what would happen if I happened to somehow burn it?”
Mac wrestled with the unicorn stallion as they tumbled at the bottom of the crevasse fighting over the doll as Mac tired and sore from the fall couldn’t stand his ground anymore laying on his back underneath the unicorn stallion.
“P-please don’t burn her… Smarty Pants is the only one who understands me...” Mac held his hoof up in vain as the unicorn smirked.
“Hmmmmm… the only one?” Sombra set the doll down with his magic as he brought his lips to Mac’s ear. “Even if I your new king… perhaps tried to understand you?”
“W-well…. ah d-didn’t necessarily call you my king…” Mac felt two fangs caress his ears delicate soft edge. “But you certainly have my vote at this point…”
Sombra bit down on Macs ear slowly and forcefully puncturing it as he felt the stallion squirm underneath. “STOP squirming… I might rip your ear off if you don’t…” Mac stopped squirming as Sombra slowly released. “This means you are my stallion now… do my will and you’ll live to rule beside me.”
“You’re joking right?” Mac said calmly as he looked into the other stallions while he felt his blood drip from his ear.
“Yeah… I don’t have the power to control a pony anymore… but I do have the power to turn into mist!!” Sombra said enthusiastically as he nuzzled the poor stallions bleeding ear. “But I do know one thing… you certainly know pure hatred and darkness which I like and you’re a deep tortured soul as well… your poor granny not letting you talk cause she can’t get over the fact you sound like her son in the days he was alive… well I’ll let you talk as long as you can if you let me leave this crevasse with you…”
Mac looked at a rock that had a weird looking aura. “Is that what’s keeping you here?” He looked as Sombra nodded.
“It’s a seal Celestia and Luna had put on when they banished me the first time here… It activated when the Crystal Heart pushed me back in…” Mac nuzzled the stallion.
“Fine but keep your sister and her element friends away from me got it?” Sombra released the pinned stallion as he looked at the rock he hated most of his life. Mac smashed the rock sending a blast of hot air through the crevasse and into the frozen tundra melting the snow everywhere around the city and the land.
“W-what happened? Mac said as he looked at a now growing mist of black magic surround him.
“NOW I'M FINALLY FREE FROM THIS WRETCHED PLACE!!!!” Wailed the once bound king as Sombra lifted the stallion out of the crevasse placing him gently at the entrance to the city as he whispers in the stallions’ ear. “I’ll be in your bag till the trip is done my new accomplice…” the mist faded as Mac walked through the city only to meet the guards and his sister at the entrance gate.

“Mac!! What happened how did you get out of that crevasse?!!!” Aj yelled as she pulled her brother through the entrance sending him and his saddle bag through the barrier noticing a glow come from the bag.
“Aj I’m fine I climbed out of the crevasse…” Big mac said as he felt a small tinge on his flank where the bag sat.
“Mac why aren’t you cold from the snow?” AJ said as she felt his coat. “Matter of fact where is the snow outside?” she said as she poked her head out of the barrier.
“I don’t know AJ if faded while I was in the crevasse.” Mac said as he looked worried.
“Well im just glad my buddy aint going to be lost in a crevasses while the girls had the week together aint that right Mac?” Shining said as he walked towards the two. “After all Spike is crazy when he has nothing to do and trust me my sister keeps him busy so we need to figure something out for him to do.”
“Eeyup...” Mac said as he still felt a tingle in his saddle bag against his flank. “Uh c-can ah get some rest please I’m kinda exhausted from climbing out that crevasse…”
“Sure buddy I’ll have two guards take you to the guest room.” Shinning said as he was taken by two guard stallions to the room he was supposed to stay in for the rest of the week.
:later in the guestroom:
“Here you go Mr. Macintosh your luxury suite for the week.” Said a guard stallion as Mac closed the door giving him privacy to check his saddle bag.
Dumping the contents of his bag on the bed a limp little unicorn rolled out of the bag barely moving. “Stay with me your highness, come on wake up!!!” Mac prodded the tiny unicorn as he shook with fear that the stallion was hurt and probably dead.
“I don’t want to get up mother I ate the cookies too much…” Was the reply that Mac received from the poor unicorn as he saw an orange spark come from his coat?
“Sombra please get up we need to talk…” Mac picked up the limp stallion in his hooves as he nuzzled it feeling the spark disappear.
“Huh?” Sombra said as he woke up seeing mac holding him. “Unhand me!! I am not weak you crazy stallion I just need some rest…” Sombra’s horn lit up as he grew to half the size of Mac only to stop growing as Mac caught him keeping him from falling.
