The First Spark
Part 7
Previous ChapterNext ChapterMy High School years were definitely not the best part of my life. I met a lot of ponies and saw a few I already knew. This was one instance.
I was only in the 10th Grade, straight A’s, friends a plenty (for me anyways) and not a care in the world… well besides The Computer and my missing parents that is. It was all great… till he reentered my life… the one who caused me great harm… the one who gave me these glasses. That’s right Butch Brawny; far stronger than the average stallion and exceedingly more mean!
To say the least I thought he wouldn’t ever be a problem again, but it seems he was to play a part in my life… oh well whatcha gonna do? I was sitting in my Weather Studies class when he appeared. He strolled through the doorway without a care, sinister sneer across his face. I looked up from my classwork to see who’d come in late, and I just couldn’t believe my eyes! Could that really be him!? The bringer of pain and despair!? Unfortunately my eyes hadn’t deceived me. “Late again Mr. Brawny?” The teacher said with sarcasm so heavy I thought someone had dropped an anvil.
“What can I say teach, I’m an important pony.” He replied with a big sneer, he began scanning for an open seat.
I was too preoccupied with the fact that I somehow had missed the fact that he was in my class that I missed the fact that the only open desk was next to me! He took his seat and I swore the desk screamed to me for help. Mortified that my tormentor was sitting next to me I quickly turned the other way and kept writing, making sure to keep my face hidden.
He pulled out the homework assignment from last night and began searching his nearby surroundings for someone to copy off of. I had a gut feeling he’d pick me since I have that… smart look I guess, plus I had finished the assignment already and was working on today’s work.
“Psst! What are the answers for the homework?” He whispered in a very hissy tone.
“I-I d-d-don’t have t-them.” I replied shaking so hard I’d appear on the Richter Scale.
“You really want to do this smart guy?” That tone was much more threatening.
“I don’t have them!” I actually believed my own lie.
“If you don’t give me the answers I’m going to have to pummel you after school.” I was terrified beyond imagination; I had to do it so as not to risk my own safety.
I nudged the homework over with my wing. “Good choice dorkwad.” Wow he sure had a stupid insult… but at least I was alive.
“Hey wait a sec…” Time stopped right there, I knew he had figured me out, it was going to die! “You have the name of someone I used to know back in Cloudsdale.” Good bye Equestria, he is going to kill me! “Yeah he was a dweeb who was really smart. I half blinded him but he deserved it.” Here lies Digital Pwny, don’t hire him for undercover work. “What a coincidence.”
… DEAR CELESTIA ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? HOW COULD HE NOT PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER!?!? Boy am I glad I’m the nemesis of the numbest pony ever! Class went on as if nothing had happened. Well besides me being a nervous wreck with Butch sitting next to me. School came and went and I thought I may not have to worry about him; So much for wishful thinking. It was about a month later when the fateful encounter happened.
I was walking through the halls of the high school, and I happened to bump into somepony who felt like a brick wall.
“Ooof! Ow… Sorry I guess I wasn’t looking where I was go… ing…” I looked up and met the eyes of pure rage.
“WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING NERD!!!” I recoiled at the sheer booming volume of his voice. I couldn’t move I was far too scared.
“Wait a second.” I held my breath fearing his next words. “You’re the one; from my first school!” He had figured it out; I was officially a dead stallion.
“You got me in so much trouble and I was expelled from school! You ruined my chances at a good education!” Silence no longer held me, how could he blame me for the ruining of his life!? He was the whole cause of it all!
“You’re the one who started it all! You only have yourself to blame!” He seemed delightfully surprised that I retorted.
“I didn’t do anything except give a nerdy geek what he deserved!” I was outraged, how could this make sense to him at all!?
“You have a problem with the way I am!?” I already knew what he’d say.
“Of course I do!” It was all too obvious he’d say that. I hadn’t realized but a crowd was forming and a low chant heard all too often.
“Fight, fight, fight!” I hate it when ponies chant that, but I was a bit too infuriated to notice.
“Well I have a problem with you!” I began to notice a strange energy beginning to radiate through me, I heard the crowd begin to gasp and say, “Look at his cutie mark!” Butch replied not noticing the change.
“And what might that be?” The crowd was getting a real show, the big Brawny, and the Sparky Pwny.
I hadn’t realized that my cutie mark had energy waves going through the yellow wiring of the circuit, which were making their way extending around my being from my flank to my wings and finally they reached my face. I didn’t know what was happening but it was too late to stop it. I looked at Butch extended my wings, and said one word.
“Everything.” The room’s atmosphere suddenly spiked and bolts of lightning somehow arced from me to Butch knocking him out on contact and leaving a scar going down his eye, as well as a couple burns.
I woke up a few minutes later with everypony staring at me. I rose shakily to my hooves and scanned the scene. A lot of ponies seemed to have run away, Butch lay harmed and out cold on the floor, there were a couple of burns on the walls. I couldn’t believe that had happened, I hadn’t wanted it to happen. I was confused and scared just wishing that hadn’t just happened. A dark blue Pegasus came out from the crowd and began pulling me along with him, wherever he was going.
“Where are we going?” I was shocked, my voice sounded a bit mechanical; must’ve been from the weird energy thing.
“Were getting you away from here so you don’t get accused of things you didn’t mean to do.” He seemed awful happy which was kind of weird. Weren’t we running for safety while being chased or maybe not being chased, wasn’t sure if they found Butch yet.
“You seem happy.”
He laughed and replied in a chipper tone, “It’s best to be happy when in bad situations. So I try to be happy at all times to be sure everything is good.”
Wow he’s got it all figured out, I wish I could. We fled out of the school off towards the tree house; we were finally able to relax once we got inside.
“*pant* How’d you know where to go?” He looked over and gave me a big smile.
“I saw you come out of here a lot when I would fly by, I figured you lived here or something.”
Note to self, try to be sneakier. “Well thanks anyway…” I had another chance to look at him, he had a black and neon mane styled into spikes, with a unruly tail of the same color.
“Who are you anyway? I don’t remember seeing you anywhere in school.” He seemed quite happy that I asked his name, than again I think he’d be happy if I asked him anything.
“I’m Trippy Hooves nice to meet ya!” We shook hooves and figured out where he was in school in comparison to where I was.
Until he realized he needed to get back to school fast! “Crud; I need to get back to school! See ya later Digi gotta fly!” He dashed over to the door and proceeded to take off faster than a rocket.
I was sad to see him go, he really did make a lot of things better, I guess that is the power of being positive. I did have one problem though… I couldn’t go back to school. That was the last time I was ever in school, I didn’t need it; the lessons were getting redundant anyways. Another mystery had made itself known; I had shot lightning from my wings! Pegasi can’t shoot lightning from anything but a storm cloud, so where had it come from?
Author's Note