“Your highness, are you alright?” Mac said as he placed the now colt sized stallion on his bed.
“Mac I don’t want you to see me like this…” Sombra said as the purple wisps from his eyes faded into nothing. “when I was pulled through the barrier I was hit with a double whammy… Element of harmony plus the crystal heart equaled this energy zap…”
“Well your highness we have all day to rest so you just sleep and I’ll get you some grub ok?” Mac said as he tucked the king in running off to the dinning kitchen.
“Huh… that stallion is devoted… why it is after thousands of years I couldn’t get one pony in Equestria to even do anything without controlling them… is it me? Could I have gained the actual trust of a stallion that cares about even the weakest of creatures?” The king said to himself as he drifted off to sleep only to be awaken mere minutes earlier by a gentle hoof petting his mane with the softest yet strongest hoof he ever felt.
“Wakey, Wakey, your highness… ah brought you some food…” Mac said as Sombra stirred in the bed.
“Nourishment… thank you my servant this is most wonderful!!” Sombra said as he picked up the food and devoured it without question knowing for years his body nourished himself with dark magic but nothing could compare to food when nourishment was needed at this magnitude. “you know I never used to be a tyrant… I had to scrape and scrounge my way to the top. I was born in a poor family and everywhere I turned it only got worse… one year my father got sick and died the following year… I had four jobs and only one hour of sleep each day. My mother was selling her body to stallions just to put food on the table… she had so many miscarriages and been raped so many times without money I eventually got another job and ended up not sleeping till the weekends… I even learned a spell that would give me an instant boost of energy to get through the week. Then I had a chance… Discord was in the crystal empire and he was going about his chaotic business and his power was immense so I figured if I talk to him he would teach me how to be successful and how to keep my family alive… I bargained for more than I thought. Discord told me exactly how. He gave me a spell and said do not use it until I become a stallion… I did become a stallion and our kingdom had a political advantage of democracy because the royal family became extinct because of inbreeding to the point it was snuffed out… I was finally elected cause I promised that the crystal empire will have no more suffering and that I had underhandedly obtained some dirt on the others via Discord. Finally one day I was visited in my kingdom by Discord and he reminded of the spell I had kept all those years and that finally I was a stallion and so I preformed the spell. My once elegant horn became this claw shaped horn and my cutie-mark became dull and grey like this.”
Sombra took off his robe and armor showing a crystal for a cutie mark only grey with black outlines and shadowing. “It used to be a bright ruby red and I used to be crystal like the other ponies in this kingdom. I’m finally going to have a shot to gain my kingdom back and more and then no one will take me down into this slum I’m used to. Then you Macintosh Apple shall finally end your suffering as well. I will rule the world and you shall know what success is my servant and you shall forever be happy. I will open the crystal mines again and we shall end poverty and we shall bring this world a better way of life. This time… this time I shall be stronger for my kingdom and learn from my mistakes… but I must ask you a question my dear servant… do you still wish to serve me? Again thank you this nourishment will be of immense help.”
“Hehe no problem your highness I took an oath to you remember?” Mac said as he bowed and lay down on the floor to sleep. After Sombra had finished feeding himself he couldn’t help but look at the stallion sleep as he peered over the side of the bed.
“He did nourish me… and he helped me when I was weak… he should not sleep on the floor while this is originally his room… why am I having these thoughts… I’m a dark king it is my right to take what I want and give nothing… then why do I feel wrong letting him sleep on the floor when he has protected and nourished me…” Sombra thought as he lit his horn up and picked the stallion up placing him on the bed next to him. “Sleep well my servant for tomorrow I shall start to take this kingdom and make Equestria mine.”
: The next morning:
“Wake up Mac!!” there was a pounding on the door as Mac woke up seeing the king still resting. “Mac Spike needs something to do so I told him to clean your room so you need to wake up!!” Shining’s voice rang through the door clearer now.
Mac got up and opened the door. “What do you want Shining?” Mac said as he glared at shining. “Quiet down ok?”
“Mare or a Stallion Mac you horny stallion who did you rut last night huh?” Shining said as he looked over Macs shoulder to the bed.
“It’s no one alright…” Mac said as he tried to shut the door only to have Shining armor push into the room towards the bed. “Shining no don’t!!” Mac said as he scrambled next to the dumbfounded stallion.
“Is this who I think it is Mac?!!” Shining glared at the Sleeping king and then to Mac. “You didn’t climb out you were taken out by Sombra!!! Wait you released Sombra?!!! Macintosh apple what do you have to say for yourself?!!” Shining roared as Sombra’s yellow and red eyes Sprang to life as thick wisps of dark power flowed from them as he got up slowly.
“Do not DARE threaten my servant you bleached white fool!!” Sombra shouted as he sent dark magic through the air to restrain Shining armor while a wisp pf it crystalized his horn like before when he first fought the pathetic stallion. “This shall be my kingdom again and you and your pathetic wife shall know my will!!” Sombra through Shining armor onto the floor and returned to his normal body. “Macintosh did he hurt you?” Sombra said as he walked towards the stallion.
“N-no your highness I’m sorry your sleep was interrupted… ah tried to stop him ah swear ah…” Mac was cut off by a hoof holding his cheek as he felt tears stream down his cheek.
“Why do you cry my servant? There is no need, the pathetic unicorn is only incapacitated for now and he is not dead… what brings these tears to your eyes?” Sombra said as he wiped the warm tears away.
“Ah am afraid you would do the same if not worse to me since you were awoken from your sleep…” Mac said as he felt the hoof dry his tears.
“Do not be afraid of me my servant for you have only done your best to ensure my well-being… never be afraid of me for you have earn my trust and my mercy…” Sombra let his hoof leave Mac’s cheek as he slowly turned to the now awakening unicorn. “My servant has spared you now get out of his room and if you dare to attack us again I shall end your nonexistent life!!”
“Who said you could stay and why are you controlling Mac?!!” Shining said as he circled around the Dark King. “You shall not win cause ill reach the crystal heart and it will banish you again!!”
The king scoffed as he stopped the stallion with his magic. “Fool you see the heart is at full power and it did a lot of damage to me I assure you, but you shall not be able to get rid of me cause the heart has excepted me thanks to not only Macintosh Apple my servant but his delightfully annoying sister… (an Eeyup could be heard after the annoying remark about his sister) has sent a current of elemental energy through my body making the heart almost useless unless you can somehow find a billion more crystal hearts to defeat me… which is impossible cause there is only one…”
“Wait so you’re saying Applejack was responsible for allowing you into the kingdom?!!” Shining said as he looked like a deer in headlights.
“Well passively yes… it was by all means accidental the heart almost kept me from entering even though I would have entered I would surely have died but when that orange mare made contact the trace elemental powers shocked the barrier and me with it the barrier considered me part of the elements.” Sombra smiled as he stood next to Mac.
“So you’re going to take the crystal Empire then…” Shining said as he glared at Macintosh and Sombra.
“Look Shining, just think if Sombra rules maybe it could be a good change for the new Equestria…” Mac said as he looked at Sombra who smiled at his servant.
“If it makes you feel better I shall not bother Canterlot or Ponyville… until I overthrow all of the princesses which considering how much stronger I am now… say about 6 months… so you should have plenty of time to put a baby in that oven of your wife’s to be a new slave for me… how wonderful!!!” Sombra said as he clapped his front hooves joyfully.
“You monster what did you do to Mac?” Shining said as Mac went to fetch King Sombra his attire.
“To be perfectly honest he is acting of his own free will. I did not make him do anything he didn’t want to do.” Said Sombra as he told the honest truth only for him suddenly twitch his left eye. “Wait I didn’t mean to say that… Why did I tell the truth? Servant, come here now!!! Did you put truth serum in my food or inject me as I slept you know I sleep like a rock most of the time!! UGH I DID IT AGAIN!!!” Sombra started to freak out as Mac just stared puzzled at his king while Shining started to laugh.
“Haha sounds like a MTDP or otherwise known as Magical Transfer Disorientation of Personality. Face it Sombra you may not have been killed in Crystal Heart’s barrier because of the Element of honest, but now you can’t LIE!!! Hahaha!! So now you can’t lie when anyone asks you a question can you?!!! Oh this is good!!!” Shining rubbed his hooves together as Sombra glared at him.
“So you can only try to stop me!!” Sombra said as he felt awkward telling the truth. “M-mac my servant l-lead me to the kitchen please…” Sombra said as he turned around and walked out of the door.
“Mac if what he said was true, why do you help him?” Shining said as Mac turned to leave.
“Cause he is a stallion that understands the hardships of life and ain't going off of trifle things like working in the guard or seeing death… he understands that making a better life for yourself anyway you can is the right choice. He wants me to be by his side when he rules and he knows if I do my family is safe happy and will see no strife. He understands when the opportunity arises you take it and never look back. Something you wouldn’t know growing up in Canterlot with plenty of money and a good life to live. Your sister is a bucking princess now. All my family is now is simple poor folk farmers. He is my ticket to a better life something you never had to work for ‘prince.’” Mac walked out to help his new king and employer.
“Ah, Macintosh my servant good of you to show up finally… was the unicorn bothering you?” Sombra said noticing the slight tears in Mac’s eyes. “You know ponies like him don’t understand what it’s like to scrape and scrounge for what they have like you and me.” Sombra stopped suddenly. “If you do not wish to serve me any longer I will not forget you… your family will be spared either way you know...”
Mac stopped and looked Sombra in the eyes no wisps of purple energy and most of all his yellow eyes with red pupils disappeared and were replaces with white and purple irises. “I wont quit cause I believe there is more to you my king than what other ponies see… I see the real you the one who aint been a tyrant and aint been hurtful in the past… I see a pony like me and I aint abandoning a friend.”
Something clicked in Sombra as he heard the word friend something inside him broke and something was repaired at the same time. “Y-y-you consider me a f-friend? You a pony who sees me the way I once was considers an old tyrant like me a friend?” Sombra couldn’t believe what he was hearing as something just warmed him from the inside like a pit of warmth in his chest. “You are one special… f-friend… Macintosh…”Sombra closed his eyes bringing the yellow and red back to his eyes. “We shall not mention this until after we succeed ok my friend?”
“Yes my friend yes.” Mac said as he led the king to the kitchen for nourishment.

To be really honest i had so many ideas in my head i tried to fit them all but over all i think you will enjoy the concept.

Mac and Sombra were walking down the hall towards the kitchen when suddenly they saw the purple dragon Spike come around the corner. “SHINING?!! SHI-…” spike stopped as he saw a familiar grey stallion standing in front of the dragon. “S-s-s-s-s-som-som-som-somb-somb-som…” The grey stallion laughed as he looked at the pathetic dragon putting his hoof over his mouth.
“Were you trying to say… SOMBRA? Sombra said as he grinned and bared his fangs licking them in front of the dragon. “Yes it is me after all you did try to destroy me with the pathetic crystal heart… is that perhaps why your shaking more than a hypothermic pony?” Spike took the hoof and pushed it away.
“I’m not afraid!! I’ll just use the Crystal heart to…” Sombra laughed as spike said crystal heart.
“Hahahaha Crystal Heart, that pathetic use for a paper weight no longer affects me you silly dragon… but it does make me want to destroy it even though it’s useless. Isn’t that right Mac?” Mac stepped out from behind him and looked at spike.
“Spike stay outta his way ah don’t wanna see you hurt alright?” Mac said as he looked at Spike pleading. “He just wants to make a good life for himself and I’m willing to support that as long as it helps me as well. He’s a good friend of mine… you just don’t understand like ah do spike.” Mac said as he saw spikes face glow red with anger.
“Mac, don’t dare even try talking to me, your fraternizing with the enemy!!” Spike said as he pointed at Sombra glaring angrily. “Wait till I tell Twilight!!!” Spike quickly runs off as Sombra shrugs nonchalantly.
“He can call twilight and the princesses for all I care they cannot touch me now…” Sombra said as they continued to walk to the kitchen.
Later that day Mac and Sombra decided it was time to destroy the Crystal heart only to get there to find all the princesses and the elements ready to fight a battle of epic proportions.
“Sombra it ends now.” Shouted Celestia as she spread her wings warning Sombra she will not hesitate. “We have heard from spike and Shining Armor that you have been infused with the Element of Honesty and the Crystal Heart has no effect on you. Thus we have all decided it is a fight to the death or until one declares they are defeated.” Sombra only laughed as he looked at them and smiled.
“I’ll take your declaration of defeat now then… or should I show you only part of my power?” Sombra said as Mac stood by his side.
“Mac, get your sorry hooves over here now!!” Applejack shouted as she glared at him.
“Ah aint going sis!!! He is my KING!!” Mac shouted as he stayed put stamping his hoof on the glassy
“You are a traitor!!! Who are you and what did you do with my brother!!!” Applejack shouted as she looked in shock at her brother. “He’s controlling you and we will not stop till we defeat him!!”
“Hahaha you fool can’t even get the actual Elements of Harmony!! Your bother is not controlled he willingly followed me!!” Sombra’s horn lit up as he sent a furry or magical blasts at all of them sending most of the elements to the ground knocked out leaving only Pinkie Applejack and Twilight were still standing.
“Mac what is with you?!! He is trying to hurt me and your just letting him?!!” Applejack shouted as she threw apples towards Sombra as he sent them back twice as fast landing a blow to Twilight’s horn and Luna and Celestia’s breaking them from the impact.
“Ha, what now you struggling princesses?!!!” Sombra said as their magical attack was blocked. Celestia and Luna’s horns grew back almost instantly but twilight being a new princess couldn’t. “Hahaha you couldn’t even teach the new one how to fight a magical battle!!”
“ENOUGH!!!” Celestia shouted as she concentrated a massive magical blast using up most of her magical well. “TAKE THIS YOU REJECTED KING!!!” Through her rage she threw the attack sending it towards Sombra so fast making him have only a split second to throw a shield to defend himself unable to reach the red stallion he called friend before it blasted the stallion into a pillar and limply to the floor sending rage through the king.
“MAC!!!!!!!” Sombra shouted as his red irises reverted to his purple and white eyes.
The place stood still as the king darted to the side of the stallion without even thinking as Luna unaware of the blast that hit mac earlier sent hers flying just as fast as Celestia’s as Sombra subconsciously stopped the attack in mid-flight holding it just as still as possible as he stroked the unconscious stallions burnt and frayed mane. “I never told you how much you meant to me… I never told you…” Sombra whispered as he dispelled the massive blast dispersing it into the two Alicorns and repairing Twilight’s horn. He talked shakily as he sat next to the poor damaged stallion. “I concede… I concede…” Sombra felt something break something that he never knew he had. He felt the warmth he had felt from earlier with Macintosh only this time it seemed to turn cold and sore. “What is this feeling of pain and hurt… I never felt this before… where is it coming from?”
Mac opened his eyes slightly as he looked up at Sombra as he felt tears touch his muzzle from Sombra’s purple eyes. Hearing Sombra’s words he coughed a bit tasting copper as blood leaked from his mouth. “It’s called a heart… your majesty, my friend…” Mac lost consciousness as everything around him faded into darkness seeing one thing before he saw nothing. He saw Sombra’s winning smile he felt he would miss so much as it got harder to breathe. Saying one last thing he drew what was his last breath. “I love you my king…” Darkness swallowed his thoughts.

Mac woke up seeing white as he felt something warm against him. He tried to focus as the light happened to be a crystal chandelier as he groaned awake. “Where am ah?” he looked over to see a grey stallion lying next to him with chains around his legs and a magical seal on his horn. “Oh my king… ah failed you…”
Sombra woke up hearing a voice he thought he would never hear again. “Mac? You’re awake?!!” Sombra tried to reach Mac’s hoof only to feel he chains bind. “I told them that I would rather be chained until my execution than stay away from you in a cell… I was foolish to drag you into my war... if I would have known you loved me… I wouldn’t have even considered the war in the first place…” Sombra was cut off by a hoof.
“First you don’t worry now… second ah need to get to the throne room and third ah need to figure out how to get those chains off of ya.” Mac weakly got up as he looked at his surroundings. “Where am ah again?” Mac scratched his head a minute.
“Mac you’re in your guest room.” Sombra said as he slinked to the bathroom hearing those chains clink and clang as he walked. Mac hearing them walked as quickly as he could out of the room towards the throne room. “If only I told him what truly happened to him… The poor guy would hate me for it…” Sombra said as he used the restroom.
Later mac burst through the doors glaring at the princesses around the throne. “RELEASE HIM NOW!!!” Mac yelled as he glared at the princesses.
“Mac nice to see you are awake but Sombra’s fate has been set in stone, I’m sorry.” Celestia said as she approached Mac cautiously.
“AH DON’T GIVE A BUCK NOW RELEASE HIM!!! HE IS NOT HOW HE USED TO BE AND HE ONLY WISHES TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!!!!” Mac hollered again as he galloped as fast as he could to get in Celestia’s face.
“Macintosh he chose this life for himself im sorry but justice must be…” Celestia spoke only to be interrupted by Mac.
“He didn’t choose the dark magic he was TRICKED!!!!!! Discord that ungrateful freak TRICKED HIM!!!!” Mac said as he stamped his hoof into the crystal floor cracking it.
“Oh is that true? If so prove it Macintosh Apple… I will give you a week to ‘reform’ him… if you succeed and he gives up the need to take over the world I will cancel his execution and he may be given a chance to live a better simple life.” Celestia said as she knelt down to macs eye level. “I know what you’re feeling Mac. You see my sister over there don’t you? If I was to have talked with her rationally all those years ago we would have never suffered the emotional and physical pain like we did.
